Recently unlocked my phone (OPTUS001) cid and trying to upgrade to JB I have rooted and installed ROM Manager and download various builds through the app but all failed I am running 2.17 Have tried going back to RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_ICS_40_Optus_AU_1.28.980.10_Radio_1.1204.103.14_release_258004_signed but fails, I fairly new to modding these phone but love my HTC one X could some please help (A Noobs version) on how to upgrade to JB
Thanks In Advance
I don't think you flashed the boot.img with fastboot commands, the rommanager doesn't work because we don't have S-off phones !
Now the problem, you are unlocked and you run a custom recovery ? and on wich hboot are you on at the moment ? Put the phone in bootloader menu and check also put the phone in fastboot USB menu and do the next fastboot commands
Fastboot getvar version-main
and
Fastboot oem readcid
Post the answers to my questions and the outcome from the commands here please !

You can't run an RUU with a lower version than your current, go to the general section and find the collection of stock nanodroids thread and download the stock nanodroid for Optus001

Download your matching nandroid from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1975140
Flash the boot.img from it and do a full wipe in recovery and then restore the nandroid !
After that flash back the stock recovery and you are ready to update

Just So I know what i'm doing before I do it
I have download matching nandriod rar format I extracted files
Contents are
.android_secure.vfat.tar
boot.img
cache.ext4.tar
data.ext4.tar
nandroid.md5
recovery.img
system.ext4.tar
with phone unlocked
do I do the following
fastboot flash boot boot.img
Wipe in recovery mode
then
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
from the downloaded files
Your help is appreciated
You have to do this :
Make a folder on the sdcard
Sdcard\clockworkmod\backup\time and date folder of the backup that's in the rar file\all those backup files
Then you copy the boot.img from it to the fastboot folder on the pc
Then you boot into the bootloader and flash that boot.img
Then you boot back into recovery and do a full wipe except sdcard. Delete all caches, data system ....
Then you tap backup & restore and restore the nandroid backup
After that you boot the phone and check it works fine
After that you flash back the STOCK recovery (its not the one from the backup because the backup is done with a custom recovery !
Here is the stock recovery you need
http://db.tt/U5CK4noo
The last thing is to flash back this recovery and you are good to and update the phone with official JB

Be more specific please, did u do a system update ? To what version 4.04 ? I dont understand your software update never seen such a number ??? And what about apps ...you mean apps in the playstore ?
And maybe your provider hasn't rolled out the update to JB yet, that's why you might not get it at the moment and have to wait for it

No rooting is no problem, you can also update with root active, just make sure you keep the rom stock (don't delete system apps) or if you flash the cwm recovery and then do a new nandroid backup from this rom you always have a 100% stock rom to go back to ! Always safe to do that , and copy the new nandroid to a computer or dropbox .... Always safe !
To update you need stock rom, recovery and boot.img ....

Yes thats the stock recovery....its normal, if you want to enter the recovery after that you have to push volume down and power button to confirm.....if i recall it right.
Its volume + and power button
But the stock recovery is pretty much useless ....it doesn't have the features that a custom recovery has

Hey guys,
I have an HTC__044 device which is unlocked and running a custom ROM with a custom boot.img. I am wanting to restore the phone to stock ROM so I can download the JellyBean OTA.
I've seen the procedure for returning to stock RUU, but I am not sure on the procedure for when you have a full Nandroid backup of your stock ROM.
Could someone please clarify?
I understand it to be as follows:
1. Boot in to recovery and restore Nandroid backup of original ROM
2. Flash stock boot.img extracted from RUU via fastboot (or boot.img from backup directory on SD card)
3. Flash stock recovery via fastboot (or recovery.img from backup directory on SD card)
4. relock bootloader via fastboot
5. Reboot phone and stock ROM will be recovered
6. Download and install OTA.
Have I missed anything? Do you really need to flash back to stock recovery? I don't really see the point of doing that?
Thanks

Yeah, looks good to me.
You don't need to relock it if you're just going to apply the OTA.
To apply OTA, you need stock recovery.
Oh really? Cool!!
So I can just recover the NANDROID backup, and flash the boot.img then check it boots. then flash the stock recovery and download the OTA without re-locking?
I thought you had to lock the bootloader to get OTA updates as unlocked bootloader sets the CID to none, so no OTAs are detected, no?

I've never tried it, but as far as I know, you don't need to lock it, updates are based on IMEI, not CID, and although CID can show as all 1s in some places, fastboot oem readcid should return the correct one.
However it takes about 5 seconds to lock it and just a few more to unlock it, so... Your choice.
If you have the Stock RUU your device shipped with, just go in fastboot, connect to pc and run the RUU.exe.
If not, the steps in first post looks like a good route to flash back to your original ROM.
In my case it was shorter:
1. Restore nandroid backup (of the original ROM, did after root).
2. Fastboot oem lock
3. Run RUU
That's all.
You can try this too.
Regards.

Go to fastboot and type below command

Yours is same as mine, CID HTC__044 and 3.14.707.24
When reading your thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2055377 I'm a little bit puzzled on why do you want to revert to stock as your device is already on JellyBean and there is no further OTA at the moment.
Here are three scenario that you may need to choose.
1) You just want to revert to stock ROM but you still need to root it.
a. Flash the stock boot.img attached here (That's the stock boot.img for 3.14.707.24)
b. Restore your nandroid backup
c. Reboot.. you are done .. you will have stock ROM but still on custom recovery in case you still need to play around like rooting the stock ROM or whatever you want to do.
2) You want to revert to stock ROM with everything complete stock with your nandroid backup.
a. Flash the attached stock boot.img
b. Restore your nandroid backup
c. Reboot to bootloader again
d. Flash the attached stock recovery.img (That's the stock recovery.img for 3.14.707.24)
e. Relock your bootloader with command "fastboot oem lock"
f. Reboot your device.. you are done.
3) You want to revert to stock with a RUU.
a) Download RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_JB_45_S_hTC_Asia_WWE_3.14.707.24_Radio_5.1204.162.29_release_296434_signed.exe from various site that you can it this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1543604 or you can download from where that I uploaded one : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=34971176&postcount=2487
b) Put your device in fastboot mode and relock your bootloader with command "fastboot oem lock"
c) In fastboot mode too, run the RUU and follow the updater instruction - next- next-update-blablabla until it finish
d) Complete the setup wizard, you are done.

with the following command
' fastboot flash recovery recovery.img'
it apparently flashed correctly.. but everytime i try to do an OTA update for 4.1 it goes back into ClockworkMod Recovery? and the installation gets aborted

HBOOT: 1.12.0000
Recovery: TWRP 5.8.4.0
Can you help me and tell me how to fix my Problem.

What do you mean, are you on stock rom and tried to do the official update with the custom recovery ?
If you have 100% stock rom, stock boot.img and stock recovery you can update
http://db.tt/U5CK4noo
Flash this one and try again. Keep the bootloader unlocked .... Its no problem
I tried your Recovery but it didnt worked..
I have stock rom, stock recovery (now) and i think i have stock boot.img.
if my boot.img is the prob how can i change it?
i used the Hasoon200 tool to root my phone nothing else was done
very big thanks for your help
If you are really sure you have the nandroid backup of your original stock rom the stock boot.img should be inside that nandroid backup folder !
If you made any changes to the stock rom like deleting system apps or any other bloatware then the update will also fail

That's probably the problem, the other problem is that i didn't see the matching ruu on HTCruu.com and i also didn't see the nandroid backup you need in the nandroid backup collection thread.
You have an option to upgrade to jellybean ! Flash the firmware the unofficial way , your cid is supported and after flashing the firmware you have the updated hboot to flash JB roms
I give you the link in a minute
---------- Post added at 11:09 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:06 PM ----------
Here you can download the firmware matching your cid
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1957376
I have to check for a detailed guide, I never done this myself so I don't know to much about it
But after that you are stuck to a custom rom......
ok very big thanks, i will think about it and i will see what i do tomorrow...
but very very big thanks for the fast help... i remeber for me : "never delete system apps you idiot"
Yeah well .... To late now
Here i have the firmware flasher , you have to download the firmware in the first link i gave you and this link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1924003
Has the tool where you have to put the firmware in.
Don't ask me how this works exactly, never done this myself but read the OP of the threads really carefully !
Wohoo its working
I have found my system backup recovered it and the update works
big thanks for your help,... I would never have come to a missing system app

anybody?
When i soft bricked my phone i run the RUU in fastboot and it worked fine.
you will need to relock your bootloader and have more than 30% battery.
Yes phone in bootloader / fastboot usb menu
Lock the bootloader
Fastboot oem lock
Keep the phone in fastboot usb mode and run the RUU WITH admin rights (right click the ruu to choose it)
so no stock recovery needed

The rru. Flashes stock boot, recovery and system imgs all that's required is 30% or higher battery and a locked/relocked bootloader.
play tekkit? come join my server for some fun. 193.35.58.2:25575

Get yourself a ICS nandroid matching your MAIN VERSION number, restore it completely and flash back the matching stock recovery, then update manually to stock JB....again.
Ow and a ruu actually does flash everything back !
Give the main version and cid
Fastboot getvar version-main
Fastboot oem readcid

No you need the full 3.14.401.31ruu instead of the ota. The 3.14.401.27 will not work because that one contains the 1.36 hboot and you are on the 1.39 hboot, downgrade is impossible
Are u on a unlocked bootloader and a custom recovery , then get your cid
Fastboot oem readcid
and download your matching nandroid here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1975140
Do a full wipe, flash the boot.img from the nandroid and restore the nandroid .... Then flash back the stock 3.14 recovery .... and then relock the bootloader
Fastboot oem lock
That's the closest to stock you can get !
Hi,
Yes I am on unlocked bootloader with custom recovery
I've downloaded the file stock-nandroid-3.14.401.31.tar.bz2
I've managed to display the file contents
boot.emmc.win
boot.emmc.win.md5
data.ext3.win
data.ext3.win.md5
system.ext4.win
system.ext4.win.md5
would i be correct in saying i extract the boot.emmc.win from the file and then flash it
restore the nandroid from within twrp
flash boot-3.14.401.img
relock bootloader
would this then be suitable to send off to htc for repair?
Flash the boot file as it is, you don't need to rename it
And yes that's all you can do
Don't forget to flash back the stock 3,14 recovery

flashed boot.emmc.win
extracted the files to clockworkmod\backup but when choose restore on twrp it says updating partitions and doesn't do anything
should the files be copied to twrp folder?
Yes if the backup was done with twrp you can't restore it in the cwm folder. Don't know the exact paths of the twrp backup

thanks - i've installed CWM via fastboot and when attempt to restore get a md5 error
trying to get adb working on my machine so perform the md5sum check but always reports no devices - fastboot is fine
What i meant was that you can't restore a twrp backup with cwm at all, maybe there is a workaround but i don't know it, flash the twrp back and check in the backup collection thread if there is info about the twrp folders
Twrp backups are at /sdcard/TWRP/BACKUPS/[device serial]/[backup name]/

i got the nandroid for my phone from xda <http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1975140>
first i flashed the (boot.emmc.win , recovery.emmc.win) from the nandroid backup from the page above
the goes to the recovery to restore the nandroid by twrp then when it finsh nd the phone start normally it reach to the normal screen with ring lock then it freezes nd no thing else i could only use the power key nd the volume key
plz help me why that happen ?
First restore backup, then flash boot.emmc.win..And when you flash it use fastboot erase cache..And then wipe cache (and factory reset - wipe everything except sd and battery stats)..
could i use Philzrecovery 5.15.9 to restore backup?
i forget to mentioned that the recovery.emmc.win from the nandroid backup doesn't work nd freezes too
nd how to use fastboot erase cache??
I think you can,but i use clockwordmode
Did you download Fastboot files?
And then hold shift right click od fastboot folder and open command promp here
On phone hold power and volumen down then enter fastboot and plug your usb it will write Fastboot USB
and then in already opened command prompt type
fastboot flash boot boot.emmc.win
fastboot erase cache
ok i did it with clockworkmode but i always got m5 mismuch !!

For you will work only nandroid backup nothig else. Download any nandroid backup for base 3.18.401.1 and find stock recovery from ota for 3.18.40.1 and upgrade after this from setting/ software update and don't forget to do nandroid backup if you want to install custom roms

You are not Right after 3.14.401.31 no more RUU you can try hole life to find and never will finish with success:silly:
I did all what u mentioned but plz could u read my first post to konw whats happened to my phone it always freezes after restoring
Hint......your backup is to old. Get a newer one or at least one that fits your main version !!!
To get the correct main version you use this command :
Fastboot getvar version-main
Soms tips :
1: ALWAYS start with the main number
2: second problem is the cid, some cids are interchangeable. Getting a nand with the exact same main but with a different cid works 9 out of 10 !
3: see #1 !
4: how to restore a nand backup ?
Flash the boot.img (or emmc file)
Flash the recovery.img (or emmc file)
Make a full wipe in the recovery
Restore the backup
That's all ......
Realy I did but the same problem the freezing after restoring .. So if u could help me to find another nandroid backup for my phone inspite of this one that I used before
Read read read, what's the number that comes out of "fastboot getvar version-main
Post it here ! If it's truly 3.18.401 then you have the wrong download !
Realy its 3.18.401.1
So plz complte ur favorit nd help to find the right one
