Stock un-rooted, not going into deep sleep - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

Hey guys,
Just got my GS3 yesterday and it was working perfectly fine until today. For some reason it never goes into deep sleep, (checked via cpu spy). What's the best way to find out what's keeping the phone awake?
Thanks in advance guys.

Try better battery stats app in the market and checking both partial and kernel wakelocks, I'm pretty sure you can see those without root.

Open up maps make sure gps is on and let it lock in on your location. Once it locks exit map turn off gps reboot and I'm pretty sure it will go into deep sleep.

Syncloopwakelock? What is it?

I noticed on the better battery stats app that the top of my wakelock list is something called Syncloopwakelock. It's been active for 41 minutes and has a count of 2317!!! It also accounts for 87% of my device wake time.
What the heck is it?

Hi, I am getting the same thing on my sensation running ARHD 6.0.3. My battery isnt dropping below 20mA when its sleeping. Did you manage to find out what this was?
cheers

Nope. I was never able to find out more about it and it continues to be in my top three wake locks regardless of what I do.

I'm wondering the same thing, On my GNex SyncLoop has a count of 1835, but only says 1s for total time. It is the highest count of wakelock items and currently my phone is at 75% awake, and it's been sitting on my desk screen off almost all day.
This is killing my battery and just started recently.
Seeing a far amount of wakelocks here from this. SGS 2 pre release build 4.0.3
Only seeing this since I upgraded to 4.0.2... so much for better battery life over 4.0.1!
Hi, are you guys running custom roms? I updated my version of ahrd to 6.1.2 and now that wake lock appears waaay down in my list.
I also realised that my main battery drain was the radio trying to hold onto the 3g connection in bad signal areas, ie at home. If I manually switched to GSM I saw an amazing improvement, so now I use a great app called toggle 2g to switch to2g when using WiFi or sleeping Search for it in the forums. Works with locale too although I find that to be an over zealous wake lock itself
[Solved]

(unrooted)100-79% in 2.5hrs standby battery drain :(

as the screenshots say, the battery drain is weird, can anyone tell me why this happened ..
multi picture live wallpaper is on, could it be that ?
sync is off, google now is off
Maybe your phone isn't deep sleeping because of wakelocks, it could be your wifi, but that shouldn't really be a problem, especially on standby for only 2.5 hours. If you wanna make sure your phone enters deep sleep mode, download the "CPU spy" app on the market.
Edit: oh i see your unrooted, i dunno if that app works on unrooted phones, but the off your live wallpaper and see if that helps.

Phone not sleeping with torch on

I've noticed recently that when using the torch on my phone the phone doesn't go to sleep, in fact it keeps running at 400MHz. It definitely didn't used to do this because I could leave it on for hours andit would hardly drain the battery. Now it shoots ddown.
Any ideas why? I'm using Omega 9.1 with Redpill, whatever the latest is. The same happens with the status bar control or tesla led.
Any ideas about this? Strange that turning the torch on makes the phone stay at 400MHz. Also when using the status bar Assist Light function the UI crashes if auto rotate is on and the phone turns.
Well it's not the Redpill kernel. I just flashed Perseus and it's the same. Seems it's stuck at 200, not 400 like I thought earlier. I might try the newest Omega to see if that helps.
It might not sleep (which imo sounds normal since it has a task going on)
But leaving your flash on for hours cannot be good for it.

I'm fairly sure it didn't before but I might be wrong. I noticed my phone warming up while using it in work during the week (when the electric was off) which it definitely didn't do before.
Can't see any reason why it would be bad. Plenty of LED torches out there, it'll just use up the battery a bit.
No it's not bad. Even if the flash goes out for excessive usage it's pretty cheap to replace. But the device shouldn't go to deep sleep, it's not only a torch, it's an app running, that's why it could never go to deep sleep, normal.

Fair enough. I may have been getting mixed up with the FM radio. That deep sleeps unless radio information is turned on. And I was using the torch at the same time so may have got mixed up possibly.

[Q] Trinity Kernel Deep Sleep issue

I've recently installed Trinity kernel to my toroplus and performance seems to have improved but the device isn't going into deep sleep. I've gotten a GPS lock but that hasn't helped. Any thoughts?
Come on, anybody?
You would do better to bring this to the Trinity Kernel thread.
Try flashing these GPS drivers, it says Verizon wireless but I flash them every ROM I use and I'm on toroplus:https://copy.com/fkBy3

Well my GPS is locking a lot faster now, so thank you! But still no deep sleep. Sucks because the performance is really great, but without deep sleep the battery is obviously unusable.
Download deep sleep battery pro app

Galaxy S3 gets really hot

I recently flashed my new Boostmobile Galaxy S3 with Stock JB 4.3 unrooted with An official Stock Sprint S3 ROM JB 4.3. After doing all i wanted to do with the phone it works 100% but the battery drains quickly and the phone gets really really hot at random times and even when its not in use. I tried an app called "Usage Timelines" to see what eating my phone up. And found out that Total CPU Load can be 80%, 90% And even 100% but the remaining apps are JUST 0% except for KNOX. CAN SOMEONE HELP ME OUT.

This is not a result of your flash. Sounds like a hardware issue.

Try going into stock recovery and doing a factory reset. That may clear some issues?

Thanks guys for your reply, After a day of monitoring i noticed it only heats up when the data is On because Its normal with data off. even when on wifi it doesn't heat up. @bradley129 yes i suspected its not the flash but it started after i flashed the sprint ROM.
I agree, I've had the same problem. I flashed the OTA update with Knox removed--no special ROM or kernel or anything. Right after, my battery started draining quickly--like today I was at 38% after about 4 hours of the phone just sitting there. And the phone has been very hot--leading me to believe that something is running nonstop--most likely something that I don't WANT running.
So, after looking around, I found a few things. There are a couple of settings that the OTA decided to change on me.
One of them was this "nifty" feature of flashing the flash when the phone rings. I don't get that many calls, but still. Fix that by going into SettingsMy deviceAccessibility, then check and uncheck Flash Notifications (near the bottom)--yes, it's not checked. But it is checked. Nice feature.
Sprint connections optimizer--is now performing wakeups and staying awake. I turned it off.
I also found this thread and installed a couple of apps to help me find other culprits. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2357417
Greenify
Battery Doctor (since the Better Battery Stats cost)
Wakelock Detector
I didn't go as far as the post did. I basically ran the Wakelock Detector and identified Connections Optimizer as a bad guy. And looked with Battery Doctor at what was using the most battery. And used Greenify to turn off some apps that were waking up that didn't need to--like my yoga app, and Pandora (both of which I use infrequently anyway).
