[SOLVED] Help upgrading to Jelly Bean - HTC One X

Hello,
Some details about my phone
CID-TELNZ001 (i got it from telecom NZ but its not locked to telecom NZ)
HBoot-1.12.0000
Till recently i was using ARHD (ICS version) and today morning i got a mail saying that Jelly bean is available..so according to my understanding i have to revert it to original rom n stock recovery and then upgrade OTA and then i can install other jelly bean versions of custom roms right ? but i m not finding how to revert to original rom..i checked on HTC RUU and they have a rom 1.26.781.2...at first when i installed ARHD this was the version i was getting but now today the version seems to be changed somehow n its now like 2.17.781. something..i dont knw how to update HBoot version now to install the OTA jelly bean
Thanks...any help would be appreciated
For the moment i again reinstalled ARHD so that i can have a usable phone

do a quick search and you'll find a stickied thread on how to revert back to stock rom

But the stickied threads asks me to download the RUU which is not available for my region as i told in the first thread..!! i want the RUU for 2.17.781. something..which is not there...can any one provide me that.?? for Telecom NZ

Did u make a nandroid backup from the original rom before u flashed different roms ? If not .... WHY NOT
a nandroid backup is a ticket out of bad situations and situations like this !!!
I hope that there is actually a ruu released for you !

Hmm this one is a challenge ! I also didn't see it in the nandroid backup thread, when i have more time tonight i can search some more.
Can you do the fastboot command
Fastboot getvar version-main
and
Fastboot oem readcid
These give at least the real cid and version of the phone ! And post them here

(Update) Help upgrading to Jelly Bean
I got to knw that my version-main was 1.26.781.2 before installing ARHD...any chances that custom rom can change the version main...i dont think so but jst to ask this to the senior members who knw a lot better...i tried one of the tools from this forum where it tried to change my version main successfully to 1.00.000 or something but when i checked it was not there as i expected..!!
So only question is how to flash the version main to my original (i.e 1.26.781.2) so that i can flash RUU to go back to stock.
Is it possible to extract rom.zip from the RUU and take selected files from it and make a PJ46IMG.zip file and flash it to get version main to stock...?
Thanks..!! All help appreciated..!!

No a custom rom can not change the official main version. Are you sure you didn't do an official update at some point ?
Because the hboot 1.12 belongs to software number 2.17 and ics roms......if you are on 1.29 software you should have had a different hboot number as in 0.95 or 0.96
And can you explain why it's not locked to telznet ? If it's a branded phone it should be locked !

Wouldn't it solve the problem if someone just uploaded his nandroid?

M pretty sure that i dint do the update...i had tried many times but that time it was not released for my region so the question of me upgrading is not there at all...i have jst got it from a parallel imports shop and it had this telecom rom on it with no signs of upgrade so i just rooted it and changed rom to ARHD....but its not locked to telecom nz bcoz i am using a different carrier from the first day of gettin the phone and never had a problem with it..!!
Thanks..!!

Strange
Well if the ruu can't be found and also no android backup you are stuck to a ics custom rom.....you can install a JB rom but that are the CM10 type roms (without sense)

Well you could flash a stock ROM, and try to find a stock recovery, wich has probably been uploaded somewhere here. As soon as you got the stock ROM and recovery, you can install your update.

Please provide me with the stock rom link for my region if u have seen it anywhere, CID and version main are there in first post..!!
Thanks..!! cheers.!!:good:

I already checked and its not there ! Please pay attention to the info that has already been given, it's not.possible to just run any stock rom ! It as to be 100% the in line with the main and cid number othwrwie it won't work !
The only thing you can do at the moment is make a request for the nandroid you need (with cid and main version) in the nandroid backup collection thread by matt95 in the general section and keep on searching for a ruu

Hmm i think you are stuck to a custom rom for a while until there is a matching nandroid or ruu available, i don't see them......but you say the phone is bootlooping ?
What has been changed ?
You can get into the bootloader ? If yes , you can flash the boot.img file from the rom again and you can flash the rom itself again .....

Thnx ...I was able to flash the custom rom again...and it booted properly...but still how can i go back to stock?
Well basically you need to find a ruu that matches the main version number, you need one exactly like that one starting with 1.28 or 1.29 or 3.14 then you can return to stock.....
Or you need a nandroid backup matching the cid and main version
I checked htcruu.com but there is no ruu for you, only one with a lower version number (but you can't use that one because downgrading is not possible)
Maybe there is one available on the file factory but i don't have an account there

You have to read the instructions how to, i have never done this method so i know as much as you do about it
But yes you have to do some reboot locking and flashing procedures, that's all i know about it
But backup the sdcard before you start doing the updating because locking and Re-unlocking wipes everything !!!

Maybe the 2.17 version prior to this one because of driver conflict. Or the 3.14.401.27 ?
Seen lately that going directly to hboot 1.39 failed ....
Driver conflict?
Going to any JB RUU from ICS requires flashing the firmware I think.
The 2.17.401 should work, and OTA from there... Might be easier if a little more time consuming.

Yeah what i understood in the thread was that he was on stock 2.17 software and tried to flash to 3.14.401.31 and it didn't work, flashed the .27 ruu and it did work.....so here was a conflict of some kind. Its just a heads up if it doesn't work here. Still don't know exactly .... could also be his pc that was conflicting, but it was a little strange

[Q] Stuck in fastboot! Locked Bootloader! Wich RUU?

Hey,
i was using AndroidRevolution HD 9.7.2 (ICS), for warranty purposes I have to get back to stock now. It's my friends device and it had no nandroid of the stock rom, so i wanted to revert it trough the original RUU. Unfortunately I used the wrong RUU and now i'm stuck in fastboot with locked bootloader. I picked the wrong RUU because I didn't found a matching one, so i used the HTC_Europe_1.29.401.12 ICS RUU.
Htcdev.com is down, so the only way to get it back to stock is through the original RUU, but I don't know which i have to use, can someone help me pls?
Version:
1.29.65.11
CID:
ORANG216
Are you sure your version number is right ? Never seen that number around !
Did you do
Fastboot getvar version-main
I have seen the orange *.**.069 and the 61 but never the 65 !
hi,
yes i used the correct fastboot command.
The version is correct, it's the Orange_Switzerland number: x.xx.65.x, the number is also listed in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1660807
Ah yes you are very right sir, but nonetheless i don't see a ruu for you anywhere .... Maybe your firmware is listed in the collection thread. I check for you now !
Yes its there for you
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1957376
Its the firmware package that will lift your hboot to 1.36. After that you can flash any rom you want !
Edit : sorry you want to go to stock for warranty !
---------- Post added at 07:27 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:18 PM ----------
The only thing i can think of to get you back to stock is like this !
First you flash the firmware to get the hboot to 1.36, then you go here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1975140
You download the 2.17 nandroid backup orange 001 ! Restore it completely and flash back the 2.17 stock recovery ..... Then you reboot the phone and go into softwareupdates and check manually for the JB OTA. And install it !
Snap! I forgot to check that thread, thanks a lot. After installing the firmware package, can I install the HTC_Europe JB RUU?
No never.....do as i described in the post above .... that's the only option you have now that i know of !
So flash the CORRECT firmware then you restore the 2.17.65 nandroid backup ! Yes the 2.17 one !!! Then you update to stock JB from orange from within the phones update menu !
hey,
since I had a locked bootloader i couldn't enter the recovery to flash the backup. Today htcdev.com came back online, so I unlocked the bootloader again. Now i wanted to flash the stock_nandroid but there's an 404 error on the 2.17 version. Isn't there a way to go back to stock through a RUU?
You are going to be 1 lucky bastard mate !!! I found a link on the 2.17.65 ruu ! It should work ....link is coming
Ow wait one thing ! Did you update the hboot already ???

CRAP ! now you need the nandroid backup
now you have to wait on the reply matt is getting in the collection thread
But you can flash any JB rom out here now.....so at least that's something
Something had to go wrong
Well, i contacted matt95 from the Nandroid_Backup collection thread and he contacted the uploader.
I hope it will soon be online again. :good:
So the only way now, would be with the JB Orange x.xx.64.x RUU?
Isn't there a way of downgrading the hboot back to 0.95?
no unfortunately not.....sorry mate, and yeah i saw your reply already in the collection thread. it will work out you know....just some more extra patience
Thank you for the help and the quick responses! :good:

Install WorldWide RUU on a HTC One X from China

Hi, I am really sorry to post such a simple and maybe common question, I just CANNOT find a straight answer.
I have a HTC ONE X 32GB (WW version) I got from China.
I checked the version of the Ruu and it says 1.29.708.9 (HK Ruu)
And the bootloader was unlocked, so i locked it.
I want to return to Stock Ruu cause I cannot update the official version.
I have 2 questions:
1. I am from Israel, so when I return to stock RUU, should i install the HK version like the one that WAS on my phone, or a different one??
-Can I install a different Ruu or it will screw my phone?
2. If i update to the HK Ruu which was originally on my phone, will i get a specific update dedicated to the Ruu or a general one from HTC?, I just want it to be "worldwide" and not really blocked to any updates.
Thanks, sorry for the mess.
Hey there... well as a matter of fact any other RUU will NOT work. You have to get the appropriate RUU for your phone depending on where it is from...
This will NOT block any updates, it's just for languages and local stuff specific for that region, but technically it won't be any different from any other One X.
Also there is no international RUU... every phone MUST have a specific region yours is China and that doesn't make it any different or change anything whatsoever.
Edit : Here is the link to the HK Jellybean RUU http://www.androidfiles.org/ruu/sec...Radio_5.1204.162.29_release_299865_signed.exe
Follow the steps on the RUU help threads if you're new to this... This RUU will give you the latest major update. Any other official updates should roll out to you as long as you have the official recovery. If you want the WWE you can get a custom ROM that has it but I doubt that you can get it officially. Good luck with this
I hope I helped
Hi, if you are in ICS, go to stock .
Means you need to restore a stock nandroid back up and its boot img . Then flash stock recovery, and last re lock bootloader. Why? To get official ota manually.

I'm not quite sure what is the Rom i am currently using, it looks like a stock rom that China folks changed to fit in their stupid little programs.
Why do I need to do all that stuff you said?, can't i just install the stock rom like Waseem said?
If your hox is jellybean , yes, there some roms stock look, also i can make you one with no modifications or tweaks...but....if your firmware is ICS, you need to update, and for that i recommend you to update via ota.

Hey I appreciate it, but I simply want to make my HOX fresh and clean from bull that was installed by Chinese folks and get a stock rom that updates by itself.
I downloaded Waseems RUU which he said was the latest for my version of HOX.
I already made my bootloader "Relocked" because it said to do so on some guide.
Now, Do i need to flash stock recovery? or just install the RUU?
Sorry i'm a bid confused.
This is my machine:
Android 4.0.3
Software #: 1.29.708.9
HTC SDK API LEVEL: HTCExtension_403_1_GA_7
Please give me some quick advise, this shouldn't be too hard, but it messes with my head.
Also, do I need to make some sort of cleaning to my phone before installing the RUU?, or the RUU installations does it by itself?
You need ICS latest ruu for our firmware. Cant install JB over ICS.

What is JB?
I have the latest RUU which Waseem posted earlier. But do I need to install dtock recovery for it? Or somehow clean my device before installing the RUU?

What he means is that you can NOT install a 3.14 based ruu, you need to install a 1.29 or a 2.17 ruu. The hboot difference is to big !
Edit :
Download this one
http://bugsylawson.com/index.php/fi...89-radio-1120410414-release-259897-signedexe/
Relock the bootloader if its unlocked and execute the ruu with admin rights. This will bring the phone to full factory stock. Note that it will wipe EVERYTHING !
After the ruu you reboot and do all the official ota's you can get....
Holy cow.. now I get it. The Ruu Waseen gave me is jellybean (jb) .
Ok cool thanks.
But still. How do I determine if i need to install stock recovery before installing ICS stock ruu?

Hey sorry I thought you had the JB Hboot... here is the 1.29 RUU for HK http://www.androidfiles.org/ruu/sec...Radio_2.1204.122.17_release_268338_signed.exe
flash it and it should restore the stock ICS software to your HOX. then go to Settings > About > Software updates and you should then get the official JB update which will update your Hboot, Radio and ROM to the JB base 3.x
I forgot if you have to flash the stock recovey and re-lock before flashing stock RUU but I don't think you do. I guess if you flash the RUU it should relock your phone and flash stock recovery and boot.img by itself But please to be safe just make sure this is true.
A ruu does not lock the bootloader, you have to do that yourself. The only thing a ruu does is flash back the stock recovery, boot.img and software.
You relock the bootloader in fastboot mode
Fastboot oem lock
Keep the phone in the bootloader and right click on the ruu and select
Run as administrator
Edit....the first ota you will get is the ics 2.17 software, then you will get a small update and after that you get the 3.14 jellybean update. You do not get the jellybean instantly.....

I cannot open the RUU file you told me to download (the installer).
I had that problem on my other PC and then downloaded JAVA and it worked.
On this laptop I downloaded java, and it still doesn't load the installer.
It opens a COMMAND windows, and closes it. nothing happens.
I run it as admin and verything.

Like this ? (i'm Sorry i m too Slow)
and i did a Big mistake... i think i Bricked the Device......
Mistakenly i touched on "Format Data" instead of "Factory Reset" on TWRP 2.7.0.2... and then i tried to Flash MaximusHD 5.0.1 ROM... now everytime i touch on reboot, phone comes on on boot loader.... Did i do something wrong with partition ? what should i do ?
As i suspected. In your first post you wrote your hboot was 3.19.....but it's 3.16 and therefore way too low for the latest roms.
You need to update the firmware first, then TWRP to the latest one and then flash one of the latest MM roms.
What was your cid before you changed it to supercid ?
And no you didn't brick it. This is just a software issue. A brick is when the phone won't go the bootloader or recovery anymore.

Old cid should be a sprint one and software number is somewhat like 1.54.654.x
I would suggest to get back to a stock rom + recovery and then update the phones software + firmware via official ota.
Let's see if there is a backup available.
Edit :
I don't know much about sprint devices so check in the specific sprint section for a suited backup. The 1.54.654.x
Here you can find very detailed instructions on how to restore a backup successfully !

Edited my post above. Your supercid should not interfere with ota updates at all. More important is to get a pure stock backup. Or a RUU ..... hold on, a ruu would be an option too but it wipes the ENTIRE phone !
Edit : are you using it on sprint network ?
http://androidruu.com/getdownload.p..._NV_SPCS_1.52_003_release_418492_signed_2.exe
Here is a ruu that would suit your device. Put the phone in the bootloader/fastboot usb menu and execute the RUU.exe with admin rights from the pc (windows, usb 2.0 port connection) it will flash the phone to full stock.
When the ruu is successful you can flash the latest TWRP and flash the skydragon rom

You can't flash the latest roms NOT because of your CID but because the firmware is outdated ! And as far as i can tell about your MID is that it's a sprint device.
You can only flash old kitkat roms at this time.
Maybe @redpoint73 can chip in .......

my Htc one M8 has Stock 4.4.4 kitkat and
i have HBoot Version- 3.190.0000
and radio- 1.09.20.0119
and TWRP Recovery version- V2.7.0.2 (Older bcoz New recovery not working)
Q.1 - i want to install SkyDragon 6.0 Marshmallow Sense 7 based Rom.. Do i Need or I have to install Stock 5.0.1 before flash 6.0 marshmallow ?
A. You only need to flash the firmware from Stock 5.0.1.
Go to the link below and flash this:
4.25.651.18 Full Firmware from RUU (fastboot flashable)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2729173
This will also update your hboot to 3.19 so no need to answer Q.2.
Now, flash the latest TWRP, then go flash your favorite "SkyDragon 6.0 Marshmallow Sense 7 based Rom" by following the Dev's instructions on its OP.
All done.
Q.2- Do i need to update HBoot version ?
A. Answered Above.
Q.3- Do i need to update TWRP Recovery ?
A. Yes, flash the latest TWRP because the stock firmware you flashed has already replaced your custom recovery with a stock recovery. Obviously, you can't flash any custom ROM from Stock recovery.

Note: To go back to stock HTC:
Flash the stock RUU from here (follow the instructions in OP):

I agree, its the Sprint version according to the Model ID. I also agree with the above posts, that RUU is the best way to update the firmware.
But be aware that firmware is not the only potential pitfall on the Sprint version. Custom ROM support for the Sprint version is a little tricky due to kernel differences (with most other versions of the M8). You either need to stick to ROMs that explicitly state they support Sprint; or you may also be able to flash the proper kernel to make the ROM work. As-is (without modifying the kernel) Viper MM will not work on Sprint. I was reading on the ARHD thread, that some Sprint folks got that ROM working with the proper kernel, so the same may be true for Viper. But you should read up and learn more before messing with these ROMs and kernels.
