I don't think that kind of minor upgrade would benefit us a lot. Just wait for CM9 from acro.

At least this 'Value Pack' will add some value to GB. Its a good news for GB's lovers, but all here including me wants ICS.
I hope arco will release CM9 to public in April.

This value pack actually translates to u will never get ICS. Its looking less likely that an ICS rom will ever appear frim any modder. They r worse than samsung they tease us with how good it is yet never let us put it on our devices. Stinks awfully like vapourware to me. A device less than 6 months old has been dropped. I will never buy another samsybg product again. as of now this piece of crap galaxy is going onsale and i will buy from someone else. abyobe else buying from samsung look elsewhere.

This is super sick. What do Samsung really want? I guess this might be an indirect way saying ICS won't be out for the W. Gah, I will hate the value pack. -.-

Samsung will update the next models with a special ”value pack” update.
- Samsung I9000 Galaxy S.
- Samsung I9001 Galaxy S Plus.
- Samsung I9003 Galaxy SL.
- Samsung I8150 Galaxy W.
- Samsung P1000 Galaxy Tab.
This Value pack will be available upcoming months.
You could get a update via KIES or OTA (over the air)
What means: ”value pack”
A value pack is a special update for smartphones to give them a extra boost.
This value pack will give you things like facelock, small interface changes, battery and speed.
All value packs are based on Android 2.3.6!

the reason these manufacturers deny us ICS is the claim that our devices can not handle ICS and their useless customization like touchwiz (Samsung) and sense (HTC) together. Emphasis on the "claim".
Now Samsung sold over ten million galaxy s and w who knows how many.
Can we just force them to release pure ICS and say screw touchwiz... or at least release the drivers so that our beloved and capable developers here port ics for us.

CyanogenMod

When I see at Cm site and forum phones like lg optimus one, htc desire or samsung galaxy mini I feel awful.
How this phones and many other low spect phones do have CM and we don't.
We all know that SGY is better than mini(not such a big deal) or htc desire(froyo, lower screen resolution) or lg optimus one(king of lag and bugs, froyo).
And I wonded how are those drivers so important that a lot lower phones are getting higher and us lower?
Someone please correct me if I'm wrong and help me figure out this mistery...

Our gpu and cpu are configured in such a way that we can't use half of its power...
Our gpu is good one....
Devs are trying hard...
And CM developers are not so expert to make one for our device....
Even all devs of sgs3,2,1, galaxy nexus, nexus s, nexus 7, htc one x, note 1, 2, Galaxy tab, many more...
Will be unable to make a fully working cm widout drivers...

But has anybody thought about creating drivers?

you should have gotten a mini,
it's reality that we don't have CM for this device,
it does not bother me though,
we have a lot of custom roms though not as good as a stable CM could be but it's better than nothing,
there are nearly 2,000+ android devices and only about 30(?)+ has a CM and nearly 300(?)+ has developed custom OEM roms,
so consider us luckier than nothing

The parts were manufactured by different companies the company that made ours refuses to share it, it has nothing to go with specs

They didnt get the drivers! They are using ours still..
they hav almost stable cm7 because of the active dev support..

because of the developers,
we lack certain people with complete knowledge of these topics,
that is why we are stuck with this matter,

Here is difference.
Ace 5830i is using broadcomm chip which also havnt got drivers and they also are stuck on CM 7.2 .
The one which has ics jb is ace 5830. i is differenciating both.

Guys, a good news, I think arco had started to build a Kernel 3.x, which may be better for ICS, and necessary for JB to get a full butter experience

actually what are differences between kernel 2.6xx and 3.x ?

I think that a Kernel 3.x will support Project Butter. Maybe better battery life.

don't worry, like arco said the kernel is for W too, just matter of time

everything about kernel is easily portable from s+
the main problem are ancora-specific files like board.. and lack of enthusiasts, cause our phone is not so popular

Ehhh, who ported it and got it running in the first place? That's right, me. And what phone do I have? That's right, Galaxy W. So obviously it also works for the Galaxy W. The board files for the S+ is based on the work done on the board files for the W, not the other way around.

I think the next cm9 release by arco will using 3.x.x kernel, but maybe the beta 3 will come out about one month (or less?) as the kernel was hardly WIP. Goodluck arco, you make sammy looks like piece of sh*t

Nope. And it won't see it either.
4.1.2 is about it for our tablet.
G2x-CM7 Nightly 11/25/12 Build, Trinity ELP Kernel

Its not worth the time for me to build it blind, it doesn't run any better and if it's your wife's a100 you don't need the users. Other then being a higher number it offers nothing worth the hours to do it when 4.1.2 runs just fine. Plus the changes Google made again are just stupid.
And no, its not because I can't do it, I've built and run cm10.1 for a few days now, one of the first in the world.
IMO I'd do it blind then get blasted for no boots, boot looping, then hardware working less then 100%, crashes and whatever. So aside from trash talking I'd get nothing out of it.
I've said it before, unless someone hands me an a100 I'm not doing more blind work for it.

If you look in the android development section theres a ROM by pio called jelly time sosei and it is 4.1.2

At least you didn't ask in the DEV section, they would have eaten you alive hahaha, but there aren't any ETAs. People do this on their own time. Not your time. Just wait for it to come out. Until then, just use the 3.4 Build which is perfectly stable.

no 4.2.2 roms support BT mouse or MHL HDMI output

both roms are excellent with many, many features (too many for me list here)
both roms are based off Cyanogen mod 10.1 4.2.2 jelly bean
If you go to the android development section of this forum
you will see these roms listed...
go to the opening page of these roms and read under features
BTW... one more thing I do believe that WIP stands for Work In Progress
