extract the boot.img from the cm rom and flash it via fastboot. another thing, are you sure that cm kernel is compatible with your rom? and cm has its own color control included in its rom, will your color control app be compatible with cm kernel?

trinity kernel has color control options too, and more vivid default colors. but trinity has its color control implimated differently than cm. its color control is more compatible with other roms than cm.

After flashing codename android 3.3.1 changing the color settings I.e gamma and multipliers all is good. I recently switched to glados then Franco then popcorn kernel. All of which say they allow color multiplier tuning. But in rom control its faded out.
Anybody know why or how to enable this through the kernel any help would be appreciated

I know with Trinity there are commands that can be issued through terminal, not sure of the one you mentioned, but the easiest way would be through the apps made to tune each specific kernel.
Yeah I figured but Trinity doesn't play nice with my phone and as much as I would love to support the devs I have no money to give yet. But what's the point of the rom control settings to adjust that when they can't. Maybe something in the kernel is stopping the settings from modifying the values?

ROM control probably only works with the default kernel.
Yeah probably wonder why seems to work in cyanogen or is it because they add something to there source to allow that do you know

Not all kernels support the CM type colour controls.
Try Faux or Lean kernel if you want to use the ROM colour controls. If not download and install the free Trickster Mod app and it should allow you to control colour on most kernels.

hey guys im making this thread only to request some of the amazing devs to take up miui and cook it for us, i personally love the rom so much since the days of moto milestone n nexus s, we are spoilt for choices in aosp roms and i just hope we get few miui roms
would like your comments what do you guys think
im using the latest miui 2.12.7 from miuiandroid.com and its as fast as any aosp rom and even the lockscreen lag has gone, just hoping for a cooked miui !!!
Why would I want to make my phone look like an iphone?

you can use nova and make it look like pure android, but there are other small little things which make this rom very different n enjoyable

So what exactly are you asking for? You want MIUI roms, you're using one that's "as fast as any AOSP". Seem's to me like an open and shut case.

im asking for twekaed miui roms, like how aosp roms are tweaked and devs make them faster and add features
for example stuff like -
- insecure boot image
- 3-way reboot
- 30-step music volume control
- odexed for maximum performance
- volume rocker wake settings

This is in any rom that has root installed and allows for advanced as commands. It's a simple ramdisk edit (edit default.prop). It's very easy to do with the dsixda kitchen.

Odex doesn't do anything except for first boot. On first boot (or clearing dalvik-cache) it speeds up dexopt process. After that it's like any other rom, odexed or deodexed.

The main problem we are ( nexus family) always latest version than any other devices. But miui always one or two version down..
That's why most of people not like MIUI.
Even i am big fan of miui when i was Galaxy s 2.

Hmmm point, but thsoe points i mentioned are just examples .. each dev cooks a rom in his own way so all i said was it wud b great to have a modded miui rom
If I have 5 cents everytime.
http://roms.miui.us
i love miui.us roms than miuiandroid roms...........only due to miui.us toolbox............
but miui.us galaxynexus roms has been stuck in 2.11.9.............others i.e miuiandroid etc are in 2.12.30 at present...........
even miui.us has devoloped 2.12.7 roms for nexus 0ne and nexus s........but no development for galaxynexus
currently i'm using miui.us 2.11.9 rom.....
Hi there.
I'm using the PARANOIDANDROID 3.0 (Feb09) rom with the latest franco kernel. FTR, I do wanna try other kernels also, but I have troubles with three things:
1) I cannot find with which kernels is the PA3 rom compatible with
2) I have no idea with "what" to control the kernel - with that I mean: CPU clock speed, GPU speed, etc. etc.
3) is here something like "touchwake" (that option I had on my Nexus S in the Matr1x kernel) for the Galaxy Nexus? I heard of something called PGM but would like if it is more like kernel-included than a separate app
Thanks

ive been using AOKP for the last 2-3 phones. love the customization but i hate the slow speed. i could just try every single rom but why not just ask the community since im sure someone knows what rom i should be looking at
can anyone suggest a rom that offers the following without compromising speed?
- center clock
- circle battery mod
- cpu clock, io scheduler and governor adjuster
- gamma and multiplier adjuster
- reboot menu
- lockscreen weather
features id prefer but could live without:
- use volume button to move cursor
- some sort of quick torch
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2924142
I'm on sourcery exp 5.13 and its smooth and snappy.

Any rom that incorporates AOKP features has the features you listed above. Take the Pacman rom, it has PA, AOKP, and CM merged. :good:
I have JellyBeer 4.1.0 on my Galaxy Nexus -- it has the ability to do the things you have in your "must do" list. It's got a bit of 4.2.2, CM10.X and PA. I've enjoyed it so far.
Disclaimer: I am a n00b! I recently unlocked and rooted by GNex... and JellyBeer4 is my first custom ROM flashed to my phone!
What arianR10 said. Pretty much every ROM other than CM, and probably with the exception of Paranoid Android since it has tablet mode options, are almost identical with other small tweaks and enhancements. Almost any ROM you switch to, will probably feel the same and have all the same options. I personally use Carbon ROM. Its seriously the fastest, smoothest ROM I have used. some of the things you mentioned though, depends on the kernel you use and not really ROM specific.
i tried
rasbean (no options)
vanir (quick but not many options)
ak47 (seems buggy, though its new)
aospa (way too slow for me)
pac (again, too slow.. i think having pa/cm/aokp in one rom slows things down)
i think i tried a few others but no luck
ill keep rom hopping til i find one im comfortable with. thanks
It's good to see that this phone is still so well supported. lent mine with CM10 to a friend. Can't wait to get it back!
Any ROM based on Stock will be very fast. For some reason AOSP ROMs are slow.

You can try my ROM which is in my signature.. D
It's based of Stock Google's Android JB 4.2.2 (Takju)
Stock kernel, but I may change the kernel to CM's kernel, then it's possible to adjust gamma and some other things..
But my ROM doesn't have center clock yet.. I have also tried to get CM's circle battery but no luck, I always get errors.. but I have included another circle battery..
It has CM's Torch app (with widget for homescreen and for lock screen..)
Lock screen weather: (Chronus), but when I have time I try to get CM's cLock (Newer version..)
And when I have time I try to get tablet mode support for SystemUI.apk, Launcher2.apk and for framework-res.apk too..
I used to run XenonHD, it had all the features you specified and more.
Have since moved on to ParanoidAndroid though, never looked back.
i suggest you xylon rom. very good rom with lots of options to customize.

It seems like the best roms now are all CM based, but I miss a couple features from my TW based roms. Mainly I miss KTweaker and being able to overclock my phone, then I really wish I could hold the back key to kill apps. Is there anything like that for CM based roms?
Back to kill is in developer options at the very bottom. Developer options must be enabled by pressing build number 7 times until it is enabled. Overclocking is kernel based and I believe Leankernel and BMS both support this.

I don't see back to kill in developer options. I'm still looking though. Can i change my kernel even after installing a rom?

Yes, there are several kernels you can install, including ktoonzes which includes ktweaker...if you choose BMS, dkp, or lean kernel you can download apps to oc and etc.

Ok the only roms i ever tried that allowed you to pick a kernel were TW based so i didn't know if ktoonzes was only for TW or if anyone could use them. I'm using IllusionRom 2.6 (which is running quite smoothly. Just need to change all the blue icons in the status bar to red lol)
I've tried ktoonzes and leankernel but after flashing both my screen looks all crazy, zoomed in like 1000% and the colors are way off. Idk what i'm doing wrong. Am i not supposed to use the AOSP version with CM?

You have to choose a kernel build from the appropriate date range; the weird color issue was a CM bug from around October 20th if I remember, and it was fixed in the next round of kernel releases. Plus, Illusion doesn't get updated all that often, so you probably need a kernel build, date-wise, that is as close as possible to the build date of your version of Illusion.
I just switched roms to pure bean
Can I use ktoonzes with that?
