Sorry if this may sound noob. I have the 16GB version Note 2 n the only reason why I want to root is because of the limited internal storage. I'm not able to install more apps/games. Can anyone advise on the pros n cons of rooting? Is it easy to unroot and remove all traces of root? I think I'm like many others who r afraid of warranty being voided.

Hi, rooting is not dangerous you can just reset counter and flashback the stock firmware, rooting will allow you to use a much more powerful programs if you would like to get more space, just root install cwm and flash the redpill kernel then use stweaks tweak to make ur external sdcard an internal sdcard if you want to root just follow my instruction, link below

Rooting-For new members here of XDA Galaxy Y Sub-Forums, Rooting is the Basic Mod we do on our Galaxy Y,Since we bought our Galaxy Y at Samsung stores so it comes with limitations to prevent messing up with your System-level files so the Root method is the answer so you will be the true master of your Galaxy Y.
Advantages &Disadvantages of Rooting
Advantages
-You're already the true master of your Galaxy Y.
-You can now use some Root apps from Play Store.
-You can modify now your Galaxy Y like Custom ROM's,Custom Boot Animations etc. that requires ROOT.
Disadvantages
-Your phone's warranty is already voided,It means that if you messed with your System files ,Then the phone manufacturer will reject your phone as it is rooted already,However you can UnRoot your phone if you have problems regarding the buttons etc.
-You can't use some of their Services that comes with your phone.
Just Google "How to Root Galaxy Y" then follow the directions so you can obtain now root access.
use search button and you will get information faster than waiting someone to answer. don't be lazy.
Ty for answer Sean De Jesus.. I heard for temporary root.. Is it exist? If I root phone, should I install custom rom or can only root? Would I got all settings like custom rom? What if something goes wrong? If they wont turn off or something..? I need more info..

Temporary Root will root your device but once you restarted or turned off your phone,Its gone. Its a good step for new phones to test if root is working fine on that device.
It depends on your mood or your knowledge about modding your Galaxy Y,If sonething goes wrong with your Custom ROM then flash back to your Stock ROM or if you have a backup called "Nandroid backup" you can restore it using Skin's CWM.
rooting is just made in order for you to be able to have admin privileges on your phone so that you can by-pass system restrictions
no need to worry, you can always unroot your phone
using the unroot.zip
ps: it's just piled down due to post like this, use the search button to find it
Pls search before posting..

Hello,
I have ARC S 4.0.3 ICS
and I just rooted it, so can I un-root the device and the warranty comes back ?
I didn't did any other modifing for the device other than rooting the device
and how to un-root ?
(the ARC S sucks because of the ICS bugs(crashes) and the small internal memory, moving apps to sd even with root doesn't solve the small internal problems)
thanks!
Just rooting your phone doesn't void your warranty. Unlocking your bootloader voids your warranty.
And I suggest you upgrade to the 4.0.4 ICS for the Arc S. It gives a much better experience.
About your internal memory programs, have you tried Link2SD? Do try it out. It works wonders. For your convenience, I've attached a link to a guide by XperiaBlog detailing the steps you need to follow.
http://www.xperiablog.net/2011/12/12/link2sd-guide-never-worry-about-internal-memory-limits-again/
your warranty will only void if you unlock bootloader .
Hi
thanks for ur helpful reply
give me link how to upgrade to ics 4.0.4
and is it an official upgrade or beta or custom rom ?
cause I need arabic language support like my orginal 4.0.3 ICS does!
thanks alot mate !
Warranty will void only if unlocking bootloader. Rooting not void warranty.
Here you can learn how to upgrade to ICS
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1330314
Here you can search for custom rom, so far JJHybrid and MooDeD rom are good for me.

I used the method posted in this thread...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1034087
And i have a issue on my phone, don't know if i miss any step while rooting it...
I can install apps with superuser access granted, but, for example, i can't mod my phone... I have already tried to change some files with RootExplorer to change things like status bar, but i reboot my phone and it's everything the same...
If i trie to copy any file to phone memory, it sais "file successeful copied", but the file does not appears to be there... :s

I wont help you because of this retarded font size and bold that you've used to... hell I don't even know why you've formatted your post like that.
Hey, I have htc wildfire s with s-on running on 2.3.5....
I want to root it to use applications that require a root..
I want to know is it possible to increase internal memory or use sd card partition to utilise as an internal mamory? If yes, then how to do it?
and I want a simple root... means no upgrading for 4.0 ICS is required for me.
I am a new to rooting.. so please explain me in simple way..
I dont understand the bootloader and clockmode recovery like words..
Please help me..
To be honest, if you don't understand the bootloader etc you may be better off leaving the phone alone, as you need to modify it to achieve rooting of the device.
This section is full of well written tutorials that are easy to follow.
Just use search function for how to root your wildfire s.
Look at the link below, it has a bit of advise and some links to look at.

Thanks for reply... but can i do the partition? and can i install all applications if I partitioned sd card of 1 gb for Internal Memory..??
Simple answer is no, there are a few apps that will move apps to the SD card (some apps cannot be moved though)
This is one reason why people root the device....to free up memory and remove unwanted service provider apps etc.
It is a fairly simple process, take the plunge and root the device.

hey... first try to search for the post.... this question hase been asked a lot of times... and post in correct section.....
BTW... you can root your device easily... it is just simple... and you can increase your internal memory by creating a ext partition in your memory card (data2sd)..
1. To unlock your Bootloader http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1432199
2. To Root your Device http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1195275
Then if you love the stock rom... there is lot of Custom Sense Rom available... You can choose one of them... I prefer the following three...
Wildchild v2.0http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1652973AlaaDragonfire_Rom v2.0http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1773156HenseMod 7http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1434497
3. Then to increase internal memory first create a EXT2 partition on your memory card http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1432459 Follow the first 20 Steps... then use the Data2SD Zip to flash from recovery.... See the attachment..

hey guys im new 2 android community... ive a galaxy note 2 GT-N7100 International version bought in India. Recently ive been thinkin 2 root my device for various mods like copyin/ installing games on memory card etc... so i wanna know wat software should i use 2 mod my device?? Also i wanna know if its safe??? Ive heard that rooted devices leads to void of warranty... is that true???
thanks in advance....
You should use the wonderful Note2 ToolKit, found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1923956
Yes, rooting it voids your warranty. But you can flash back a stock ROM and unroot if you need to take your phone in for service.
All modifications have risks. Though rooting probably won't break your phone, an user error on your part just might, or malicious code might. You can never know that! You have to be careful and use your best judgment. Rooting is basically like logging in to a computer with an administrator account, you can change all the system settings and as a result you can really screw up your system if you are not careful.
I'm just saying all that to clarify that if you do root your device and mod it, have an accident and screw something up, it's your own fault. You need to always keep that in mind.
When you download the toolkit, the first thing you need to do is:
1) EFS backup
2) Full Nandroid backup
Do those two things first, then do whatever you want. If you have EFS and Nandroid backups you have a safety net in case something goes wrong later on.
Also: read, read, read. Read every single Note II guide and FAQ you can find here on XDA.

Well u should first install adb on ur pc and Asus drivers as these are the most important things which will help u do other stuff.... So install these first on your pc...
Then you might want to root ur device...for that u have 3 methods... You can choose any of them if u ask me which method is easiest and fast i would recommend 1 click root tool (method 3) as u dont have to download huge stuff, u dont need a lot of knowledge and the most important you can apply via OTA without un-rooting ur device....
You might want to change/modify system after rooting... you can do it but dont delete bloatware/system app just freeze them as removing them causes bootloop while updating...so keep this in mind... For modifying you can also install Xposed framework and install "Fix lollipop memory leak" as it fixed android lollipop 5.0 memory leak bug... Then for extended battery life u can install greenify and for sound mod u can install Viper4android...
Here for all of this and other stuff visit this thread u will find everything there...just read it carefully

Stupid question, but what can I do once rooted? I like method 3 since it will still get OTA updates. I've always kept my android devices stock but I'm open to rooting, if there's a benefit.
Thanks for the info, I will do more reading.
