Hey guys,
Whats the best latest htc desire rom that is stable with app2sd or sd-ext capabilities in it, so as i wont have to deal with low space issues..the one i am using now has a slow performance and apps take time to start + crashing...
Thanks.

I'm using the cm10 jb rom from vj and it seems pretty good. I did run out of space until I moved davlik cache to sd, but I think that's because I have a lot of apps installed

I also advise vj's CM10 jelly bean ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1945441). It's fast and stable. I find only video recording/playing is problematic.
I use it in combination with custom MTD partition this way : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=806321. I have size 190 2.
I don't move dalvik to SD. Although I haven't experimented lately anymore, my experience is dalvik on SD was slower. With a big enough partition you can keep data and dalvik on internal. Or using Titanium Backup (pro?), move dalvik into the system partition if you keep system partition large enough (about 30-40MB to spare). That frees up the storage on internal.

If you need something really stable and reliable, don't go to anything above android 2.3 based though.
Nice. Not only we got another best rom thread but we collectively evolved to place Jellybean in them.

Chrome issue and YouTube flickering are known issues on that ROM along with WiFi tethering. This is expected on a 3yr old phone.
Apart from that everything else is working as expected. And many can live with the above issues.
And that guy and few others like Nikez and Croni are doing an amazing job to keep our Desire's alive. Else this would have been a forgotten chapter long ago.
And yea stability is for each of his own. For me this works. And JB is addictive too.

Your idea about it is bs. You're an old dumb a** stuck on the thought that GB is stable and nothing else. You aren't ready to think and try beyond that.
So just keep your thinking to yourself and stop bashing and poking into every thread thats appreciative of JB or ICS. As I said earlier, without these great devs, this phone would have been dead long ago.
Learn to respect hard work being done by the devs to keep this phone alive on XDA or anywhere else.
If you're happy with your aged and outdated ROM, you better stick to it.

Tytung's NexusHD2 CM10 ROM (here) shows that it is possible to have a QSD8250/Adreno200 phone running JellyBean perfectly stable with all features working - including 720p H/W decoding. I believe it is just a matter of time before some of the legacy QCOM OMX library modifications done by the likes of tytung and Ganster41 make their way over here and bring some of that same goodness to our Bravos.

Nice. Maybe porting that rom could solve the Desire JB stability problem. They do have the exact same cpu, so it should be easy to port.
Is butter working on the HD2?

You really have to get yourself a life. Same goes to that erklat. I think I am speaking for most of the users here when I tell you to stop nagging and get a freakin life instead of complaining 24-7. WE GET IT, YOU DONT LIKE ICS/JB on Desire.
I think all the hate towards ics/jb came from the fact that a lot of users kept complaining about various bugs, even when the roms where in Alpha state, expecting an ics/jb rom to work like a gb rom on our Desires.
But still, devs have worked hard, and these roms aren't as bad as they used to be, or as bad as some say.
The conclusion is that we shouldn't make any new "best rom" threads.

Hahaha ok. Ur missing the point, its not that i dont like jb, if i didnt like it then why the f**k would i even bother trying them? The fact is that people keep saying they r stable and vj cm10 is stable when it isnt, having "fastest/stable" in the title is a joke coz its far from it.
And all i do is complain 24/7? I got 400 ish thanks coz i helped people fix thier phones, not because i complain.

Look, i know every phone is different and some roms somehow work better on different devices. But when i used it, downloading something using chrome caused the phone to reboot, camera worked then sometimes the screen would go funny and u had close it then open again. The lag came after like 2 days IF u hadnt rebooted ur phone in the 2 days, a reboot took it away. After 2/3 days of my phone being on, if i long pressed the screen to add a widget r that, the popup box (widgets, apps etc) went mental, it was like 50 mashed up little boxes in 1. And ofcourse there a few other bugs that r known.
I never said JB is crap or people shouldnt use it, im not slating it at all or i wouldnt even bother my a$$ trying it, my point was simply that pretty much every1 says its stable when its quite clear its not (yet).
I do respect ALL devs and im glad they keep bringing new roms to our phones, if i didnt then i would be s-on, not rooted and using stock 2.3 gb from htc.

This was actually cyanogenmods decision. They decided to skip cm7 for the snapdragon gs2's (basically ours) and just jump to CM9. Were just waiting for source and an ICS leak so we can get drivers to run it. CM7 is good enough as a DD if you really wanted to use it.
............
i think thats bullshi, that they would do that so dumb y skip on it i dont think we are getting it ics till like august

Because I think they want to focus on the latest OS for our phones, then to work on an older one.
Also, rumors around the forums are that there might be ICS by the end of the month.

Try not to think about it, youll just want a new phone more and more, or an old one, which gets Alphas while we get nothing.
Use the search function next time. At least 20 of these threads. And Im sure we will all forget about cm7 when we get cm9.

Personally, i hate that they decided to skip cm7. I have so many apps so i hate the ics app drawer, i like the widgets, but those can be downloaded, and there are just too many issues for me with ICS. I was really hoping for a stock GB rom instead of Dewizzed, which is kind-of laggy. Guess im stuck with it until after cm9 and probably for another few months while someone else tries to port cm7.
Tbh I dont care how the ****ing thing looks you can always change that ,but I want a good working cm7 like 50% lighter mb wize then most roms
Sent from my SGH-T989 using XDA App
It's understandable you all want CM7, but there's no point in wasting time when they SHOULD be working on an ICS based AOSP ROM instead (CM9). It doesn't make sense from their perspective to work on an obsolete OS for a brand new phone. They'd much rather focus on CM9 for a variety of phones in the meantime of waiting for an ICS release/leak of our S2.
I too am a fan of CM7, as it was my daily driver for my Vibrant...but it doesn't make sense to work on an older version of Android on a new phone when old phones are getting the newest OS.

Have you tried Juggernaut 5.0? I've been running the CM7 alpha since I got this phone and randomly decided to make the switch the other day. I pretty much like everything about it better. Colors look better, no lag - even feels a bit smoother IMO. You might lose a bit of the customization, but there are so many apps out there these days that will give you any of those things it doesn't matter.

As everyone's stated, I think it was all about timing. Our phone, and the skyrocket were released really late in the GB game. ICS will come before too long. I remember the wait for GB years ago, now it's the same thing all over again!
Hey guys.. I've been a One X owner for a while now.. About a month or two. So far I've unlocked my bootloader and flashed ARHD 6.0.0 but im still sort of unhappy about how it works. Multitasking is still horrible and i know that's how its designed by HTC but I am a heavy multitasker and i cant handle that, plus my data limit is 1GB and constantly redrawing webpages on chrome eats my data.
So now im wondering what my options are... If I should leave sense 4.0 out completely. Update to ARHD 7..go CM9... Try Pokemon rom. Idk.
The issues I need sorted out are
1. Multitasking fixed
2. Camera noise/compression MUCH reduced (also the front cam is horrible compared to the S3, if that can be fixed)
3. Battery life. Recently I have no idea why I cant get more than 2-3 hours screen time during the day.. When using the came I barely get 2 hours. This is VERY inconvenient.
4. I prefer the stock ICS switcher. Not HTC's. Not a huge issue though.
So from you guys experiences, whats the best rom to go with? The MOST important thing is the multitasking and battery. Why I haven't been trying roms myself is because I am very very scared to flash again...
Thanks in advance for any input.. Ive done all the searching I can but id really like some advice.. System tuners memory values doesn't do it for me..
Thanks again!

Here is a comparison by timlambo. Also by theDroidfanatic here. If you ask my personal opinion, none is ready yet for everyday use by the masses.....
So it's not a good time to have a walk in the CM10 area yet?
I have tried tgascoignes build 25 and tbaldens preview 4 and must say that tbaldens is in my opinion better. Nothing big differences but tbaldens is more smooth for me. specially with apex launcer that rom is like butter. Dont know about tripandravers rom, but what I have read it seems little more buggy.
What about the AOSP then?

The aosp is doing good at the moment, but please remember, that it still has some work to do. It aslo has the game fix in pathed, but not on the kernel side(In short, you can flash any kernel with this and still play nice games like dead trigger). The latest build of the aosp is being uploaded, so you might want to try it out.
In truth, the best build now, might be pure aosp, or the cm10 from tbalden(Going towards the first choice here).

Agree with this. That and there's been four preview updates in three days shows the commitment that tbalden and the team have to getting this running smoothly.
There are a few little jitters here and there (some echoing on calls) but generally the positives of Jelly Bean are well worth a look if you've rooted and are happy alpha testing new software.

Installed trips CMX yesterday evening. Have four reboots and couple of fc`s so far, performance is quite good thou. On toms or tbaldens rom got no reboots or fc`s at all. For me trips rom is most unstable.
After testing all of the three JB`s I still say that tbaldens one is for me. Best performance and stability. Tom`s is good too in terms of stability, but performance is worse than others. If you search JB rom to start with I would recommend tbaldens one hands down.

Xeleth said:
Before Virtuous Team released their 3.0 kernel, there was no much choice for me but to go for gingerbread.
Image quality is an important factor for me when flashing a ROM and AOSP/AOKP versions never succeed
to satisfy me. Perhaps it's the camera-chip but when using, for example, LC's IceColdSandwich my images
have a lot of noise, blurriness and shakiness (same for other ICS ROMs). Touch-to-focus is something I
cannot live without as well and best support for that is found from Sense 3.5 Camera application.
Now that I have an option of going for full Sense 4.0 with a working camera, that's what is most likely
to become my new "number one". If you like your UI to be 'fluid' and fast-responding, you might not want
to install the Virtuous Infinity just yet but wait it to proceed to beta-stage. ICS is just awesome when you get
the full Sense experience with it! Among Sense 3.0-3.5 ROMs mike's ARHD with RC3D-tweaks is my
absolute favorite. It is the smoothest Sense ROM around and has awesome performance.
What comes to nonsense (he he) ROMs: I've tried quite a few of them, but the features (such as camera)
arejust not as rich as with Sense. Surely you get a better performance but for what? If you don't run on MIUI,
you phone will very likely end up looking pretty ugly with all the old version of apps and launchers from
wherever. MIUI looks nice but I don't like the apple concept, which means no appdrawer and eyecandy over
usability. If you don't mind great looking themes and like the idea of downloading an appdrawer from the
store, MIUI might be the thing.
To make it short:
Virtuous Infinity Alpha1 if you want the full Sense 4.0 with a working camera but don't mind little lagginess.
Android Revolution HD if you're not so much into ICS and like to have a good performance and response.
MIUI if you like your device to look good, not to drain too much battery, and to feel like an apple product.
IceColdSandwich if you want a fast, reliable and finished ICS ROM with stock look and a plain camera.
Hope this is any help to you. Happy flashing!

I have downloaded Coredroid to try (I think battery power might be an issue there)
also downloaded Energized
I agree I wouldn't install a rom without all features working, Well I reckon I'll give the ICS ago at least see how she blows!!! If its not my cup of tea, I like your idea on the Android Revolution HD,

Have tried Android Revolution HD as well, I found it to be a good choice as a daily rom, without bugs.
Will have to try Virtuous Infinity Alpha1

I will have to try Virtuous Infinity Alpha1 as a stable ROM, I have been using JellyBeen by randomblame (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1778202). His ROM is working great so far but is still far from a finished build.
I have tried Andriod Revelution HD

I tried Revolution HD on my DHD since lunch time today, and I have to agree that its simple and is powerful, battery good too! I'm intrigued, not sold! Does anyone else have the same thought, that the settings in notifications would be much better with a lot more settings and with the shortcut when you press and hold down a setting in notifications, it takes you through to contols of that function in the main settings!
Something so simple yet saves so much time! I find that odd, I am hoping 7.0.4 isn't the most recent version, haha, besides that, so far impressed by Revolution HD, seems great

LOL teichopsia why you scaring the guy for
OP, just flash the ROMs you think would be the best for you. Generally people start with Cyanogenmod and go from there. Try the BlackICE ROM, it's pretty cool for a GB ROM. Ice Cold sandwich is the best is ROM at the moment. Or, if you're like me and want to have the breeding edge software, JellyTime is Jelly Bean (Android 4.1.1) which even the GS3 doesn't have yet (although the ROM does have one or two quirks to it

Lol.... It seems that I was in a bad mood that week. Besides that there was a bunch of new members posting the same questions one after the other.
In other words,
I was being sucked down an infernal abyss, until a few members posted comments, links on being helpful. Reminding me what is was to be new.
Go on over to the inspire section and test out absolution. Let me know what you think.

Well Seems I may have missed one during my cleaning.
Ok OP the reason no one can give a straight answer is because there really isnt one. Each device will work differently even when running the same rom. This is due to personal apps and set ups. Not to mention the different hardware in each device. Not all devices are made equally. The best advice you will get is to find a few that you think look good (lmao) and try each one out for a few days. Then before you try a new one make a nandroid backup so you can easily go back. Then make up your own mind on what is the best rom for you.
Just remember to to read the thread a bit for any issues you may come across.
I decided to stop crossing my fingers for an OTA ICS. I have been using skyraider zeus, simply because it seems to be super stable and everything works.
I don't want to install a ROM where i need to "keep in mind" that there are certain things that don't work. For instance, i want the camera to work... i don't want to do work-arounds and hack around with the thing just so i can use it. I don't want dropped calls. I just want it to work 100% like skyraider did.
Are any of the ICS or Jelly bean ROMs at this point yet? If not, what's the latest and most up-to-date ROM that is as good as SRZ?
Loving ParanoidAndroid JB atm, buttery smooth, camera works except for FFC, no other real bugs that I know of. CM9 is also very stable now, or if you like sense, there's a few ROMs out that are pretty much fully functional.

If you want something as rock solid as Zeus you'll need to wait on the 4.x front. Most of the stuff works but it's still not an ideal thing. You may have better luck with one of Nits sense 4 ports. The CM7 ROMs should be fine though.

I love srz I always find myself going back. Cm9 is really stable. Check out nits ukb you can pick 2 different roms I'm using V and everything is working nicely
My wife and I both have DINC2's. I flash all kinds of stuff on mine, and she runs whatever is stable. She ran GingerBang Sense ext4 ever since Nits put it out. It is rock solid! I just recently flashed the new firmware/radio on her's and put her on IC TAZZ. If you want a stable/everything works ICS ROM, then this is it. Trust me, she would let me know if something didn't work. She takes lots of pictures and video, SMS, MMS, etc. No problems.
While many ics and jb roms are very very good, don't use.them if u refuse to deal with any issues or quirks and stick with qb
Ukb v is the most stable ics Rom I've used with everything working fine for me.

So what exactly is still wrong with UKB V. Does UKB X have similar issues?
Does the camera work 100% now? No random reboots?
UKB 2.1

With UKB X 2.1 Camera does not Autofocus when u touch on the screen.. only autofocuses when u shoot.
Camera doesn't stops by itself as seen with UKB V

What Nit said. As of now, every ICS/JB ROM has at least 1 broken feature or instability. I suppose the leaked Chinese OTA may be a feature complete ICS ROM, however you have to live with Sense 3.6. I didn't try that ROM however. The leaked Verizon ROM seems to have some issues on the other hand.

honestly Skyraider Zeus isnt that completely stable. yeah sure most the things work but if it was to be 100% stable that would mean no droped calls / dropped service some gsm users experience. at least i experience it. also roms will never truly be 100% there will always be a problem.
one question does anyone know if theres a good stable ics rom capable of gsm?

^.^ That, my friends, is why one should NEVER take things on the Internet for face value. Else, you may have to palm your face later on.. i.e. you have egg on your face. An actual egg on your face.

flash UKB Evolution, then the camera fix, after the first boot of the rom, uncheck record in stereo in camcorder settings, and your good to go. Rock solid
UKB has inverted FFC video, its driving my wife nuts! Then I can never figure out women always looking at themselves
ArcticICSed ROM is what I've been using for the past few weeks and it's been rock-solid. Everything works including the one feature that no other other ROMs I've installed has (exc. TazzICS which is basically a shadow ROM)...that is when sending a MMS message, the system will automatically turn on 3G. Since the Gingerbread update, this functionality has been disabled and you had to turn on 3G manually when sending and receiving a MMS message.
