I just went and purchased a GNex for myself and passed my Inc2 onto my wife for the time being, (until she decides what she wants then im gonna sell it).

I hope your gnex will be a better experience than my customers. Already had around 6 returned due to crappy sound quality and random freezes. I am sure a lovely non stock rom will fix the issues.

I've heard nothing but great things about the custom ROMs. Especially AOKP.

Now did you pay full price for a g nexus? Did you have an upgrade? I always wonder how people change their phones so frequently. Is there a secret to getting a new phone with out having to pay 500+ for one??

Wirefly. Lol if you're upgrading you can get the gnex for like $99.

i have a corporate acct so i get a boat load of discounts and upgrades are enabled every 6 months. i haven't paid more than $199 for a device since my Omnia back in 2009.
so far no issues AT ALL.
already rooted and flashed AOKP and its smooth as butter.
this 4G **** is on another level let me tell you that much..i havent turned on my wifi yet because the 4G is that fast!

So I take it you have unlimited? Lucky dog. I wanna mess with a gnex with AOKP

I saw you posted 99 on wirefly, so I had to check it out...my incredible has been having mic problems, and often texts wont receive. I want a nexus so bad, but I don't want to pay more than 100. It says its 229 for an upgrade on wirefly though.

Finally got my Note II

Hot Dog....finally got my Note II. I've been waiting for Sprint to get a Note variant since they orginal Note first launched in Europe.
Came close to switching carriers a few times becuase Sprint never seemed to want to catch-up.
I'm glad I waited though.
The Note II is awesome.

I've been a bad boy, I know I shouldn't but the temptation is killing me. My Evo LTE will get push to the kid (hope I don't regret the switch). Now on to root and all.

Well, how's the difference? LOL....I too have the Epic 4g and have to wait until tomorrow to go to the Sprint store.
I am REALLY getting tired of the daily lockups/reboots.

Picked up mine a couple of hours ago. Loving it so far!

This is my first full touch screen so it's really different as I could text without looking before. All I need is a hotspot workaround and this phone will be awesome! It makes the epic feel like an old Palm.

I have to wait until 12/1 for mine :crying:

Yea me too but they just opened this forum. Ive been lurking in the international one. So maybe this will pick up. Plus from what I can tell, the launch seemed very limited. Anyway, I have never seen a nicer phone outta the box. Put root on this sucker and ill be a happy camper!

Wife and I got the only 2 white ones the store had... felt stupid being the only 2 there at 8 but it paid off when the next guy to come said they only would have 4 phones, 2 white and 2 gray. 4 people walked in and got sent away to look at other stores.

yeah all the stores i called said people bought them out when they opened the doors..then the store that had on left said that people were buying 3 and 4 of them at a time...didnt think this phone would be that popular..ive had the og evo, galaxy , galaxy s2 and about 4 or 5 other android devices as ive bounced around from carrier to carrier, and NEVER had a problem finding a store that had the phone i wanted until today.

First store I went to their lock broke on the cabinet holding the phones. They couldn't get into it to sell them. Drove another 10 minutes and got a grey one at another sprint store. Really liking it so far

Good. Apple blows. Android has been outselling ios 3-1 for a while. Thats why apple sues everyone. The release of the sgs2 was a game changer and since android has taken over. Hell the sgs2 still out sells iphone 5. I hate apple with a passion.

Well you kinda can't blame them if they had really old laggy androids. My girlfriend had an lg Optimus s which was one of those phones and hated it so much she got the 4s. Makes me cringe saying that but the new Android phones out now are simply incredible. People don't know what they're missing. Once a sheep always a sheep I guess lol.

Yeah but if you're in my boat financially lol, once you upgrade you're STUCK with it for two years! So I don't really want last year's model when I could just wait a couple more months. This phone kicks ass anyway lol!

I've already upgraded from my et4g twice since nov. First went to the s3 now the note 2. Definitely wasnt disappointed with either. I actually just sold my s3 for $100 cuz I busted the screen. So the buyer got a month old s3 for $100 + $130 for new screen = $230 they got a sweet deal they're a member here too that I know outside of xda and they were upgrading from the et4g maybe they'll stop by and chime in on the difference and if they are happy or not with the s3. The s4 is still 6 months or so out. Its estimated date to go on sale for the international version is sometime in June and US 1-2 months later so youre looking at july or august b4 US carriers will have em

I've been hearing on different tech site's the s4 might come out as early as April. Either way I'm very happy with this device at the moment anyway so I can wait. This phone should be really nice once we get source I'm thinking.
Edit: I'm also coming to this device a couple months ago from the 3d so probably why I'm content with this for now.

Yeah I usually switch devices every 6 months or so cuz my dad likes to buy the newest one that comes out and give me his old one. I'm actually sitting on 2 upgrades now cuz of him giving me the et4g and s3 I used one of my upgrades on the note 2 tho cuz I wanted it when he dumped the s3 on me and I didnt have am upgrade available yet. They all came up dec 1 jan 2 and jan 15 lol used dec 1 on note the same day it was available after I sold some sucker from Craigslist my et4g with all the accessories for $300

Exactly it frustrates me. Every one goes for the free phone. I spent over $200 for my s2 on launch day with a smile! What I'm saying is that if more people went for flagship android devices it would change their mind

Yes sir. I'm loving the s3. Good looks on telling me first and holding on till I bought it. I also like to upgrade ever few months. I'm waiting for the s4 to use one of my upgrades.

I upgrade every few months by selling my current phone and finding a sweet deal on a newer used phone. Though I may just switch to the nexus 4. With their pricepoints I may just be able to upgrade for free forever.

Upgrade/Moral Dilemma

I got the unlimited family plan last June and got the Epic for my wife and I. This family plan is now turning into a business plan as I'm getting phones for my guys too.
My issue is that I am a tech junkie and I am starting to feel phone envy with all these guys getting the note 2. I have another person to get a phone for and I'm realizing that instead of waiting another year and six months to upgrade I can do it now and pass on this epic.
The problem is that I love this community, and would like to start putting out some roms for a group that I think is going to be hurting for devs shortly. While I'm pretty sure the note 2 is not lacking in this area.
Am I worrying about nothing? Is everyone leaving this phone soon anyway? If I don't use this opportunity am I going to be the only one here in a year? :sigh:
I just feel like it's too early to leave now, but will be too late later on.

Reasonable to believe when S4 is released and if the specs live up to its hype, majority of users will consider the move. I am considering and upgrade and may not be on this phone at the end of the year. Only because it will be 2 years and trying to get the family on 1 cycle is the plan. Its an opportunity you should highly consider

That was the original plan, just wait it out, and get the latest and greatest, but my guy needs a phone now, so it's upgrade now or in a year and half. Other option is to use my best buy buy back to help with the cost of an out of contract phone when the s4 comes out.

I think a lot of its are in it till the s4. This is a great community though and I feel your pain. The note has a lot going for it but I have a feeling the s4 is going to knock it out of the park. We always need good devs and would hate to see you go. But do what you have to. I'm sure you'll be happy either way. Although with all these 4.2 rooms coming out and jb ota around the corner at some point soon this phone will be hanging around for quite a while. Good luck with your decision.

I love this phone but if I had LTE I would upgrade now. I also think S4 will be my next phone since it should drop around the time the Network Vision upgrades start here. Bottom line do whatever makes you happy. The community will carry on and more devs will jump onboard since our phone is cheap now.

Damn wish I was here earlier to see the whole arguments lol. To the OP do what you want bro do what would make you happy I'm also a tech junkie love every new device that comes out. I have a note 2 and I love it I came from the e4gt and had used my upgrade to get the note now if the S4 really calls out my attention which I'm sure it will I will sell the note and put in the differences and pay full price now if you think you can do that do it If you're a tech junkie a don't see the problem of hesitating on doing something wrong for yourself just do what you want bro.

Note 2 is down to $169 on Amazon Wireless right now! I can upgrade now but I got this device as a replacement for my 3vo and haven't had it that long. I really want to see what it's going to be like after the jb update. If for some reason we end up not getting it then I'll upgrade but really don't see the need to just yet.

The main reason I'm going to stick with this phone is because wimax. Sprint doesn't yet have lte in my area and if I upgrade I will be stuck with slow ass 3g. So unless lte gets up and running soon I'm just going to stick with the Epic 4G Touch and with this site it keeps me from getting bored

Get a Note II, join devs like myself as we can sure deliver excellent works to the users

Geez Garwynn wish I thought of that lol! Not sure if it would've worked though. I'm still happy with my Note for $199. Wasn't sure if I should do it or not before but this thing is absolutely amazing! I thought the e4gt was a beast but my God lol! What a difference. You guys that are thinking about it just do it. You won't regret it. And if you're thinking you might want to wait for the gs4 I was right there with you but in all honesty I don't see how they will compare. This has tablet like features that the gs4 might not have. Of course we really won't know until the final spec sheet is released but either way it won't be this size. And it is beautiful guys!

Oh I did. Amazon had the note 2 for $170 when added to a family plan. I couldn't resist. It was worth the he'll I for from the missus.
What's great is all the wonderful people from this forum (like garwynn) that are over there now.
And there is nothing out like this phone now. Nor will the s4 match it. I don't think I'll ever be able to use a smaller phone with no spen again.

I'm an indirect dealer for Sprint, ATT and Verizon; I get to play with a lot of phones. You could not be more accurate. Not only is the Note 2 in a class if its own. It really is a "phablet". It doesnt need to be held close to the face, yet can fit in a pocket.
More importantly, the execution of Touchwiz is remarkable- its usefulness is beyond comparison, justifying every pixel of the huge display and proving it is not a gimmick.
As far as the E4GT goes, its second-life as a premium Virgin/Boost handset should prevent development from drying up.

Sup note 2 users, I'm eZ and I'll be grabbing up a note 2 today. I released a couple roms on the infuse and look forward to releasing some awesome roms for the note. I look forward to meeting and hanging with everyone here!

Well apparently dumb att said I can't pick up in store.. Even tho it said I can online. So I'm overnighting it. Will be here tomorrow. And honestly I don't like touch wiz but I will definitely release a touch wiz rom.
Also how was the switch to the note? Is it like crazy dumb awesome compared to the infuse lol

No idea xD If you are getting it from AT&T Chances are it's the SGH-I317. Which is our model. ROMs for our device and Tmo, and even teh N7105 will work on our phone. Something we don't have that I really wanna see? A MIUI Rom that has everything working. D:

The Note 2 original is the n7100 which is an international phone, our phone falls under the n7105 variants (which are all LTE-enabled devices which include N7105T, SGH-I317, SGH-T889, SGH-I317M, etc.) There is a porting guide to use a n7100 rom on our phones by madmack, but the rest of the devices rom work good on our phone.

Hmm kind of confusing. I'll look at my phone tomorrow when it comes in. I need to learn all the kernels and stuff for the note. Infuse only has 1 for jellybean lol

Yeah it can seem confusing at first. If your picking up from AT&T then you'll be getting the sgh-i317, but our last update is much older than more recent ones to the international variants, thus why some developers choose to use those firmwares as a base. Just shoot me a pm if you have any questions

I'm a former Infuse user as well. Getting a Note 2 was like taking a breath of fresh air.
While all the Jelly Bean ROMs brought new life to the Infuse, at the end of the day it was still and underpowered phone, and because of Samsung's unwillingness to support it, several things remained broken on it. I was more than happy to move on from that thing.

Apparently my phone isn't coming until Saturday even tho I paid for overnight shipping. Just another scam from att for extra $$. So pissed

That's a real bummer. I hate shipping times like that. I had to wait 2 weeks with a broken SGS2 (Always Charging Issue) until I finally got my Note 2 in the mail. They shipped it thru regular mail too D:

Wow. I feel a bit better now lol. I was just so excited to get it (friday).. Now wait another 3 days is going to be brutal lol

Call back a few more times they will credit your account. If one says no keep calling someone will say yes. I guarantee it will happen. Done it 3 tines over the years.

This guy is right. You paid for overnight. You should get it exactly then. I always find a way to farm out money from them. When it was 300, I got 250 credit to my account using the Amazon dealio.

I'm excited to have another developer working our device and it's variants...
