Is your battery not lasting all day? - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

I just wanted to post this. I seen a reply yesterday that changing roms too much messes up your battery syncing. So I tried myself. Yesterday after 4 hours I was down to 50 percent with my phone under clocked. As you can see, today was far different.
The fix I read was to remove your battery for 5 minutes after you flash a rom. I also did a complete recharge and then played games till 1 percent b4 recharge.
Hope this helps somebody out there, I was sick of my battery life. I am sure others may be as well.

Mine is horrible now on pacman. I think my battery may be swollen but I'm not sure. But try depleting battery to shut off. Then keep phone off and charge to full, then unplug and deplete and repeat once more. I'm going to try it, I know it worked on older smart phones.

Well one way to find out if it is swollen in put it on a flat surface and spin it if it spins guess what its swollen. Try it in both sides

Yeah it does a little that's why I brought it up. I go to the military in 2 weeks. But I might just buy a 4200M battery for the hell of it.

Well here is another shot. Yea I agree...trying to re sync the battery brain sounds good and I will try it as well. I will say, this is already a ton better. And it is my first real charge cycle. Tomorrow may be a touch better.

That battery life is horrible...there's something wrong with the phone

Signing out of Facebook and Google talk have increased my battery life by 4 hours. I get about 18 hours with mild use on 4.2 Alpha 2 with Exit_Only's tweaks.

It is way Better than the 6 to 8 hours we were getting. Yea, it is not the greatest, but at least it gets us through a day away from a charger.

Mine doesn't spin that bad. But you exaggerated a little, you didn't even really spin the red one.

I'm neither the first guy or last guy to say this, but, if you're not getting decent battery life ...... try a new battery.
I stubbornly believed that my batteries were in great shape until I broke down and dropped $18 on an Amazon vendor for a pair of Anker 1800mah batteries and a wall charger. The next day my battery life went from 6 hours to 16+ hours.

Believe it or not I can go up to 7 hours before hitting 75%. But, data is off most of the time while I work and I would consider my phone usage to be between moderate and light.

I did the same thing to the red one as the silver one. The Oem battery spun because it's bulging. My bulging battery still lasts pretty long though. The emphasis was to show people how it looks because I keep seeing them ask how much a bulging one spins.

I was having probs with my batt life only getting about 8 to 9 hours with only 45 min screen on time. My phone would literally shut off on the ride home from work. I stopped by sprint repair to get a new one and they told me no. So then i went to a store down the street and they told me that all batts have a year warranty even replacements and that the repair center is wrong. SO i had to call sprint, got a new one in the mail 2 days later. Now im getting about 16hrs with 3 screen on and its a refurb. So if u r under the year mark u r entitled to a new battery.

I went to the Sprint store today. I gave them my phone because they needed it to see why my phone was dying so much (my phone was on PACMan, so I was sort of worried). But I went next door too subway and came back in 10 minutes later and he was still working on it Ann's I needed to go so I asked for it back. He asked for my password because I have the 6x6 screen lock. He knows I was rooted, if not he's an idiot. But anyways, he says he sees the bulge but the battery tested fine and he needs me to give him my password and leave my phone in there for 4 hours. Sorry, not happening.

Yea. As long as it can get u thru the day before you need a charge than NO, I would not leave my phone as well.

btw when i got it yesterday i let the battery run all the way down then charged it all the way back up it at around 1 yesterday central time ran it all the way down and charged it all the way back up around 7 pm and it's still on the same charge. and i have been using the hell out of it (no 4g though)
I only got 7.5 hrs today
I got 12 hours today, HOWEVER, 8 of those hours were with music playing none stop and 1 hour of internet while music was playing. Didn't touch a charger once. My EVO, rooted with godmode and freedom kernal still had to be charged at lunch to last throughtout my 10 hour shift.
I love this phone.
I had a weird issue just now. Battery was at 26 percent. Did a reboot by holding the power button down for 8 seconds or whatever it is. When it booted back up about 30 seconds later i had 10 percent battery. anyone else have this happen?

Since today was back to work day I decided to test the ET in a "real world usage scenario." All radios were on, including Bluetooth and Moar-Geez. I had sync enabled and hourly, including a push E-mail account. During the "beefy part," of the day, meaning 8am - 3pm, I was using moderate to heavy. During the downtime between 2pm - 5pm, I was using heavily and from 5pm - 8pm, there was moderate usage. So, I came home and right before plugging the phone into the charger I was at 40% battery on 15 hours. I am stoked. It is good. Zen.
You guys should calibrate your battery. Let the phone charge to 100%, run the app, unplug your phone.
This will wipe your battery stats and SHOULD give you a pretty accurate description of where you stand. We did flash a new kernel, and that can take some time for the system to get used to it. That's what I've learned from my Evo anyways.

This happened to me, but it went from about 45% to 20% after I reset. However, it took for ever for it to go down to 19%, 18% and I still had about 17% when I plugged it in around 11p.m. after taking off the charger around 7:30a.m. That was with a little over 3 hours of on screen time. I was surfing the web, about 100 texts, xda, about 10 mintues of vid games. I had skype running in the back ground most of the day. I had Wifi on all day and connected about 90% of the time. I didn't have GPS, 4G, or Bluetooth on. That's pretty damn good. I think the drop must have been a software issue.....?
from 7:30am - 12:48, I'm currently @ 72% from full charge.
Not as good as i hoped it would be.
Could it be from Launcher Pro?
my evo 4g would get to 50% from 7:30-5:30.
I dont have my 4g or bluetooth conected. just 3g data.
Not too good from me. 2h49m screen time only have 20% left ....

My battery life has been killer since day 1. Unplugged Saturday night at 8pm and when I woke up on Monday morning I was at 5% left. Over a day of use is amazing compared to my old hero and the evo 3d I test drove for a month.
Amazon?
Out of curiosity, do the people who get astoundingly good battery life have Amazon's app store installed?
On my Evo 4G I used to sometimes get up to 48 hours on a charge. Then it went down considerably and I could never figure out why. Even a new battery didn't work. I uninstalled a bunch of my key background apps like Settings Profiles but they didn't do the trick either.
The Amazon App Store runs poorly at best. Thus I always wondered if it could be the culprit.
Coming from the OG Epic, the ET's battery life is amazing. I haven't yet needed to reboot my phone due to the battery problems I've been hearing about. *knocks on wood*

AMAZING battery life!

I am completely amazed at the battery life I'm getting on this phone! Considering what a powerful device it is I would have been quite happy with getting about 12-15 hours out of it but ever since I loaded in the ROM and recent OTA update I have consistently got 2+ days of what I'd consider to be light use.
I'm running Calkulin's 2.0.1a ROM+included kernel, EK02 modem, and I also have Tiff's Nothin but the Honey v5.0 theme.
I attached an image of the battery stats page so y'all can see I aint lyin'!
Anyone else get this kinda battery life out of their E4GT?
Yeah I am getting pretty amazing battery life after calibrating properly and running blazer from 2.0. When i leave it on standby at 100 it only drops to like 80% after 24 hours. Love this phone!

Another battery life thread...

So I've done my searching around. I really want a definite answer. My HTC Droid Incredible has ****ty battery life, to put it nicely. I can manage AT MOST 2 hours screen on time with no wifi (this is because I have unlimited data with Verizon). Battery life is a big priority with me when it comes to phones.
For the LTE Galaxy Nexus, what's the most screen on time you can get with 4G? And how much longer can you get if you disable 4G?
Also, if you were a Droid Incredible owner, how do they compare?
The incredible was my previous phone and I actually thought the battery life was pretty decent. I can get between 2.5 - 3.5 hours of screen on time with my Nexus. I usually keep 4G disabled as I don't need a 20 meg connection to sync my Gmail. On 4G you will probable get the same screen on time as the Inc.

I just upgraded from the incredible. It's much better than the stock incredible battery (which quite frankly was unusable)... not as good as the seido extended battery I used for most of the time I had my incredible (that battery was actually overkill.. when new I would get almost 3 days.. lol)
I have no problems making it through the day with moderate usage (which I was not able to do on the stock incredible battery)
its funny with the extended battery i get around 10 hours, maybe 11 and the original battery is giving me around 13-14 hours, 3G on both, don't know what is going on.

EXTREME Battery Loss (CM9)

Greetings!
I am currently using a Sprint Epic 4g (SPH-D700) with ICS (CM9-epicmtd) and the regular Cyanogenmod kernel. I have followed the guides on here and on the CM9 forums for battery life including blacklisting certain apps, changing settings, messing around with performance settings, etc. With all of that, I usually get around a 4 hour battery with normal use (Spotify Music, GVoice Messaging, Occasional Reddit App), during school I have to charge it every other class or else it will die. I have become used to carrying my charger around but I think I figured something out so I wanted to know your ideas on it.
At home, I only use Wifi, I turn off 3g access. I can get 8hour battery at home. But right as I turn on 3g, I get MAJOR battery drain and the phone gets extremely hot.
I just wanted to know, is it the phone? The battery? The OS?
Thanks
-Dier

It will show you what processes/apps are eating battery. I'd also suggest you do a dry run with turning off all sync/streams/data usage for a day or so to see how the battery reacts. Chances are good that you also have an old battery.

Didn't wanna make a whole new thread so I hope this would be the right place to post this since I also want to know "is it the phone, the battery, or the os?" lol.
I'm having terriblee battery results with my phone. Its been happening for like 3 weeks now and I thought the reason was because my batteries got wet (I have like 5 batteries, 4-1500 mAh, and 1-1800mAh). They all die pretty quick I can get about 2-2 1/2 hours of screen time in about 12-14 hours. Which is terrible cuz I have screenshots that I randomlly took of my battery from before and there's times where I would get 4hrs of screen time on in about 20 hours total or I could go about 30 hours with 3 hours of on screen time. I've tried different ROMs and even odined to stock and tested things out and still my phone dies super quick.
My questions:
When the battery has water damage the little paper tab thingy turns pink right? What if it is removed completely?
And is there anyway that my phone just isn't working right because of having damaged battery?
Because right now I'm using a 3500 mAh battery and I'm getting almost the same results that I used to get with my 1500 mAh ones.
Does anyone know anything I could try to see what happens lol?

Sprint Note 2 battery is a beast!

I put around 6-7 hours of screen time yesterday and still had battery left. Also it looks like the radios they are using are very efficient with very little battery drain.
Nothing scientific to report, but this morning I've used 3 hours of screen time and still have 66% battery left.
Love it!
I am happy to report similar findings. 4 hours screen time and im at 30% battery with 20 hours without a charge.
I don't know why but the radio's are definitely doing better than my S3. I'm picking up Lte more often and its not jumping back and fourth either. So far showing the same as far as battery, maybe even better.

Even with all the bloat? That's pretty great

The Note is known for great battery life. I've seen some people even get 10hours.. I get 5 hours screen time on mines and 14-17 hours of usage

Unbelivable battery on any phone ive come across. No wifi at all and use nothing but 3g and lil 4g to stream movies/drama at my rate im looking to get 5+ screen on time. Thats to me is unbelivable. So far 2:40 hr screen on and still have 58% left. Total time is at a lil over 7. Betterbatterystats say 6% per hour.
3 hours of heavy usage only down 10% with screen brightness halfway up. I feel like its too good to be true... someone is finally getting something right!

Got my Note 2 yesterday and used it most of the day then charged it overnight. Used it off and on today and still sitting on 77%. So much better than my OG EVO was. Im really loving this device!

Don't get me wrong OG Evo was great at the time but battery on that thing is horrendous. I have to carry a case with 4 extra batteries, lol.
Yeah I bought mine on day 1 and was trying to wait till the next nexus device came out but I sat on my evo and cracked the glass. Anyway very happy with my purchase and I've been riding this phone hard and still at 58%. I know its a 3100 ma battery which is double the evo but I never expected it to do this well on the battery. Very pleased thus far.

I believe that. My 6hrs of screen time was me trying to put it through the ringer.
I can't wait for roms with battery tweaks. We might see 2days of screen time.

So far I'm at 1 day 6 hours, (2 hours screen on) and I'm down to 56%. I'm really impressed, and this offsets the sourness I feel with the crippled SIM/wireless charging. Heck, who needs to even charge this thing with battery life like that!?
What really impresses me is the fact that I've been out several times today - yet the battery graph is perfectly steady. Whereas every other phone I've had immediately starts plummeting when I'm on the go and it has to switch towers, etc. I can always take one look at a graph or SystemPanel and know exactly when I was out, but not with this phone. :good:
Samsung really must have done something good with the radio in this thing.

On wifi quite a bit of the time, but still very happy with the battery. Includes gmail email sync, default mail client syncing an imap account every 15 minutes, about 2 hours of podcasts and music, 20 minutes of voice calls, and other misc stuff. No video.
I picked up my Note 2 on Friday, and charged it that night. Saturday morning at 10:00am I disconnected it. I have turned off wifi and SCO so it was running on 3g all day, I decided to not charge it Saturday night to test the battery to see how long I could go without charging. I went a full 48 hours on one charge and still had 11% at 10:00am on Monday. I didn't have heavy use on it, but spent a couple hours browsing the internet and Facebook, as well as 2 hours of Draw Something off an on. Very impressed. I didn't think to take any screenshots, sorry.
