[Q] What is the best radio to use with a JB rom? - Verizon Droid Incredible 2

I'm using Psychos R' Us CM-10Build4 on my Inc2 and everything works well, my issue is with signal strength. I live out in the country and on the stock sense rom i got 1-3 bars at my house but now that im on cm10 im lucky to get 1. would a radio update help? and if so which radio should i use? thanks!

On some roms the signal bars are not always accurate. You should be going off what your db levels are. The lower the better. Can be found in settings>about phone>status.

He is correct.

CM based roms have always yielded fewer bars for me, but just to let you know I average -85db to -110db most of the time in my house. I am on the .320 radio and have tested a few with no better results. Good luck on your search.

Thanks for all the replies guys. I checked and I'm at -99 plenty of signal for calling/texting/3g

The only way to know for sure is to test different ones out. Just don't flash the same one twice. ( meaning if you already have the .1111 on your phone don't flash over it with another .1111)

Low 4G Speed On ICS Roms

Okay so here is my story.
I have had this phone since it was first released. I have rooted my phone successfully and I have been using custom rom's since gingerbread.
Whenever I install ICS roms, the 4G will always fall to <100kbps on the speed test app. When I go back to gingerbread the 4G speeds are normal.
I've tried about 20 different ICS modems and kernels on various ICS roms and I get the same results.
Just today I went to the Sprint store and got my phone replaced thinking maybe I just had a bad phone. I just installed another ICS ROM and I'm getting the same Bull**** 4G speeds... WTF (I'm tight)
Any advice, tips, ideas, or am I just a duncebat?

When I talk to other people on the ICS Rom threads it sounds as if I'm the only one with that problem and everyone else's speeds are just fine.

I get that same problem. And it gets stranger still. I pay for 30Mbps internet at home. If I speed test on my computer, I get 30, or damn close to it. But when I speed test on my phone, I get a whopping 10. Since wimax is wifi, I am guessing that its a problem in the modem related to wifi. Anyone else experiencing this?

[Q] Anyone have information on fc19 modem?

How it runs with your phone etc? location doesn't matter just wanna see if its worth checking out
I've heard some bad things about it. It was just a leak and never went official. So I would not recommend it. I ended up having to flash fc09 back on because it went out of service and wouldn't come back on.

Just wanted it so when my wife messed with me I could flash it so when I killed Kissed her she wouldn't have service. lmfao
Idk what you're all talking about. Been using it since it leaked and my connection and speeds are fantastic.

I haven't had any problems with it and I've also been using it since it leaked! I'm even in an area with miserable service...

Thanks for confirming that different modems react differently for different phones/areas!
As mentioned above, YMMV. But here was my modem test (4-5 bars signal, 3 tests each) using SpeedTest.Net's app in Raleigh:
FC09: 0.69 Mbps download, 0.67 Mbps upload average
FC19: 0.31 Mbps download, 0.5 Mbps upload average
FC19 Tests
0.27d/0.53u
0.29d/0.39u
0.37d/0.57u
FC09 Tests
0.67d/0.69u
0.66d/0.65u
0.75d/0.68u
Each phone reacts differently to modems. Plain and simple. Try each modem out until you find the one that works best for you.
I ended up back on EI22.

Thus far my favorite mod is my theme . And my favorite kernel is the samurai kernel. Although I have not ran it in a while. Waiting on The developer to finish his app and fix up his kernel a tad.

Heh doesn't sound like an easy fix. The signal anyways. Extracting the PRL is simple. And you need to use your PC not your phone. Though you can do it on your phone as well..
The PRL is the latest as well as the radios. But you could try flashing them again. I think sprints FD02 radios are messed up. I flashed the ones in our development section.
I also only get -100 and -93 which is between 1-2 bars in my house. But just about everywhere else i have 2-4 bars.

Well do you have another sprint phone to compare. It could just be that your area has sucky coverage. No radio or PRL will help you with that. The only thing I can think of is flashing a Verizon PRL. However that will be iffy because if roam too much sprint will cut you.

Dinc2 Radio/Network Speed

Hello, About a week ago I flash CM9 on to my Incredible 2 and I was wondering if I should flash a new radio firmware or if there is even one that works with Android 4.0.4 (ICS)? I've looked around and haven't had much luck so any input would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Mwebb049
P.S. What are the Network speeds you guys are getting?
I really haven't noticed much of a difference with the new radio 3g, but better wifi for sure.

Constant low signal

I have the newest radio but I have consistently poor reception everywhere. Thoughts?

A radio may improve or make you signal worse. Try them all out and find which one suits you best

You can get all the radios here http://dinc.does-it.net/Radios/. You can even try the evo radios as they are compatible with the incredible. Also do a *228 and select option 2 to make sure your prl is up to date.
Only use these radios! Dont try others! They might hard brick yur inc!!!!!! Also check md5's prior to flashing!!!

Which ones are you using? Anyone try the evo radios? Are they guaranteed to work i.e not brick my phone?

They wouldnt be posted there if they don't work. I've personally used at least one version of the evo 4g radios on my droid incredible and had no issues. Check the md5 first regardless of the radio you flash.

You can flash radios from fastboot with
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot flash radio your_file_name_for _radio.img

By "consistently poor reception", do you mean fewer signal bars than you're used to, or actual audio quality issues / dropped calls?
If you're not experiencing trouble making/receiving calls, then you don't have an actual problem. The answer in that case is to just quit looking at the bars and don't worry about them.
If you're really having signal-related troubles, though, then others have posted good suggestions.
