Hi there.
Out of the blue, my phone wont charge anymore. The only thing that happenes when i put the charger in is a red light when the screen is off. No charge. Anyone have an idea?
Red Light means charging. ..what makes you say. .not charging? ... wait for some time
scribbled from my note 2 (N7100)
Hehe, maybe i explained a little short. Was just a little stressed out.
The charging light is on, but in the statusbar it does not charge. In battery app it says charging, but the phone still discharges.
When i was driving today the phone started charging after being plugged in after 20 minutes.
The water damage indicator is untouched. I flashed a diffrrent kernel and wiped all but system. Still same problem

Are you using the charger and cable that come with the box?
Different USB cables deliver different amps to the phone.
So if you're using a cheap one, it will suffer.
Never ever try to charge a phone with car chargers.

Why?

Cars don't have proper power management system due to which it sends extra charge to the phone and damages the battery.

Depending on the battery icon. ..it may show charging on status bar. ..circle widget shows charging. ..Samsung default icon doesn't show charging (especially the one in simplistic framework mod).... use always the original charger. . Charges faster. ... usb and car chargers take a hell lot of time like 8 to 10 hrs

Me and my partner got sgn2 on our upgrade. They are 6 weeks old and one of the chargers has already packed up

standard USB is 500 mAh. This means that is will charge the phone from 0 to 100% in aprox 6 hours.
USB 3.0 delivers around 900 mAh if I'm not mistaken. With a proper Kernel you can even raise the current in your SGN2 to 1000 or even 1200 mAh. This might impact your computer motherboard in the long run though.

Do you have a source for this?
Most modern phones have built in protection from damaging voltage so I can't see that happening.

I guess you should show a credible source for this information.
Since I've Samsung original car charger kit and it works very good since almost 2 years from now. Why should Samsung by it's own produces a car charger if it's harmful for devices they sell?
Several times I've travelled more than 900 km with my car and Samsung car charger online with GPS. Everything was perfect at all. Please don't spread misinformation if you can't reference it.
Thanks,

Phone has inbuilt charging mechanism, that's what protects the battery. You just need to supply it with 5v dc. I have a 12v to usb 5vdc 2A plug in my car. Unless there is seriously something wrong with your car (or the 12v to 5v converter), it will charge fine without damage to the phone.
Original Factory charger is 5vdc at 2 amps. Most chargers will only deliver 500mA (or 700mA) which will take forever to charge the phone.
Disclosure: I'm an engineer.

Hello,
My battery is not charging while the charger is connected !!!
the phone detect the charger but the battery won't charge :s
any idea ?
thank you
Try any other chargers?
If yes, and still doesn't work then I'm going with faulty charger port. Just got done setting up a refurb from VZW b/c my g/f's gnex had this issue.
The only other thing I can say to try is bending the tab/metal plate in the middle of the charging port up towards the glass a bit to center it more. May work.
i've tried 3 differents chargers and usb cables.it shows "charging" on lockscreen but the battery drains !
i'll try to bend the metal plate to center it more.hope it will work

I had this problem. The charging port (the thing in the middle of the port) on the phone was bent. Took a safety pin and moved it a bit.

This is a known Samsung hardware problem with GNex. The USB port's contact (in the center) is made from cheap, thin metal -- unpleasantly reminiscent of the Galaxy S cheap, thin metal GPS antenna; a total fail. It's really criminal that Samsung releases product like this, and moreover that they don't halt production and engineer the problem out before putting more lemons out there.
The recommended solution -- bending the contact into alignment -- worked for me for about 5 seconds. Repeat 5 times, and then the phone simply wouldn't start up.
Your best solutions:
1. If it's under warranty, send it in for a fix
2. If it's not, search this forum for instructions on buying (ebay?) and replacing the USB port.
In either case, I'd worry about the problem re-occurring. I bought the very overpriced desk dock so that I can charge using the pogo pins. However, in my car I still need to use the USB cable ... very carefully.
I wouldn't ordinarily get phone insurance, but in this case I'm considering it. Not sure if it would be a covered incident. Does anyone know of a well-priced third-party insurance company that actually provides the coverage that one expects?
Hi there.
Has anyone managed to fix this issue?
My phone has the same problem. When I try to charge it, battery icon changes to charging animation, but battery percentage will not go up. In settings, status of battery is "discharging". Also, battery settings page does not show any application using battery other than "Android OS" and "Screen" which i find strange - usually at least 10 apps are shown on this page.
Have tried different wall chargers and USB cables, have tried getting the pin in the micro-USB port to the middle. still no help.
On the latest version of JBSourcery ROM, if that helps.
Thanks.
battery calibration?
this may be the case if you recently flashed a new ROM and your battery is not properly calibrated yet. you may try to let the battery completely discharge and charge again (of course, this only works, if it is indeed not a hardware issue also, use only wall chargers)... repeat that a few times and your battery should be calibrated again... had this problem a few times after flashing a new ROM, but that fixed it.
I recently bought a spare battery for my phone knowing that the original battery sucked. But the problem is I can't get it to work :crying:. Whenever I plug it into the wall charger. The front 3 touch buttons starts to flash but nothing happen. I tried booting the phone up and still nothing. Someone please help. I also tried googling it. still no go.

Sounds like the battery is faulty to me (assuming your original battery works fine with the phone).
The flashing touch panels means a completely depleted battery.
Are you using the stock charger that came with your Nitro?...You HAVE TO use the stock (or similar charger that pushes at least 1A, might even be 1.1A) in order to "kickstart" the battery to charge up from that depleted state.
You can also try a battery charger.
Another option is to buy a cheap generic charger, cut out the connector that goes to the phone, get the + & - cables apart and use it to charge the battery.
Btw if you HAVE to this either your phone faulty or the battery is bad quality. I hope is the battery. Completely drain your stock battery and try the same thing.

Has anyone else noticed that this is NOT 3800Mah.? I used it today and did notice an improvement but nothing great and it certainly wasn't as long as a large battery like thay should be. The extra inch isn't worth the extra battery. So for now its become a backup

Ok currently I'm leaving the battery to charge with my phone for the whole day and let's see what happens. I'm currently using an iPhone charger head and a microUSB cable. Is that ok? When will I know it's out of the dead battery state? Is it when it lights up to the battery charging screen? So sorry the overwhelming questions. I really do not know.

Use the lg charging block and cable that came with the phone. If you get nothing after a few minutes try removing the battery for a minute. Reinstall and try charging again. That could do the trick.

No, an iPhone charger will not work. You will only be able to get 0.5A (500mA) from an Apple charger when used with an Android phone (because Apple uses its own proprietary spec with USB charging). Any non-Apple charger rated at over 1A (1000mA) should work.

Should work. Keep in mind a 2A charger just means it's capable of drawing up to a maximum of 2A, but the Nitro HD won't actually use all of it. So it's safe to use a charger that is rated 2A.

I use an iPhone USB to AC adapter with a charging cable for what is marked as an HTC phone... no problems.
So I immediately fell in love with the fast charging capability of this phone. Unfortunately ive noticed its not charging as fast as it used to. I ran it down to 2% yesterday and put it on the charge. I get the slow charge in the notification, which ive been getting a lot, so I unplug and replug and it dosent return. 2hrs later I'm at 28%, when I wake up to go to work its only at 91%, problem is I woke up for work at 10 and put it on the charge at like 3:45. Anyone else noticed this?? This isnt the first time its happened just never this bad... I'm using the stock charger. I tried others but same thing. If you have a n7105 or an att one (can't remember the model- i397 I think) and a custom ROM try to get NEAK kernel... It supports fast charge, took 4 hrs+ to charge before and now that I changed the settings in the neak app it takes about a half hr. Its a pretty good kernel. And if you have the n7100 I believe devil kernel also supports fast charge through their app as well

If you have an old phone that has a usb to micro usb cable, try using that one if it works for charging your old phone with that cable. Or buy a Nokia CA-101D cable, I use it together with my stock charger. I had an issue with my stock cables too, it charges way too long even on the first time I used it.
So I have a galaxy note 3 tmobile and I plug it in to charge via micro USB and it shows the phone is charging but the phone doesn't actually charge? Kind of thing you would see with a knackered screen. It works just fine when powered on and I don't have a spare battery.
