Please help me with Justflip on Note 2 - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone.
I can't use Justflip to flip to turn on screen on Note 2.
Once I was able to use this feature but I don't know why I can't do so now.
The same is with Auto Screen On. They said on play.google.com that
ISSUES:
1.The software does not guarantee that can be used in each device.
2.When using Proximity sensor does not guarantee auto stop sensor, because in deep sleep just the simple sensor works but cpu is sleeping.
3.Samsung devices may not use g-sensor feature, it doesn't let g-sensor on in screen off.
I don't know why do they disable the g-sensor feature on Samsung?
Do you have the same problem? Please share your idea.
Thank you very much.

having the exact same issue. I found a cab called TurnOffTheLight but haven't had a chance to try it yet.
For me, it would be better if the proximity sensor was off permanently, if possible.

Hi
could you test teh cab and tell us here if that can turn of permanemtly the proximity sensor ?
regards Nolan
TurnOffTheLight works to turn off the backlighting but as soon as you move the phone the proximity sensor kicks in again.
in the app called Advanced Config there is a category for adjusting the threshold of the Light Sensor. Unfortunately I have no idea how to adjust it (it is at 0 now) and/or if adjusting this would affect the proximity sensor. Can someone comment on this?

Proximity Sensor behavior and solution
I am a late comer to this bb! Hey,I thought all the bugs would be worked out by now! My keyboard did not work right, .... and I have had several other problems with the touchpro2. What are the Chinese doing over there? I had programmed many embedded units and microprocessor systems, but, really, how can they mass produce units like these? Too many cooks in the soup? They are leaving their quality control to the general community.
My problem was I use my gps for bicycling, and if I place it in the support case, the proximity sensor would shut off the screen, even though I was not placing a call. The screen would blank and not come back on. I noticed there was no problem if the physical keyboard was opened and also if the unit were held horizontally. It did this all the time, regardless of the app running.
There are two sensors at the top of the unit: proximity sensor and light sensor. This is a problem with the proximity sensor, at the left.
So I just placed duct tape over it. Now it does not blank.

Proximity sensor red faint red light always on now

Proximity sensor red faint light always on now , randomly turned on not sure why....
I have no motion things enabled
I tried turning off proximity sensor for phone
Ive rebooted several times
Ive turned off auto brightness
Im running the stock s3 rom rooted.
Anyone have any ideas how i can fix this?
Hmm.. My quick research of this makes me think you have a rogue app, a sticky setting or a defective sensor.
Let's be sure we're looking at the right thing. Your faint red light is just to the left of the front camera lens, correct? If so, then it's a definite indication that you're proximity sensor is on and constantly taking a reading.
Is it always on, from power on to power off? Or does it turn on once the phone has booted up? Does it stay on long after the screen shuts off during idle?
This sensor is used by motion features and talking functions. Triple check that you don't have 'smart stay' turned on, or one of the other super cool gs3 features enabled. I'd consider turning them all on manually, rebooting and then turning them all off followed by another reboot.
Lastly, take a look at your apps. Any kind of app that involves motion or talking (Voxer, Skype, certain games etc) can activate the proximity sensor and keep it on. A lot of those apps start on boot and never go away. Close them one at a time, or consider uninstalling suspect apps temporarily.
As a hardware test you can install Elixer2 from the play store (for free). Its sensors section allows you to turn the proximity sensor on and off, as well as test the near and far readings. If all else has failed, it might be nice to know that at the very least, your sensor can be turned off.
Report back with results from everything and we'll go from there.

Well i was using Viber, when i turned it off manually, the red sensor light went off. So it must be ab application that is keeping that sensor on all the time. Smart stay does not need proximity sensor and enabling or disabling it causes no change to sensors. Hope this will help ya

Thank you so much for the awesome response. I didn't find any other similar responses on the Internet other then " oh that's just the ir sensor don't worry about it". I too have viber and I believe that was the app causing the issue because of the way it integrates itself with the phone, can't be certain because so many apps updated as of late but it is gone now thankfully.
I get this when I`m in a dark room. The sensor will turn on. The only way to correct it is to restart the phone.
Plausible Solution
I don't know if this works 100% of the time, but it HAS worked for me. Go to your Viber application, menu, and then EXIT the app. Viber seems to be the culprit, so if you find exiting the app manually every time bothersome, you might be better off uninstalling the thing. Click the Thanks button if it helps =p

Disable Proximity Sensor
I´m trying to disable my proximity sensor in GS3. I tried with Hardware Disabler and doesn´t work, and the Elixir2 can´t disable the sensors.
Does anyone know another app to disable the proximity sensor?

[Q] Force-enabling the proximity sensor while the phone is asleep

I use the Gravity Screen app to turn my phone's screen on and off automatically. It works almost perfectly, but I have run into a problem: It seems that the Xperia Arc S disables the proximity sensor automatically when the phone is in deep sleep. This only happens if not connected to a charger though, if I connect the phone, it works perfectly.
My question is: Is it possible to force the phone to keep the proximity sensor on in deep sleep when the phone is running on battery? The app offers several work-arounds, like keeping the cpu awake (not very battery-friendly obviously), or combining the proximity check with a gravity sensor check for the phones position before turning the screen on, but the better solution would be to just enable the sensor.
I have tried creating an empty profile in tasker with the task "stop" and the state set to proximity, then enabled display-off monitoring in Tasker, but sadly this only seems to conflict with Gravity Screen's ability to read the sensor.
This whole thing could possibly also help make pocket mode work more reliably on our phones. I noobishly suspect that this change would have to be made on kernel level?

Proximity Sensor not working?

I've been using Tasker to keep my phone off in my pocket with a combination of 'orientation on right side' and 'proximity sensor' active. Googling a bit, I see some mention about a software upgrade breaking the proximity sensor not long ago.
Anyone know more about it? Sensor seems to work ok when phone is on - maybe it got broken for non-phone things?
(note - turned off double-tap to wake & lift to wake to try to keep phone off when in my pocket)
since s10, proximity sensor is internally controlled only on certain activities. example: phone calls

I was just researching this again & found this, which matches what you say:
The proximity sensor is indeed under the screen and a pixel has to be turned off for it to work properly. This means proximity apps will not work properly any more unless Samsung writes them.
So Samsung turns off a pixel so that the Proximity Sensor can see/work (like during a call) - and that means my Tasker screen off will not work. Wonder if there is a Tasker "if front camera covered".. gonna go look that up now - actually that won't work, would require the camera to always be on.
Hmm.

I was trying to play with the light sensor with no luck - so I stripped my profile down to just Orientation Right Side = off...and it failed. The screen off works when i manually test it in Tasker, not sure why orientation fails too.
Maybe this is for another thread - what the heck are people that keep the phone in their pockets doing? I've read keep screen away from leg which is a pain for me and the flygrip I use on my phone. Must be a better way!

Regarding Proximity Sensor Issues

Hi All,
Just got my new Note 10 plus. She's a beaut!
There has been a lot of questions and complaints about the under screen proximity sensor, which was implemented since Galaxy S10.
Here's my question and my own answers after some testing.
Question: proximity sensor ain't working while dialing/calling. Keep having fake touches by my face.
Answer: from online comments, it seems this has been mostly resolved. How to know is it working? You will get a blinking light beside the front camera.
Question: Always On Display(AOD) does not auto turn off in pocket or laying down.
Answer: I think what's happening here is that the new implementation for under screen proximity sensor introduced a new way to actually use it, such as a new API call to turn it on and such. When they did this, all existing samung apps/functionalities or even 3rd party apps that utilize proximity sensor now gets screwed. Samsung is not retarded enough to forgot about the most important app to fix, which is the default dialer app.
However, they forgot to fix/update for other default functionalities, such as the AOD app, the pocket accidental touch app, and etc.
As of now, November, my note 10 plus has the dialer and the accidental touch working. The AOD however does not, is still bugged and does not work with the proximity sensor.
Let's pool together and submit bug reports to samsung regarding AOD and proximity sensor. And hopefully they fix it for the s10 and the note 10
