No radio with AT&T Note 2 - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II

I had a buddy at work who flashed CleanROM to his phone today at work, he had stopped by my desk and asked me why the phone wouldn't detect his service. I looked and the phone was showing that their was no radio/service. I used Clockwork to flash the ROM again using factory wipe as well as clearing the cache and still had the same issue. Is their a way that I can just install the default radio driver to the phone? I had him try to flash the STOCK ATT ROM for the note 2 back to his phone and still no luck. Gives a message saying that it cant detect the sim? or something to that extent. Any help would be great, thanks ahead of time.
Edit: I also wanted to add that the SIM was working fine before the phone was flashed with CLEAN ROM. There after it no longer worked.

Dunno about your predicament really but in the cleanRom 1st post there is a link to Scotts website where there is a newer modem from the newest ATT OTA update you could try to flash and see if that helps at all. Also I don't know if you tried to take out the sim and put it back in(while the phone is off of course). You would be suprized how many times that has solved radio issues before because sometimes a phone gets bumped just right. In this phone the sim card slot is spring loaded like the micro sd slots.Just a couple ideas for ya.

Getting no service after boot. Please help!

I was running ICS 4.0.4 stock rom on my Koodo SGH-T989D. I used Darkside super wipe and then flashed Ginerbread 2.3.5 using Odin. To my knowledge, Koodo never ran gingerbread on this model so I had to use the Telus version. But since they are both T989Ds I didn't think there would be an issue.
My issue now is after I turn on my phone, it takes about 3 minutes before it finds my network. Normally it's within seconds that it finds my Koodo network. I'm just wondering what the issue might be. Is it kernel related? I've tried flashing different radios, but that didn't work. I've done a factory reset, and flashed again using Odin. My data wasn't working as well, but I fixed that by manually entering in Koodo's data settings.
So any ideas what I can do? Or did I make a mistake trying to flash a Telus rom on a Koodo phone in the first place? Obviously I'm just learning my way around here, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

This is probably a stupid question, but how would I know whether it's reading my SIM?
I know after a few minutes it finally finds the Koodo signal and I have service.

It should show a sim card icon in status bar if its not reading or say no sim card on lockscreen. Otherwise it's working. 1.Try taking it out of phone and putting it back reboot see if its works after reboot. 2. If that doesn't work try another sim if you have it sometimes the cards get messed up flashing but rarely.
3. Dial *2767*3855# in the dialer for full factory format/reset. See if any of this helps you out.

It's very weird. It does recognize my SIM because when I take it out, a pop up comes up saying no sim and to reboot. I spent last night trying to get rid of the problem by flashing different roms, and seeing if there was any different. I flashed a CM10, my stock ICS 4.0.4, and the gingerbread rom. Some I flashed through ODIN, other through TWRP. After a bunch of different tries in no order, it finally got back to have service available immediately. But I went to do just a normal factory reset after I flashed the rom, and it lost service at the beginning of my boot again.
Any idea why a factory reset would affect that?
also, any idea why even after a few minutes when my service comes on, my data is still not available. I need to go to setting and enter in sp.koodo in the settings. Any ideas?

S3 w/ Straight Talk Issue

I have a 16GB AT&T Galaxy S3 running on Straight Talk. I have rooted the phone and even running the stock rom I have no issues. Text data mms everything works. The issue is when I try to run a custom rom, I have tried synergy, hyperdrive as well as a few other, when it boots up it always says I have no sim installed. reboot, same thing. Wipe everything, reinstall, same thing. I am not a developer by any means, but I have been flashing roms since my first mytouch 3g back in the day. As soon as I go back to the stock rom, all is well again. Any insight would be much appreciated. Thanks.
Do you put in the correct apn for straight talk?

Yes, as I said I can have the phone working perfect on the stock rom. 4g mms sms everything. Putting the same settings on the custom form and no go. Its not like im not getting signal, it litteraly doesnt detect the sim.

I have ST and an S3 with no issues. I know you said it works on stock, but your only option may be to call ST and request a new SIM. Even if the APNs were incorrect in the custom ROM, it would STILL DETECT the SIM. If it is saying NO SIM DETECTED, it is a HW issue.
Hope I Helped Out A Bit,
Tee Jay

Works great for me. I'm a reseller & test all my phones & have had no issues using my ST SIM in any S3 (att or tmo). Strange...

I'm thinking its the sim. Its def not a kernal issue or signal problem. Its just not detected. Why it only happens on a custom rom and the stock one still works is beyond me. Going to head to Walmart and get a new sim and see what happens. Thanks again!

Good luck finding a ST ATT sim at Walmart.

[Q] IMEI Oddity

I recently purchased a T Mobile SGH T989 off of Ebay. The seller said the phone was used but in good working condition. When I got the phone, it looked good and had little wear. I went in to settings and preformed a reset to defaults and put my sim card in to test it. The phone seemed to work fine and I tested it for about a week with the stock T Mobile rom. After a week everything on the phone worked and tested out ok. I reflashed the phone to the latest stable version of Cyanogenmod. After first boot and at the home screen, the phone never connected the T mobile service. I re flashed the Cyanogenmod rom thinking something went wrong the first time but again no service. I ran clockwork recovery to the restored the stock rom and immediately get 4 bars or service. Reflash Cyanogenmod rom again no service..back to stock phone works fine. Puzzled I went back to my old phone and decided to call T Mobile support, I read the IMEI off the back of the SGH T989 to the service rep and they told me this phone was part of a business plan that was overdue and was blocked (aka blacklisted). When I rebooted the phone and looked in system info the IMEI had been altered. I reflashed to Cyanogenmod and the phone has the same altered IMEI number as the stock rom but no service. I guess I am confused why it would work with one rom and not the other. Is there something more the governs network provider access? Is there something else I can do to get it to work?
The Ebay seller never said anything about bad IMEI, so I am going to ask for a refund and send it back if I cant fix it...just a better part of a day wasted messing with it only to go back to a Mytouch 4g.

Do I boot into clockwork and perform a darkside wipe and then install the radio from zip?
If I go back to the stock rom will there be any ill effect?
I don't want to have it not work in CM and also not work on stock

You can boot into CWM and wipe cache, dalvik cache and flash the radio. And you can always go back to the radio you have now. To find out which one you have now look for baseband version in settings/about phone.

[Q] When Flashing ROM I lose Mobile Data Connection

Hi there,
I've got an HTC One M8, on the T-Mobile Network. I recently unlocked and rooted my phone. I downloaded the Paranoid Android beta ROM and installed it along with gapps. All went smoothly and booted up fine. However, I noticed my phone wasn't connecting to LTE. All I could do was make phone calls. I tried flashing the ROM again, same issue. I then tried the Cyanogenmod ROM and also had the same issue, so I finally restored my phone's nandroid backup so I'm all good again.
But I'm curious what the issue might be. I also tried taking out and putting back in my SIM card etc. Is there something I'm missing that I need to do?

OKay, I was able to resolve this issue on my own. I changed my APN setting to utilize IPv6 and it's been running just fine. Go figure.

Unknown Baseband after flashing rom

Okay so i have the T-Mobile Galaxy s3. It has been rooted for a while with zero problems. I got tired of the older android on it and decided to install a rom. I installed Cyanogenmod 13.0-20151208-unofficial-d2tmo running android 6.0.1. When i first got it all booted and loaded with gapps, i noticed that it recognized my sim and that i had a signal but i couldn't use any LTE or just all around data. basically i couldn't go online (in case i just didn't explain that well enough. Phone service is a mystery to me). I did some searching online and found a lot of people saying that i needed to update my baseband. i found a baseband for my model (T999) and tried to flash it in TWRM. Once i rebooted, it said "No SIM card - No service." in the upper left-hand side. i have tried flashing multiple different basebands the same way with no luck. i tried backing up my EFS folder and the restoring it because someone said to do that and that just... just no... it didn't do anything. even Odin 3 said it was a "FAIL!". So here i am with this android equivalent to an Ipod and i hate this. Everything else in this ROM works perfectly aside from this but this is a super big problem. PLEASE HELP!!!! A phone isn't a phone if you cant even send a text.
Did you update the phone's bootloader and modem to the latest version before flashing CM?
