Hi all,
I have been compiling a dual boot kernel for the note 2.
I flashed it yesterday, and the Ext sd card was not working with it.
I then flashed a stock boot.img and the ext sd worked.
I have reflashed the kernel I made today, but now I cant get the videos on the ext sd card to show up in the stock video player. they wont show up in the stock or google play video player.
I have tried restoring a cwm backup, reflashing boot.img, flashing stock with odin, ect. but nothing works.
The videos show up in Mobo player, but I really need the Stock video player.
Can someone please help me figure this out, as its really annoying me.
if I use a file explorer to find the videos, I can then play them from the stock video player.
Thanks
Cheers
Corey
I have just pluged the phone in to my pc to copy all the stuff of it so I could format the ext sd to see if that would fix it, and now it's working. So I guess plugging it in to the pc must have done something
Cheers

Hi..
I got some music and stuff on my SD card, but in the music player everything is twice, and I don't know why..
I had the Desire connected to my PC and checked, the files are only on the card once.
I tried searching for one of the files in Astro, and found that the "clone" is in /mnt/sdcard
So I have the files for my whole SD card twice? But.. Mounted somehow..
Is there a way for me to unmount this, or what should I do?
Thanks in advance
Well.. I tried formatting my SD card..
It did not help, in fact it made it worse, making my phone stay at the boot screen and never get past it..
I then formatted it again, making a new ext3 partition too, and moved my Nandroid to it, backing up from that.. Now.. I'm the same place as I where before
Nobody has a solution?
i dont suppose you are using mybackuppro to restore your music playlist? or any other backup program?
i was doing this and it would cause the music in the music player to appear as double even though there werent any duplicates in the sd card

Well, actually I did when I upgraded from Eclair to Froyo..
What to do then?
Like the title says, I suddenly found out after I couldn't see any songs or albums in Winamp. Then I tried the stock player, same thing.
They're still there, I can see them with ASTRO and when I connect it to my PC.
I can play the songs through ASTRO, but when the player starts up there's no info on the song at all.
I tried PowerAmp (which does a search on the SD card for mp3s) and that works with most of the albums, some are missing cover artwork.
Also my alarm clock can't detect mp3s, same as my running app cardiotrainer. It's the same when I try to put an mp3 as a ringtone.
Firstly the standard HTC Desire ringtones could not be read either, but I got them to show up again, during my attempt to fix this, which I will go through below.
When I try to open up the mp3s through a program (custom ringtone or stock mp3 player) it says "No musicfiles or SD card is available" (translated from my Danish Desire OS).
I can't see my pictures or videos through my camera or gallery apps, but when I take a new picture it shows up as the only one I got.
-----------------------------------------------
What I've tried:
Rebooting lots of times, of course.
Changing the name of my mp3 folder.
Searching for a ".nomedia" file, or similar "." but finding nothing.
Using the app "SDrescan".
I connected the phone to my PC, right click and select properties. Then tools - error checking. Run with automatically fix file system errors checked.
It ran the error check and said there were some errors and it has been fixed. When I run it again it says no errors were detected.
Did a nandroid restore.
---------------------------------------------
Possible causes:
I am rooted, running the newest Leedroid.
Yesterday I did a complete nandroid backup and titanium backup, and copied the whole SD to my computer drive. I also wiped my battery stats.
That's all I did.
Do you tried to put some new songs to see if they appear on the music player? Maybe it is just a corrupted database for the older entries.
Maybe the stock android media scanner is broken.. Try a nandroid and a full wipe with a fresh install of your ROM, if it does not fix the problem, restore the nandroid backup..
How much % is free. This can be a problem if it's to little.

I tried to put a brand new mp3 on there, but it can't see that one either. On the other hand, when I take a new picture with the camera, that single new picture is visible.
On the SD card 3,44 GB are free. Internal free is about 71 MB, but I've done the A2SD+.
I've tried to do a nandroid restore, with the nandroid backup I made Tuesday, when it was still working.
I guess there's nothing else to try than to do a complete wipe and install a fresh ROM.
I can't really figure out why it would do this all of a sudden.
If you have a mac use disk utility to repair your card - if not format you card - move all data back on after your done - see if that works
How do I format the card?
Is it the thing where I go into ROM Manager and under utillities, select Patition SD card?
I tried to format the SD card, through menu->settings->sd card->format
After it was formatted I put all the SD stuff back from my backup on my PC, and the mp3 could still not be seen at all.
Something strange with the pictures though. In my gallery app I could see all my picture folders except for the main one where new pictures are saved to.
So I try to connect it to my PC again, and switch one of the pictures from the main folder over to one of my self-made folders to see if it would show up there.
I disconnect from the PC and let the SD card mount again, and now it's back to where I can see no pictures at all. I try to put the picture back again, but still; no pictures at all.

I have a backup of my SD and moved it all back, no problems.
The only other way of formatting I know (besides doing it through the phone) is using this guide:
1. Go into the ROM Manager app.
2. Under utillities, select Patition SD card.
3. Select 512MB for both cache and EXT3
4. This will re-format your SD card.
Is that the same (as good as) using gparted as you suggested? I don't know about gparted.

I just think that using a PC / Mac gives you more control over the format etc... linux swap etc... No doubt rom mamanger should suffice but if you do have a corrupted SD card often PC's can handle it better
Tbh if you have repaired your card that usually fixes these sorts of problems for me ... have you got another SD card to try!?

Why didn't I think to try this myself?!
I do have another SD card, and just tried it... and it works! I even tried putting in a new mp3 and it can see it.
Do you think I should just do a rom manager format, or should I jump into the PC way of a format?
I am a big noob btw, so if you think the PC way of formatting my SD card is better, could I ask you to write down a noob-friendly guide maybe?
I've just done the rom manager partition format, and tried to put an mp3 and a few pictures on my SD card, and it works!
Now I'm in the process of putting my SD backup back on my SD card, and I'll write back later if it all works after that.
If not ur card is screwed lol.. I'd be surprised if that didn't work!! Formatting usually cures SD card probs ... if u ever get read only error just repair ur card no need for format for that... just for future reference ... I'm a bit nooby too tbh, lots to learn lol

I just finished copying all of the backup onto my SD card and... now it doesn't work again!!! Same problem!
Why don't you buy a new card? I got a class 6 16 Gb for £20 ... so there cheap enough for all the hassle?
Try formatting on a Mac or PC.. I use gparted from CD I burnt but there are plenty of others around. If not tbh I'm not sure where you go from there.. if you have a backup everything should be fine lol
Edit - so can I clarify do either of your cards work properly?

Oh my god... I just found a ".nomedia" file in the root of my SD card... if that's it I will feel very stupid.
I have formatted 3 times now, transferring the stuff back again now.
Yup, that was the problem
I feel so stupid, but thanks for all your help.
LOL .... well at least you learnt something
hey guys!
I upgraded my version to DEFY 2.3.4rc1v2 and after that the PC does not identify the SD card more.
Nor am I able to put songs as MP3 ringtones.
Anyone have any tips?
thanks
Did u try a different card ?
Also if that doesn't work try to flash nightly's builds, they get regularly updated and i myself find them more stable then RC1...
There is no need to flash a nightly, stay away from them if you do not know what you're doing.
You should check if you chose filetransfer mode on your phone, otherwise you won't see the sd when connected to your computer. If you still can't see the sdcard, try fysically unplugging it from your phone and put it directly in your computer. Then check the disk for errors using gparted.

Hi everyone
I have a problem with my Sd card not properly being seen by any Rom at the moment. I noticed it when I flashed the new virtuous sense 4 Rom, as I couldn't view any of my pictures in the gallery and also no music can be found in any music app.
I decided to return to my backed up Rom which was runny suprise and the same problem occurred even though I had no issues before back up. I also tried a couple of others too.
I always full wipe between roms and just wondered why this has happened, have I pressed something in recovery or is my Sd card faulty? I can view my old photos by using my file explorer and selecting view with gallery and also listen to music this way also by using the native music player.
Any advice would be handy before I buy a new Sd card and start all over again.
In settings/storage it still tells me how much space I have on the Sd card so I'm not sure what's happend.
Hope someone can help. Thanks in advance.

I posted a solution for this in another thread, it seems that this is a repeated question.
For those of you that encounter problems of having trouble finding your gallery and music, but yet those files are still in you SD card
Follow instructions below:
1. Plug your phone to your PC
2. Use the search function on your PC and search your SD card for ".nomedia"
3. Delete all
4. Reboot your phone
TADA!!!
Hi
Thanks for the info but didn't help. I searched and deleted all .nomedia files then reboot but no luck

Heck, I don't know. Did you make a backup of your whole sd card, format it, then transfer everything back?
Are there any .nomedia files in the sd card?

yes, this is what i did
1. full wipe using recovery n ARHD full wipe.zip
2. install rom
3. format SD card in rom n recovery
4. wipe cache in recovery
5. reboot
6. create a new folder in SD card n copy back the contents. i try to avoid copying the folder
7. search for nomedia files, mainly only found in whatsapp folder n clockworkmod folder. i deleted but everytime it just comes back
8. i have search for hidden folders n files too but no more nomedia files
WTH is happening? i install Jellytime, only his rom have problem. before i format my SD card, i full wipe n install icecold sandwich, there is no problem at all
Make sure you don't have Rom manager which is included in some roms

You've really got to start putting a brief description of your problem in the title as you have been told multiple times... i.e. [Q] Lost music files from my SDCard.
Okay, try plugging your phone into a computer or take your sdcard out and plug it into a card reader and see if the music is there.
I tried it but I don't see my music.
