Well not just 720p but EVERYTHING working.
I was looking at DK's roms the CM10 and CM10 4.2
Are there any others (my used Dinc2 should be arriving in the 28th so i want to get ready to root it, S-OFF, and load some jelly goodness on it.
OR if i should stay on stock for everything to work properly?

If you want everything working you'll have to stay stock. Jelly Bean is great but it will always have a few issues no matter what rom you are on.
Dk cm9 works very well with only a few bugs. Working 720 camera as well.

I have the Incredible HD RLS 2 (ICS 4.0.4 Sense 3.6) ROM if you want it. It real nice and loaded with features. Only problem is that the memory is like maxed out. (cause it pretty much stock) after my first pass through I was able to free up about 60mb. I personally get rid of junk like calander, weather, etc. You can get way smaller apps for these in the app store. After I free up space it ran faster. Me personally... I like to keep mine stock (deodexed of course), debloated, and themed. Mine runs so fast! If you were to go with this I'd recommend a overclocked kernel as well!

What kernel are you suggesting to use for over clocking a sense ROM? I haven't seen anything about custom sense kernels for ICS. If you are referring to using aero's kernels, those are aosp ROMs only.

Cm7.2 is probably safer. I think all ICS and jb ROMs have slight issues at best due to lack of source. MROM is nice. If she doesn't want to deal with occasional reboots and often flakey cameras (some are pretty stable but results vary), I would stay with gingerbread.

DD is subjective. I have used PAC now for a DD. It has some hiccups occasionally but I work through it.
You should read through some of the threads for more details. Not everyone has the same experience. But you may experience lag, random reboots, camera force closes or a need to clear data to make camera work periodically. You will likely have to manually input APN settings, which only has to be done once so no biggie there. You may have no problem at all. For someone who likes tinkering it isn't a big deal to do those things. But if you are looking for a ROM for someone who just wants it to work, and not have to possibly switch due to issues, and who hates resetting everything like a new phone, gingerbread is more stable. All the ICS and JB ROMs use a hacked gingerbread kernel except for sense ROMs using a stock kernel. There is no custom sense kernel for ICS or jb. And there are some nice sense ROMs on gingerbread also, with great features. And because they are what the phone is meant to run they don't really have issues. I know you say you don't want her "stuck" on sense, but she might like it. Take a look at nits sense ROMs, as well as skyraider zues. I have used zues as a fallback for quite some time. Andy bones had some nice mods for it too. Bottom line, if she doesn't mind a few possible issues try a few and see, but if she just wants it to work right, don't mess with her phone just for your sake.
If you do try some, dk's ROMs and chilly's have been good so far. Not perfect but great work considering lack of source. Hope this helps.

We picked the phone up yesterday and I was pleasantly surprised to find it already s-offed and cm7 installed on it. I don't know about the radios on it. Probably won't mess with it since it's for my wife. Thanks for all the help.

I need a Gingerbread/Sense ROM with and emphasis on stability. Close to stock would be best though it isn't paramount. I realize that ROMs are like beers, you get a different opinion on which is best depending on who you ask. The circumstances just don't allow me to try out a whole slew of ROMs.
A good friend's wife has an EVO 4G (I have a Sensation, G2x & HD2) and is having trouble with stability. I suggested we root it and slap a custom ROM on it. While they were over I rooted it and got everything ready to back up and slap a ROM on it. Problem is I am unsure as to what ROM to put on it. Yes, I could try out several ROMs to find one that works but this isn't going to go well at all. The reasons should be obvious for anyone who is married. This is magnified by the fact that I would only have access to the phone maybe once every other week. I need a silver bullet for this one.

I've tried a ton of sense roms, MikG still wins for stability and everything working for me.

Thats the one. I used to use Synergy to but I found it to be a bit slower than MikG and Mik sees more updates.
If you go Synergy RLS1 is the newest version. RC2 is older and was an unofficial release I believe. I never had a problem with the lock screen on Synergy.

1. If she is having a problem with stability on a stock unrooted Evo then she needs to backup her information and just do a factory reset.
2. Trying out several ROMs is required because phones react to various ROMs differently. I can tell you that a certain ROM plays well with my phone but it may not play quite as well with yours. Then comes the issue of kernels. Kernels have a large impact on the phone's stability as well.
3. Tell your friend to do his own homework on how to get her phone up and running or have an affair with her so that you can see her more often and get more opportunities to test ROMs/kernels on her phone.
What version of Sense would you prefer?

The EVO 4G has 2.5 by default I believe. I run the leaked 3.5 on my Sensation and it has some improvements over 2.5 and a couple over 3.0. If there is a very stable and fully functional ROM with 3.x that would be better. Stability and functionality still trump everything else though.
They mentioned that Netflix has to work as they use it often. Skype working properly with video would be good as well.

i agree AOSP Roms are a lot better, smoother, and allow for more customization, that's why the thread i made in my sig is only about them and not about sense based roms. plus whenever an ICS rom comes out it'll be AOSP
Hey guys, im new to all this rooting and rom stuff, so sorry if this is really basic stuff.
I want to root and put a custom rom on my droid inc 2, and I think I understand how to root now.
Now, I'm trying to decide on a ROM to flash after i root. I absolutely hate sense, and think its really clunky. I've been looking at the ICS rom thread, and somewhere between pages 50 and 100 something, people start talking about CM 9 for the inc 2, and all these different developers different roms, and I was thinking, which one is the best?
So, here is what I would like to see in a ROM, to help you reccomend one for me.(listed in order of importance)
-Smoothness
-Good Battery Life.
-CRT Animation. (I know, a little silly, but i want it so badly)
-Ability to customize different aspects without flashing too many files/lots of terminal stuff. e.g. boot animation, status bar colors.
If you know a ROM that fufills most of these requirements of mine that is not ICS, please let me know. Thanks.
Until today,no best,no perfect ics for Inc2.
Many rom is alpha, and beta, even don't have complete drivers for ics.
Miui all the way friend, its very smooth and customization are incredible. No flashing to customize just download to go. I recommend looking at the lock screen page that alone is enough to try it out.

Seeing as this was about a year ago, I assume you found a rom by now. That being said, I will be flashing the IC Tazz rom (sense free version) on my wifes phone tonight. Very stable and everything works. The cm9 and 10 roms have problems with cameras and audio issues. All roms have quirks, but some have more and more severe than others.

I like Calks (2) Roms...Either One and and right now Im runnin Mijjah 74's Goodness at the Moment...Ive run all three... All three Roms work exceptionally Well..
probably Calkulin but...
i agree about the three of those being good bets. i've heard and read the most positive things about Calukin's stuff. It's not uncommon for other ROMs to be based on his work.
That being said, I'm also on Mijjah's Blend ICS (the Goodness). The earlier versions had a few more hiccups (mainly GPS). I'm on ver 2.5.1 and have not ran into any issues yet. GPS, check. Notification sounds, check. Notification LED indicator... oh, OK. 1 minor issue so far.
The test builds of CM9 is working pretty well, battery life is kinda bad though and for some reason it doesn't play audio through my car dock.
Sigh, back to Gingerbread I go...
Depends on your personal preference... If you wish to remain on Touchwiz, try one of the above suggestions.
For AOSP, there's CM9, AOKP, and Codename. All are smooth and filled with customizable options.
Personally, I'm in love with Codename(over General atm)

I don't know of any rom on any phone that works 100%. Even official Samsung releases don't work 100%.
I keep running back to gingerbread. I kept telling myself that I will try ics when its an official release. I get the itch to flash something and always go back to what works. I was running for a day, a rom from someone, but had to Odin back to EL29 because there was something I wanted to do but couldn't because of a snafu. I personally prefer stability over the newest bells and whistles.

Same here. I keep telling myself it would be the same, buggy enough not to be useful as a daily driver, but the flashaholic in me takes over.
So, hours are usually wasted.
Yeah i think ill just update cauks non ics rom for a bit yet and let the bugs play out.
I've been running Agat63's tFCXX series (currently on tFC18 0.1.1) since FC06; they're as smooth as ICS roms get, IMHO. A nice light "frosting" of the AOSP ICS look (courtesy of tiffany84), choice between stock and rogue-repacked (w/ CWM recovery) kernels, otherwise generally fairly close to the "stock" leaks except where Agat can convince himself he's not adding bugs/instability beyond what is naturally going to be in a leaked pre-release with build.prop tweaks, bloatware trimming, and such. Plus he's incredibly responsive to his users' requests and very open to providing them options.
FC06/FC07 was _just_ good enough to be a DD for me (but _barely_). FC15 and now FC18 have been nearly flawless in my experience. Of course, YMMV but I find _very_ little to complain about. Just my experience - the one thing I've learned from reading a LOT in ICS related threads is that everybody's phone behaves a little bit differently, everyone uses their phone a little bit differently, and everyone wants something a little bit different -- my recommendation would be to nandroid and start testing the roms ppl mention in this thread until you find one that works well for you (or decide ICS isn't done enough for you yet and you want to stay on GB a little bit longer).

For tw roms, yes ics is very similar to gb. But there's a world of difference between gb aosp and ics aosp. Like cm7 << cm9. Agreed that there's still bugs to be worked out for any ics roms, but some really good work has been done by our devs without having e4gt ics source released.
OP, if you do try ics roms right now, its a really good idea to be very cautious using any ics recovery. There is a real risk with bricking your phone, especially with aosp roms.

I decided to stop crossing my fingers for an OTA ICS. I have been using skyraider zeus, simply because it seems to be super stable and everything works.
I don't want to install a ROM where i need to "keep in mind" that there are certain things that don't work. For instance, i want the camera to work... i don't want to do work-arounds and hack around with the thing just so i can use it. I don't want dropped calls. I just want it to work 100% like skyraider did.
Are any of the ICS or Jelly bean ROMs at this point yet? If not, what's the latest and most up-to-date ROM that is as good as SRZ?
Loving ParanoidAndroid JB atm, buttery smooth, camera works except for FFC, no other real bugs that I know of. CM9 is also very stable now, or if you like sense, there's a few ROMs out that are pretty much fully functional.

If you want something as rock solid as Zeus you'll need to wait on the 4.x front. Most of the stuff works but it's still not an ideal thing. You may have better luck with one of Nits sense 4 ports. The CM7 ROMs should be fine though.

My wife and I both have DINC2's. I flash all kinds of stuff on mine, and she runs whatever is stable. She ran GingerBang Sense ext4 ever since Nits put it out. It is rock solid! I just recently flashed the new firmware/radio on her's and put her on IC TAZZ. If you want a stable/everything works ICS ROM, then this is it. Trust me, she would let me know if something didn't work. She takes lots of pictures and video, SMS, MMS, etc. No problems.
While many ics and jb roms are very very good, don't use.them if u refuse to deal with any issues or quirks and stick with qb
Ukb v is the most stable ics Rom I've used with everything working fine for me.

So what exactly is still wrong with UKB V. Does UKB X have similar issues?
Does the camera work 100% now? No random reboots?
UKB 2.1

With UKB X 2.1 Camera does not Autofocus when u touch on the screen.. only autofocuses when u shoot.
Camera doesn't stops by itself as seen with UKB V

What Nit said. As of now, every ICS/JB ROM has at least 1 broken feature or instability. I suppose the leaked Chinese OTA may be a feature complete ICS ROM, however you have to live with Sense 3.6. I didn't try that ROM however. The leaked Verizon ROM seems to have some issues on the other hand.

If not, what's the latest and most up-to-date ROM that is as good as SRZ?

honestly Skyraider Zeus isnt that completely stable. yeah sure most the things work but if it was to be 100% stable that would mean no droped calls / dropped service some gsm users experience. at least i experience it. also roms will never truly be 100% there will always be a problem.
one question does anyone know if theres a good stable ics rom capable of gsm?

^.^ That, my friends, is why one should NEVER take things on the Internet for face value. Else, you may have to palm your face later on.. i.e. you have egg on your face. An actual egg on your face.

flash UKB Evolution, then the camera fix, after the first boot of the rom, uncheck record in stereo in camcorder settings, and your good to go. Rock solid
UKB has inverted FFC video, its driving my wife nuts! Then I can never figure out women always looking at themselves
ArcticICSed ROM is what I've been using for the past few weeks and it's been rock-solid. Everything works including the one feature that no other other ROMs I've installed has (exc. TazzICS which is basically a shadow ROM)...that is when sending a MMS message, the system will automatically turn on 3G. Since the Gingerbread update, this functionality has been disabled and you had to turn on 3G manually when sending and receiving a MMS message.
Hello everyone,
I'm new here and new to this scene, but familiar with hacking on other types of devices. My sis just upgraded her phone and gave me a Inc2. My first instinct was to hack it and so I ended up currently with a rooted S-off Inc2. My next issue is what Rom to use. I see so many out there and have had problems trying to install a couple. Since ther are so many, i know theres no clear cut "Latest and Greatest" but as i stand now, i have no clue where i should be looking. So I'm asking what u guys would consider latest and greatess. I'm really looking into going as high up in the OS as possible while also having the best stability with as much working as possible. Any Idea's?

What do you prefer? For ASOP, we have some very stable ICS CM9 ROM's and Stable CM10 Rom's. The CM10 ROMs don't have a working ffc camera or 720p camcorder, but everything else seems to work. For those who like sense, Nit's Sense 4 Viper Rom is quite nice. I typically change ROM's every two weeks, so i have tried quite a lot.
I vote for aeroevans CM10 or if you want ICS then Condemned Soul's Kangdemnation
Vivow using XDA Premium
Viperinc all da way
I'm so fresh you can suck my nits...

Well I'm not sure wether to go ASOP or Sense but from what i gather most ppl prefer ASOP, so I guess i would also. I generally would like to have everything working also.
Another thing thing would be that would i need to flash anything else besides the rom? Like kernels or anything?

Most of the op's have it spelled out exactly what to do , usually they include the kernel in the ROM
Btw : I think any of the still supported ROMs that you will find in the inc2 section are great I can't really quantify a ranking of them

Paranoid Android its a Phone/Tablet hybrid if you don't use the ffc or video that much it is my daily at the moment. "(11-4-2012)(JB)(CM10) Global 4.1.2 (4.2)" and "{10-25-2012}{Rom}{ICS} Official Global CM9" are pretty smooth running roms (I haven't had a chance to give build 3 of CM10 a try yet). "[ROM] [Port] Andromadus Mimicry 1.5 [CM9.1 Stable]" another very good ICS rom and very stable as well. Those are the ones I have been messing with the last couple of months. I think it is all in your tastes amigo. If you are a flashaholic like most of us I am sure you will try most of them.
ViperINC if you don't need BT audio. There are issues with the fact that the beats audio controls the BT audio and there is no output.
