hi all
i have a droid incredible 2, rooted with cm9, i am now in europe in vacation but after i rooted it it doesn't read gsm sim cards anymore!!
i tried the cm10 and still it doesn't even recognize it!
i tried to use several other cm9 roms (cm9 OFFICIAL GLOBAL, cm9 Unofficial but none of them detected the sim) . i tried a miui, incredible_2_HD, and god knows whatelse (...yes, spent lots of time here) , they did recognize the sim but just kept endlessly rebooting my inc2 after showing the home screen!!!
1) do those non-cm9 roms need aeroevans kernel and googleapps installed too?
the cm9s up are more stable, so i tried the build 4 for cm10 cause it mentioned it worked with GSM networks. no luck, i get data through wifi but it doesn't even see i have a sim card in there!!
oh, and if i recover the original verizon's OS it just keeps rebooting as soon as it hits the home screen...endlessly!!!!!
any idea why that happens!?
so...there is any way i can use a gsm simcard in any rom on my incredible 2?!!?!
thanks
I am curious too... I bought this phone to unlock and it doesn't recognize there is a sim card in the phone at all... It would see the reader isn't reading... I believe it's stock but I haven't even played with it. It needed a new usb port so I fixed it and got the unlock code from verizon. I have successfully unlocked two other phones so I'm not sure what could be the problem... Never had one not see the sim
Edit... Still doesnt see tge sim but successfully unlocked it

Hello Everyone
I have a very odd problem on my Xperia S device and this problem is not only limited to my device but is also for all other Xperia S devices that I have tried or used in my area!!!
The problem is related to the WiFi (the phone does not connect to any network and does not even detect any network)
after going back and forth with this problem I discovered that it is related to the GSM providers in my country Syria (both providers MTN or Syriatel) If I remove the SIM card everything works fine (My phone detects WiFi networks and is able to connect to any of them) so basically the problem is related to frequency matters (I guess).
I found one work around only: if I switch the WiFi off - reboot the phone - wait till the phone finishs booting and detecting the GSM network - then switch the WiFi on. This work around worked for me so far WiFi works completely fine after doing so even with the SIM card inserted but this only works for the official stock ROMs or modified ROMs based on the stock ones (If I try cyanogen based ROMs there is no way that I could find to make it work, I also tried the leaked official JB ROM 6.2.B.0.197 from DooMLoRD (BTW you are the best) and it did not work also whatever I try till I remove the SIM card and boot the phone without GSM.
Anyone can give me any hint or help about this annoying matter?? Thanks in advance.
PS: My phone is unlocked rooted and using stock 6.1.A.2.55 ROM with Advanced Stock Kernel v17
PS2: the problem as I said before exists in every Xperia S phone I tried is this area (whether are Lock or Unlocked, Rooted or NOT) and I tried about 7 or 8 devices so far, so it is not limited only to my device.

I did try and did not work + I tried it on several wireless routers same problem, that's why my guess it is related to frequency conflict between WiFi adapter and GSM SIM cards
anyways thanks for your help
I tried to look on google and i Just can't find nothing.
ps. I am currently in Europe so I can try different sims easily that is why I am looking for solution.
This is regarding GSM European sims.
This phone was unlocked by VZW about 2 years ago now I got the phone as a gift for someone , I tried all roms.
JellyBean
CM7 which works super amazing fast on this phone.
and Andybones Stock to retain root.
- Andybones asks to switch to global mode when sim is in there
-- after swithing to global nothing happens
-- same on cm7 or jellybean.
i tried multiple sims, all sims have at least bars showing that they have service.
With different phones they work just fine.
- What can I try to get this phone to work with European sims again?
this is for someone who is still using old nokia 3310.. that is why I am doing my best to fix the sim problem.
Thank you,
I will post a video soon to show you guys.
UPDATE: as I wrote this the phone showed Era (former TMobile Poland) I was so shocked! after the phone was for around 15 hours turned on. Now I reeboted it to see if it fixed it self.. baseband is unkown. So I will be reflashing CM7 nightly or then try stable.
Should I flash different radio? please advise.
bump**
so I found a temporary solution.
Signal does work etc.. but on a reeboot it dies.. only way to bring it back is to wipe cache in CWM.
Hi Guys.
I have searched for this issue but cannot find anything specific to my case.
I have a rooted HTC Desire running InsertCoin and recently changed my phone network (new SIM) to Sure a relativity new phone network in Jersey (Cable and Wireless). When the SIM was first put in the phone connected to network but would not send SMS (error straight away). I checked the APN list and this was blank. I got the APN settings from the website and tried to add these (getting warning cannot detect SIM) but it would not save.
SIM works fine in Galaxy Nexus Stock 4.3 and S3 using CM11 - cannot to network and APNs visible + text/data works.
So I installed CM7 and CM10.1 and with these the phone would not connect to the network at first. However when I do in to search for networks a couple of times it finds SURE and connects. Adding APN gives no error messages but this will not save. Using APN tools from play store they say "You SIM card cannot be used" Sim state "UNKNOWN" + cannot detect operator code etc so it seems to be an issue reading some of the SIM. But when connected to network I can make calls and receive texts. I have tried messing with the GSM only, auto WCDMA settings in phone information and makes no difference.
I am on baseband 5.11.05.27.
Any ideas what could be causing these issues? I really think its an issue with the phone reading 'some' data from the SIM. The phone shop said we do sometimes have these issues with older phones and i should change my phone
Any help appreciated!

BUMP as I really need help - cannot send SMS or get data
Any ideas - should i try different radio?
Firstly upgrade radio to the latest one, as the one you have is not the latest. Secondly, try latest evervolv nightly, as it is based on kitkat and maybe it will help. Try these and post results.

Hi there,
Thanks for these suggestions - it has taken me a while because of USB driver issues but I have finally flashed the latest Radio 5.17.05.23 with a Stock HTC ROM and this did not make any difference - still says No SIM card when opening APNs. Then flashed to latest Evervolv 4.4 and just like CM before it will not let me save APNs and actually says 'No SIM card - C&W" on the lock screen.
Any other ideas - really seems like the phone cannot read the SIM properly. Works fine with other SIMs and the SIM works fine in other phones. Have 2 x HTC desires and same issue so must be problem with this model?!
Thanks

No other thoughts guys? Is this just a weird one where the HTC is too old?
have been using gnex for over two years as a daily driver.....i had a custom rom installed - paranoid android for the same radio. everything worked fine and suddenly the phone showed "emergency calls only"....i reflashed with stock radio ...but still with no luck.....later i inserted my sim card in another phone nd tried...it works on other phones...i tred swapping the sim with another carrier in the gnex...stlll with no luck.....
to make things worse i tried to use my sim in my friends gnex which was also running PA rom.....and to our surprise his phone is also having the same problem...(before i put my sim in his phone...it was working perfectly)...after resetting his device with the sim in the phone all it did was read my carrier providers name...show me my sim number, imei and even connect to the net usin 3g...though when tried calling itt responds mobile network...and when called on the number it says switched off
help me get out of the mess.....please!
Hey there. I have a galaxy nexus i19250 maguro device.
was running on 4.3 jellybean and recently updated to lollipop using the snapshot cm 12.1 ROM... Everything went fine during the process but..... once the device restarted,, there's this text of "No SIM detected, Emergency Calls only" and there's no cellular network detected.
I did try rebooting the device, taking out the sim and reinserting it... nothing worked. So I tried restoring the earlier backup and the cellular network was back........
I look forward to use the lollipop version.. if only someone could help me with the issue mentioned above......................
Not sure if I can help, but apparently, the Galaxy Nexus has problems when soft rebooting and won't detect the SIM card. If you do a standard, hard reboot, although you did that and more already…
