Let's say you had a note 2... unlocked. But wanted to leave contract companies and wanted a month to month plan... Where would you go?

To the bank.. For money to cancel my family plan. Lolz. So expensive.
For me, straight talk and Net10(?) are the only prepaid plans that works here.
T-mob doesn't work here.. But if it did, I'd be on it. So cheap.
I'd either go for straight talk (if I wasn't to worried about customer service & speed)
Or go with an ATT go phone plan.
Im in Orlando so my options should be open. ..I am going to leave my contract with att...
So straight talk. .. simple. .. or net 10...

If yours all cool with T-Mobile, they have a web exclusive offer for $30 a month. Its got unlimited texting, 5 gigs of web, and 100 minutes. And if yours worried about going over, you could always use GrooveIP or any of the other many VOIP apps.

How would Google voice work with that. ..Would making calls with Google voice go towards my minutes?

Actual thats incorrect, Google Voice does use your minutes. If you want to use the $30 plan and the Google Voice number for unlimited minutes then you will have to use a VOIP program such as Groove IP or Spare Phone. Both of them require data (WiFi or cell data) for calls to come in or out.
GrooveIP - https://play.google.com/store/apps/...ch_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5ndm9pcCJd
GrooveIP has a free trial app too.
Spare Phone - https://play.google.com/store/apps/...sMSwxLDEsImNvbS5ndWlkb2xvZ3kuc3BhcmVwaG9uZSJd
I called net 10 and they told me they only have 3g...
Is the any prepaid with 4g or lte that will work

Im on $30 monthly unlimited web, txt & 100mln talk. On sgs2 the tutorrial says it would still be counted on the plan. Anybody tries to freeze that counter? Or i will just be happy with skype, google voice, groove ip or same apps available.

wifi calling still counts towards your minutes. Dont think there is a way to stop that since you still go through T-mo network
Why not go with a good VOIP provider?
I pay $1/month for the number and $0.005/min (half a cent) to anywhere in Canada and 1 cent per minute to anywhere in the US. Comes out to about $2-3/month for me.
Some providers even have SMS over SIP. (Anveo)
I think it depends on when you got wifi calling. I had sign up for it over a year ago and that was when it was unlimited. so i'm still getting unlimited minutes which does not count towards my anytime minutes (i have 1000). on the newer sign up of wifi calling, it counts towards your anytime minutes. you should call tmobile to confirm which plan you have.
strange. when I signed up they told me it wouldn't count against my minutes. and I have been using wifi calling for a few months. no added minutes when I did.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda app-developers app
Interesting. I've always thought wifi calling minutes are unlimited (mine are). Maybe it depends on your plan. I'd call Tmobile and ask.

As per tmobile, wifi calling is for deadspot only. Im going voice ip.

You must call tmobile and request free wi-fi calling. They will add it to your plan with no questions asked.

I have a sprint S3, my buddy just got a s3 and is on Tmobile while showing him some stuff on his phone I noticed they have a setting for wifi calling in there settings.. It allows him to use his data connection to receive and make calls when he has low cellular signal. I can't find this anywhere on the sprint version. This would be extremely helpful at work when I have no signal.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda premium
That is only natively available on T-mobile phones. I wish it was available for us too, that would be cool.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
Would it be possible to port it? Or is there an app that would do the same thing?
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda premium
I've never done it, but there's a way to do it with a combination of Google Voice and a VOIP app.
As far as porting it, I'm not a device so I wouldn't know. I think it has more to do with how t-mobile handles it rather than something that's actually on the phone.

Only app I know of that would be useful here is groove ip. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.snrblabs.grooveip&hl=en
Ok if i have the sprint integration of Google voice on my phone? and i download Groove i should be able to use my cell number over wifi?
*on a side note what is the advantages of google voice with sprint integration?
I feel like I saw that feature on ICS and then it went away in JB.
Whats the benefit

The Google search turns up a lot of old and incorrect info. Basically tmobile's wifi calling will allow your phone to work in conditions where there is good wifi signal available but otherwise poor/reduced/no voice signal.
It will count against your voice minutes.
Calls can be made and received in the usual way, it is transparent to you and to the calling party.
Appears to require a tmobile sim, no straight Talk, go smart, etc.

Are you on the original tmobile rom? Are you rooted? I would appreciate your help. I have purchased foxfi/pdanet and I still get a tmobile tether message... I'm also rooted and froze tethering manager.
I was under the impression that plans have 500MB free but once you go over that amount T-Mobile will start charging you... Like $10 per GB.
Im pretty sure they cut it off if you go over, but tether usage doesn't show any tether being used, I have jedi master 12, I always use Google Chrome on my laptop.

Don't mean squat. I have used over 12.1 mb and can't teather on my plan, yet shows on my account page.
It's obvious a glitch as their myaccount app sucks arse!
Tried connecting and won't let me, unless I change my plan.

I would just like to chime in here. I'm on the $60 month to month plan with 2gb of data at 4g speeds. Right before i just paid for my minutes were to be reloaded this month, i got a text saying that the $60 plan would go from 2gb's of data to 2.5gb's of data. Also the stock hotspot app would also work. So after i refilled my account on Friday, i was messing with the hotspot app and sure enough the native hotspot app is working like a charm. Has anyone else notice the upgrade? I'm guessing that there is no longer a need to use 3rd party tethering apps. I could be wrong though.

So op, how are you able to tether on the Unlimited everything plan? From what you said, I am assuming you are using Tmobile tether (not root) and they dont seem to offer any tethering on their unlimited (data) plan - ??
