Wireless charging - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note II

I'm sure it's been beaten to death but for some reason I can't find an answer so I'll ask it here.
The international note has wireless charging but the T Mobile version doesn't. The difference, as I understand it, is the back cover. Tmo's version doesn't have the power receiver (I'm not sure what it is called) that connects to the rear charging pins.
Why can't I just get a rear cover from an international version and add wireless charging that way?
Also, is the official wireless charging chi compatible?
Thanks

Wireless charger

Who is dying to buy the wireless charger as soon as it becomes available?
I know it one feature i love the most from the palm pre and I'm glad its coming from stock to the galaxy s 3, but like when I tried to hack the epic 4g with the wireless charger it was messing with the compass, I'm wondering how its going to be? And if that's going to mess with the nfc too.
And will they have a wireless charger car kit?
I know these are questions many will not answer but basically I'm curious to know.
I am looking forward to the wireless charger.
I am interested to see how it will work and perform. I think there might be performance issues and maybe cause overheating. Hopefully no exploding phones.
If it works even decently ill get one lol

You guys have a link for it? I haven't seen that!

Samsung Wireless Charging Kit
Here's a pic:
I am, I just don't wanna pay more then 60 bux or so. I was in the uk s3 forum and there is a few guys that have modded a palm touchstone and powermat to work with the phone. Might go that way since it would be cheaper.
As long as it isn't too expensive i'm buying it.
Agreed

I'm curious to know if the official samsung wireless charger will work in the same way/better than the powermat. Since I already have a powermat this (powermat/solutions/wicc/ ) may be a cheaper deal and a good alternative to the official samsung product.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using XDA
Yeah, i am hoping its better than the powermat...and that two or three phones can charge at the same time on it
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
On the preview it looked like one phone could barely fit
You might be able to squeeze 2

Wireless charging and warranty

Probably a hopeless question but is there a way to get wireless charging with out voiding warranty with the sprint version?
Sent from my SPH-L900 using Tapatalk 2
yes, make a case that plugs into the phone that can take wireless charging.
like a second back plate but making the phone taller because it would need to plug into the usb port

Wireless Charging

With news that the Nexus 4 Wireless Charging Orb is being release in February, I'm curious to know if anyone has tested out this ability on their LGOG..... If specs are very similar to the Nexus 4, would the Charging Orb work....
It would be sweet to get this or some sort of wireless charger for our LGOG :fingers-crossed:
won't work
There has to be a wireless adapter usually on the back of the battery door for it to work. Unfortunately the nexus 4 has it, and the LGOG doesn't.
Some companies make aftermarket adapters for popular phones, however with a so called "non-removable" battery, it doesn't seem likely for us. But we can hope...

I tried to remove it. But its glued to the back of the screen. Didn't want to mess up the battery. LOL.

I read somewhere that with a little ingenuity and a soldering iron you could essentially make the OG compatible. Having never soldered anything in my life I ignored it, but try googling that if you feel capable of doing something like this.
I wonder how easy it would be to install the Palm Pre's touchstone coil in this phone, or if it's possible to install the Qi charging coil from an N4.....
I was wondering the same thing. I looked in the service manual and it seems that the same 2 powerpoints are on the Samsung Galaxy S 3 are also on this device. Can anyone confirm that these 2 points to the right of the battery are for charging contacts?

I have a couple of touchstones around somewhere. My biggest fear for this mod would be the pressure from coil pushing on the inside of the glass back.

So I know this isn't exactly what you guys want, but it may be worth a shot.

Charger port - not good build quality?

I'm now on my 3rd S3 which thankfully is still covered by warranty. I really would like to avoid having to go through this over and over but I'm not sure how to avoid the charger port not working properly over time. I don't think I've done anything really to provoke it. I think the case might have angled the port a little so I'll likely stop using that case
I'm curious though - is anyone else experiencing this? Looks like I can do self repair but it would require soldering skills which I don't have

Yes, have had one phone replaced already. This one is flaky as well. Bought a wireless charger for it, but have to use air droid for file transfers.

It looks like that is the case. I'm going to try it out myself. Ordered the receiver from Fast Time and a Nokia wireless charging pad from AT&T

I'm having a similar issue in that I cannot charge the phone via the USB. It starts to charge but then the LED goes off. By the morning I am down to 3% charge after 7 hours of being plugged in. I have tried 3 different batteries, 4 cables and ac adapters. I reflashed to stock and then had a Samsung guy at Best Buy reflash again. Same thing happens. The only way I can charge is with an external battery charger or if I use an iPad was charger with my USB cable...go figure.
My S3 is only a couple months old, but so far, it's holding up nicely. Is the issue actually with the charge port, or with lint from your clothes preventing the charger from connecting to the pins in the port?
No phone could have a worse charge port than the Evo 4G. I was lucky to never have an issue with it, but I know tons of people did.
I cleaned the lint out, but it still would not work properly. I also tried different batteries, cables, wall ports, usb ports, everything.

Wireless charging and case?

I've got the wireless charging battery cover from Verizon on my phone. It makes the phone a bit thicker. I was wondering if there were any cases out there that can accommodate the extra size. I currently use a Cruzerlite case that I cut a little bit to allow expansion but I'd like something a bit cleaner.
TIA for any input!

You can get wireless charging inlays that fit inside the original battery lid and as such don't increase the thickness of the device
Interesting, never heard of that. Do you have a link?

They're practically impossible to miss, just search ebay or any number of other places for "s3 qi inlay"
Has anyone experienced any issues with the inlays? I just got a wireless qi charger and the Verizon rear case for the phone and have just been putting up with the added thickness. I wouldn't mind considering the inlays though.

They make it a bit thicker and bow the back out very slightly.
To those who currently have a qi wireless charger. Few questions as I'm about to get one.. Does the charging pad get warm? Is it ok to keep plugged in or could it be a possible fire hazard? Stupid question, I know, but I have a hard time trusting cheap stuff from china, lol. Does wireless charging charge as fast as USB? Thanks!

Occasionally. Yes it's fine. And it depends on the pad and the receiver on your phone. Mine is 650mA so it's slightly faster than USB

I wouldn't skimp on the stuff tho. I spent like $50 for my charging pad. Its got two spots and it's made by Energizer.

the pad can get warm but it's fine.
it's not going to blow up or anything.
you can also keep an eye out for the dt500 charging pad that nokia has for the lunia series. they go on sale often for $25.

1. Slightly warm when in use.
2. Yes, it's fine to leave it plugged in. My one at my office desk sits on top of a pile of papers and hasn't set anything on fire yet.
I personally own this receiver (which I use with this pad, though my pads are black rather than white), which works well though my lifeproof case. No dice with the Otterbox Armour case though.
I'd recommend avoiding this charger. It doesn't work worth a damn through a case and constantly connects/disconnects.
I have the same receiver inlay as compo01, using it with a variety of pads, including an official Samsung S4 one that I modded into an ugly but functionally awesome dock

I have the ghost charger that they sell at Verizon. I woke up this morning and my phone showed 116 F. Is that super hot for a phone?

seems unnaturally hot... is there any metal in between your phone and the charger?

my phone gets warm during the initial charging but once it hits 100% it cools down real fast. I can think of only one other thing in this case.. you might not be aligned correctly.. but i would not think that's the case since you seem to be able to get to 100% with no problem...
I have the Verizon and the monster watts WiQiQi kit. I mainly use the Verizon back cover even though it means I can't put a case on. The WiQiQi is a nice kit but when I use it with my preferred case, one with a stand , The screen distorts and bulges. But I put the WiQiQi in my fathers phone with an otterbox and he has no issues.
