Okay so I just got my gn from amazon and I was wondering if there is any way to get insurance for this device. I'm coming from a tmo gs2 and I accidentally dropped it less than 2 weeks of owning it n it got a few dents around the edges. With that in mind I can't stop thinking about a bunch of "what if's" that might happen. Lol I love everything about this phone but I don't want to end up damaging this phone too cuz we all know **** happens.lol I'm already going to buy a case. But screens can still get cracked if it lands a certain way. Not only that. What if the phone malfunctions .would I be able to atleast send for repairs even if I can't get insurance? hopefully I didn't make a bad decision. Or would it be better if i just got the verizon one instead. At first i would've gotten the verizon one but cancelling my contract with tmo, paying the deposit fee and then buying the phone was turning out to be more expensive than just buying the gsm phone. But at the end of the day if I do have issues with this one I have now. That would be money down the drain instead of being able to get it replaced if I were with Verizon...right? Thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide.

Your options are go without any insurance, get phone insurance or do what I did, put it on my home insurance
Damn I just realized I posted in the wrong section. Smh
I forgot to mention. I live in the US and I have t mobile. From the little help i have gotten from searches online about the insurance. I'm getting the vibe that since the phone is not released out here I have no way to get insurance? Which leads me to the other question I had, if there's a way to send for repairs if the phone breaks.

I am also with TMobile and because you didn't get the phone from them the insurance they offer will not apply. Not sure about the homeowners insurance, worth a phone call to your agent but usually the deductibles on H/O is $500+ so that's kind of a wash.
I purchased my phone from Expansys and according to them if there is a problem (warranty) they will support what the manufacturer offers.
Good luck and be careful.

Hey. Thanks a lot for the info. I went ahead n checked thru ur threads and found it. I contacted ensquared through a message asking if they covered the galaxy nexus GSM model and they called me back in less than 10 minutes and the person over the phone told me they do insure it and it doesn't matter what carrier I have or if the phone is unlocked. I asked twice to make sure cuz it sounded to good to be true n he confirmed that they do cover the phone. I feel so much better now. Thanks again

I'm going to give them a call now myself. It was never really resolved in the other thread mentioned although I think the two should be merged for informational purposes.

You should be able to get it covered through squaretrade. It'll cost you probably around $100 or so but I've heard good things about their service.
squaretrade will NOT cover this phone. It says so in the fine print on their website and a user here found out the hard way.
To the OP - glad I could help!

I bought it around a month ago and it keeps getting random reboots
Do you think they will exchange it?

you'll most likely have a refurb shipped out to you they won't straight up replace it for a new one... if you wanna switch for another phone you passed your 14 day window

refurb isnt necessarily a bad thing... refurbs go thru a LOT more testing than a new unit to ensure usability and stability... new phones you have more chances to get a bad device... id say take the refurb because it holds your original warranty....

crap thats GSM only, I need vzw.
If you can, you can always open a new line and buy one on contract. Its about $199 + plan + $10 for extra line. Or find one on craigslist with a CLEAN ESN. Make sure its clean and can be activated.

thought about that, but at 350 for ETF and 200 for new line...$550

I shot a wedding Friday... and thinking back I knew I had to have left / lost it at the church... left a message and they called today... woot!
I changed this into a my progress thread. I have verizon and insurance.
I tested everything on the phone over a 24hr period. And here is progress.
Still using phone 2 as of now.
Phone 1 - random reboots.
Phone 2 - proximity sensor failure, vertical banding
Phone 3 - 2-3 screen purple, loses full signal and data then comes back. Few times a day. Basically like a ping out. Timeout. Whatever.
Phone 4 - coming tomorrow 8-15 maybe this one will be good!
Phone four is good so far! No data drops. Good screen. Korean model.

okay so i have verizon, i went back stock to warranty my phone locked it back up and everything, called verizon and they are sending a refurb to my house overnight.
question is, i'm ocd about my phones, they say its a refurb and they don't know if its been used and has gone over a 100 point inspection. but has the screen ever been touched and such? scratched etc.??
im sending back because i have issues with proximity sensor in the phone and defect screen.
this is going to be my third replacement, my second however i did within the 14 days of buying the phone so they gave me a new one off the shelf.

I've had 14 replacements. I've had only one that didn't look brand new and that was due to the protectors shifting when it shipped. They are pristine when you get them.

I got my phone replaced once for screen ghosting. I'm almost certain this "refurb" is BRAND NEW. They even re-apply the oliophobic coat. I'm very pleased with Verizons return department and I'm pretty sure the lemons people got weren't verizons fault.

whats this coat your talking about?
my first replacement was within the 14 day period, my phone was randomly rebooting every day.
this is going to be my third nexus, this time proximity sensor doesn't function even after recalibration and such.
i'm just worried that i'm going to get a phone worse off then my current. since there are so many bad ones out there, and i've heard of horror stories of refurb nexus's on youtube and such.
I would trust a refurb from Verizon over a new unit. They're all tested thoroughly and any parts replaced are new...
You would think that however there are tons of people who go through more then four replacements trying to get a good one from Verizon. There are videos of un boxing and having issues from first power on.

when one reports to Verizon about a fault in the phone and they send you a refurb/recertified phone, do I send them my current phone first or I can just sit on it and ask for a replacement and just walk to a verizon store and return there?

You have 5 days or so to ship the faulty phone back upon receiving your new phone. They pay for the shipping both ways. If it is faulty just tell them you have already wiped data etc....battery pull blah blah blah so they don't make u do it and you aren't tied up on the phone. So glad I pay the $6.99 for TEC from asurion on both my lines. This process the few times I have had to do it is relatively painless.

90% of warranty exchanges are garbage.
So, I saw a girl write on Facebook that she is selling a T Mobile Galaxy S3. So I inboxed her and ask how much she wanted. She told me to make an offer, so I said I wouldn't pay any more than $300. Then she asked me would I pay $220? I told her yes!!!! Says its brand new used since June comes with box booklets etc and flawless condition! Did I just hit jackpot? Is the phone worth it? Anything I should "lookout" for? I'm a galaxy nexus owner by the way guys!!!

Hopefully she isnt scamming you by selling her phone, reporting it stolen, having TMo blackball your phone rendering it useless, using insurance to replace her 'stolen' phone and pocketing the leftover cash.
Other than that you did good!

Ask her for the IMEI number so you can verify everything is in order with TMo, if she still has it. Than call TMo and ask them to tell you if everything is good with that phone, and have them document it in your account that you called.

Since you told her they are going for 300(which is really cheap to start with for a s3) and she offered you 220 for it, seems too good to be true.
But if everything checks out OK with the imei then yes you scored big time.
But make sure you get pictures over the device. I've ran into so many scams on Craigslist that it wouldn't surprise me if they migrated to Facebook.
My advice, proceed with caution
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2
Either she's pulling a fast one in you if she's beyond stupid. You offered $300 but she only wants $220? What? Like everyone else said, verify the IMEI before you give her a single cent.

How do you verify the IMEI?
Does she lives near you? If so meet at T-Mobile and transfer the phone to your account on the spot.

I appreciate the replies guys. Honestly I think shes just a clueless teenage girl that has no idea how much its worth. Notice her spelling. She's about 18 years old I'm sure, and she's just switching carriers, I really doubt there's any fishy stuff going on, but I will see if she meets me at the T-Mobile store in our local mall. I don't wanna go there and have the people say something like "your selling it for only 220, that's unfair!" And blow everything up in my face :/ I wont be using the phone as my daily driver but I will switch from galaxy nexus to s3 every few days ^_^
