CyanogenMod, and
Odin 3.0.4
find and download Odin 1.85, make sure you load CWM from the Development thread in the Glide forums (CWM 6).
Ensure you're only putting it in PDA and all the other checkboxes except Auto Reboot are not checked...
When rebooting your phone ensure you're in download mode (Holding up on the volume after rebooting).
Give it a go let us know.

I think I see where you're going wrong.
You use Odin to install ClockworkMod, then you use ClockworkMod to install CyanogenMod. Odin won't know what to do with the CyanogenMod zips.

Exactly what I said. If it sounds like Greek to you, you should be doing a bit more research before tackling this.
-E- Okay, it sounds like you're just not explaining your problem well.
So you used Odin to flash CWM, and that went okay? Can you boot into CWM now?
If CWM gave you the "status 7" error there should DEFINITELY be another more descriptive error on that same screen.

I know this has been asked hundreds of times, and i searched the forums for days for a way to fix it, but with no use.
I have a rooted AT&T Galaxy SIII with JB 4.1.1. I am trying to install the CM 10.1(4.2.2) Nightly version, but i always get the infamous "Status 7 Installation Aborted" error.
Yes i am sure im downloading the correct ROM zip file for my phone and carrier.
I have CWM 6.0.2.1, and i followed the steps correctly. (Clear data -> Clear Cache Partition -> Clear Dalvik Cache -> install ROM)
I have tried so many times, i also re-rooted my phone, reinstalled CWM, and redownloaded different nightly versions of the ROM, as well as other ROMS like JellyBam.
I also tried to delete the assert lines in the update-script file, but that also wouldnt work.
Thank you. :good:
And please dont hate on me, im new to rooting and flashing. :crying:

Hi guys, I'm having same issue but on N7000 international version. I'm able to go in the recovery mode and download mode but phone won't boot normally. It's stuck on Samsung logo so can you please advise something? How can I update CWM if that's the issue. I was on ICS 4.0.4 XXLRK before trying to install CM10.1 on Note.
Thanks in advance for your help.

I would be doing my research in an N7000 forum, friend.
Also, your post seems confusing as you seem to be saying you also got a status 7 error but then you appear to have installed abroad and are stuck at the boot logo. If you successfully flashed the correct rom for your device without any errors, pull battery, replace and wipe data in recovery. Reboot

If the phone itself is functioning fine but you simply cannot flash a new rom or rom update, you need to update your recovery. Go to clockworkmods website and download version 6.0.1.2.

I would take up this situation in the correct forum. The more we discuss your device issues the more likey you are to download the wrong file or use a procedure not designed for your device software.
If you came from stock, flashed a rom and are stuck at the samsung logo, boot into recovery, wipe data and cache. Reboot to see if that helped. If not, seek advice in the N7000 forum. Cheers
Thanks for the guidance.
Ok so I am not the greatest when it comes to flashing ROMs but so far I have managed to get by.
I went from MMuzzyROM 4.2.2 to [ROM] [4.3] [JSS15J]. I wiped my data/dalvick/cache, flashed the new ROM and Gaaps and installed SuperuserSU. As of right now SuperuserSU will not install and I get an installation error. And when using Rom Manager I can not reboot into recovery. And there is a bit more, when I try and boot into recovery from the holding the volume and power button down, after choosing recovery the android with the error shows up. From what I understand is that the 4.3 rom I flashed removed the stock recovery, but I am just confused how to get back recovery.
My main question is did I loose root and how can I get the recovery option back.
Thanks, Noel

what's the fastboot command you're using to flash recovery.
about loosing your recovery after flashing/boot/reboot OS for the first time, it's probably the same that 4.2 had

/system/install-recovery.sh

The error message is when using the clockwork mod app to install the recovery, once downloaded it states an error has occurred. Then when trying TWRP I am following these steps I get "fastboot is not a recognizable command..." I am pretty lost as you can tell and am thankful for the help.

Mainly because I thought if I had rooted my device and done all this once, I should remember how to do it again. But through ignorance I thought I could and be able to remember the steps and what not. I'll read through it and figure it out, it was just a moment of panic of losing the option of recovery that I have had for a long time and not being able to use it means (or I think it means) I am just stuck of 4.3 for a bit and hopefully the ROM isn't too bad.
Hey guys I followed this guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2235366
I used a file called "CF-Auto-Root-d2spr-d2spr-sphl710.tar"
Everything goes well and I get a green pass from oden3, the phone reboots. But superSU is not installed and when I check "Root checker" there is no root....
I have 4.1.2
Thoughts?
Just download superuser and simply place it on your phones SD card it's really easy

Your phone is not finishing the process it seems. After Odin says pass do you get a big red Android on the screen? If not flash the cf auto root file but uncheck auto reboot in Odin first. Then when it finishes, pull the cable and remove the battery. Reinsert the battery and manually boot to recovery by holding volume up+home+power and it should finish installing root.
I don't know what the post above me is taking about. Installing superuser isn't going to magically give you root. js

It wouldnt brick the phone but if you are seeing the red android then i was mistaken about what your issue is so disregard. Is your phone new? I bet the issue is related to one others are having where recovery cant mount partitions. To confirm that try this. It's basically the same thing. Cf auto root will install a special recovery made by chainfire and a cache.img with a root zip. It's supposed to flash that zip then restore stock recovery. I've never seen cf auto root fail to do the job so im not sure what went wrong.
But the way you did it was you installed your own custom recovery and manually flashed a root zip created by me instead. Only thing different here is that you still have that custom recovery instead of stock recovery now.

The custom recovery is the same with the exception that it gives you additional privileges over stock recovery. Like installing custom roms, so if you're planning on a custom rom soon then you may as well just stick with the custom one. I do however recommend you download goo manager from the playstore and updating your recovery to the newest with it before trying to flash anything. The recovery I gave you may be a little outdated. And if for any reason you want stock recovery back I'll make a odin tar of it and place it in this post

Personally I think the chances of your efs going bad are slim and a backup is more for paranoid people. With that said it never hurts to back it up. I just wouldn't restore it unless you have to.
I tied to flash the pac-man 4.2.2 ROM to my rooted s4. It worked but all the Google apps did not come with it... so I downloaded an app package off of GooManeger. Anyway after reboot it was obvious the app package was not compatible. Wiped phone, then no ROM, no OS, no nothing. Device doesn't get past initial boot screen. I can get into download and recovery mode. Not really sure how to download anything on my phone right now as my computer doesn't recognize it anymore. My recovery mode is TeamWin. You need to start from scratch using ODIN and flash the stock/non rooted Tmobile Samsung Galaxy S4 M919 firmware.
(using download mode in the phone)
Here is the download link: http://www.hotfile.com/dl/213469534/9ff06bd/M919UVUAMDL_M919TMBAMDL_TMB.zip.html
After the odin flash you will need to root the phone unless you want to keep it stock.
Good luck!

You may have wiped the /system folder which may explain why your phone is stuck on the booting sequence. As the poster said above, use Odin to flash the stock MDL and root again. As far as your computer not recognizing it. Put the phone into download mode (Vol Down + Home + Power), plug the phone into a different USB port (and let the drivers install if it's the first time you're plugging your phone in that port for Windows users), and then open up Odin and flash the stock firmware from there. Let us know if Odin recognizes your phone.
If you can still get into download mode and recovery, you are NOT totally bricked.

Got phone back to normal, then accomplished root access. Downloaded clock work and now recovery mode does not work. I downloaded CW from hot file. I was sure to download the right one for my phone... anyway I cant factory reset at the moment, it just sticks at recovery boot screen. What I'm trying to accomplish is download CW, pacman 4.3 ROM, and Gapps.

You gotta be careful where you're getting your files from man.
Try Philz CWM flash via Odin
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2322676
You could also Odin back to stock (you know how to do that now:good
Root again and use ROM Manager to install CWM.

Start using and MD5 hash checker to make sure your downloads are not corrupted. :silly:
Odin back to stock and re-root. IIRC, CWM should be available from the Play store where you can then open the app and install/update the libraries. Didn't Pacman ROM include CWM?
Thank you guys for the advice. Super usefull
I was under the impression I needed to download a download a recovery mod first. Where is the best place to get my ROMs? I'm real interested in the pacman. I extracted the pacman files but it wont plug into the PDA in Odin. Also MD5 hash checker is something I've never heard of..

What? You don't install Pacrom through Odin. You flash the zip in recovery.
Sent from your phone. You should be careful where you leave that thing.

You need to have a working custom recovery first. Like Skipjacks stated, you flash ROM in the custom recovery.
I think you should start from the beginning and take it step by step.
I assumed at this point you're rooted on the stock ROM with stock recovery?
If not lets get to that stage and we can go from there.
-Stock ROM rooted with stock recovery
-Flash custom recovery
-Nandroid backup
-Flash custom ROM<<You are here
Let us know when you're ready for the next step.:good:

Derp moment. CWM != ROM Mgr. :silly: Thanks for the clarification.
I did it all with exception of flashing the ROM. Every time I try to flash the pacman 4.3 it fails. Any suggestions on how to fix that or should I turn my attention so a different ROM. I'm going for optimization and complete customization, without needing a launcher. Or maybe a suggested ave to customize touch wiz to the fullest.

That's good.:good:
What is the message or why is it "failing"?
It starts the download then at the end it says:
E: Error in /data/media/0/download/pac_jfltexx_4.3.Build-1_20130910-225309.zip
(status 7)
Installation aborted

Hello Everyone:
I'm having a problem flashing a ROM. I'm currently on CM 11 from the N7105 forum but would like to revert back to 4.3. I'm trying to flash Skynote Air, the vanilla version. I follow the steps provided and when I try to install the zip, im being given a system 7 error and an error on the zip file. I'm using philz touch CWM by the way. Is it because im on CM11 from the N7105 or is it the zip file? When trying to download the zip file from the ROM thread, it was coming up blank and I downloaded a mirrior. Before the CM11, I was running seanzscreams Sky Note 4.3. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you using 5.15 version of Philz ? If so, try updating it.

Ahhhh.. Sorry I read but didn't read. Long day.
I read it again and saw the failed downloads.
A hosed zip is probably the case.

Did you download from the copy.com or skynote.com?
I'm grabbing off of the Skynote.com.. Pulling Sky_Note Air Vanilla F1.zip with no problems.. Still have 5 minutes to download.
I'll know if 15 minutes if it's good.

Same place I just downloaded from.. Copying to phone, flashing in 5.
Only difference is I'm using TWRP as my custom recovery.
Only because personal preference... My fat fingers press buttons on Philz by mistake. I hit reboot 80% of the time before I even do anything.
EDIT: I had a copy of Philz on my phone, philz_touch_6.07.9-t0lteatt.zip. My download flashed fine.
I gotta hit the sack... Good luck

I had same Status 7 error. In PhilZ Touch Recovery ( in version 6.19.3 which is actually 6.19.2) in Install menu, make sure you UNCHECK "Don't allow old binary update" then flash rom. You may have a corrupt data partition (I did). If so, you'll have to wipe /data/media partition. Read my post and reference links. Has to do with the change from CWM base 6045 to 6047 .

Glad you're back up and running. .. btw, PhilZ just posted an updated CWM Touch Recovery [6.25.0] for our Note2 [t0lteatt device tree] which now automatically determines if what you're flashing has older binary code embedded in its binary-script to avoid the dreaded Status7 errors.
