Use Without Battery? - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
Just received DHD from eBay and the guy has forgotten to ship the battery -_-
I'ts on its way but I'd just like to check if the phone works or not, so is there a way to turn it on using another power source?
Thanks, Gabriel.

Do you have the wall charger? Usb cable? Give that a go.

Tried that and didn't work.. Is there some kind of mode i could turn it on with? I know when I plugged my old HTC Sasla in to the wall it turned on.

It doesn't work without the battery.

MHL / HDMI

I bought MHL + HDMI cable to connect my #galaxynexus to my Samsung tv but it didn't work, I bought it from ebay and it's mark as for #galaxynexus comptable... Or what did I miss? Do I need to do extra configuration? Help please

Did you power the MHL by hooking up a powered micro USB to the female micro USB port?
I didn't understand what you are talking about but I do hook the MHL to the HDMI cable to my pc...
What should I do first?

Btw I'm using a custom rom AOkP build27

As well as connecting your phone and TV up, it will require more power. There is a microUSB port on the side of the MHL adapter, plug your charging cable into it.
Oh okay! Thats means I still need to buy an axtra connector/cable to make it work?

And it went too far
If you're still having trouble after you get the charger plugged in, keep this in mind. My GN will only enter MHL mode if I plug the cable in with the phone's screen turned off and the TV already tuned to the correct input. If I plug the cable in with the phone turned on, or switch the TV to the right input after I've plugged it in, it won't work. I have a cheap Chinese cable though. Good luck!
With my Samsung MHL adapter from eBay the wireless LAN stops working immediately when I plug it in... as far as I found a lot of people have that problem :-( :-( I tried several different USB power sources, nothing worked
Sorry for that, was just making fun but it's not funny to, am very sorry...

Thanks, so far so good, mines cost abouts 37€ ( MHL + HDMI cable "5 meters ") and it's working just fine...

[PROBLEM] One X Not Charging

Ok so I just went to plug my phone in to charge and it's not charging. No LED and no indication from the phone itself that there is charging going on. This is totally random as I charged it last night without issue and haven't modified anything for a few days now. Any ideas?

Bricked, or Broken?

I've had a G2 for a couple of years now that hasn't been working. I've exchanged batteries, but cannot get anything to boot. The phone was having problems with freezing prior to the supposed brick, and the phone is completely stock.
As of now, I have it plugged in via USB and I didn't hear any sort of notification that the computer even recognizes the phone, my other android phones will get picked up with the power off.
Long story short, is there a way to get into "upgrade mode", or something similar that HTC might have? Something from ADB that could trigger the phone to power on in the hardware doesn't power on itself?
Thanks.
EDIT: The charge LED does NOT come on while plugged on to the charger.
well before i say no can you get a battery that you know works and try this first

Try what? I've tried another battery in the past. But shouldn't the LED come on when plugged into USB with or without battery?

Check that the leads on the battery are touching the contacts in the phone properly!

well chances are you will need to open it up and use a soldering station to fix it then. maybe someone else here has a good tip for you to try but my best guess is it will be sold for parts

Stupid thing has water damage..the VOID sticker wasn't where it was supposed to be, but I saw some pink residue from the sticker. I'm gonna take it to see if I can get it fixed. I believe it's worth it, it isn't the first batch of G2's, it was one of the warranty replacements that didn't have those weird issues.
Take a multi meter to the contacts with the phone open. See if any power is getting through.

charging phone with jabar wallcharger?

I checked both wall chargers they have different volts of their input and output and theres no usb or anyting to take out of the jabar wallcharger is it safe to charge with?
When i plug it in it works but is it generally safe to charge this phone with it....
By the way The jabar charger is meant for a bluetooth headset
Thanks guys!
Works the same...
I have 5 different ones...(Motorola, Chinese, Samsung,..)
Cables and the Chargers themselves...so they all work fine for me.
I charge my phone at night so I don't notice if one charges slower or faster than the other.
But yea use it.

[Q] [SOLVED] Not turning on, blinking orange LED

Last night my DHD's battery died so i plugged it into the wall outlet and walked away, i came back ten mins later and the phone wasn't turning on, and i also began to notice that the Orange LED at the top was slowly blinking at me, i tried plugging it into a PC but to no avail.
Can anyone tell me whats going on, and where the fault it (i'm guessing its the USB cable)
Thank you.
Happened to me one, scared the B Jesus out of me. Pulling the battery and plugging it into a charger got it to boot without issues
