Hi
I have a GT-N7100, unrooted running android 4.1.1
Two days ago I connected it to my girlfriends laptop and transferred about 20 pictures and one short film to the external SD card. I watched the film later the same evening and transferred the a few of the pictures to DropBox.
Today when I went to show my girlfriend the film it was gone! Absolutely nowhere to be found!
I have searched with Solid Explorer and it turned up 4 screen prints I took the first time I viewed the film but nothing else.
About an hour ago I connected my Note to the laptop again to carry out some test.
I created a file "Test" on the "root"? (where the only two other files are DCIM and LOST.DIR). I placed one picture in this folder and disconnected from the laptop.
After a short time (under 1 minute) the folder appeared in the gallery and i could view the picture. 30 minutes later it was gone again. I downloaded QuickPic to see if the problem was with the Samsung gallery. The folder was not visible in QuickPic until I chose "Show hidden" from the menu. Now I could see the folder but not the picture!
I the connected again to the laptop to see if the folder was visible but could not connect and got a "Hardware ID missing" warning! When I connected earlier the folder that I had created two days ago was not visible!
Thi is the first time I have used the SD card since I purchased it.
Help is appreciated
I think you need to test with another sd card
scribbled from my note 2 (N7100)
I formatted it from the settings and it seems to work now.

I am probably regret asking a noob question but for some reason my A100 is never recognized by Ubuntu on the usb. This is on a dualboot machine and everything is fine in windoze but reboot into ubuntu plug it back in and no ones home. I can mount the windows partitions and copy stuff there to move over but would like to get this sorted out so it doesn't matter what I'm running. I'm hoping this will be a DOH! kinda thing I've missed but so far nada.
I've had my A100 for about 2 weeks now. Just getting comfortable with it. It was a replacement for my recently deceased palm lifedrive. My wife bought it for me as she said I was getting "grumpy" without my toy. The A100 is what Palm should have done with the Lifedrive 8 years ago. Other than the screen size and the gps the rest was all there.
You need to install mtpfs acertabletforum.com/forum/acer-icon...ions/129-connecting-via-usb-linux-ubuntu.html I just set it up yesterday it works fine but there is one universal drive for both internal sdcard and external sd. And the external is the only drive that can be written to. I think the media database can get corrupted easily. Mine showed files that were long since deleted, eventually I got it working right.
I ran through that and while it sees the tablet the only thing it shows is a empty folder called "playlist" when the a100 is mounted. I had to tweak the commands a wee bit for the 100 but basically the same. What this changed is that the A100 is now seen or something is and you can try and mount it. Previously all I could do was see it listed with lsusb. Bit closer anyway.
My 100 is bone stock ie non rooted I wonder if the problem is simply settings permissions ?
Had the same problem only the Playlist directory, I deleted all files in /data/data/com.android.providers.media/databases/. Then made sure there were images on internal and external, opened them in the native Galllery from a file manager. Then opened the Gallery and made sure they were there. Also used Development.apk (Dev Tools) and ran the Media Scanner.
It seems like a bit much but it eventually repopulated the databases. Without being rooted the files can't be deleted but the other steps might help. I actually went through those steps a few times before it finally worked.
I'm running the 9-11-12 M1 nightly, and I'm experiencing an issue with my SD card. I haven't seen anything posted about it so my apologies if this has already been addressed. Really I'm having two issues, and they may be related.
Firstly, I can browse the SD card via windows explorer when I hook my phone up via USB, and my SD card shows up with accurate usage readings within settings/storage on my phone. However, whenever I try and use my file explorer on my phone, or any other feature that involves accessing the files on my SD card, I cannot. Apollo picks up my music, and the gallery pics up my pictures/video but nothing else seems to detect my SD card.
Secondarly what is happening is that everything on the SD card is being duplicated, as well as deleted, at random. Suddenly my gallery shows doubles of everything with one file being the normal picture and the other being completely blank (however with the same detail information). I view my phone via windows explorer and every folder is doubled, with one set of folders having the appropriate files and the other having various filetypes as numbers, as in instead of "picture1.png" it'd be "picture1.13." And then they'll suddenly all disappear. I listened to music via apollo on my way to work. I get to work and hook up my phone to the computer with the intention of copying some songs for a co-worker, and the entire music folder is gone along with all my pictures.
I don't know if this is a CM10 error, a hardware issue with the SD card, or I'm missing some sort of setting. Any advice at all would be helpful.

Have any luck with this? I've got a similar issue. It sees the sd card in storage and if I go into the gallery, the pics on it are grayed out, but if I try to use an app that needs storage, it says no sd card present.
I have a galaxy blaze, just found this post when searching for an answer.
Bump...same problems.

Hi
I've recently bought a galaxy note 2 and had before htc sensation xe.
the note 2 running android 4.1.1 and the sensation xe running android 4.0
I used to store most of my old phone's files (sensation xe ) in external sd card
when I moved the sd card to the galaxy note 2 I couldn't see all my files.
let me give you some examples :
I've ( 6 ) whatsup history backups in my old phone stored in the sd card. When I moved the sd card to galaxy note II the device could't find these files
another example the music and vedio files stored in the sd card, they aren't shown as well.
when I removed the sd card from galaxy note 2 and put it back in sensation xe all the files are there....
any ideas on how to tackle this problem and get all my sd card files shown in the galaxy note 2 ?
I have subscribed to this thread as I have had similar problems.
I recently connected my GN2 to my PC, created a folder, placed a short film and abjut 40 pictures. It dissappeared from my phone after less than a day!? It was definitely there for a while as I was able to view the whole film and the pictures shortly after the phone was disconnected from the PC.
When I later reconnected the phone to the PC the folder was not visible.
If anyone can shead some light on this problem I would be very grateful.
I apologise to you smartways if consider this thread-napping.
My SD-card was formatted by the phone. It has not been used in another phone.

No problem at all my friend ,, two hands should clup better than one hand
Hi guys. I tried to browse for answers regarding this issue, but I couldn't find anything that worked for me,
I've gotten to a point where any time I either download a single picture from Whatsapp or take a photograph with my phone, I get the "There's not enough space in your device memory". I discovered that neither deleting apps nor manually moving them to my external SD card had any effect on this. I have tried many kinds of apps that move your apps to the SD card, but it hasn't worked. I installed an SDK on my computer in order that the phone would install apps onto the external SD card by default. This didn't make the issue go away.
This is very frustrating. I have double checked every single folder inside "sdcard0" and there are no big files taking up space. I'm running on a stock, non-rooted 4.1.2.
I recently deleted around 300 - 400 pictures from my external SD card and the following time I connected the phone to my computer, I noticed the phone's memory had like 400 mb of free space that it didn't before (and yes, I was ABSOLUTELY sure those pictures where stored in my external SD). But just a couple of days after that, the space issue got even worse than before, saying that I had no memory left at all (it would usually display the message when I had like 69 mb left, if I remember correctly). Using Cleanmaster helps like 4 out of 10 times, but thanks to it, I've noticed that the phone is creating 3 Photo thumbnails files: two which are 520 mb in size (stored in DCIM) and another one called Gallery Thumbnails which is 1.02 GB. I suppose at least one thumbnails file is created automatically after deleting it, but I don't understand why I have 3.
I found a thread made by someone with the same issue, and someone suggested to uninstall all Google Play updates, or something like that. I did that, and it didn't work.
I hope you can help me find a solution, and I hope I'm not posting this in the wrong place. Thanks in advance.
Could you show us a screenshot of your storage in settings?

There you have all my storage information. The phone's not presenting the issue right now, and as you can see in USB storage, I have 500 mb of free space, but it's always like that: I have a lot of free space, and one or two days later I try to open a picture I just took or downloaded, and it says I have 0 mb left. I connect the phone to my PC and it shows the "phone" storage completely full.
What I don't understand is why it shows that I have 528 mb of pictures and videos in USB storage, when I'm 100% sure all that is stored in my external SD. Could it be that those 528 mb are actually a thumbnails file?
I am having the exact same problem! Running 4.1.2 firmware, this just recently started happening... I've reformatted the internal USB memory twice but the problem keeps reoccurring.
I try to get into the image gallery sometimes and it will say something like "You only have 50mb of space left, delete some files" and then it either forces me to quit or go into the file manager. But there are no pictures or video on my phone at all!
I've noticed that the DCIM folder on the internal memory was MASSIVE (600mb+ despite having no files whatsoever), so I connected it to my computer and manually deleted it and rebooted the phone, only to find that DCIM had replaced itself with a slightly smaller size (450mbs) and is continuously growing. Reformatting the USB every week or so is becoming a big hassle.
What's going on? Could the internal memory be fried? Is this a bug that can be fixed somehow? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
OK so I have a problem that I am not sure that can be fixed.
I gave my daughter a Samsung Tab 3 Lite. Keep in mind my daughter was like 4 years old when she got it. All she would use it was to watch her cartoons and to take pictures and videos. She for some reason changed her password with help of her older sister and then stopped using it for a couple months. She does not remember the password that she put on it so we cant unlock it and typing the incorrect pin gives us the try in 30 seconds message but it does not give me the option of logging in using my google account.
I have searched the internet to try to unlock it and the easiest and most popular option is a hard reset and that is where the problem is. She has tons of pictures and videos of our dog that we had for 12 years who recently had to be put down due to cancer. If I do a hard reset all those pictures and videos will be gone.
The question I have now for this community is if there is any way to either bypass the lock screen or transfer the pictures and videos to an Micro SD card or my computer?
The tablet has a stock ROM.
Thanks in advance for helping/trying to help.
Maybe flash TWRP or CWM with Odin and use file manager to copy media folder to SD card?
