I have searched everywhere, and there is not one place that shows how to switch back to sprint from straight talk. I bought this phone on ebay and the guy said it would activate on sprint no problem and i got it as a present for my dad. I need help returning it to sprint, there are many threads about how to do it from cricket or metro pcs, but nobody ever states from straight talk.
Can somebody help me please!!!

Have you tried either of those methods to see if they work?

I bought an EVO from ebay which was rooted and apparently switched to another carrier. I couldn't find a good answer on how or if I can switch back to sprint, so I figured i'd ask here. If anyone could help me out I'd appreciate it.
So I'm trying to help a friend get the HTC evo on their straight talk plan. Ive looked at the boost mobile and other tutorials to get it on verizon. But hoping someone could help out. It doesn't need a sim card or anything. Any help would be much appreciated!
I thought Straight Talk was Walmart's service through AT&T, which would mean it's GSM and requires a SIM card....
Yea that's what I thought but I was told it was through Verizon also, and the phone my friend is currently using has no sim card in it. Ive never had that service so I don't know for sure tho. Maybe someone could provide more insight..?

Well...it may be roaming on part of Verizon, but I believe its T-Mobile.
I almost signed up with them at my local Walmart but talked myself out of it.
At mine it didn't sell, so that location discontinued it then came back, then stopped again. Last I saw it was back again. Lol
I'm about sure its a GSM based phone service. Best bet, call the local Walmart and see what phones their actually selling for it. That will tell you what it uses for sure.

I work at Walmart and actually just transferred out of electronics. Straight runs off of cdma and GSM. They just came out with two android phones that run off of verizon so it probably is possible but I can't help you with how to do it

Actually, there are services on eBay that will flash the Evo from Sprint to Straight Talk to utilize the Verizon network. If our phones had sim cards, we could just buy a ATT or T Mobile sim card from Straight Talk, change a few settings and be on our way. As it stands with Sprint's Evo, most flashing services require that you ship the phone off (check seller feedback and comments 1st!) while others will flash via remote log in on your computer. Verizon network for $45 per month... can't beat it. My rooted phone was shipped off and is being flashed now. I will try to update all once my phone has been returned (3g speeds, etc).
Edit: Got my phone back today. Paid ~ $79.00 with no need to buy a donor phone. Gentleman was very courteous and my phone was returned in excellent condition. I'm digging the Verizon service.

Hi all:
first post here
I just got a Sprint S3 with cracked screen and bad esn for $95 and the screen still works
I had to spend $25 on gas to get it so i guess total = $120 but still not bad
Anyhow i see lots of tuts and videos on how to go from Sprint to Cricket but almost all of them say to use your cricket phone number.
I dont have cricket in my area but where my sister lives she does which is a couple states away from me.
Anyhow i not sure if im gonna make a deal with her or not but that is what originally got me looking in this direction as i usually use skype over wifi but mainly i switch to GV over wifi and it works really good with groove ip
ANYHOW
how do i go about following those tutorials on changing phone from sprint to cricket when i dont actually have any of that data to put in since i dont have a cricket phone with cricket service so if the next person that actually got the phone with cricket service could have it programmed for their area and have it work correctly?
thanks
What's the value if it has a cracked screen? FYI the screen on the s3 is about 300 to replace and you can get a new one on craigslist for that. Anyways see WWW.cricket users.com for instructions on flashing they have all the tutorials you need.

No if its only the screen and not the digitizer it can be replaced for $30 in 15 mins by the right person.

did anyone actually even read my the original post that started this thread (that replied in this thread)
people answered how to or not to fix my screen more then anything else
i have read and followed the tutorials on how to flash from sprint to cricket
that is not my Q
how do you do it when you dont have cricket service (cricket phone number)?
what would i enter as my cricket phone number (if i was going to send it to my sister in kansas) so it would be almost all ready for her to start using it without her telling me any of her info?
thanks
just want it to be ready to use like a normal person with cricket service who had bought this phone off ebay and wants to activate with cricket.
im not saying i want to sell it yet as i just got it but im sure some day within next 6months i might or i might make a deal with my sister so if anyone buys the phone and wants to activate with cricket i would like it to be painless as possible
see if i had cricket service i am sure i could cdma tool and enter everything i need to get it working but if it goes to someone new i am sure they will just want to activate like normal and without entering a (cricket) phone number in those tutorials with cdma tool would it make it hard for the next person to activate it on cricket?
would they be able to do it over the phone with cricket or could they take that newly flashed phone in to cricket and they would be able to get it done?
hope someone understands what im saying
if it was for me (and i currently had cricket) im sure that would be easy because i know the web and these tools
what happens when a person gets these phones and dont know any of that stuff?
is it treated just like a regular cricket phone when you take it in their shop?
I know how to flash my ls-970 to Cricket. What I don't know how to do is then activate it with Cricket.
I called Cricket and they said it was impossible to activate a cellphone that does not have a simcard in it. I do understand that their tech support may not be the brightest people and I see on this forum that other ls-970 owners have flashed to Cricket, but nobody explains how they activated the phone after.
Please help me if you have done this. I don;t want to flash it and then find out I can not activate it.
Thanks in advance. My Sprint contract is up and I would like to NOT have to pay another month with them,
did you get this sorted yet? I'd like to flash my phone to another network also but I can't find anything.
I am trying to change carriers from AT&T to Sprint I went into the Sprint store. they said that the phone is not able to be hooked up to sprint. It was something with the IMIE do any of you have your phone on sprint if so what did the reps do to activate it please any help would be greatly appreciated
It totally is. I bought mine unlocked and am on Sprint. You just need the right SIM card. They should know better. Go to a store that does repairs and services.

You need a special SIM card from Sprint and not all stores have it, what i did was call many Sprint stores in my area and i had to drive like 50 miles to go to the store that had it, let me tell you sprint people are just too stupid and often don't know wtf they saying lol
Hey thank you guys for the response. I'm going to go back up there tomorrow.
Sprint is one of Project Fi's carriers. So their network will work with this phone. I've never dealt with Sprint directly but I had the same situation with Verizon when I was on the 6P. All I had to do was activate one of their Sims in a Verizon phone and swap it out. I showed the sales people in the Verizon store this and they were amazed.

You are 100% correct, my friend. From telesales to corporate stores, they have no clue what they're doing, and the idiotic right hand has no clue what the moronic left is doing.
