Bluetooth Mouses - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

What kind of mouses is everyone using? Been looking for one, but is it really worth spending $75 for one, or are they just as good as the $30 ones?
Also, what remote desktop do you use?

I have a 15 bux connectland bkuetooth mouse that had worked flawlessly on my windows 7 pc for years. Connected and worked as well on my note. I like it as it is a 5 button mouse.. very compact and priced right. Got it on Amazon... why spend the outrageous amount of you don't have to. Now mind you I don't use it. . But it's nice to know it works

Keyboard-
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004HCO4GI/ref=wms_ohs_product
Total of $35. Both are EXCELLENT
Edit: Splashtop (sends audio and is CRAZY fast) and Teamviewer (may send audio..not sure) are great.
For VNC Jump or PocketCloud (great mouse tool) with Ultra VNC or Tiger VNC running on the Desktop. Only one PC can be saved unless you buy the program. Try first and see which works.
Also, different ones work better or worse with dual monitors. That's why you should experiment first. Splash Top can choose between two but not three monitors I think.

Slingplayer for tablets on sale

Just wanted to let everyone know that Slingplayer for tablets is half off. Regularly priced 29.99, now priced at 14.99. Looks great on my Nexus 7 and Xoom. Quality and controls way better than the phone version. Good way to spend some of your 25.00 Google Play dough.

I really need to bite the bullet and buy a Sling box. I watch only 3 channels though :silly:
Definitely worth it if you love sports. NHL package on the go

Dish (which owns sling now) dropped AMC so I won't buy this. Even at $15 it seems too much, on top of this I read elsewhere that its restricted to one device. Can't be installed other Andoid devices.

What you can't do is watch on multiple devices simultaneously. No other restrictions at least AFAIK.
The tablet version works very nicely on my new Nexus. But I'm glad for the Play Store credit + sale.
I hate that I've already payed for my SlingBox and still have to pay for an app. An expensive one at that.

Ah. Gotcha. -- I only have a single SlingBox PRO-HD so I never ran into a condition trying to use the application on multiple devices simultaneously.
I just purchased the Tablet version too with the Play Store Credit. Works great on the N7!

Glad I got my Slingbox for FREE!!! I haven't used it in months, but I may have to try it out again. I'm usually always home, so I don't need to use it much...I might even actually buy the app for $15, I didn't buy it at $30...haha

OBD-II scanner for GS3?

hey guys.
I've been wanting to get my hands on a OBD-II scanner to check out my car and have with me when we are out car-shopping in the next couple of months.
looking at the play store, I think I want to get Torque Pro as the software, but i'm wondering what hardware to get. I don't mind it being wired, micro-usb. don't need fancy bluetooth or wifi scanners. i just want it to be good but not overly expensive.
any recommendations?
if you get something setup can you please post your setup?
This is all you need along with the torque app. It's the exact one I'm using.
http://pages.ebay.com/motors/link/?nav=item.view&id=160902041473
I'm using it and its working gr8!! Make sure your car supports obd2 before you buy it and the guy from torque app recommended good warranty from the seller. I'm assuming they break easily.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
Just as a heads up...if you plan on using it for logging, the bluetooth ones typically read pretty slow. If it is just for code reading, that is pretty decent.
wow that is awesome. and so cheap. I'm really only looking for reading codes so I can spot those issues when shopping for cars and whenever I get a check engine light. my mechanic is a close childhood friend and he's got the $5000(+?) computer + scanner setup but i want this for smaller things so I don't have to bother him all the time.
I'll get my hands on these and report on how it works.
I paid close to thirty over two years ago for that same unit and I don't regret it at all.... works great. the torque app is one of the better if not the best app keeping up to date. I highly recommend this set up
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda premium
why did I think this would be a several hundred dollar set up?
anyways, I'm hoping it's good. already ordered mine with expedited shipping. i'll wait to get torque when I receive the hardware.
thanks everyone!
I also can confirm that bt obd2 scanner and torque work great on my sch-i535 with jb

Is there something like this but to read RPMs and fuel compsomtion on real time or something like that?
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda premium
This can read rpms in real time, and a lot of other things. I'll take some screen shots when I head out later.
are there any bluetooth obd-II readers that *don't* work with the GSIII? I was looking at a different one, so just curious if there was a certain type to stay away from.
I have this one: http://www.scantool.net/scan-tools/obdlink-bluetooth.html
It's worked great for me so far. Other than some PIDs not pulling because Ford wants to use proprietary codes, it's pulled everything I could want. I've used Torque, DashCommand, and a few other apps I can't remember right now, with no problems.

This one has some good reviews, too:
http://www.amazon.com/BAFX-Products...mpatible/dp/B005NLQAHS/ref=pd_bxgy_auto_img_z
Lets be clear. the BT OBD2 has no limits. its a "dumb dongle"
the "intelligence" is in your car and in the software you run.
Torque will read just about anything SO what "YOU" can read is dictated by what the manufacturer of your car elected to make available over the ODBII data pipe.
fuel air and rpm are usually available.
that makes it sound even better. awesome. can't wait to get mine. should be here monday.
I actually just got the bafx scanner and bought torque pro. Its pretty nifty stuff and not a bad price.

Yep, I have the same setup. Works perfectly. The Dev for Torque also updates regularly, so he is staying on top of new cars.
And any US car made after 1996 is supposed to have an OBD-II connector, usually located under the steering wheel near the fuse panel (for most cars made in late 90's at least.)
Looks like fun! That ebay link doesn't list 02 Toyota camry but I know it has a obd2 port.. Maybe it's just not listed?

Coldfustion has quite a few great videos on his YouTube channel. One of which is a how to on how to set up your note the way he has it set up. It's more of a how to for go launcher than anything. But it's very helpful. His review of the new Apple iPod was even entertaining, as he references is no note 2. LoL!

Yeah, I have my note 2 setup like his and people are blown away on how I did it. I am using most of his wallpapers so the phone's background never is the same. He is pretty artistic in the way he has everything setup.
That's awesome! Maybe I'm missing something, but from what I see, everything he's using is native, there's no special software except that floating browser software. Then obviously the hardware (adapter, mouse, keyboard).
Does anybody know what UI he's got?

No, both apple lol. I am guessing he might be using blue tooth for one and usb for the other.
Both bluetooth. I used to use em with my iPad (which I sold to buy a non contract note 2). The apple magic mouse, however, only can use its nice touch features while connected to a mac so its really just a simple, thin mouse. The logitech version of the keyboard has a nice case that it comes with, might be a good alternative.

It might be confusing in the beginning but as you watch the video, pause it and do each step as he tells you. The end result will be so worth it.
Great video, as soon as that dock releases, I plan to do something like this.
Nice video. It would be great to see how well Ubuntu (or some other favorite linux distribution) does. This would give you many other office and math applications to use. Anyone try linux on android yet? Downside would be that it has no audio. But performance should be very good.
Amazing stuff. While I'd have to wait for a dock myself, the USB-to-go cable looks like a wonderful alternative. Now, if I can find a reasonably priced portable monitor, I could truly go mobile - no need to worry about lugging around a laptop.
I wonder where he got the tripod or phone holder for the Note 2. . .
Yeah, can't wait to play all my games on the big screen, Arcane Legends, NFS MW, Shadow Gun Dead Zone !!

After seeing this I decided to give it a go. Sadly I don't have a mouse or the MHL connector yet, but it seems to work, at least for productivity. Got ubuntu 12 running with minimal effort, working on debian right now to see which I prefer. It seems pretty hard to use without a mouse, and I am lazy so instead of searching my house for a spare mouse, because I am unwilling to unplug the mouse from my desktop, I instead ordered a cheap bluetooth mouse. When I have everything I will probably make a video for myself.

Universal Remote control for S4

Anyone knows of any app that can use our S4's IR to control things like the Harmony remote or things like:
garage door opener, tv, xbox360, ps3, amp receiver thermostat, ac...?
Is CM is going to generate some app built-in like this? This would be good PR I think.
As far as tv is concerned it has samsung watch on but while the others are nice not sure if anything is actively in the pipeline but also not sure the general public is ready for that given ir vulernablity in such cases when not secured.....

I bought this and it works great. Programmable macros, custom remotes, huge device support (you can even manually enter in IR codes for devices it doesn't have - S4 hardware doesn't support IR learning though) that is constantly growing, the devs are very quick to respond and improve the app.

I think that remote app connects to the base via wifi or bluetooth.
It does not send IR signals from the phone itself.

In case anyone else wondering...
I bought it yesterday. It only picked up the Sony TV, Dvd player, Onkyo av receiver.
It did not detect Pioneer tv, PS2 (with IR dongle), PS3
It did work powering on the Xbox360, but cannot turned off and other buttons did not work.
It does not have any option for garage door opener (Genie).
Hrm...I wonder if it'll work with car alarm too? I'll write the request to the dev about this.
I think only way to make this grow fast is if CM or some org with bunch of testers worldwide assist with building up the collection.
Does anyone know if the Touchsquid is better or worse than this Smart Remote?

They are not selling an app. They are selling a universal rf remote with ir base station to control out of sight components. It just so happens to also include an app to control the ir base station over wifi. The functionality of this remote is way beyond what meets the eye.
These universal remotes are for home theatre junkies. While I do not currently own that model, I do own two of their remotes. I promise you when it comes to harmony remotes, that one isn't expensive at all.

I'm not sure what most people are using they're tablets for but IMO this is still a pretty good tablet. Its got a decent camera for a tablet, quick enough for internet, email, Netflix and videos, HDMI connection for my TV, SD card port. But I mainly use it as an e-reader!

Mine does triple duty primarily- depending on the situation.
It is still used off and on to navigate web and to read Kindle books.
On road trips it's my map display tethered to a MIFi.
When at home it's on my night stand and serves as a real time weather display.
