[Q] How to enable transparent status bar in stock Rom

Hey guys any one having any ideas how to enable tranparency in stock 2.3.5 rom. I don't want to flash other Rom.

I think you can theme it using UOT kitchen.

Or use Apk manager and manually edit the img using gimp/photoshop or use uot kitchen like the user said above me

It obviously won't work since the framework is not supporting. BTW I tried it.

Same for you framework won't support.
I think it needs some smali editting.

so.. is there a way to enable a transparent status bar in the stock rom or not?

open systemui.apk with winrar in mdpi folder extract it find the image that looks like a statusbar and edit it with photoshop to have transparency.

upload your systemUI.apk and PM it to me, I'll see what I can do. how many percent transparency 70,80,60%?
Edit: rename to statusbar_background.png. Drag this to dwble-mdpi folder in winrar, SystemUI.apk

okay, it doesn't work on odexed roms. systemui.apk permantly fc and after a reboot the systemui.apk doesnt load.

Doesnt it needs .xml or smali file editing?...will it work on odex 2.1?
Any way i have edited the status bar icons (not changed)....after flashing...phone shows stock iconz..
I have edited in systemui mdpi folder only...

I never tryed but i think we have to change .png file like einstein.frat said, and edit .xml file and set background of status bar to #00000000.

Sorry that I didn't see my own thread actuallymy xda app has some problems. It just doesn't show any updates. I really don't know why. Well I just wanted to reply that I actually ficured it out and all thanks goes to Einstein.frats Rom. I took the deodexed systemuiapk and placed a transparent pbackground ongoing in it and it worked. The Rom is m1ndhx8r Rom.
Sorry if I got the name wrong. I have. Also made a theme its in the wildfire s's. themes forum.

Hey guys this is my first theme I wanna share with you all.
Please have a look and tell me if you like it. Will try to make it better and better.

Instructions:
1. The transparent status bar
Can't be obtained on a odexed systemui.apk so I took a deodexed apk and then nodded it.So if you are on a odexed ROM then you'll have to first delete the systemui.odex file using root browser then flash the uot package.
2. To apply the dock and the icons you can use Launcher pro(tested) or ADW.
3. For the lock screen you can download the apk and place it in system/app and set the permissions to rw- r-- r-- . Please note this apk will run only on ODEXED ROM . This apk is not DEODEXED. (Because I couldn't get a DEODEXED htclockscreen.apk)

Looks awesome. Ill dl it see if it works cause themes don't seem to work for my phone too often. I like the way the bar at the bottom looks.

Well I can tell you it works with stock ROM or many of its derivatives.
Please see if you only want the dock just follow the step 2
And if you want it with the themed lockscreen then try step3 but for 3 you would require odexed rom.

How many MB internal memory left after fresh install?
If around 60mb- de odex
Above 100- odex

Some thing around 60 aft tat I hav moved the dalvik cache to SD-Ext now 125 internal memory I got so its deodex izit ??

Hey Honda just checked , am not having any problems with the apps drawer neither in rosie nor in launcher pro.
Edit: Found a problem in notification area the notification text is black . Tried to edit in uot but didn't work. Will ask someone for help about which CMO is to be editted.

Dude just check your rom zip file open system/ app than if you find .odex with all apps than you have odex one...

The problem comes from mediafire, I have send their message and I expect the answer. I have re-uploaded the file and I have always the same message. I have this message on two files, all other work very well ... Strange :what:

I have always done like this and I've never lost data, if you're afraid you can do a nandroid backup before installing

it is very good, but i have some problem
i use on crossfire v.1 rom
1.
it seems that this my rom doesnt provide "task manager"
so when i install this theme, i see task manager with info total memory - used and free
but when i clicked it, it says The application Status Bar (process com.android.systemui) has stopped unexpectedly...
and sometimes it dont restart the process itelf so i have to reboot
can you help me? maybe providing me the appropriate com.android.systemui

when i want to choose Clock Widget, it doesnt show the thumbnail
so i have to blind-choose it, although it works good

Hi Kawung,
1 - you can try to copy Taskmanager.apk in System/app folder of your phone and it should work
2 - about the Clock Widget thumbnail, i forgot to update it when i modded the widget

mmm...although it show the information reversed
when not clicked it says used 167mb free 252mb..but when clicked used 252mb free 167mb
