So this is extremely weird. About a week ago i flashed the most recent miui.us from rom manager. last night i went to sleep with it on charge and when i woke up and pressed the power button to see the time.... the camera flashed but the screen didnt come on
Ive pulled the batter and tried to turn it on: same thing
ive tried to boot into recovery: same thing
ive tried to use the gnex toolkit 10.1: its not recognized
so what im trying to figure out, because ive looked all through the toolkit... is there a way to flash an unresponsive gnex (or) have any of you guys heard of this issue before
Verizon Galaxy Nexus
This is a very strange issue.
Have you tried booting the phone into download (Odin) mode?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
did someone or you install an anti theft app onto your device? one that takes pictures of the thief if they try using the device..
I feel like I have tried everything but the odin program, my does absolutely nothing besides flash no matter what button combination I try.
and no I have not installed that app... i actually wasnt aware that it existed!
I just really do NOT want to send it to Samsung. This was actually a warranty replacement I received about a month ago. I flashed MIUI the day i got it and it was acting fine the whole time until I woke up and it was doing this
So ODIN it, you need ODIN for your PC and the recovery files for your GalNex. That should fix you right up, I wouldn't want to send it to Samsung either, they'd try to charge you regardless of warranty.

I try to do the root process using Odin -- which i was able to do until i realize i lost service. so I flashed it back using the stock rom which was fine...then I tried again -- that's when my n00bness took over...
- I loaded the PIT file (even though some videos says it doesn't need it) but that caused the repartition checkbox in Odin to be checked
- I clicked start without realizing the box was checked
- When I saw what happened, i panicked and disconnected the cable and pulled the battery
- Now, i can't power the phone up or get it into download mode
- I tried all the key combinations -- Vdown+home+power, Vup+Vdown+power+insert battery...
Nothing... am I screwed?

OP where'd you purchase you're phone? Bricked mine last Sunday night. Mailed it back to Wirefly on Monday and got my new one today. All I could get was a blue light on trying to power on, no matter the button combination.

Try holding volume up then hold the power button. Holds them both until you see the stock recovery screen and factory reset the phone.
Hopefully that will work.

Yeah, just take your time with Odin. It can save your arse once we have a full stock ROM tar to flash. Once we have that, if the phone boots to download mode, most anything can be fixed

Might have been better off letting if flash as repartition than pulling the cord while flashing, that will get you a brick every time.

I had the EXACT some problem last week. I went to the repair center, said the phone was plugged in at work, we had a power surge, and afterwords the phone wouldn't turn on. An hour later...BOOM, new phone
I then went on amazon and purchased a usb jig and kept my phone stock until it came. lol
Every rooted owner should spend the 2 bucks on a USB jig. It's not the holy grail, but it's one more tool in your belt to potentially get out of a frustrating and time consuming situation.
I bought mine from here and got it pretty quickly considering where it came from ...

I forgot to mention letting it sit when I mentioned this to someone else (or was it here?) about pulling battery and SD card. Also repeatedly press or hold power button with those out to purge any remaining juice in the phone. This stuff sounds crazy but ask any former OG Epic owner.. some of these tricks have brought phones back from the dead. There isn't a pinhole under the battery cover below the camera is there?
That last part was an OG Epic inside joke but the rest is worth trying

Yes, It was my nephew's s3. He was blindly flashed it, now He asked me to help him, and I am asking any one in here know how to get it power up and into download mode.
I think that flashing the wrong radio version could fry the whole thing dead permanently.
However, if you can get ADB to recognize the device you may be able to get it working. See if you can get adb to recognize the device at all, if you can there may be hope.

Sorry many that have flashed international have been hard bricked if they can't return on. Mskip has a toolkit but if it won't turn on then it's hard to flash though.

Does any screen come up? If it's hard bricked, just bring it to the store, and show them. They'll probably try a new battery, and if they can't boot it up, then they may replace it.
Worst case, they say they won't replace it cause you messed with it, and you're back where you started.

Cause the USB dongle will put you straight to download mode. From there you can flash the proper ROM.
Anyway, if you can't get in to download mode, can't boot up to anything, and especially if ADB can't find your phone, then you might have just gotten yourself a very expensive paperweight.

I did the same thing, quit wasting time, you need a Jtag service period, if you can't get into download mode, Odin and Adb IS NOT going to work. It will not see the device. Go into device manager, if you see this QHSUSB DLOAD, you are seriously bricked, only Jtag can help it. The usbjig will NOT work with this issue, I have tried.

I bricked mine last week. I then lost it too...insurance sent me a new one.
All,
I am a 3rd party and was given a phone to try and fix. I've tried OMAPflash & SDK without any luck. I was told the person did an OTA and something about a bootloader and could have potentially dropped the phone. I was told they stated the phone wouldn't charge and then died and didn't turn back on; we've tried another battery with no luck. The phone does not power on or respond to any button combinations, but when plugged into a computer; it fails to recognize the device...even with drivers installed; so the computer can see it, it just won't load the drivers. I don't want to spend tons of money fixing a phone that isn't mine but does anyone know if a USB Jig works on a phone that's hard bricked to the point where it has no power? No fastboot or adb, neither read the phone. tried multiple computers.
My last resort is this USB Jig. Also, no warranty from sammy. I feel like i've tried everything.
Thank You in advance.
I used a jig to recover a friend's S3 after he flashed an international S3 ROM and it wouldn't boot or do anything so I suppose it could work.

Did you do this [OMAPflash] without battery? Also note that it's normal for the computer to beep repeatedly (usb connected usb disconnected...) until you start the flashing program.
Did you see OMAP in the device manager at all?

I was on my T-mobile Galaxy S3 today when all of a sudden it turned off. It's now stuck in a boot loop and nothing I try does anything. I'm running Carbon custom rom 4.3 and I tried wiping my cache through clockwork and eventually tried factory resetting through clockwork but it always shuts off before I can choose anything. I talked to a Samsung customer service representative and they suggested I send in my phone. The only thing is that I'm rooted and running a custom rom, so I'm worried they're just going to say I'm screwed and that they won't replace it even though Sudden Death Syndrome happens to tons of people running stock and who are not rooted. Any suggestions?
