Does anyone has unlimited access to Web, emails with T-Mobile Web $5.99 hacked working properly?
Please help, I can't access to Internet
Adavid
Timely question as I have been wrestling with the very same issue for the past 36 hours.
My phone also has the RW 6.1 ROM and I activated T-Zones a day and a half ago. I've followed the hack instructions on "dashapps" to the letter, booted and rebooted several times, yet no internet. I either get a "$MESSAGE$..." or "you cannot access.." message when I try to connect.
I read on another HTC (non-Excalibur) board that T-Mobile has closed this loophole: can anyone definitively verify? There's a member here -- JDOGG*** something that says he works for TMo, so maybe he knows for sure.
I hate to be the noob that asks the same question that's been answered a dozen times, but... I've scoured this board and followed all the hack instructions EXACTLY -- several times -- and still no luck, so I'm at a loss for solutions.
Any and all guidance is genuinely appreciated. Thank you.
i've had the $5.99 working for quite some time working with:
autosync/exchange
iris browser/pocket IE
IM+ (IM program)
VNC viewer
also, i'm using 6.1 & followed the dashapps hack w/ no issues. not sure what else to tell you guys.
Yes, the $5.99 proxy hack doesn't work in some regions (usually those with the highest data traffic.) For everyone else, it works perfectly, with the exception of a few apps that aren't proxy aware.
A related question which may help solve my issue:
Within "Connections" there are two GPRS choices: #5, "GPRS Settings" and #6, "GPRS". For "GPRS Settings" I have the option of authenticating using PAP or CHAP: which do I use?
Also, is there a preferred setting for "Disconnect GPRS When Dropped"? (Preferred in the sense that it may effect my ability to connect to the internet.)
Thanks again.

Just double checked my settings for you. I have it listed as CHAP, Hold Connection and checked GPRS Auto Attach. GPRS Auto Detach is not checked. Hope that helps, in St. Paul the settings work just fine.

$5.99 Setting for WM6.1.....URGENT
ralph1o1 cal you write it down your phone set up?
I called T-mobile Yesterday to do the setting and the Lady toll me that I have to get the $19.99 plan to get access with WM6.1, I'm pretty sure a few peoples of "T-mobile support" doesn't have a idea when you change OS doesn't come with the original phone.
If you can bring me the setting I appreciated.
By the way..I went back to WM6 to try and I had access to T-Zones thru "winwap" but I didn't have the $5.99 plan to try it.

I Love Wm6.1 And I Don't Want Go Back.............
Please Help To Set Up Internet With $5.99 Plan
:d
My GPRS is set to PAP, but the other settings mentioned are the same. Here are my settings:
Under GPRS, I have three connections:
The first and third are labeled T-Mobile Data and T-Mobile WModem Link and are both setup the same:
Connects to: WAP Network
Access Point: wap.voicestream.com
Other settings are blank, except for the DNS entries are all 0.0.0.0.
The second connection is labeled T-Mobile MMS:
Connects to: Work
Access Point: wap.voicestream.com
Other settings are blank, except for the DNS entries are all 0.0.0.0.
Now onto the proxies...I have two setup:
Tzones Proxy:
Connects from: WAP Network
Connects to: The Internet
Proxy: 216.155.165.50:8080
Type: HTTP
Username and Password are both blank.
Tzones Proxy2:
Connects from: Work
Connects to: The Internet
Proxy: 216.155.165.50:8080
Type: HTTP
Username and Password are both blank.
I live in Ohio and it works all over the state and Michigan, if that matters at all.
Let us know if these settings work for you.

let me get this straight...you put a cooked copy of 6.1 on your phone....you then call tmobile and tell them that your new unsupported cooked rom wont let you access the whole net on the 5.99 hack plan like the wm6 did.
you do realize that the whole concept of what we are doing here has totally escaped you.
Yah just follow the instructions below and you should be able to access it.
Thanks guyz....
Thanks to you gauyz....jdoggraz and unasari1
I will try to setting on the phone.
I really wants to thanks to "ralph1o1".....

opera mini works great with this plan
I'm having some problems getting the ATT Wifi and Media Mall cabs after flashing to the latest energy rom.
I think this might be solved if someone can post their stock opera:config settings for proxy. That way I could download the cabs from att through opera.
Any ideas?
[Proxy]
Use Proxy On Local Names Check=1
HTTP Server=wireless.cingular.com
HTTPS server=wireless.cingular.com
Use HTTP=1
Use HTTPS=1
Enable HTTP 1.1 for proxy=1
Added this to my proxy settings (Opera:config in address bar or \windows\opera\opera.ini)
Was able to go to device.home in my browser and navigate to the MediaMall site and then got the cab from there (search wi-fi).
I'm running the WWE ROM on a Tilt 2;
I was able to set the proxy, and browse the medianet page. I ended up going to the regular att website since searching the mobile medianet page didnt get me anything, and have it send me a sms for the wifi download. When I follow the link on the device, the medianet page complains that I do not have a supported device and won;t let me download it.
Is there some medianet component that has to be installed, or do I need to change opera's user agent string? Or is there another link to the wifi app?
Try navigating to http://device.home and if the mobile friendly medialnet site pops up your proxy settings are good. then find the mobile medianet site and search wifi.

I am getting to the mobile medianet site, but searching either in the medianet search, or the mediamall search, i get "no results for your handset" (searching wifi wi-fi wi fi etc.) , similar to the "your device is not supported" message when I use the direct link to the install.
I'm still thinking i need to change my user agent string currently its this;
HTC_Touch_Pro2_T7373 Opera/9.50 (Windows NT 5.1; U; en)
anyone know what the stock tilt2 uses? I didn't think to check before i flashed.
It was the UA. Found the string on the ATT devcentral site;
seems huge, but when I changed the custom string in opera to this the download/mediamall access worked;
HTC-ST7377/1.14.502.12 (50433) Opera/9.50 (Windows NT 5.1; U; en) UP.Link/6.3.1.20.06.3.1.20.0
Attached the WiFi client cab. It added some pre-configured wireless networks in the wireless setup, not sure what else its doing for authentication.
ATT Wi-fi cab
I installed the ATT wi-fi cab on my Tilt 2 running the stock ROM, but when I try to run the program in doesn't open. The program shows up in the list of installed programs and in Program Files/Wi Fi Client. Tried a soft reset, but still not working. Any help is appreciated.
uh im a noob but what would be the benefits of using/having a opera proxy
and is the mediamall like a appstore from att?
and what does the att wifi cab do

I haven't been able to get the wifi client working. It just instructs me to turn on my wifi in comm manager and gives me the opportunity to search for locations. Unfortunately, I still was hit by the starbucks wifi login page when I tried.

It seems the tilt 2 ships with 2 different proxy settings out of the box. 1 is a hidden proxy setting in the registry, the other is set in your opera settings. This basically instructs the device to view the internet via ATTs system (basic explanation). You need to do this to access Cellular Video/MediaNet, but otherwise it is usually better to circumvent the proxy.
Right, MediaMall is an ATT appstore filled with java based apps.
ATT Wifi cab supposedly lets you use WiFI for free wherever ATT Wifi is offered (Starbucks/McDonalds/airports).
ATT Wifi
I actually was able to use the ATT wifi at the local Starbucks today. I just turned on my wifi and it picked up the ATT network. I noticed that the ATT Wifi client had added some networks to the list, I guess that did the trick.
Does anyone have the att wifi .cab or know where it is located?

Only if you pay ATT for the wifi service. If you use the MediaNet $15/month package I dont think it will work. I think the Wifi and 3G package starts around $39.

I think the exact requirement is the 30 dollar a month data plan and a newer Windows Mobile device. Any Tilt 2 owner theoretically meets this due to the forced data plan requirement.

I pay $10 for family data unlimited which is usually called $15 for MediaNet unlimited but if you have txt plan it is only $10. This is the plans for non-smartphones on ATT.
I would rather save the monthly fee and not use crappy att wifi. This new att wifi is a way to try to lessen the load on 3G network since they suck. A little while ago the ATT wifi was $69 a month with 3G combo. They added the wifi to the standard package for smartphones in an attempt to get people to use the wifi when available but unless you need a lot of bandwidth (torrents) then the 3G should support the user needs without having us manually look and turn on wifi just to help them out.

I flashed the ENERGY ROM and now don't have MediaMall. Does anyone have a cab or thread to download? I'm also missing the BoardGames that came in the bloatware.
Thanks in case and in advance!

Do you have any clue what this hidden proxy in the registry is? How do I set it so I can use the media mall. I've set everything in Opera and can get to the media mall but all I get for anything is a message saying "no results for your handset." I went to the Media Mall on line (desktop) and found what I was looking for but when I tried the download via a text message they sent it tells me my device isn't supported
Anyone have a clue?

Go to Start -> Tools -> Proxy Manager
There are cab files there to enable and disable the hidden proxy.
heres a cab for the proxy manager from the stock at&t - courtesy of at0mAng...

Hi, With my old TP1, I had no problems with ICS. I just got a TP2 yesterday, it's a refurb, so when I followed boo boo's tutorial on ICS with USB, under "network connection", I still get <none>, and can't choose the provider. I hard resetted, followed step by step, and still the same result. Anyone has any clue as what might be the problem? Thanks in advance
This worked for me, No need for cab or registry editor. I didn't write this and cant remember who did. Tried to find the post but couldn't. So who ever did write this THANKS because it worked for me.
Instead of hacking the registry, the phone is just set to use the AT&T ISP connection. Go into Internet Sharing, select Menu, Connection Settings, select Manage existing connections under AT&T ISP. On the next screen AT&T ISP GPRS should already be selected, tap edit.select next. The Access point name (APN) will say isp.cingular, this is the official tethering APN, change it to wap.cingular (the APN for phone internet browsing). select next. make sure user name, password, and domain are all cleared out, then select finish. Now go back to Internet sharing and all should be well. This will erase information needed to officially tether, but if you're doing this then you didn't intend to pay for it anyway. If you ever do need the username and password again, you should be able to obtain it via a simple google search or by calling customer service.
My posts are completely informational/educational. I bear NO responsibility for anyone messing up their phones or for anyone stealing (tethering without paying for it) from at&t Mobility.
sorry for the long post, just wanted to be detailed.
The stock Froyo ROM is quite cumbersome when multiple APNs are used.
Apart from the MMS APN, I have two other APNs set up: one for plain internet access and the other one for intranet or company email.
Switching from one to the other involved the following steps (I have a Dutch ROM so the exact wording may be different):
1. Home screen/Menu/Settings/Wireless and networks and then switch of the current data connection
2. Select the menu item below: mobile networks/APNs and choose another APN
3. In the Wireless and networks screen, re-enable the data connection
4. Go back to the application that needed another APN and start working again
On Windows Mobile, it was easier to indicate what APN had to be used for what purpose.
Isn't there an easier way to do this?
Thanks,
Mark
? Is this a general froyo issue? I am still on 2.1 and hesitating to upgrade, this would be a dealbreaker for me as I use the same setup...
Currently I use a bettercut shortcut directly to my apn's which works perfectly, no need to do something else besides selecting apn

Ok here is my situation... Im cancelling my cable and internet to save money. From what ive read I can tether internet from my sgs3 to my laptop or xbox360.
I have unlimited data. My wife says after upgrading to unlimited they removed free tethering.... I am fully stock ics
What rom do I need???
Do I need a special cord???
Thx in advance

Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
it is a limit on the service side not the rom.
No matter what rom you use will not enable tether if T-Mobile is blocking it.
The best thing that works for computers is to set a custom APN in the settings to
Name: T-Mobile Web
APN: epc.tmobile.com
mmsc: https://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
leave everything else blank
then on computer set a user agent string to android
that will get tethering to work to computer
I am not sure about xbox.
if that is blocked I doubt there is anything that could be done.
You can use tethering on unlimited plans with AOSP based roms. Some TW based seem to make it work somehow as well, but you can be guaranteed that it will work on AOSP base.
Pretty sure (depending on your browser being used on computer) will have to change the user agent on your computer browser.
T-Mobile checks that and will block after 100 mb usage on default chrome, firefox, or ie user agent strings.
