Please close had a counterfeit controller - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

I have used many different ROM's and I cant for the life of me get this software to work on my t-999, I just got a new controller today.
Its acting like its not even paired with my phone but I am sure it is since I plug the controller via usb into my phone and manually set it there, and it seems like its taking it (it gives me the option to push it to the controller)
so my question is:
What ROM do I need to run to make this work for me? thanks

Sixaxis and GS2

So i recently bought a ps3 sixaxis controller from amazon ( apparently not sony oem, but it cost me like 40 bucks) and ive been trying to make it work with my GS2 for the past week with no luck... Ive downloaded the sixaxis program for my phone and the pairing tool for my PC .. Ive already made sure that the Bluetooth address matches the one from my phone with the pairing tool, and so then i start the sixaxis program on my phone, I click start (and power on my controller, all the lights are flashing) it says its trying to start the first connection but bluetooth connection failed .. so its attempting a second connection, and finally it says client connected :1, my controller though is still flashing all the lights and then it eventually stops and my screen reads client disconnected . What am i doing wrong ? ive tried the deodexed rom and seamster rom , nothing seems to pair it up, anyone else have this problem? Ive checked other posts but it seems to either be working or not working for some people .
Maybe it doesn't work because it's not sony oem?

A real one is only $40.
Yup, should of got a real one.. That works but i bet you bought those generic ones with extra buttons and turbo mode?? Those are dumb controllers..

no i bought one that looks exactly like the sixaxis, it even says sony and ps3 sixaxis on the box
im just gonna return it anyways and get a real one

Six axis controller help.

Argh so I'm following these guides to the letter and I still can't get this to work.
I've got everything installed correctly , I change the Master address for the controller on my PC, everything goes fine up until I unplug the controller from the PC and hit the Power button on the controller for it to pair with my phone. all 4 lights just flash on the controller and eventually go off and do nothing. Now while that happens, the phone says "Client connected:1" like its suppose to. But the controller is not connected and will not do anything at all.
I than plug it back into the computer and it seems whenever I unplug it, the master change doesn't save and it goes back to its default BT address.
I'm assuming the problem is because the master won't stick OR that's just because the controller isn't connecting to the device so it resets itself to its last known use? Thing is, the controller is brand new and has never been used on a PS3 since I don't own one.
Anyone have any insight on this? Spent $35 for the controller and another $2 for the app and can't use it at the moment :/
NOTE: My phone is the sprint GSIII despite what my sig says due to build.prop changes
EDIT: the compatibility checker indicated its compatible.
Do I need a USB OTG cord to connect it for the controllers first time being synced to a device maybe? Don't have a ps3 to connect it to unfortunately.
little bump, i have no useful information other than i read there was a way to pair the 2 using only the phone, not sure where i saw it tho, maybe on a youtube video on setting up sixaxis?
Im very interested to see if this works, as i want very badly to play n64 and other games on my projector with the mhl adapter, instead of having to use the usb for the controller, i would try it but don't own a sixaxis controller atm.
I did it with the otg cable with out a pc took me a minute to get but it worked. so I unplugged it. It is now wireless so I tried to Play dead trigger and a couple of other games and the controls wouldn't work right I was able to control the phone from the ps3 controller but no games and with the controller plugged in via otg cable games worked great

I have the AT&T version but I am sure they both work the same way.
Make sure you grab the correct bluetooth address from your phone, says it at the bottom of the phone in the app.
Then download the drivers and sixaxis pair tool application on the PC, make sure they are installed! Grab your PS3 dualshock controller and connect it to your PC. It should go through installing the drivers/making sure you have them installed, once its complete your current controllers master will be shown at the top. You need to change it so that it reads the same as your mobile phones address.
Once that is complete go back to your phone, open up the program and start the driver, now hold the ps button until you see it sync, if it isn't syncing then you have a problem with the address of either your phone or controller.
Or...
You can actually make a cheap OTG cable yourself with stuff you probably have laying around the house. All you need is an USB extender cable and a micro USB cable, along with some wire and a soldering kit.

When I used the app with my nexus s I had to use the computer tool, now with the galaxy all I had to do was plug it in with an otg cable, pair, and make sure you change the input method. Now I just start the app, press start on the app turn the controller on and it pairs instantly.

Yeah I got everything down but for some reason the controller isn't saving the master change. As soon as I unplug it from the PC after changing it, it goes right back to its default master. I continue to press the button on it anyway to pair with my phone and my phone said Client connected: 1 like its suppose to, but the controller lights just keep flashing another 5 seconds and it shuts off.
Assuming the master change isn't working. Tried both the new and old .exe's on the dev's site for the PC pair tool. :/
So if I get an OTG cord, I can do the initial pair with that and than it will pair wirelessly from there on out or I have to always use it with the cord that way?
Thanks guys.

Isn't a valid link
EDIT: got the link to work after all, and god its so easy with a OTG cable... hahah. Guess that's my best bet since this thing keeps being so stubborn about saving the master change when I do it on the PC. -.-

Ironically I tried the to pair the ps3 tool yesterday too. While the compatibility tester says it works yet I can't pair.I changed the Bluetooth address and installed the driver it just doesn't work.

Have you tried using another PC program like MotionJoy? Downloading their drivers to see if you can change the master address with it instead? That would be my next suggestion if you are having issues with the master not sticking, obviously the best option would be to connect it to a PS3 first to make sure you at least have a default master.
If this doesn't work let me now, I'll try to think up some other ways before you have to purchase a cable to make it work.

Yeah I tried motion joy and the controller works great wired to the computer (Works on the PC I mean) but I don't have a Bluetooth adapter for my PC to pair it with unfortunately.
Note that whenever I sync the controller to MotionJoy, I'm unable to use that USB port with SixaxisPairTool because MotionJoy drivers were installed with that port and motionjoy instantly picks it up and makes it unrecognizable to the sixaxistool program (Uninstalling motionjoy solves this) but just thought I'd throw it out there.
I clicked BluetoothPair in motionjoy and the BT address shows different than the one Sixaxistool shows, when I choose Custom Master or whatever it says and type in my phones, it "changes" it on the screen and says it changed, I than unplug it from the PC and start the app on the phone, Press the PS button on the controller and the 4 lights blink, the phone says Client connected:1, but the lights all keep blinking and than shut off. If pressed again the blink than turn off. I than connect it back to the PC and the BT address is shown as the default one from before I choose custom.
Pretty much the Change Master only stays while its connected to the PC, soon as I unplug it the master resets. I verified that by changing it, closing the programs (Both motionjoy and sixaxistool, at separate times of course during their own individual attempts) and than reopen either program and it shows what I changed it to still. But like I said as soon as the cord comes out it resets.
Sorry for the wall of text, just trying to provide as much info as I can. I ordered a cable but that can always come in handy anyway and I'd like to see if we could still solve this without one maybe to save some cash for anyone that has this problem in the future ya know!

I know there was an issue with MotionJoy with having to put the address in "backwards" before it paired, I don't know if that was fixed or if that is still an issue. It's odd that it works fine when you plug it in to the PC but once you try wireless, it resets... I guess it's because you have yet to use the controller AS a bluetooth device, it has always been a wired connection. So you either have to pair it with a ps3, or with another bluetooth device.
Maybe you should just wait on the cable haha

Hahah yeah I pulled enough of my hair out and gave in on the cord thanks for trying though! I agree its probably related to being a new unused controller.

Argh okay got the cord. Controller works fine as a game pad. Works flawlessly on ShadowGun and Dead trigger which both have game pad function built in.
Can not get it to connect via Bluetooth still..
Tried exactly what the video showed and such.
Only thing I can think of is the controller could possibly be dead? Which I doubt because all the trouble shooting I've been doing (Connected to PC for an hour trying to get motion joy to go, connected to my phone the past 15min, I even plugged the USB into my wall adapter for my phone to see if it charged. Lights just blink than go off after like 5minutes. That mean its charged or what? Don't have a ps3, does it need one to charge? :/

Is this an OEM Sony Controller? Chinese fakes aren't going to work. Same thing with Wii remote clones.

I think its OEM? How would I go about checking?
It was this one:
www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0015AARJI/ref=mp_s_a_1?qid=1341986008&sr=8-1
But it wasn't the Amazon seller by default when I got it, it was a seller named Wireovia, they've got 4.8 stars with 3559 ratings so I didn't really think much of them being fakes? Price was $39 though I don't see them in the list of sellers now, but they were default before.
Also the controller didn't come with a cord, is that a sign of a fake or is that the same with Sony's official?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda app-developers app
EDIT: Well crap. I was looking at "How to spot a fake" guides and they mention two definite ways of telling, one being the battery inside is different and another being there is no screw under the sticker on the back on the official, whereas the fakes have a screw under there.
Now mine has what looks to be a screw without a screwable head on it under the sticker. Maybe the new fakes have the head of the screws taken off because they knew it gave it away? Idk. Going to take it apart tomorrow and see the battery.
Anyone know if its possible to return an opened item? Purchased June 29th received it on July 3rd. It came with an amazon lable saying "Returning is easy, go to our website blah blah blah" but mentioned it being unopened. Hmm..
Call Amazon's 800 number and tell them this isn't a genuine controller, and is giving you pairing difficulties. You don't have to say what kind. Ha ha. You should get your money back no problem.
Can others on the Canadian gsiii variants download the Sixaxis app from the market? Play thinks it's not compatible with my device (d2can / rogers).
I remember from before this app had issues working on devices running sense or touchwiz ui and I had problems with it on my stock vibrant and sgs2 but it runs well on aosp based roms.so today I flashes aokp r3 and low and behold it works now! Played
Dead trigger flawlessly earlier.T-Mobile sgs3 btw.

PS3 Controller Questions

Hi
I have a completely stock galaxy note running ICS (no root)
I picked up a PS3 controller yesterday from a boot sale for £8 (Sixaxis Dualshock 3) - i got it on a bit of a whim after vaguely seeing mentions of ps3 controllers working with android mentioned on here.
I have it working using my usb OTG cable.
I have a few questions and was hoping someone could help me
1. Is it possible to use the PS3 controller wirelessly without root? I have seen the sixaxis app and where it says it needs root but have also seen "USB/BT Joystick Center " which claims to not require root but cannot see people with our phone using it anywhere.
2. Is it possible to get an OTG cable that allows you to use devices such as the ps3 controller and charge the phone at the same time?
3. [Off-Topic] Since I dont have a ps3 - is there anyway to tell if the wireless portion of a ps3 controller is working? when the controller is disconnected I don't see any LEDs lit no matter what I press. Any ideas?
Thank you
Lrmulli

1. I never heard about this options. You can buy bluetooth joystick for android\ios and use it without root.
2. No. Also there is no cables for using HDMI+OTG same time.
Why you are afraid of root? You can always unroot and back to stock without problems. You can also reset your flashing counter to zero and stock official samsung (if you need to sold your device or bring it to service center).

Here's what you need:
CM9 ROM - sixaxis support without root
ANY ROM + root + sixaxis app - great support (with profiles, and multiple controllers)
There's no risk or rooting your device if its just root. Just apply it as per the instructions of the developers.
1) I don't know the answer to that.
2) Yes you can. Get a USB-OTG cable. Then plug it into a USB-HUD, it will need to be externally charged via charger. Now your NOTE is getting Data only from the Gamepad, and it isn't wasting power for the connection.
Anonymous is right, you can't have OTG and MHL at the same time.
The best solution for you to is:
root + sixaxis + bluetooth connection + mhl=hdmi If you want BIG SCREEN gameplay.
3) You could have a Chinese clone controller, which might NOT have bluetooth.
Quickest way would be to try pairing it to your PC. If discoverable, then obviously its got the blue teeth, though it could still be chinese knock off.
@anonymous572 & @Kangal Thanks for the great replies
@anonymous572 I'm not so afraid of root - I'm more afraid of bricking - I have rooted & flashed every android device I have ever owned apart from my note and the reason is that I am scared of bricking. With the bricking issue seemingly so random I'm scared that if it hit me I would be without warranty. Admittedly though I have done any reading for a while about whether rooting increases the chances of bricking or not. Am I worrying about nothing?
@kangal great tip about the powered usb hub - I'll have a look at whether I have any in the house to try.
I might order an MHL cable for some big screen action aswell - especially as XBMC is now working on our devices.
I'm pretty certain my controller is not a clone - the person selling it at the boot sale was selling it with the console and I managed to persuade him to sell it me separately.
root + sixaxis + bluetooth connection + mhl=hdmi If you want BIG SCREEN gameplay. >> This solution sounds great - I've just got to convince myself to root and spend the money on the sixaxis app
Thank You

Trouble connecting Dualshock 3 via OTG (rooted phone, Android 5.0)

For the past 3 days I've been struggling to set up my PS3 contoller to work on my HTC One M8. First, I tried USB/BT Joystick Center and got the D-Pad to work, but couldn't really figure out the proper button configs so that games could detect them. Most of the other controller apps require root; therefore, I went ahead and did that. Then, I installed Sixaxis Compatibility Checker and it told me that my phone was compatible with the main app so I went ahead and bought it. Well, lo and behold it doesn't work. It seems that unless I override the MAC address of my controller, it won't let me pair up via OTG, Bluetooth-only seems to be the only way. Unfortunately, I can't do this because the drivers that I need to install to do this render my controller unusable with my PC games for some reason. I missed the refund window so I gotta make this work somehow.
You don't need OTG to link ps3 to phone. I've used the app many times on both my tablet and phone. I even use my ps3 on my laptop to play android games through emulation. I'll have to get with you later. Its 4am here, so give me time

Solved: Joying - Mirrorlink Stopped Working After Flash

Hey guys, I have searched high and low for a solution to this problem but have come up empty so far. I just got a joying head unit and everything, including the easy connected app, seemed to work without issue. I decided well since I had the headunit running next to my pc that I would flash Malaysk's custom rom before installing it. After that, I reinstalled the app from various sources including the oem app but none of them seem to allow me to connect my same exact devices anymore.
Why is this important for me? I had planned on controlling a tablet in the back seat for my son who is still to young to put on show without trouble. Essentially, this would allow me to never have to reach back there to help him out.
I have read, from joying, that it would no longer work after flashing new firmware but that seemed to not be the case from some things I had read here (please correct me if I am wrong on that). Tried different cables and ports but no luck. I did read that a license might need to be carried over but not sure what that entails as I can find ZERO info on this easy connected app/problem. I hope that this is a very simple fix and that I did not jump the gun again for the chance to flash a new device (its addicting and I blame XDA for my problems...).
I did try and find some other apps that might allow me to do the same thing. RemoDroid seemed promising but didn't function. Most other ones are meant for controlling from a pc or browser and just weren't useful for the task at hand. I am open to solid suggestions. I use all Android devices and avoid the Apple juice. Any insight you guys can offer will help a tired Dad out. Thanks!
Edit: Solved-ish
The easy connect app seems to function now intermittently. Not sure there was a specific thing that I did to fix it. Seems to work when I launch easy connect app right after booting up and nothing else. Messing with other apps seems to cause a problem for my devices. Also, switching between my devices(phone and tablet) may also have been causing a problem, not sure yet. I suppose I'll just keep trying to make it work reliably until I break it again.
On the previous version of the easy connect app, you were able to disable Drive Mode from launching. Not so on the newer version with Android WiFi. If anyone has a solution to that I would appreciate it as the Drive Mode app is useless for my needs.
Note 4 - USB - works great. I have yet to try over wifi
Note 10.1 N8013(lollipop rom) - USB/Wifi - works great (disable smooth mode, remote device screen cannot be turned on with easy connect "Home" button)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/and...1024x600-rk3188-joying-try-uploading-t3262030
I tried several different apk's but they all have similar results and end with a connection failure.
I haven't yet tried going back to stock firmware so that might be worth trying. I installed the headunit in my car so I'm not as willing to keep flashin it as I have to park down the street from my house.
So not sure what magic I used but I was able to get it working for a moment and then it stopped again. USB and Wifi android mirroring were working so I know my current firmware/setup is functional!! Once I got it working I started configuring some other apps and when I went to run it again it wasn't connecting. I guess I'll just keep messing with it until I can figure out what got it working again.
With the newer version of the easy connected app, I can no longer disable launching of drive mode on connect. Is there a way to disable that option with the 1.4 version?
Hi.
Is it possible mirror in wifi with android?
Can you explain the way?
