Hello all! I've been lurking for quite a while, but when I tried to post this in the thread for CNA for CDMA PrimoC's, I was told I didn't meet the post count, so here goes.
I'm using CNA. Build claims to have emoji support, but so far I haven't been able to send or receive emojis from other Android users or iPhones. It's not a huge deal, but I was excited to be able to try it out. I've narrowed it down to this:
Wrong GApps package
I'm enabling something that is interfering with something else
On my Nexus 7 there's an option under "Text Correction" labeled "Add-on dictionaries". This selection allows me to download the emoji dictionary. My OneV does not have "Add-on dicitonaries" under "Text Correction".
Am I doing something wrong? Am I just stupid? Can anybody point me in the right direction?

Tried it. This makes messages that I receive that have emojis show up with a space between each letter, a doubled space between each word, and a box instead of an emoji. I think I'm just going to play around with another ROM.

Hi all.
When i spellcheck my emails, the spellchecker takes-up so much of the screen that i can't see the word that is supposedly spelled incorrectly. What that means is; I can't see what word I'm about to replaced with one of the proposed spellings.
Does anyone know how to make it so that the spellchecker allows me to see both my originally spelling as well as the list of proposed correct spellings?
Sorry if this is unclear. I'm happy to try rephrasing if need be?
Thanks
-jm
Does no one else have this problem? If I'm just missing something obvious, please tell me.
I use my TP2 for business email (as i'm sure most of us do) and I really can't afford to send messages without spellchecking. Given the issue i'm having, running spellcheck is extremely painful.
thx.

Yup, I have this problem too, noticed it last night.. together with the TAB key being missing off the keyboard... and the two locations required to switch in Delivery reports...
As for a solution, I don't know of one except getting rid of the touch flow... which im tempted to do - as once you get past the pretty'ness its "pretty" useless!
Alternate solution :
* To have both "Touch Flo 3D" and "the standard Windows Mobile menus"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\GWE\Menu]
"CUIHandler"=dword:00000000
With the standard menus you see the text while spell checking, and you still keep touch flo (which I do find helps when using the TP2 as a one hand phone).

HarveyR, *thank you* for replying with that suggestion. I'm going to try that tonight and report back.
Harvey,
That worked like a dream... thanks so much!!
At the risk of looking a gift horse in the mouth; can you tell me if there's any way to resize the font on the "menu" now?
What i means is, when composing a new message, if i click the "menu" button, the font is HUGE which means i have to scroll vertically to see all the options on that menu. Do you know if that font can be set to something smaller? If so, how do i do that?
thanks again Harvey.

There is a lot of speculation and conflicting reports of how voice-to-text was implemented on the Desire. After reading every thread related to v2t, Im still totally confused
If you already have a handset, could you please tell us what the real story is with voice-to-text? No speculation, rumours etc please! If you are lucky enough to already have one, please help by answering these 2 questions?
1) Is voice-to-text available as a 'general' text input (in place of the on-screen keyboard)? I know there is a thread on how to enable it using an alternative keyboard but that's not what Im asking.
2) Is it available on all versions (unlocked, T-Mobile, Orange??)
To assist with getting a definitive answer to the second question, please include the carrier/store you bought your handset from.
Thanks in advance for your help!!
initially i thought this thread was about how good voice to text was, but then read your post. So i'll comment on both.
I got my desire direct from t mobile, and voice to text was not a function i could find. It wasn't until i downloaded the keyboard app referenced in other posts, and then switched to android keyboard instead of the stock htc keyboard, that i could find and use speech to text. I presume that the speech to text button was always present on the android keyboard and the extra keyboard app only activated the function which wasn't working before. However, as i only found out how to activate the android keyboard after i downloaded the extra keyboard app, I can't be too sure.
I can only issume that it would be the same for the generic ROM and other network ROM users. But from hearing about the people who have received the OTA update it seems that speech to text function may be changing or being disabled. I definitely hope not, though.
I used speech to text for half of this message. It seems to be working really well for me, despite what a lot of other people are saying. It's definitely not perfect, but i can see it as a function i will use often. I look forward to it getting better, and hope it will stay on the desire.
I miss the ability to type someone's name and have it quickly find their number. CAn this be done in CyanogenMod 6?
I don't think so. Download Dialer One.
BB15, Thank you. That's perfect.
I love XDA
What he said. (Thanks!)
Such a useful feature.
What about the keyboard with quick auto-correct suggestions and long-press secondary characters that came stock on Sprint Hero?

Ya, me too
I've been using Dialer One since my Hero, love it
I dont think I could find a better community to learn a new os with.
Super Thanks!!!! I was wondering about this too. Thanks to the reply and thanks for asking the question.
You can always use the search button on the bottom right. Start typing the contacts name and the matching contacts pop up as you type

This thread has got me thinking. I like to avoid redundancy. For the second time in a week I have stopped using an app I've loved for 6 months. I'm going without Dialer One until further notice. Follow my tweets for updates on my Dialer One status.. kidding..
I knew in the back of my mind a search would include your phones content.. and I long press and voice dial frequently but I hadn't thought of tapping search and swyping a contacts name to call them. FYI, tap your contacts' icon not their info.
nvm, wrong thread, sorry

I am using SwiftKey Beta (available in the market). Works great and offers suggestions for the next word too!
I have been using the new gesture keyboard and it is frustrating me that when I type swear words I cannot add them to the dictionary so everytime I use them I have to type them all out. Is there anyway to fix this?
If you go into:
Settings->Language & input->Personal dictionaries
You can select your personal dictionary and add words there.
I cannot add "F***" through this method. What do they think we are, bunch of kids.
I know there is an option to block offensive words, make sure its not checked. But i still think there are words you cannot store. Maybe come up with something else clever to say when you feel like cursing. How about "banana eatin cretin"?

I can add that word just fine. What is the actual error message you see?
If you go through the settings>language and keyboard you can add custom entries to the dictionary. I added a whole slew of filthy obscenities, and they come up just fine now via gesture typing.
Anyone wanna share lol? Can't be bothered to type them all in.

Hi Guys,
Not sure if I'm posting in the right place, 1st post here!
Ok so, in the instant message notification preview from say Whatsapp, if I recieve one message then it will display the text of the message, but as soon as a second text comes in, it displays "2 new messages". What I would like to achieve is to instead of it showing "2 new messages", it would instead stack the messages underneath each other in the preview. I have seen this feature in IIRC vijendrahs' VJ CM10.1 Rom, as well as Team Venom's ViperX 3.6.0 Rom for the HTC One X, so I know it is possible.
What I am asking is if anyone knows in which .apk file (and even better where in that file), I can find these settings, or if anyone could at least point me in the right direction where I might be able to find this info?
Thanks in advance!
I am running fred_be9300's mod of coolexe's Cool Droid v3 Rom.
Those notifications only work on JB, and not sure about ICS. You can't have them on GB.
Oh ok, and there is no way to reverse engineer copy paste code or anything like that?

Yeah sure its possible to do if you had vast knowledge of developing android and a few days to back port pointless features.
