Hey guys,
I have since the beginning with this phone had issues with receiving MMS messages from other AT&T customers, I have not modified it whatsoever all stock APN and settings in that regard. I get a message with the pop up showing "downloading" and its a 32kb file it downloads the text they included with the mms, and shows it switched modes to MMS in the blurb around the text message in the messaging app, but no picture comes through, sometimes if they send it twice it will send the picture but not every time. Anybody else see this? any ideas?
Having same problem... I've tried resetting the apn (even though it's the default and hasn't been messed with) and I'm now using hangout.

Yes...
Always patchy on stock MMS...
If you have not cleared your caches in recovery since owning the device...you probably should...
Updates have occured ...and your caches may be dirty...
Also wipe the application cache in the app drawer frequently...g

Apparently I'm still having the same issue even with hangouts... :-\
Update: called the store and after tests it was concluded that the imei was incorrect so the store will be sending out a replacement.

I've looked over the forums and searched found a couple of threads with directions for functioning MMS but still no one says they are getting my MMS messages after trying these fixes. I use ChompSMS as my MMS program and I have it set to compress MMS messages to 300kb and I never get a failure but the recipient says they never got it. I send over a strong 3g connection and when it's sending I see the up and down arrows next to 3g stay solid signaling it's sending. My T-Mobile MMS is epc.tmobile.com which it is supposed to be as well. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
Try using stock messenger or handcent

I use handcent, it works fine. I would try disabling compression in your app first though, see if that fixes anything. If not do what the other guy said and try the stock or a different sms/mms app

For some reason I can't seem to send mms picture mail...I'm using cyanogen 7 and it doesn't say that the messages fail to send ..they just stay in sending status forever...I've been trying to send a few pictures for a couple weeks now.I've trying resending ,forwarding and nothing seems to get them to send.I've also tryied sending them with the stock messager and handcent but they both do the same results...I still have some trying to send from over 2 weeks ago and I've deleted the rest...if anyone know what's causing this any help or suggestions is greatly appreciated

Your MMS Server might have the wrong address or something. Tell me something, are you able to send regular text message without a problem or does that result into an endless wait too? If you're not able to send text messages either then you're going to have to flash into a sense rom preferably Sprint Lovers ROM and go to the dialer and press ##DATA#, once you press that you should be prompted for a code which will be your MSL....if you don't know your MSL then go to the market and download MSL reader....get your MSL and retry the ##DATA#.....once you enter your MSL then you should see a black screen with about 4 or 5 menu entires....go into Advanced and scroll down to where it say MMS Server and make sure it says http://mms.sprintpcs.com.....if it doesn't say that then that was your problem....reboot and re-flash CM7.
No I don't have any problems with SMS. But I will try the process you stated ... I had to do pretty much the same thing to get my 3g to work on my custom roms so I get the jist of the steps ..ill post my results once I set it up. Thank you for the help

Did you have your 3g on? Won't work on wifi, but works on 3g. 3g has to be on before you begin to send.
Fixed it! thanks

No problem dude! Helping out each other is what this site is all about! You learn something by either reading, personal experience or just a freak of nature and you just pass it on...........
So my phone got disconnected recently for few hours as a lack of payment but when they reconnected it my mms doesn't work again ...everything else works after I went through the msl process to set up everything ..GPS 3g etc and I checked and updated my mms source ..prl etc...the thing is my mms work when I'm on a stock rom ..but after I reinstall cyanogen it stops working ... any suggestions

Similar problem
I am on FRESH 4.2, and I cannot send or received MMS either. I did everything, updated profile, prl, went into the settings at re-entered the MMS url, wiped caches, went on 4G as well as 3G. Doesn't work, has anyone else found a solution? Thanks guys.
I have this issue with just one contact I kept texting..when I send a text message it converts it to an MMS or an audio message..I have no idea why this is happening..I tried deleting the contact and adding them countless times and nothing..i rebooted and nothing..every other contact I text is normal..i even cleared the data and froze it to see if that helped and nada..any ideas as to why this is happening? It's with the stock messaging app..and yes Im rooted but never had this issue until now..
Uhhhh if your really desperate,

A large text message I think over 160 characters automatically turns into a mms message.. Try going into message app setting and changing the creation mms setting?

Set the creation mode to restricted and it still changes ever SMS to MMS for just that one contact guess I'll just fully wipe and factory rest and re flash to see if that helps
I'm using Martian Initiative ROM, and I've been having a couple of problems across the board in terms of ROMs.
First off, my phone refuses to send or receive text messages and phone calls at certain points. Only waiting 4-8 hours pushes all the texts through, or restarting my phone.
But seeing how it doesn't alert me that a message hasn't been sent, it's usually a good half hour before I notice.
Second issue, sometimes GoSMS and stock SMS show no messages in the inbox. Can't send messages. Received messages lead to blank template screens - similar to creating a new message.
Anyone else experienced this?
Solid 4 - 5 bar 4G LTE.

I have not had those issues on his ROM or any others. Try a fresh install.

I have had the issue with calls not going through. Update PRL & Profile fixes the issue for me every time.

I haven't had issues sending or receiving texts, but I have had massive slow downs using the stock messaging app. Like my OG Evo would run circles around this thing kind of slow. It lags sending the message, then I can't go back and my keyboard sticks on the screen. It just has very laggy behavior that I think is unacceptable for a phone of this caliber. It doesn't happen with a different messaging app though.

Just got my S8+. I'd noticed on my stock message app, it'll say "sending" after i'd sent the message in a group chat.....regardless two contacts or more. Eventhough i have full bars and I'd call those individual contacts to already confirmed they'd received my text. It'll go away if i close up the app completely and reopen it. But then we'll back to "sending" glitch again after i'd sent them a text.
Anybody else have this problem?
Nevermind. Solved it by clearing the Cache & Data in the Storage of the messaging app.
Yeah I have noticed this also, it just stays there for ever, dont really know if they message actually got through... a reboot will take care of it all. Text messaging has been really clunky and I get a lot of failed messages but somehow they go through and still say failed...
Dang.....it'll still comes by after a while. Only temporary solution is to close & open app.
Plus one doing on mine sent text it says sending and person replied it's still sending

Mines go through right away,. I mean in a timely manner.
Mine is doing the same thing but I'm using handcent. It's quite irritating.
Has anyone gotten a more permanant fix for this? It does get a little irritating.
I found that it only happens when you are using wifi calling... if you disable wifi completely it works fine... its like the phone has a hard time deciding what to use. I turned on Aggressive wifi/cell handover but it doesnt stick. also keep data turned on doesnt do anything... only when I turn wifi off it works fine...
I've noticed this issue with android for quite a while. If I sent a message and it stays at sending I would just call my vm, and the message would go through right away, but luckely with the s8+ I haven't had to do that so far.
