[Q]MildWild MW-3 supported kernels - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can anybody provide list of supported kernels for MildWild MW-3?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2031467

Besides the stock one, these are modded Redux 2 kernels.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1268198

Also if in MW-3 thread, go back a few post and theres a link for a modded Thalamus kernel with SmartassV2.
Sent from my HTC Desire

already read post about thalamus mod8 kernel and install it
after install have problem with Legend of the Cryptids game.
time-to-time at start battle game screen show images and status bar show phone changes, but all screen and keys dont react on my touches. wait some time and phone self rebooted
reinstall mw-3 with original kernel and all in phone work fine

Original kernel is usually the best for the rom. If it wasn't, it wouldn't be there

[Q] Kernels for HTC EVO

I'm new to kernel flashing. I have been playing around with snap and kings kernel. I don't have a problem flashing snap, but once I have it installed it works fine for awhile, but then it reboots itself or goes into a state where it won't turn on and I have to pull the battery. I tried 7.6 both bfs and cfs and the same thing happens. I also tried 7.5 but once I flashed it nothing showed up in the apps to install.
For kings kernel I flashed it and it booted up fine but it seemed to freeze up and I couldn't unlock my phone after the boot.
Am I doing something wrong when I am flashing these? I am running the nightlies of cyanogen. Also, What are some other kernels that work well with cm?
Thanks!!!
Kernals seem to be a taste for the phone itself and not the rom...
My Evo doesnt seem to like any other kernals than stock I have tried many rom/kernal combos and the only way i get no issues and best battery is to run stock kernal
I ran fresh with netarchy and kings like some others-that had great battery and mine just drained fast so I am done with the kernal swapping for now and jut keep playing with roms.... Trying out Virusrom right now not bad so far
Try wiping the cache and dalvik cache before flashing the new kernels. That might help.
Another thing that might help is posting this in the right section. More people with the knowledge and good insight that you need will be more apt to answer you in the Q&A section.
I've tried clearing everything including data but it still would self reboot
the snap kernels do not work with the recent versions (nightlies) of CM.
The framework has been redone, and you will freeze.
You have to use the stock kernel.
Ziggy just made an AOSP kernel, but its buggy.
Toast has a .35 kernel that works good on the new frame work.
I just was able to use a different kernel of kings. It really doesn't enhance quadrant scores, but im want to see what it does to the battery. Where can I download toast.
Also, I noticed that now my unlock screen is different from my wall paper. Is that a kernel issue?
Check to make sure SetCPU is disabled (or any other overclocking utility), and wipe your cache/dalvik. If all else fails, go with the Snap 7.6 failsafe method.
Kings AOSP #1 has worked best for me using cm nightlies. I have easily doubled my battery life. Has anybody else had success with any other kernels? Is toast an AOSP kernel?
as TheJoker and drmacinyasha commented...
snap and king use the .32 kernel. snap http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=733099
cm6 nightly is currently using .34 kernel
Toast has a .35 test1 kernel available for CM6 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=735596)
ziggy has a kernel as well. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=819402)
zendroid has a kernel - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=831021
turn off setcpu until after you reboot with the new kernel. don't forget to read the kernel threads OP for possible hints on setcpu configs (ie: snap7.6 works well with conservative governor)
yes they are all AOSP.
i would not advise a newbie to play with the snap or king kernels until the .35 revisions have been released. this is due to changes in the Framework.apk file. you are likely to find that a current CM6nightly w/ the snap7.6 kernel = no bluetooth. new kernels should be hitting shelves very soon. personally, i'm looking forward to loading up the snap kernel once its done cooking, i really liked that kernel.
most are just fine with the stock kernel
many have commented positively on the toast test1 kernel (aside from a hang issue at startup)
ziggy & zen have a bit of work to do on their kernels it seems.
once .35 is 'done' you'll find a bunch of movement on the the kernel threads.

Thanks! this really helped. This may be a dumb question, but where do you find out what kernel runs with the ROMS. eg .35
I really want to find a good combination that gives me good battery life and performance. so will snap 7.6 work with cm 6.1 rc 1 rom?
I saw for CM6.1 the stock kernel is the best. I have gotten the best performance, battery life, and bug free with the stock kernel.
Snap 7.6 would get stuck on the splash screen and required several battery pulls.
Toast .35 works good, but after about an hour or two for some reason it brings my fps cap down to 37, so all my scrolling and games run like ****.
Wait for Snap 9 or the official toast .35 kernel. Stock is just fine.
I was bored last night and tried cm 6.1 with snap 7.6 just for fun, but it seems to be working fine. The boot was quick too, it was on the cyanogen boot image for about 3 seconds before it started up. Quadrant scores are in the mid 2000s. No problems with anything else so far.
Is there a snap website or channel log? I can only fined directories.

[Q] kernels

hi, i'm about to flash leedroid v 2 on my desire hd, but i was wondering what the kernels in his site for? do i really need to flash them? and how?
This is what a Kernel does:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kernel_(computing)
Or, a short explanation: It's the interface between your Hard- and Software.
The faster and the more optimized it is, the faster, smoother and energy efficient your DHD runs.
If you're on Leedroids ROM you already have one of the best Kernels around.
In this case it only makes sense to flash another Kernel if you want to overclock your device. (And no, I won't describe overclocking, too. If you've clicked the link above, you're already on wikipedia to look that up, too ;-) ).
i think leedroids rom includes his latest kernel anyway, the flashable one is for people not using his roms
Every ROM comes with a kernel. Leedroid 2.0 came with a kernel. Then later Lee added some modifications to his kernel and a new kernel 2.0.1 was made available and so forth until 2.0.4. Since changes were somewhat minor he did not introduce a new ROM version. But this means different people may be using the same LeeDroid ROM each with different kernels and different experiences. For example the latest recommended kernel seems to be 2.0.3 as 2.0.4 has more battery drain.

[Q] After flashing with kernel i got a problem.

I have flash ROM Android Revolution HD 4.0_beta4 & after first complete start i have flash with Buzz_Sense_1.3.8.2_OC+.
With the same method of flashing a rom but after flashing kernel my phone performance speed decreases & the four keys at bottom stop working, after setting setcpu to 1612MHz the problem remains same.
Plz help.
There are no custom kernels for GB sense quite yet (source not yet released); reflash the ROM so you get the original kernel back, and check with the chefs before flashing kernels and other flashables that aren't supported.

Nikez Lente & Kernel

Hello all,
First of all, sorry for posting in the wrong forum, but I cannot post in the development one, so forgive me.
I have a question for all of you:
I have installed on my HTC Desire the Nikez Lente Evervol JB ROM, which is great.
I really like it, even if there are few bugs and random FC.
I've used CM7.2 for a long time before to switch to JB.
I don't miss CM (sorry for that), but I really miss Tiamat Kernel I installed within it, which helped me overclock and underclock my processor, changing also the voltage.
With Nikez Lente JB original kernel this is not possible, I tried to install Tiamat Kernel for ICS but the phone cannot boot anymore, I'm stuck to initial black screen.
So I went back to the original Nikez Kernel.
Unfortunately this kernel seems do not allow "extreme" overclock as Tiamat does, and do not allow the user to change the voltage table.
I would really like to have these features back on my JB installation, is it possible?
Is there a kernel which can work with Nikez JB ROM and can give me back the features I'd like to have?
Moreover: can you explain why the Tiamat ICS kernel (for Bravo GSM) does not work with both Nikez Lente ROMs (ICS & JB)? Am I making something wrong?
My phone is a PVT-1 Amoled, S-OFFed qith Revolutionary, the HBOOT is the Alpharev Stock one, The recovery is CWM 5.0.2.0, I have a 32Gb SD card with 1 Gb ext3 sd-ext partition.
What else can I say?
Thank you very much in advance.
Regards,
Giovanni
Yes it is possible.
But probably you have to wait.
Evervolv team (nikez included) are working on jb and probably when all features will be working they add some mod in kernel that will let you OC CPU.

Did you check/compare the kernel configs? One of the CM wiki pages about building the kernel describes howto access the config - or check the git repos, evervolv has the file somewhere in arch/asm, it is called bravodefconfig IIRC
Maybe a device or filesystem driver is missing

Almost, it's located in arch/arm/configs/evervolv_bravodefconfig

[Q] So I rooted my phone, now what?

Hello again guys,
I sucessfully rooted my phone but now I have a problem. I have read through alot of forums and sites and I guess the next logical step is to get a new rom and kernel. Now I have done alot of reading about all this but I'm getting quite confused between the pair. From my understanding the kernel controls all the complex stuff like making your phone run faster/slower and increasing/decreasing battery life.... I'm stumped at what a rom is,it's like, the operating system but custom ones are more streamlined?
So what I'm asking for is a little information and some suggestions of what I should put onto my phone, I read something about a smartassv2 which is supposed to keep the phone more balanced, now im sure if it is a kernel or a governor?
Any help would be apprciated.
Have you put cwm or different recovery on your phone yet. Also do you have the CDMA or gsm version

Yeah, the utility I used to root it also installed cwm, I checked it out and did a backup which should be on my SD card now.
beleive it's gsm, it has a sim card and is on T-mobile.
Ive just installed link2sd and partitioned my sd card, was able to move over a game that I couldnt originally get over to the sd card, saving a bit of space.
Also with link2sd I was able to delete preinstalled bloat like twitter, friendstream, news, weather, stocks, etc.
So far a good day

smartassv2 is governer you can use cfq scheduler with it.
about suggestions:
after rooting you have two options:
use cyanogenmod roms:
cm9.1/cm10
(original modpunk cm9.1 ,speed droid,jelly king,miui etc)
use stock sense roms:
(wildchild etc,sense 3.5 etc)
these all are main roms after there are many variations like pacman rom, aokp build cm9 but they are not much stable at this time so.

Sorry to be a pain can you give me a little info about the listed roms? You put cm9.1/cm10 then the others in brackets, are they just like the same roms but with slight differences or is cynaogenmod a kinda name for those type of roms?
EDIT: Just looked up CyanogenMod.org, doesnt show that it supports HTC Wildfire S.

official cyanogenmod isn't support wildfire s.so dev made here unofficial cynogenmod which support cm9.1 and cm10 with some bugs.
that is jelly king cm10 based :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2075272
that is speed droid cm9.1 and cm10 based:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1867712
this is original modpunk cm9.1 rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1633198
note:
cm=cyanogenmod
cm9.1 aka ICS 4.0.4
cm10 aka JB 4.1.2
ps there are many other roms based on cm10 like pacman, miui and also slimroms ,paranoid(its tablet ui rom you can change dpi of any app widget its benefit of this rom)
but i havent tried them but you can.
Personal oppinion
When I rooted my wildfire s I was exactly like you. I started wondering what I should do or where I could find it.
After testing a few roms I will tell you what worked for me: Test different roms till you find the one that suits you.
Anyway, I'll tell you my advice:
- WildJOY joyOS First rom I tested. No bugs found.
- Modpunk's CM10 As far as I've read the rom every one uses as the base for their own ones.
- JellyKing This is the one I'm using right now. Active development and really smooth.
Jelly King V2.0
I flashed my phone with Jelly King V2.0 4 days back. Its working very smoothly.
You get 69 MB of internal space to install things.
Panorma mode in camera etc. Try it. you'll love it.
one Q: shall i flash the Kernel v2.1 with jelly king v2.o!! everything seems working fine without the kernal

I have that rom without that kernel and the only bug I've found for the moment is the 3G connection one. However Kantry123 is working hard on it.

I was v.happy with v1.3 dedoxed i had no problem with it till yesterday started to have problem with viber ''NO SOUND'' , skype signing out when i try to make a skype phone call.. i tried to many things re-flashing the Room without wiping data factory sittings No backup lool so today i flashed the V2.0 with full wipe but its kinda lagy!! not smooth like the older one !! Kantry 123 made amazing job i really appreciate his hard work :good:
I don't find it that laggy as you say. Maybe it's because i don't spect too much from my little device. If i were you i'd try the kernel to test if it goes smoother or not.
