[Q] Help Please: Charging. - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there.
I updated my Samsung Note II N7100 to the french firmware a couple of days ago using Odin, since then I've had a problem with the phone.
1. It started with me trying to use the Charger I got with the phone, and the phone started to recognise it as a dock rather than a charger, then it switched itself of, after 30 seconds of using the charger, and now the charger doesn't work at all when the phone is switched on. However...
When the phone is switched of I can charge my phone with the charger.
Also sorry, just to note, the screen doesn't work when connected to the charger turned on, but the stock buttons work.
2. When I connect to the computer both Kies/Odin doesn't recognise the phone with the USB cable (Again the one that came with the phone) however it will charge my phone, both on and off. The computer doesn't seem to recognise the phone properly either, as I can't transfer any data to it, as it doesn't come up on my computer.
---
So far I have tried a factory reset with the phone, and in in which time I also removed Kies, and the Drivers, from computer, the factory reset kept me on the french rom, but removed all the data.
My Phone details are as follows:
APL: n7100XXDLL4
CP: n7100XXDLK7
CSC: N7100XADLL4
Any help would greatly be appreciated.
Many thanks
Rich

galaxy nexus charging/data connection issues

i have the GSM version of this phone and i have been having problems recently. i searched throughout the most of the forums and no real answer. my probelm is:
i cant charge or connect to my computer. so that means no file transfers.
i have tried different computers AND different USB cables AND i toggled the USB debug mode and tried to install drivers even though it wasnt needed. i was able to just do a plug and play and it will detect external storage. now it wont detect anything nor will it charge. the computer will attempt to find drivers when i reboot the phone into recovery mode or was it fastboot mode.
the only time it charges is if i connect it to an external charger (wall ac) and not just any wall AC. i noticed it will only charge when connected to a 500+ma outlet.
another strange thing is that if i power off the phone and connect it to my computer, it will have the charging logo but it wont be charging or it will be charging extremely slow because after 10 minutes i will turn it back on the battery will not even go up 1% vs it will have gone up 2+% on a wall charger.
i tried multiple roms 4.0.4/ 4.1/ 4.1.1 and no success. i tried the franco kernel and check on Fast Charge but that doesnt seem like it solves anything.
there is one thing i also noticed as well. in ES explorer when i go into the phone root directory, i notice a file called "Charger". i attempted to open this file using ES reader and at first it will show some weird asian/chinese characters but when i open it now it shows "failed to open this file (java.io.ioexception... unknown source at java.lang. thread.run(thread.java:856)" i have tried deleting this file but it will not let me.
please help. i dont think its an hardware issue YET since i am still able to run the phone perfeclty fine and charge it no problems via wall outlet. would it be the firmware or the "yakaju" firmware? i read somewhere that this has happened to someone in one of the other threads.

[Q] USB not connecting to computer

So I can't get my s3 to connect to a computer. I have tried three different computers, two windows and one mac.I have also tried three different usb cords including the one that came with the phone and a brand new one I bought just to see if it was the cord. Have done a factory reset and tried everything with usb debugging on and off. My phone will charge but the computer doesn't recognize it. I have reinstalled the drivers twice on both windows computers and tried the Kies troubleshooting. I have also put it into download mode and Odin doesn't recognize it. When I plug it into the computer nothing happens, no sounds or messages saying something was plugged in. The phone does not have the option in the notification menu for usb debugging. I can use AirDroid to put just about anything I want to on my phone over wifi so I am not too upset about it not connecting but I would really like to put CM10 on it so I kind of need it to connect. I am using the stock AT&T rom. I rooted the phone awhile ago but then wanted to update so I went back to the stock rom and then updated. It would still connect to the computer after this update. Unfortunately I did not reset the flash counter so I doubt AT&T will do anything about it when it shows I have messed with it. I kind of think it is a hardware issue on the phone after doing all of this. Does anyone have any other ideas on what I could try?

[Q] Device refuses to connec to usb

Hi,
I had my phone for quite a while now. I flashed Carbon rom last october and everythings working fine since then. however, since yesterday, the phonr suddenly refuses to connect in usb mode to the computer.it the 'mtp connection' and 'usb conncted' pops up for 1 second and then dissappears. I am able to charge the phone just fine. Tried two different cables, rebooting the phone and gives the same result.any ideas?
It happened for me too.I suspect your USB cable is damaged.it may charge fine but when connecting to pc it will automatically disconnect.same thing happened when I tried with different USB cables.then I bought an original cable from Sony and it works fine till now.
Try these before buying a new cable
1) make sure if USB debugging is disabled
2) see if USB tethering works
3) As a last resort flash current official stock rom

How do you unbrick a hard bricked samsung galaxy s3 using computer and usb cord?

Recently i bought a samsuung galaxy s3 off of the internet and when it arrived i checked to see if everything was good. when i took the back off the sd card and sim card reader were broken off. so i turned the device on and it worked perfectly. started to root the device and when i tried to download supersu binary a notification popped up and said "knox is installed on this device, this can cause root access to be limited. would you like to remove knox?" when i did that the phone tried to reboot and then it was hard bricked. the only thing that works is when i plug it into a computer without the battery inserted via usb cord and the charging light appears then my computer tries to install the driver for it. after about 20 seconds the light turns off and my phone disconnects with my computer. Is there anyway to unbrick it by using a computer and usb cord? please help (ps i have the AT&T Version SGH-I747M)

Suddenly LG G4 can't be recognised by computer

Hello,
All of a sudden my LG G4, Model 815 can't be recognised by computers anymore. Tried different PC's, with different OS, also have tried different cables. I have been using official cable that I found in original package and everything was working good, but now the phone only shows charging and PC's are showing popups that usb device is not recognised.
I was doing a little reasearch and already tried some simpliest things - reinstalling drivers, tried different cables, different PC's. For example my cable works fine with HTC M9, but doesn't do the thing for me anymore. And vice versa HTC cable works for HTC and does not for my LG. Also I found that you must simply select "charging" in top of your left corner and just select MTP. The problems is, that is not shown in my phone anymore. I'm thinking of trying to do factory reset, but before that maybe some of you have some thoughts? Could it be my phone hardware problem? Before a couple of days ago when everyting was working fine, I did not do anyting unusual, also that phone was never rooted, so I can't believe that it is somehow broken. I have it for nearly three months I think.
And yes, I understand that I can simply transfer my files through, for example AirAndroid of similar apps, but I cannot stand that error sounds playing on my laptop when I connect my phone through the cable to charge it.
Now it is running Android OS 6.0 (marshmallow)
LG G4 MTP Transfer Broken
Hello XDA,
I am having the exact same issue. MTP worked fine and then one day stopped. I believe it happened when I tried to transfer photos from phone to computer via USB and File Explorer. The transfer started, then after about 3 images transferred I received an error, "file transfer the system cannot find the file specified", after that the USB logo disappears, it will disappear from Device Manager, it will not even charge via USB. A phone reboot will fix the USB charging, but the option to switch to MTP is gone. I can't which it in in Developer Options either.
I've also tried all the same things LocaSnai suggested. Such as, different cords (3 of them), windows drivers, LG Air Drive, LG PC Suite, and LG Mobile Support Tool, Verizon Wireless Software Upgrade Assistant, of which none will update or repair the phone. I've also restarted Media Storage service (force stop and reboot). My Nexus 7 tablet connects perfect every time using the same 3 cables. The wife's i phone 6 also connects without issue.
I have performed a factory reset and MTP worked UNTIL I restored the LG backup. Then it went back to the same issue. Factory reset was a LG Support idea. They said that if it happened after the factory reset and back up restore, it could be a virus or issue with an app. How would we go about detecting what is wrong?
While working on this message I tired a few new things. I am able to get MTP to show up (not work as it used to) by plugging the phone into power, and then unplugging and plugging into USB. Each time, MTP will recognize (I tried all the software above when MTP shows up, none recognize the phone.) If I unplug USB and plug back into USB, MTP will not show up, only charge will. Have to plug into power then back to USB (I am using two cables, one in the brick and one in USB. Nexus 7 will work as expected with the same two cables). Some times I see the Yellow Triangle over the LG UBS entry, but following this tutorial doesn't work: www.verizonwireless.com/support/knowledge-base-161810/ Uninstalling the driver and letting it reinstall.
My phone is as original as the day I bought it. ie not rooted or tampered with. Android is up-to-date.
Thank you in advance to the kind folks who offer assistance!

I had the same problem (at the same time I had problems with my sim and my message light was showing a dim green..), tried everything, drivers, cables, at the end a different pc and then I rebooted my phone while It was connected to the 2nd pc, after this, every problem was gone and I good see my phone again in windows. Now after a few reboots with and without the connection to a pc, the phone seems to be working as usual again...
(and My phone is also as original as the day I bought it. ie not rooted or tampered with. Android is up-to-date.)
Doorwerth, thank you for the suggestion. Tried that a few minutes ago and still have an issue.
I'm considering this next: LG G4: How to Boot into Download Mode. I think it's a bit extreme.
