is there any need of factory reset and system format... i think that it would work fine if one only wipes cache, dvalik and battery stats...?

i ve formated system just to be on the safe side ,you dont lose anything if you do,
anyway may i ask you?if i delete kernel tuner will all the options go to deafult? eg. it has enabled only one core if i delete it will the two cores be enabled or the one will stay disabled forever?

No idea. I didn't like kernel tuner, it seemed rubbish to do anything with so i made sure both cores were active then uninstalled it
Sent from my Jellybean Xperia S

Same here, didn't like kernel tuner. Make sure u have the proper settings before you uninstall it. At least the clock frequency stays the same as set by kernel tuner. Other features I don't know whether it stays or gets reset.

Installing Nova RC2
The Nova rom uses Aroma installer which actually very easy to use. There is an option at the beginning of the installation that asks if you want to wipe everything and I have tried it and worked fine.

Can anyone help me?
My Xperia S will not turn on. Some problems like no speaker output (but earphones worked and speaker worked in calls, although quiet...) prompted me to change roms. I successfully flashed numerous roms.
I am in no way blaming the creator for this rom, however can someone please help me? The second to last rom I installed and reinstalled was this rom. It worked well but did not solve the audio problem. I went back to stock... it was nearly dead (battery). Now it won't turn on. I only have the usb cable, no wall charger, but I've charged for hours... tried flashtool, emma, sus, a repair shop, etc, etc.
I am not familiar with opening up hardware. My receipt is 3000km away. Is there anything I can do? I never dropped it hard... One time with the case on and protector, like 2.5 feet. It was fine though. If I send it to Sony Mobile (Canada), how much will they charge?
I've posted numerous posts with zero replies. Anyways, thanks.

Nova Rom doesn't really exist anymore. Instead there is a compile of CM10 and a Nova Tweaks pack that you can download and flash from http://goo.im/devs/hei1125

[Q] help flashing new rom!! CM7?

I got a tmobile g2 off craigslist today and its already rooted with s-off. i want to flash cyanogenmod 7 have no idea how to go about it because my phone is already has a htc sence rom. can anyone help me out plz??? im asking questions cuz i dont wanna brick my phone like an idiot.
does the phone have clockwork revocery? if not download rom manager from the market and click flash recovery. if you have a rom installed you most likely have the recovery. still flash recovery to get the latest version which is required by cyanogenmod. download the rom you want with the gapps and put it on your sd card. boot into recovery and pick " wipe data/factory reset' after that choose "wipe cache partition". then "install zip from sd card" followed by "choose zip from sd card". then look around for the cyanogenmod and click on it. after it's flashed go to the gapps the same way you found the rom and flash them. reboot and you'll have your new rom.
any questions don't bother to ask.
ok thanks ill try it
anything you don't understand ask cuz we don't want anything to go wrong.
ok so i flashed a new rom and all went well. now when i try connecting to wifi (no dataplan) i cant for some reason. wifi starts but doesnt find my router. i try scanning and wifi turns off. i think its the new rom.. wifi worked fine before. what should i do??????? maybe find another rom??
btw i flashed android 2.3.1 gingervillain 1.4
Please just go read read read the guides and stickies. You'll be glad you did later when you dont have to keep asking questions to simple answers. And you'll be able to troubleshoot for yourself.
Things to think about:
1) Use ROM manager to make backups before you change anything significant
2) When switching roms, do a full data/cache/dalvik cache wipe before flashing
3) Don't do anything that you're not sure on. Research before you brick your phone.

Do a reboot (Usually these 2.3 builds require a reboot to fix WiFi). Did you wipe data and cache before flashing? You can also try a fix permissions.

[Q] [I8150] Memory corruption?

Hi all,
Have anyone experienced memory corruption before? (I think that is what is it, or maybe it is mount point failure?)
The symptoms:
1) Every processes in the background force-close: Google Framework services, Titanium Backup etc.
2) Launching a program that saves anything will force-close.
3) Launching a program will ask you to reconfigure its settings again.
The fix is to reboot the phone, and everything will be working again.
I am running the latest custom ROM from cowithgun (w/o OC).
What kind of system log file I can view to see what actually happens?
Any help/clue is appreciated. Thanks.
before thinking your phone is broke I would suggest, take the latest stock Rom ,do a full wipe (also Dalvick cache) flash it and see if your problem is gone.
good luck
AdliHebat, do you have any info for us? Did you solve it? What was the culprit?
No. But i have not yet have a chance to revert stock rom yet. I am living with it right now. Need a reboot every day.

It has now become very irritating to me. I suspected corrupted memory card or something like that. The custom ROM is using swapped sdcard, and I guess my sdcard is not very good.
So I have:
1) Create Titanium backup
2) Copy back files i needed to my PC from my sdcard
3) flash back stock 2.3.6 ROM
4) Format Sdcard, format internal usb
5) Root using update.zip method
6) flash CWM
7) Clear cache, clear data, clear dalvik through CWM
8) Remove unnecessary apps and restore my apps/data from Titanium backup.
Seem stable so far.
If you suspect SD card corruption, you can use Mini-Tool to do surface test, it's free and can be used for loads of useful stuff.......
http://www.partitionwizard.com/free-partition-manager.html
Just some update.
I have tried
1) latest oc-COW ROM with sdcard swap -- problem still there. USB Storage unexpectedly removed.
2) latest oc-COW ROM with sdcard not swapped -- no longer USB Storage unexpectedly removed, but apps will start force close, and in some apps it is telling you database read-only.
3) Go back to stock ROM -- rooted of course. Stable for 2 days.
4) Flash only oc-kernel from latest COW ROM to my stock ROM. Starts to have apps force close after 2 hours.
5) Restore back my nandroid backup of step 4, so supped to be the same like step 4. Hopefully this will last..
So no luck for me on running custom ROM so far. (I did make my own custom ROM without tweaks--remove and add apps and seems stable, but what the point)

And it never restart.
I restart myself after those apps force close.

You use Titanium back up after flashing custom ROM right..
Probably it cause by not complete back up before
If you wanna try,
Just do factory reset after you flashing Custom ROM and install all apps without titanium backup..*homework

No, I full wipe from recovery (I use CWM recovery) and install everything fresh on every flash session nowadays. I don't trust Titanium backup anymore.

[Q] Simple question of a noob ^^

I've changed rom on my italian TIM LGP350 phone about sep/oct of 2012 with this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1610605.
The image that was avalable at that time was the CyanogenMod-7-20120916-NIGHTLY-P350 and after some work to understand how to use it, it go up well and I'm still satisfied with it.
I've recently tried to reconnect (I stop to use my bt earphone) my bt earphone (http://www.cellularline.com/catalog...ari_bluetooth_cellular_line/dualphone_headset)
that with original rom work great, but now the phone dont recognize it.
I've tried with my pc with bluetooth and the earphone work fine with skype and pther programs.
I read in the thread that in the meantime the rom for my phone go on and now there's a better version (ty for the work guys).
Just to evade the huge work that I do first time to use the first rom (as noob to evade problems there're so many things to read and not only in this forums ^^. things dont seems so clear at first read) and the loss of configuration for all apps installed, what's the right things i must do to install the new version? I cant still talk in that thread (restriction of my noob state), so I asked here. ^^
- use rom manager to put "ClockworkMod 6.0.1.4 Recovery" version on the 5.0.2.8 version that i use first time (and that I still have)
- Wipe cache
- Wipe dalvik-cache
- copy then the new rom on SD and then use ClockworkMod on it
If this is the right way, I'll lose some apps configuration again, I'll lose only the cyanogen configuration or I only see the new version (with new stuff) without lose anything? I need to backup something just to be sure, before use new rom version? ^^
thank you for answers
If you are only using CyanogenMod 16/9/2012 and want to update your phone to the lastest version of the same rom, you just need to download ROM, put on SD, Wipe cache & dalvik cache, flash it and enjoy.
If you are using CyanogenMod 16/9/2012 and want to change ROMs, you will need to do the steps that are avaliable on that page of the ROM. And if you are worried about apps, download Titanium Backup and do some Backups just in case =D

With original branded one my phone was so slow, while with this one i gain at least 50% of speed ^^;
Now I like to use my BT earphone so I hope that with updated one version I can at least to connect the BT to answer call ^^
You should too follow the news on the topic so you can be update with the development of CyanogenMod 7.

Just update Clockwork and Rom. All go right and I dont have a problem.
Unfortunately seems that my phone still dont recognize my BT earphone... lol
I'll need to wait if someone will find a way to make it work ^^
ty for help, this was my first update of recovery and rom so I was still worried to what to do. ^^
Back in the day of early development of custom ROM for the device, it was pointed out that either BT device recognition work or the offline charging, but due to some unknown reason these two don't work at the same time...
What you can do, as I did months ago, use stock ROM, flash custom kernel, overclock...
Why now I'm using custom ROM? Because I sold my BT earpiece...

[Guide]Fix your ROM issues that other's are not having before posting for support.

Ok I wrote this for the OP of my ROM because the issues some people were PMing me about were just plain out dumb, This phone has been out quite a long time and still almost every thread I goto, you got people flashing in way's I didn't even know were possible and posting weird issues that were not being reproduced by the community. so I'm just gonna post this guide for all the developers sake and in hopes the people that actually need this information, receive it before posting and clogging up development threads
If you're having issues on rom's that no one else is reporting, or the DEV has not reproduced on his phone, read the following.
1) Full wipe
2) Do not restore System data or data from CWM
3) Do not dirty flash from other ROM's
4) When was the last time you did a odin to stock? this is important in my opinion and I'm not saying you need to do one but I just want to explain that custom zip's that I make and other dev's make in the shape of "roms" only affect
a few partitions on your device, other's do not get touched and can get messy/corrupt over the months (This explains why the GPS icon disappears in some peoples cases during rom switch) and this is why I get posts in this thread about people wondering why their baseband hasn't been updated after flashing my rom when my post states "MF1"
With this being said my personal rule of thumb is to odin to stock latest and then boot into stock recovery and factory reset, wipe cache/dalvik (BACKUP YOUR SD CARD TO YOUR COMPUTER), this gives your phone fresh partitions everywhere, a fresh system to root and the latest bootloader (which you need for any AOSP 4.2 rom). This is also a good time to unlock your phone if you have not already, then reroot and install custom recovery, update the recovery if need be and flash again on a brand new system. here are my steps
1) backup all user apps and data with titanium backup, DO NOT BACKUP SYSTEM APP'S
2) backup internal storage onto PC
3) Odin to stock latest
4) wait for phone to boot then reboot into stock recovery and full wipe and clear all cache
5) reboot and root the phone and custom recovery
6) flash away and put what you need on your internal storage back onto your phone via usb, see my 2nd set of instructions below
this fixes more issues then you will realize. some of the way people flash rom's on XDA and complain to me with problems is rather funny considering I have the install instructions in the OP, not to mention many of you rooted your phone when you first got it in the ICS 4.0.4 day's and haven't done an odin to stock jellybean to update all your partitions including your bootloader, now I will go over my every day flashing step's.
1)backup all USER APPS/DATA with titanium backup, DO NOT BACKUP SYSTEM APP'S (skip this if you did a odin flash to stock)
2)reboot recovery
3)nandroid (skip this if you did a odin flash to stock)
4)factory reset, wipe system, wipe both cache/dalvik
5)install rom
6)boot system
7)*(OPTIONAL) reboot to install a kernel now if needed, always wipe cache/dalvik and fix permissions after installing a kernel
8)setup phone and download titanium backup from the market
9)restore all user apps and data (you will have to put the titanium backup folder that is backed up on your computer back onto your internal storage via usb first)
Every 6 months, backup internal storage to PC and I odin to stock, much like formatting a computer
6 months is actually a long time considering how much I flash, but this device can take a beating let me tell you =P
I DO THIS WITH EVERY ROM I INSTALL, AOSP or TW
Great info, that is actually my same process when I have an issue with anything
Good read. A lot of common sense for seasoned flashers, will be great for people who are unsure.

s3 unrooting issues
I have been having some big problems with unrooting my telus SGH I747 Galaxy s3. I have flashed the stock rom using odin, did a factory reset and wiped cache and everytime i reboot it loads up the same roms i had on there at first. I have had a lot of issues with roms as well such as slow messaging times, echoing voice calls using AOKP and when i use an AOSP rom i cant connect to my phone carriers data connection at all. I read this form and decided its probably a good idea to re root as you said due to updates or whatever else but now im runing into this issue. I have ask on other forms and no one seemed to have heard of this issue. If anyone has any ideas or knows a fix i would really appreciate the help.

So scrap the unrooting issue i have that figured out now, i just reinstalled the rom and again it doesnt have data, it is the deadly venom rom, anyone else that i know who is using this rom has absolutely no problem. I have tried a few fixes i have found via youtube, google, etc.... but none were successful. If anyone knows a fix or has any ideas please let me know.
I have an I747M S3 from a friend and trying to get it back to stable stock. It had lost it's IMEI and some NVdata corruption but I was able to resolve that searching the forums, But it has issues with apps crashing and rebooting quiet frequently. It can sometimes go feeling pretty stable ofr awhile then just kind of blows up. I have cleared away the flash counter and restored factory stock images from Odin and Keis, still having the issues. Is there a partion or something that could be getting missed? Or possible further problems related to the NVdata issues?
if you have any ideas I would appreciate it.
I used twrp to back up system, data, and boot, should I still use titanium back up to back up anything else, or is that enough to be relatively safe?

Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini Brick

Hello,
I need help.
I rooted my samsung galaxy s4 mini, and all was well, until I used some theme chooser app, which took forever to load a theme, so I took the battery out, and now it wont load past the samsung logo.
Phone details:
Has cwm.
Australian Telstra version of the phone.
Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini LTE GT-I9195T
I know I could simply redownload firmware and re-flash. But the firmware is over 1gb, and on very mimimal data this isnt a option.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Try clearing data and cache. If that don't work, the only option is flashing a new one...

Why bother paying when u can fix it yourself. As suggested by users above try cache and dalvik wipe first. Then if it does not fix, wipe data.
You need to be in recovery first. Press and hold power + home + vol up keys till phone vibrates. In recovery choose the wipes mentioned above. Keep in mind that data wipe or factory reset all apps u installed , contacts , messages and google account if u have one. Good luck.

Ive done that so many times. Never ever works.
I decided Id bite the bullet and just download the stock rom and reflash. IT FAILS EVERYTIME.
IM willing to pay anyone who can provide me a direct link to the rom I require, meanng know capthcas have to be filled out etc.
What version were you using? 4.2.2 or 4.4.2?
@iJoshAU
if you have nandroid backup you can restore it. If not, downloading entire stock rom is the only option. Go to sammobile.com and use the firmware section to get stock roms for I9195T.
Again repeating :: since data wipe did not work for u , restoring nandroid/ CWM backup is one option and flashing stock rom is another. good luck.
NOTE :: If u are already on kitkat bootloader you CANNOT downgrade/flash jellybean stock rom. you can flash only kitkat stock rom.
