Option 1: type ##8778# and connect to PC to flash PRL with QPST
Option 2:
WARNING: FOLLOWING THESE INSTRUCTIONS WILL WIPE EVERYTHING FROM YOUR EPIC (but should fix it)
-Pull the phone's battery and put it back in.
-slide out the keyboard and hold 1 while holding the power button
-it should now be in download mode.
Hook it up to ODIN and flash a stock rom/tar. That will have a PRL included in it (not the most current) and will flash it.

Tried that but the phone has no prl and the radio is off and qpst shows no phone on the com port it is a deactivated phone with a bad esn so I was going to get it ready for a cricket flash but the phone has been restored back to stock and wiped clean like never been activated so EVERYTHING is gone except for the min and meid. No prl no, service radio off mobile data disconnected, and the msl has been changed to 000000. I have done Odin to stock fc09 and tried everything but got in touch with sprint. If cricket actives it should it turn on the service radio so I can get a prl back on phone or is the phone screwed.

Try odin with fc09 again, but this time check efs clear...

I thought the prl was hard written in the phone not in any rom or stock software What does Efs do

[Q] How do I go from JB back to fi27 rooted?

Trying to figure out how to go from jb 4.1.1 jro03 to ics fi27. it's not the newest jb leak that just came out. the one from around a month or 2 ago. says my baseband version is ff18. if that means anything.
i'm having data connections in my home town and have to call sprint. when they tell me to dial ##*****# it wont do nothing. when i try to do system updates it calls sprint customer service and nothing happens. so i need to put it back to ics so i can get my data issue fixed. just wanna have the latest version of ics rooted. dont care of factory reset. i have everything backed up
they will wanna disconnect me from the network to fix the issue. they just did it to my wifes e4gt and it worked. i am in north dallas and they are upgrading the towers (data upgrades). i haven't had decent connection since friday when they started.
thanks for any help in advance.

let me get this right before i start.
choose the fi27 rooted option, rom no data, rooted? can i preserve my data going from jb to ics? sorry still a newbie at this.
No if you're downgrading from jb to ics you need to wipe user data. Oh and baseband is your modem btw so you're running ff18 modem it has no connection to what rom you run
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda app-developers app
It is best to wipe data when downgrading. You can however use titanium backup to make a backup of your user apps, then after wiping and installing FI27 you can then restore your apps and data. I've had no issues doing that. It just doesn't work if you try to restore a JB specific app.

Phone stuck in airplane mode

So I flashed pa2.53 and the 4.2 gapps and got signal, then I tried the nexus4g modem still no signal. Then tried to odin back to stock now my phone is stuck in airplane mode. I've flashed other roms before and lost the modem but was always able to flash back or odin another modem. Is there anyway I can fix this besides flashing back to stock and going to sprint?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda app-developers app
Reflash PA, NS4G AIO, and gapps again. Only way I could fix it 2 weeks ago.
You may have to flash the AIO twice to get it to stick.

I've tried that and has worked in the past. This is different though now its stuck in flight/airplane mode. I'm hoping its not a hardware issue
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda app-developers app
Are you wiping before the reflash or dirty flashing?
If wiping, looks like an Odin back to stock might be the only solution.

check /system/lib and delete libsec-40.so
check build prop and make sure epic rill is "#"ed out and crespo ril is in.
i am assuming you want crespo 4g modem. its not likely you will have to odin.
I've done clean installs more than once and odin with victory pit and d700-fco9 tar which always did the trick before. None of that is working. Although I still get wifi.

Clean installs won't help. The only way you can get out of it is by clearing the NvRam. Download the respective modem.bin file of the current stock Rom you are on, b. Flash it using old Odin1.8* with Phone EFS clear and auto reboot ticked. Update your PRL and Nam if you have a backup. That should get your phone working.
Samsung Galaxy™ SIII Tapatalk
After dealing with this same issue and the nexus patch (which I stopped using for better compatibility), just ODIN the FC09 modem.bin. It can be found among the sticky threads.

? im guessing you don't want my help, suite yourself.
I currently have this problem as well. I'm stuck using the nexus modem. I did odin back to stock and was able to get back on the stock modem BUT when I try to flash CM7 or CM9 it flashes it but brings up "no service". Sooooo what's the secret...???? Please help me...

Either Odin with the EFS clear then flash the Epic modem or there is some kernel jumping game someone mentioned.

Yep I did that. I odin and cleared EFS. (As long as I'm on stock, Im back on the FC09 modem). So once I verified that, I flashed CM7 and it says no service. I must be missing a step or something. Is there a step by step on how to get back to epic modem from a nexus modem? If not, maybe we should think about creating one.

Did you verify service on stock? It needs to go through hands-free activation.

Yep....did handsfree activation and I had service.....while on stock....So after I did that, I rooted again and flashed cm7....then I received no service.

Which CM7? With or without the Nexus modem kernel?
The stock CM7 is in this thread:

No Signals! Help!!

Hi,
By mistake I wrote some NV items(related to provisioning data) but after that my phone is getting no signals. Also the PRL is coming as default and not with any PRL version no.
I have flashed many ODIN files but its not getting any signals.
Can anyone help to rectify the issue?
(few screenshots attached for your reference)
Can you rewrite them? Also, you might try a one click restore.

Through CDMA WS. Actually to provision data on my network (India), we have to flash the NV file which writes the appropriate items to the phone. In this case, I flashed a wrong file and it resulted in modem goes busted.

Then just flash the correct file. Seems like a possible fix. Did you also try to re-flash the modem?

That did the trick! Additionally I have ticked on EFS clear and believe it cleared all the junk data out of it!
Thanks

Rom/Modem Combo for Dfs/cdmaws?

I used mobile Odin to go from 4.0.4 to 4.1.2. Now I lost 3g and cannot update profile through dfs. The 16 digit password does not work on 4.1.2. I downgraded back and it still won't accept the default password. Any help? What rom and modem to Odin to?
##Im going to try and Odin to gb (el29) and see if that brings it back.

Are you on a S3 SPH-L710? or on an E4GT SPH-D710?
Most likely you're on an ICS modem and not an JB modem.
Just flash a JB modem in odin and update profile and PRL afterwards. You should be good after that.
I have E4GT that is flashed to vzw prepaid but I'm on my s3. I can't use update profile because it's a sprint phone flashed on Verizon. Which modem would bring my 3g back? A specific one?

A JB modem (FK23-GB27) But NOT FL24. But I'm not sure if that will mess with being flashed to Vzw.
If I odin back to gb can I use a gb modem? (el29) also does this version work with dfs to your knowledge
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app
If you one click (pc Odin) it will give you rom, modem and stock recovery.
Any one click; el29 to gb27 is the entire schebang

Omg nv data gone!!

I've never ever thought this could or would happen ... and im very aware of efs baxkup procedure i just didnt do it to this phone I have flashed 100times nevr lost my imei info.
Least I think that's what happened I am on metro t999n s3
I tried to flash the tmo 4.3 leak version knox free by doc holiday77 and when it booted had no signal said insert sim. So I nandroid back to stock SIM STILL NOT DETECTED.
What happened what can I do.
Is there a fix
I think that 4.3 rom is the cause of this
Sent from my SGH-T999N using xda app-developers app
Also sound dissapeard
Could this have to do with flashing the 4.3 mj4 modem when I flashed the leak it said to flash it in the rom install log.
Shouldn't a nandroid restore even restore nvdata efs all that ?
I've restored backup 3 times before from 4.3 to 4.1.2 and never had this issue until this last time I tried to flash 4.3 deodoxed and then restore to 4.1.2 sound gone
Data gone signal gone No Sim inserted Error

Being aware of EFS backup routines and not employing at least one of the options is negligent. terminal > su > reboot nvbackup. How hard is that?
Now that you are no longer on the leak, you should reflash the old modem (LJC/MD5/whatever you were using).

Look thanks man, was neglect on my part its fixed now. .. reason I thought was worse cause I thought restoring my backup also would restore the shipped modem.. I didn't realize you have to reflash the firmwarefirmware modem..
Thanks. . I accept the fault
