Which guide works to root odexed fl16
You can simply use chainfire exynos exploit app located here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2050297
or you could just use the rooted one click located here

I literally just ran across this app 10sec ago
Did it work? And does the camera now work after using it?

Good to know.
Does camera still work too?
Just asking 'cause I had a friend ask me about that last week when it came out and I haven't had time to check. Chainfire is amazing so I'm sure it's good I just heed the cautions.
Yes
Just remember to use camera first before setting the disable on boot. I remember tray saying something in the thread. Also if camera is blocked out uncheck both and reboot. On fl16 stock rooted from the exynos app. Don't know if its just as easy on other versions

Something I can actually answer and help with?
I had the same problem. I could not use foxfi at work today and I wasted my 15 doing so.
But when I went to re-install this I saw this on their website.

I suggest rooting your wife's epic touch 4g because it is extremely easy now. Even I did it. I believe there are tons of wifi tethering out there for root. But I am sad because I LOVE foxfi too. I hope they do get support for ICS soon.
i'm rooted myself but didn't want to root the wife's phone.
I might just have to now. Or go with easy tether

Same issue here, Foxfi no longer works... so how do I root? Be nice if this is dumb question. I know what it is just never looked up the latest "easy" method. Save me some time please.

I rooted my E4GT the other evening in less than 15 minutes. There are several great One-Click methods to root your phone it all depends on what your current phone firmware is and whether you want to go to the latest release. I decided to take my phone from FH13 to the latest leak FI03 with a one-click. You will need a PC, your usb cable and the single download available on the following links.
for FI03

for FH23

Maybe some of you on custom ROMs have noticed that your second core functions strange, which would also mean terrible battery life and abnormally hot phones.
Well, this is due to something causing the cores to switch governors to "performance" upon boot. The only way to fix it is from a script or other app that controls CPU. That's not all. The second core seems to not function according to specs. It will either always stay on, or always stay off. mpdecision doesn't appear to work properly.
Well, I've narrowed this down to "samsungani" and "samsungpowersound" which are located in /system/bin/. Removing these at an attempt to get custom boot animations working and to get rid of boot sounds are what's causing the funky core behaviors.
The fix is to restore the two files and chmod them 755 as well as chgrp to 2000 to get them back to the way they're supposed to be.
I'm not sure if any of this effects custom kernels but it sure does on the Stock kernel.
The file I uploaded will restore the samsungani and samsungpowersoundplay files to /system/bin/ as well as copy over silent PowerOn and PowerOff sounds.
Wow that's awesome that you figured this out. Great job!!

This is a awesome catch thank you very much. This may be a stupid question but can you provide a zip to fix this or do we need to do it through file explorer and if so can you give us a tutorial on how.

Sure I can provide a zip, give me a bit.
Does this do anything to the cpusleeper app (eugene)? Not the script, but the actual app for those who have it installed? Will the zip you provide defeat the need for the app? Thanks for any additional info!

Nah, the zip will only be adding those files back to /system//bin/ if they were removed, like in order to get support for custom boot animations.
Is it "samsungpowersoundplay" ?

Just flashed it rom definitively seems alot more responsive I was seeing the lag and just had some plain weird stuff going on glad we have a dev lime you to find stuff like this and squash it. Do we need to flash this after we flash a rom obviously your rom will have the fix so I'm not worried about it but for others who arent using your rom.
Edit: is there any way I can test to insure both cores are doing what they are supposed to be doing like an app per say

Well, it really only will matter if your current ROM includes a different boot animation and/or removes those files. In any other case, it will do nothing.

OK thanks again love the rom I know you get asked this a lot but if you ever need a tester let me know I use to test for mijuah but my son stole my s2 so I'm bored now lol.
Zip applied, and I had to duplicate the process to confirm what I thought I saw:
Been running blazer 1.6 for a few days now and I honestly don't know what (if any) boot animations are built into that rom, but in the spirit of testing (and flash addiction) I used this zip.
This is what I noticed (and duplicated to confirm)--
Chainfire's live dmesg/logcat (I used paid versions) were replaced by this zip file.
When I "reinstalled" the first attempt found no boot animation files. I attempted install again and this time it did indeed "repair" the logcat/dmesg boot screen.
This is my first dual core so I have no experience in these apps working or not on such phones.
If this is wide spread then perhaps chainfire might want to look into an update to his code, if this is specific to the sgs3 then maybe we have deeper issues to delve into.
Sprint...LF9...Blazer1.6...no other customizations

I'm currently running ICS 4.0.4 (afraid to let it update because I'm afraid i will lose the flash if i do.)
I have what i think to be a unique problem. I bought a sprint Samsung galaxy s2 epic 4g touch SPH-D710 flashed to Verizon prepaid. Everything works fine but I'd like to be rooted to edit the build.prop file to fix MMS. The problem is I do not have access to a computer whatsoever because i am at a camp (long story). I have SUPERUSER in my app drawer but when i ran ROOT CHECKER BASIC it says I'm not rooted. Anyway, I came across a thread on this forum here saying i could root with an apk file called FRAMAROOT but was wondering:
If i were to attempt to use Framaroot even though i have a "bad" superuser in my app drawer can i mess up the Verizon flash, and more importantly, brick the phone? Like i said i don't have access to a computer so i don't want to mess up this phone asi would be helpless if it were to become bricked. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Here's the Framaroot thread i was talking about btw:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2130276
You will not lose the VZW flash. As always, though, there is a slight chance to brick. You should be good to go though. If that doesn't work, look up exynosabuse here on xda.

But do i need to get rid of the superuser that's in my app drawer before trying framaroot? I dont have access to a computsr to do so. I'm worried the bad root will conflict with framaroot and brick my phone. Thanks again

It shouldnt cause a problem even if its still in your app drawer. Im pretty positive that it will replace that superuser with another that works. I used framaroot on ICS after i tried a whole bunch of one click apps. Its still worked perfectly.

I know there are a couple ways to root.. and)Ive seen a few probs with certian ones... looking for best way...
Not a noob... just looking for the most soild way... ive rooted with CFauto before.. but dont know whats the best to retain shells... had a couple probs there.
1. Should I flash older firmware n then motochopper then odin twrp. Then do I need a kernel with restriction removed?
And use root keeper?
2. Or Use cf- auto. Then odin twrp. No new kernel needed here?....
I just need the most solid way to retain shells...
Someone please help...
One last (Q)... whats the most solid recovery right now.....twrp or cwm?
And is it better to odin it or use goomanager or rom manager...
Sent from my SGH-M919 using xda premium
I dont know about you but I love things that make my life easy.
I rooted using cf-auto....in less than 2 minutes, including downloading the files.
Than I downloaded goomanager and installed twrp in less than down minutes....
So all in total took me approximately 5 minute (at most) to root with my desire recovery.
Twrp and cwm are both stable..matter of preferences and i just like twrp better.

I just updated to 4.1.2, so no I'm not currently rooted, haven't been in some time. One thing I did notice aside from some of the nice new features, is that they removed the side zoom....which has infuriated me. I used that feature more than possibly any particular thing on this phone without realizing it... You might say, "well that's kind of stupid", but I'm on reddit more time than I care to admit, and being able to quickly zoom in on a picture or gif or what have you easily with one hand is a big deal. A quick search showed that I'm definitely in the minority here.
My question is, is there any way to get this back in or an app that will do what I'm wanting?
Thanks

What do mean "once they get things situated with this version"? There are completely stable custom 4.1.2 ROMs with a plethora of options, some with edge zoom incorporated back in...

Well yea...but I don't think they have a root option for this version, so I'd have downgrade to 4.1.1 first. Tbh I didn't look too much into what can be done with the ota version yet. I haven't been rooted since February, so I'm pretty far behind on what's going on these days
