First off, I'm a n00b.
I've been searching around, trying to find a list of Roms that are for locked bootloaders but I can't seem to find one.
Could someone just post a few roms that are for locked bootloaders?
I would unlock my bootloader but the risk seems too high/ I'll lose my warranty.
Thanks beforehand.
PS. Does anyone know how to get CM10 working on locked bootloader for Arc S

There are a lot of roms for locked bootloaders in the development section lol. Just press a thread that looks good, press Control and F, and type in bootloader to see whether that particular Rom is for locked or unlocked. Roms based in stock ICS or GB are for locked bootloaders

Okay so I had a look to see if I could unlock my bootloader the SE way (http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/instructions) but when I did the whole *#*#.............#*#* thing it said I cant unlock my bootloader, is this just them saying I cant or is that a definate and final NO?
My other problem is that when I am downloading torrents through any torrent client my WiFi keeps dropping and reconecting, any ideas?
Which way do you want to unlock? Your device is xpeir arc or arc S?
If arc (not arc S), you can use omunius (please seach by google with omunius).
After unlock xperia arc by omunius, you can see the information unloked allowed:yes, but, it is actually unlocked.
If you use SE unlock, you can see the boot loader unlocked: yes.

I have got an arc S (LT18i), Android Version is 4.0.3. Do you need any other info?
I want to remove the Bootloader Lock, Root and learn how to change the Kernel (I know nothing about Kernels yet).

Sorry, my question didn't have no meaning.
If you see the "Bootloader unlock allowed : no", you cannot unlock Sony's official way.
You have to use some unofficial way, like omunius which require some fees, to remove DRM. If you unlock by omunius, you does not lose DRM feature. But I don't know the way to re-lock the bootloader.
I looked around but couldn't find definitive answer hense the question and as for the torrent, if I wanted to used a pc I would or I would use one of my laptops, but I dont, I want to use my phone. Cheers for the point sarcastic answer though

The answer to bootloader unlocking is in the stickys, which if People read more it would reduce the amount of duplicate threads, and as for torrenting, I just don't see the point of doing it on a phone.

Hi, I m from Brazil
I just bought a Xperia ZQ and it s my first Sony. Can you help me with some questions?
I ve already know that I can change my carrier version by another registered one downloaded right here in xda website without root or unlock the bootloader, right?
As I m not a developer, why would I need to root and unlock the bootloader?
Where, if It is possible, can I find different skins and themes for it?
How can I know about new upates? For example, new releases of firmware or android versions?
Thank you

Its called Xperia ZL so just search it on the search for device bar. You dont have to be a developer to unlock as unlocking can give you cool roms that can be very much customized.

You get updates thru SONY and you will get a notification when you can get a update.
To see if you can unlock your bootloader go to
http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/instructions as it will tell you the directions then once you have unlocked, go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=2095 and find some roms. ( its a little dangerous if you dont know what your doing ) and UNLOCKING will void the warranty

If you have already unlocked your bootloader, without backing up your Drm Keys, then you wont get the bravia engine back.

The phone is fantastic, but the battery is below average even with 3g, altough the relates i hear about SIV are even worse. Since HTC don't sell officialy in Brazil anymore, i don't trust in LG and Motorola don't have a rival for these phones i think ZQ is the best choise.
I'm a heavy user, so i charge it twice a day,but with moderate use + stamina mode i think you can get a day of battery.
I've been trying to buy a Sony Xperia Ion (LT28AT) for use on T-Mobile USA where the bootloader is allowed to be unlocked. So far, all the devices I've looked at all say No.
I know I can still root an LT28AT where the bootloader unlock allowed = No, but I can't install custom ROMs and kernels, right?
But from reading threads here it seems some people can still install custom ROMs and kernels where the answer is No. Can anyone please clear this up for me?
Thanks!
With a locked bootloader you can use roms that are stock-based.
With an unlocked bootloader you can use roms that need another kernel, just like miui, cm 10 etc

Does that include CyanogenMod ROMs like CM10, CM11 etc?
Also, with a locked bootloader can anyone tell me if I can install any kernels that will overclock?
THANKS!
CyanogenMod Roms need their own kernel, and to flash this kernel, you need an unlocked bootloader.
You cant flash any custom kernel on a locked bootloader.
You must unlocked bootloader before flash another kernel.

U can actually flash cm 10 on u a locked boot loader... A developer @mrgeez is working on making cm10 rom for locked bootloaders... Some roms work on locked boot loader and some don't... But ideally don't buy a cell with locked bootloader.. Causes to many problems..

What's inaccurate about it? This is an exception because they managed to get CM10 working with a stock kernel. You can't get any higher versions though because those require an appropriate kernel that isn't stock anymore. There have been a lot of kernel changes between Android 4.1 and 4.2. So on locked bootloader you can install stockbased ROMs (like eXistenZ) and one particular version of CM10. Impossible to flash a custom kernel.
Unlocking the bootloader also has downsides though. Beyond Android 4.0, the Mobile Bravia Engine stops working on an unlocked bootloader. Without that, the colours are a bit more washed out, and the screen already isn't the most vibrant around (the Xperia S screen anyway, but the Xperia Ion screen isn't that different).

So really a locked bootloader means I can't install any kernels, And I can only install ROMs compatible with my existing stock kernel.

Good to know!
Does Flashing SGH-I747 4.3 to a custom ROM will remove the carrier lock of the phone?
No, you are Still locked to your carrier
Sent from my SGH-I747M using Tapatalk
Couple of things to keep in mind:
1) if you want to unlock the phone, get a code and unlock the phone while running a stock ROM. You will not be able to enter the code using a custom ROM; and
2) do not attempt to downgrade the bootloader. Any attempts to downgrade could, and probably will, brick your phone.
Does this really works?

I doubt it. If it did, there would be a big thread about it in the i747/i747m forum. Also, under FAQ, it states the following: support international Galaxy S3 i9300 (Us qualcomm based GS3 are not supported at this time)
The last post in that thread was 2013-06-14.
That unlock app will not work as it does not support U.S S3 variants
There's a working downgrade to 4.1.1 check it out and while on it, try the free unlock then upgrade again
Edit: my bad.. You can't do the free unlock even of you downgrade because the bootloader is still 4.3... Only way to do it once you're on 4.3 bootloader is to purchase an unlock code
Good luck

Are we stuck with original firmware or is there something I've missed?
I would like all the tweaks and customisations which after-market ROM flashing gives but many seem to require unlocked BL.
