F-reset will reset the Flash counter. :good:
Here's what you do:
#1. Flash root66
#2. Run Triangle Away
#3. Boot into download mode and confirm counters say 0, if yes go to #4, if no go to #1
#4. Flash the stock ROM, no root included from here http://stockroms.net/file/GalaxyNote2/SGH-T889/T889UVALJ1_T889TMBALJ1_TMB.zip
#5. Boot into stock recovery and do a factory wipe/reset, then boot normally.

[Q] [HELP]Downgrade to 4.1.1 status modified

Hi, I am trying to downgrade from latest LL7 to 4.1.1 of my Country, but in the status always says modified, even rooting and using triangle away. There's no way to get rid of ''modified'' status. Is the new Bootloader that caused this? How can I resolv this? Somebody could help me?
Thanks!
Why you wanna downgrade ?
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
You need to do a factory reset after flashing the stock rom, then flash the rom again... for a total of twice, to completely get rid of the modified.

Hi Mate,
Flash stock rom once then root it will Chainfire auto root method (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=31801060&postcount=2).
then run the triangle away program to reset the counter.
Now the counter will be OK but now you will have modified status.
Flash the stock rom again and after completing the process boot the phone into stock recovery factory reset the phone and reset the cache too. then reboot the phone, you will have standard samsung wizard and your device status will be back to normal.
Hope that helps you.
Cheers, Sumit
Yes, flash it twice.

[GUIDE] How-To Completely Unroot Your Galaxy SIII |Zero Flash Counter|"Normal" Status

[GUIDE] How-To Completely Unroot Your Galaxy SIII |Zero Flash Counter|"Normal" Status
There are always new threads popping up asking about unrooting, returning to stock firmware, returning flash count to zero, and changing your system "modified" status back to "normal," so I figured I would help eliminate those threads by making one simple guide to get you completely back to out-of-the-box stock.
Let's get started...
1. Download Necessary Files
Odin 3.07
T999(v) Stock Firmware (Choose your carrier)
(T-Mobile) (Latest) UVDLJC JB 4.1.1 SamMobile Link
(T-Mobile) UVDLJA JB 4.1.1 SamMobile Link
(VideoTron) VVLDLL1 JB 4.1.1 SamMobile Link
(Wind) VVLDLL1 JB 4.1.1 SamMobile Link
(Mobilicity) VVLDLL1 JB 4.1.1 SamMobile Link
Triangle Away (download to your phone)
Read the developer's thread if you are unsure about this app
Thread
Play Store
2. Reset Flash Counter
If you have not already done so, install the Triangle Away app that you downloaded from either location above.
Open the app and select "Reset Flash Counter." Your flash counter is now "0" so DO NOT enter custom recovery after this step or your counter will go back to "1".
3. Extract Odin & Your Stock Firmware (skip this step if you know how to do this already)
You should have two files downloaded to your PC, Odin 3.07 and your stock firmware, which should look something like this: T999UVDLJC_T999TMBDLJC_TMB.zip. Both will be .zip files and need to be extracted.
Download 7-Zip.
Right click on each file, select 7-Zip and choose the location for the extracted files.
The correct files can now be found in the location(s) you chose.
4. Odin Stock Firmware
Make sure your phone is unplugged and powered off.
Put your phone into download mode by holding vol down, home, and power simultaneously until you feel a vibration, then release the power button while continuing to hold the vol down and home buttons. Make sure your flash counter shows "No".
Once in download mode, plug your phone into your PC's USB port.
[On PC] Go into the location you extracted your files into, and open Odin 3.07. You should see a highlighted box on the upper left side of Odin - If you don't, download and install Samsung Kies to obtain the correct drivers for your device.
Click the "PDA" button in Odin and locate the tar.md5 file that you extracted earlier.
Once the file is listed in the PDA section of Odin, go ahead and click "Start". This will take a little time. Be patient and leave your phone alone. Once it reboots, it is done.
5. Factory Reset in Stock Recovery (This step is required to ensure "normal" status)
Power off your phone, then press the vol up, home, and power buttons. Hold all three at the same time, when you feel a vibration let go of the power, but keep holding the volume up and center home button.
Select Wipe Data/Factory Reset, then select "Yes". Do the same to wipe cache.
Once Completed, select "Reboot Now"
Your phone is now 100% stock, un-rooted, with a zero flash counter and "normal" status!
perfect post! very, very helpful!

Can you use the root66 images with this method if you're goal is rooted stock?
I'd be coming from the Frosty Jelly Bean ROM.

Since the factory update images are HUGE, any chance to update and post the MD5s for the updates? I don't have a great internet connection so it sometimes randomly disconnects, so a MD5 would be helpful, thanks.

Hold the vol up, home and power buttons, then let go of power once it vibrates. That will bring you into stock recovery. Wipe Data/Factory Reset then reboot.

Thank you OP, so much, for the nice job!
One numb question: I just want to reset flash counter to zero, and change the "modified" status back to "normal"
But I don't want to get back to the stock firmware... you know, it's so full of bloatware.....
Is there any way that I can reset flash counter, set the status to "normal", but still keep the modified ROM (either TouchWiz based or AOSP based)?
Thanks

Flashing anything other than an official tar file in Odin will trip your flash counter. You can flash the root66 file with following all steps in the OP (including factory reset) to have rooted stock with zero flash counter and normal status. But as soon as you freeze any system apps, you will be back to modified status, but will still have a zero flash counter. Your flash counter will be tripped if you flash a custom recovery.

Help, stuck in a boot-loop

I rooted my Note II with SU. I have not flashed any roms, still running stock. The problem is this: I downloaded Triangle Away and reseted counter. Then I uninstalled it, and did a full unroot with SU. Status still said "modified" so I then did a hard reset of the phone. Now, it's stuck in a boot-loop wth the "Samsung Galaxy Note II" logo.
I have no idea what to do, and I guess I had no idea what I was doing. Please help me out!

It should work but if you have the knox flag there will be no reset of it.
You seem to have not upgraded to the mj9 bootloader (one which has 'knox warranty void' message)... check your bootloader via zdevice test app.. if it is 'Dmg1' then you can reset it...

yes it is compatible and it will reset your counter but knox counters will still and status will be modified
whats the point of using triangle on 4.3 knox enabled firmwares ? if the knox counter goes to 01 bye bye warranty ! you can reset the binary counter to 0 but whats the point doing so!
Could someone confirm that i can reset the counter to 0 on a 4.3 (MK4) custom rom with MJ5 bootloader without changing the knox flag to 1 ( it is set to 0 now, of course )?
And also, after using triangle away ( if possible ) my status will become official if i'm using a stock kernel?
You need to be on STOCK kernel in order to Reset counter on 4.3 I flashed stock and rooted and then reset.
I tryed with custom rom like DN3 and its not working.

Are you sure you need to be on stock recovery to reset counter?? From what I undersotood on 4.1.2 you could reset counter even with Phil's, but it would incerease if you flashed something or went to recovery, but it COULD reset it.
