[Q] add an area code to rejection list - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

is there a way to block an area code?
i keep getting a phone calls from the same area which i don't associate at all
and it's getting more and more annoying lately, get at least 3 calls from same area in a day
and hi, I'm new here

Open the Phone app.
Touch the Menu key to the left of the Home button and tap "Call Settings".
Tap "Call rejection".
Ensure that "Auto reject mode" is turned on.
Tap "Auto reject list".
Tap "Create".
Enter the area code in the Number field.
Tap "Match criteria".
Tap "Starts with".
Tap "Save".
NOTE: In order for this to work correctly, you must add the international dialing code and the country code in addition to the area code.
For example, if you wanted to block all calls from numbers with an area code of 866, you would need to put in +1866 in the Number field.
Going forward, the phone will automatically reject any phone calls from numbers beginning with the area code that you specified. Hope this helps, have a great day!

Forwarding calls

Is there any way of setting up a short cut button to forward your incoming calls to another number? The reason I ask is because the way you have to do it is to go menu>options>services>call forwarding>get settings>forward all incoming phone calls to>. It would be much easier to just press two buttons one to forward and one to reset back again.
Thanks
Phrontis
There is a "shortcut" but it's not on the phone and it depends on the carrier.
With my local carriers, they support activating different forwarding options by use of a sequence of key strokes + phone number to their system. I forward calls to my phone in the office when at work so I save the sequence+number to my Contacts and add it to Favorites, and whenever I'm in the office I simply select Favorites to send the instructions to the system to activate. Naturally I also have another entry on Favorites to deactivate.
Check with your carrier to see if they support this.
from the phone screen click menu>options>Services tab>Call Forwarding and click "Get Settings..." this might be different depending upon carrier but it works for me

Help with Contacts searching

I have most of my contacts with their area code even if they are the same as mine.
My issue is that when I go to dial a number and put in the first few digits it doesn't find the contact I'm going to dial unless I put in the area code first.
I'm coming from the MotoQ and it would display both contacts matching the digits for the area code and also the first 3 digits of the phone(not counting the area code of course).
Is there anyway to have the phone do this b/c inputting the area code when dialing is a little of a hassel and its that or spell out the name at this point.
If you are using sense ui you can just tap out the first couple letters of their name instead of their number.
So mark smith
6275
And mark will pop up. It works with less input and will narrow the list down as you type more.
Yeah iI know you can do it that way but on my MotoQ it would do that too and also i'd be able to search via entering the 3 digits after the phone number and it would pull those up too. The Evo seems to not do this and will only do it by name or area code. My Q would skip the area code, do the name, and also show ones that matched the area code too.
I just use aContacts and go to the alphabetical search as the default window. Better than having 10 possible contacts pop up.
Another option is Gesture Search. I put a shortcut on my home screen and find myself using it more than anything else.

[Q] Blocking / Redirecting Particular Calls

Is there or anyone know of any apps to block/redirect particular calls?
i.e. if phone number 07123456789 calls then it will automatically send to voicemail / another number or even just disconnect?
and/or if it worked for unknown numbers even better...
Keep getting nuisance calls, I've changed my number once and don't really want to do it again as I've only just got used to this one - I read that o2 will just suggest to change number
Thanks
In your dialer's call log, long press the number, then select the option to add to blacklist It should instant redirect it to voicemail.
long press the number and i get 'view detailed call history' 'edit number before calling' ('view contact' or 'save to people') 'send text message' 'delete from call history'
no blacklisting?
however, if i go into the contacts and i can select the 'send to voicemail' feature and turn it on
thanks!

I found these codes used on the dial pad of Nokia phones. I've tried a couple but since I have no knowledge of them I figured I'd post them and hope a more experienced person could educate us. what does it means when i typed some code in and it said, " unexpected data value"?
Probably what is sounds like...you did something unexpected... ie.. the result was unexpected...
Its probably a generic error that is trying to say "I don't know what you did but stop that"

You should not need to press dial to input the code. Mostly likely the code tried is not supported by the handset. That is a very generic list of Nokia codes, some will work and others will not.
I thought ##634# installed the Diag app. ##DATA# Just gives you cell info and tests.
Subscribed. Curious to see where this goes. Some of those codes look interesting and makes me wonder if there are any others
A lot of these don't work on ATT Lumia 900
So how do you get the "*" to work? Long pressed and typed in various ways.

Erasing call history on phone dial pad to re-enable auto complete feature?

Hi All,
I am a big fan of the auto complete feature of the numerical pad on my M9.
For those that are not familiar with the feature you simply start pressing the key pad numbers that correspond with a contacts name.
Each character has letters associated with it, e.g.: 2 - ABC, 3 - DEF, etc; so if I want to call 'Adam' I start by typing 232...
The only pain point with this excellent feature is if I accidentally press on the CALL button, rather than the contact details then the literal number that I have typed will be called, i.e.: in the case of the 'Adam' example above the number 232 will be called.
This fact unto itself is not a game changer, however every time that I accidentally click on CALL, and a literal number is called it makes it harder to bring a contact up. So once again using the 'Adam' example; when I type 232 - instead of seeing contact details for Adam I instead see 232! The only way around this is to type the fourth character for the contact, e.g.: instead of 232 I now need to type 2326.
And of course if I accidentally click on CALL when 2326 is entered then it is even harder again to bring up my 'Adam' contact; I then have to start typing a surname as well as a given name!!!
This has made it impossible to use the handy feature on some of my contacts. I have tried deleting the cache for the 'Phone' app in the hope of clearing the call history / memory, but this didn't work.
Is there any way to completely erase the key pads history?
Any help would be fantastic.
Kind Regards,
Davo
There's a tab called "call history" in the dialer app (unless you disabled it). There you can tap onto the three dot menu and choose "delete call history". The phone lets you chose which entries you want to delete, then.
Flippy498,
Your a CHAMPION!! Thanks so much
Kind Regards,
Davo
