Our device has a really good camera ,but the size of the photos are very small... When I was on stock ICS rom ,the size of the photos were only 2-2.5MB ,so it really decreases the quality. There is a mod or something to improve this thing?

I no longer like SONY's products, because the parts are very low quality, in two months the battery cover started moving, also my soft touch plastic is not soft anymore, it became glossy, and easily gets scratched, so planning to buy HTC One X+ next month, and as for camera, I'd say you can't do anything with that, I've tried a lot of roms and applications , the came wont get better, it has a lot of noise, and pictures look awful at night )) So forget about enhancing that camera.
My cover is still firm and fit... Maybe you were practicing for rugby Match

I really like the camera, especially the way it handles shots taken in low light. And having the dedicated camera button is a major plus as well.

has any one tried using camera 360 app or something similar?
am considering buying this phone to use on t mobile usa but some reviews undermine the camera (gsmarena for example)
i get better pics in the auto mode from camera 360 app than the stock camera on my x10i with stock 2.3
so maybe if that's the case then there might be hope for it to get better with updates

honestly, the pictures taken by ion aren't as good as those by x10. pictures by x10 are clearer and they have more realistic colors..
same object but the one taken by x10 is just clearer while they both get the right focus point and under same settings (except that 12 megapixel on ion and 8 megapixel on x10).
also, a simple way to tell which phone takes better pictures is to take a look at the lens. larger lens will definitely take better pictures. appearantly, x10's camera lens is larger than ion's.
the only good point for ion is that its focus and shutter speed is super fast, so you can hardly get any blurry pictures
finally, compare if you don't trust me, but remember to view pictures on larger screen first

I wonder how many people were aware that greater megapixel count don't necessarily equal better pictures. Hopefully ppl did research before purchasing this phone.
But I will say that the colors are much better on the ion and quality as well. Also it takes much better pictures at night when compared to the x10, I was surprised since the ion is horrible under this condition, especially when compared to the current wave of phones.

I don't think it is the software as much as it is the camera that is the main complaint. My wife has the HTC Sensation and the camera is loads better than the GS II. We both upgraded same time, that first night we were out and took pics with our phones and her shots are by far better than anything I took on my phone and this was out of the box without changing any settings. Her phone excels in night shots where mine looks super pixelated.
Htc cameras are the best around. I find using procapture to be best at macro shots. I think there was a discussion on this awhile ago in the themes and apps section. There was another camera.... But i forgot which.. Oh Wells I stuck to procapture, but night shots still suck.

I just switched from Sprint to AT&T(best idea ever btw) and I got the gs3 for me and a hox for my wife. The gs3 has the hox beat in almost all aspects. One thing the hox does have the galaxy beat at though is camera (atleast on stock). There is just so much blur on the gs3 if anything is not staying still. Also low light performance Is much better. Anyways I'll get to my point...loving this phone, just want to know what settings if not stock everyone is using on the camera?

Actually the GSIII has a better camera, the HOX may have better camera software though. In my opinion the HOX wins in two categories only: screen and build quality/design. SGS3 wins in everything else
Call it the hardware. Call it the software. Hox takes better pictures. Also the display is brighter and crisper on one x but the blacks are definitely better on the galaxy.

Except they aren't at all... The GSIII has an obvious grey tint in very low light situations. The "true blacks" are left to the GS1.
Ya I just set my home screen and lock screen. To an all black background and the lock screen looks like it has Grey fog or smoke on it while the home screen looks fine. Anyone else having this problem? It's really starting to annoy me.

If you have the "ripple" effect turned on for the lockscreen, that's why you're seeing the gray haze. It's part of the ripple setting being on. Turn that off, and it will go away.

One X with root to flash a high quality camera mod is much, much better than the GS3 for both photos and video.
The GS3 just doesn't have the optics to keep up, sensor innovation can only carry you so far.

I dont think the camera/optics/sensors make or break the decision on one phone or the other. They are both great.
I take a ton of photos for work and I never have issues with blurry or bad lighting. I can't compare to the hox but compared to my infuse this thing rocks. No complaints here regarding the sgs3 camera quality.

Doesn't the One X have a Fantastic standby mode too? My friend can last 2 days easy on his phone because he uses it moderately. I feel I couldn't do it because the Android os or Cell Standby will drain me by then
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
Standby is better in the hox. I feel like I can get more screen time with the gs3 though. Either way they both have amazing battery life. Also the hox has random lag here and there sometimes. Can be kind if annoying. I'm sure once I root it and throw a custom Rom on there it will be more smooth.

It's not the standby mode thats great, its the aggressive task managing. People complain about multitasking, however it runs well for it when the phone is off and in your pocket because it kills everything.

I still enjoy the camera quality better than any other camera I've ever had.
The camera is pretty good. I think where you will find some issues with it will be in low light or very bright situations. The thing is that the camera does not compensate very well for low light, and bright light washes out the pictures some. I like the camera, and it has taken a lot of really good pictures for me, problem is that it has also taken a lot of really crappy pictures for me. The inconsistency is frustrating, but that said, it's better than either my Motorola Cliq (oh yeah!) or my Samsung Epic.
I have learned how to take pics with the camera. I am still not 100% happy with it in the fact that I cannot pull it out and snap a pic. I have to clean the lens, open the camera app then touch to focus and then snap the pic. If I skip the touch to focus then 80% of my pics are blurry. Really sucks but since I have been doing the touch focus step I have been getting way better pics.
The camera is great for a phone. Anybody who says otherwise uses superior equipment or simply doesn't know how to take a good picture. Now the front facing camera, there's no helping that. Makes things look melted/blurred.
Thank you guys for following the topic.

With _Epic's camera mod, the camera is great.
Stock ZVB camera sucks.
With AOSP, it's even worse.
Has anyone found a way to prevent the flash from massively blowing out the resulting photos? It seems way too bright and the software does a terrible job compensating for it. My Evo LTE did an awesome job with flash photos. I'm on stock rooted ZVB with Epic's mod.

I have found that the setting on the camera really changes things. Out in Yosemite I was taking pictures and some were really ****ty and others great. The biggest things that made a difference were touch to focus and then changing the mode. For instance last night none of my pics were turning out so I set night mode on, wala, great photos. Then we were taking landscape pics and they were alright, changed it to landscape and it was much better. But changing the white mode or scene or whatever to sun really helped too. Its just amazing how bad the auto settings are cause once you play with it, its a great camera to me.
