It's not an OTA update. You need download the full ROM and flash in recovery (you can't flash full ROMs using the OTA updater).

[Q] ROM: MIUI-XJ update help

I have been using MIUI-XJ for a short period of time. I got notification that the ROM has an update and I tried to do so using the inbuilt updater. However the update gets blocked by Clockwork Recovery - Signature not verified? What is this issue about? Is there a way to get around it or am I better off not doing the update?
just go into recovery an flash the update manualy. install zip from sd card -choose the update from the downloaded_rom folder. and if he gives the same error just toggle signature verification OFF in recovery and flash again.
hope this helps.
Thank you - will try this out.
It works!!

OTA update ClockworkMod

K here we go,
I've got an HTC One V. ( not the best choice ever I know but it will do for now). Thing is that it has been rooted and I now have a clockworkmod Recovery version 5.8.3.1. Today I got a message saying that there was a system update for my Phone. 2.22.401.1 of 34.55 MB. When I try to install it, it boots into ClockworkMod Recovery. I think I know where the OTA should be: /cache or /partition/cache But I can't find either of them in recovery nor just with filemanager. What am I doing wrong or what should I do?
tnx in advance Maverick ®

Firstly will like to say hi to everyone here since this is my first post and a new user to android!
I have read several threads and all mentioned to have stock recovery to do the update. Doesn't work for me. This is my scenario:
I have a rooted stock rom with CWM. I have flashed the stock recovery and also downloaded root keeper to able to restore my root after performing the OTA. After flashing the stock and backing up of root, I proceeded on to download the OTA update and install it. When the phone starts to reboot, indeed it boot up into the stock recovery for the update. However it just stops around 25% showing a notification icon instead.
I am a developer and an occasional hacker.. I am pretty new to android mods. Greatly appreciate if anyone could shed some light on how I can troubleshoot this issue.. Any logs? any debugging level I can look at to see what went wrong at 25%?
and by the way, i am holding on to a HTC One X
Thanks in advanced!
It stop at 25% or at any time because it cannot find a file it needs to patch.
Only a clean stock ROM should be able to complete an OTA update.

Mine is from a rooted stock rom. I have flashed to a stock recovery before downloading the ota from the device itself. So I consider that an original ota file downloaded?

Cannot update to v45

Good day!
I am having issues with updating to v45 thru updater. I always unroot my phone when I do updates thru the Updater App and encountered no issues before from v35 to v43 up until now.
What happens is that the update can be seen and downloaded but once it applies the update in the CWM, it gives an error message that is in chinse.
Please advise. Many thanks.
Try with TWRP 2.8.0.2 installed.

Hi... I have found the solution. When u try to update from v43. The update file is mere 11 mb.
Instead of this 11 mb... Download full v45 rom and then update. It will work. Ifaced the same issue tried everything but all in vain the i tried this method and fortunately it worked.!

Guess you need to turn off signature verification in recovery (does stock have it)? I will flash my Nexus 7 2013 as well soon and can let you know.
---edit: Just downloaded the OTA file and sideloaded my Nexus 7 2013 without problem. No issue with signature verification (my N7 is all stock though and no root). I just followed the steps above.

thanks mate.
i understood that this method works at least for the majority.
but it doesn't work for me, as i mention everything on my device is stock.
i always did OTA updates (whenever my device got them).
but now i wanted to do a manual try... no luck .
if you or anybody else has a clue to why it's keep failing on my device would be great.
thanks again

So yeah, I updated to a Dev build about a month ago so I could mess around with it. Slightly buggy though (Google keyboard has totally crapped out on me now) so I'm anxiously awaiting the public release.
Is it a simple update affair or have I gotta do a restore?

Nothing, you are just downloading your current ROM.
People on 9.5.6.0 got a bug fixer Update, 9.5.11.0.
Yes I got this and currently using it as 9.5.11.0 basically to me it's just a small update which fixed the camera focus problem in portrait mode.

No. Miui doesn't let you downgrade to lower version via system updater. It will give error.
