[Q] printing from galaxy S3 and formating problem - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

Hey I have an at&t galaxy S3. I am new to android and have not rooted my phone (I will be soon) I can print from the phone using printer share. I have tried to print my reports from work (these reports are pre formated forms) but every app I use to view or pri t the form changes the format of the report, thus making it useless. Can anyone recommand an app or way to print from the phone that will not alter the orginal format? I have used documents to go, office pro, drive, and kingston office. I have not tried to print any documents saved on an SD card, as I will not be getting one for a few weeks (not sure if pulling a file from an SD card would make a difference.
Any help would be apprecited, thanks.

PrinterShare mobile

re
Thanks for the response, however I use printer share app but it reformats my reports regardless of how I open the document. Is there a printer app that will not reformat the report?

What type of files are your reports?

Moving One notes from main memory to storage card

Hi
I'm looking for some way to store the onenote files in the storage card instead of \Application Data\Microsoft\OneNote Mobile.
I looked in the registry but didn't find the setting or something that helps me
Anybody here has any solutions?
Is there a solution to this? My Onenotes are filling up the small 219MB of main memory and I'm getting memory full message on phone. Plenty of space on storage card, how can OneNote use storage card space instead of main memory?
cant you guys just copy the files in File Explorer and make a OneNote folder in the Storage card root? I don't know how you can have them saved on SD card by default, but I don't think copying them to the card is a big deal after you write a new note.
I'm using the HTC supplied WM6.5 and the OneNote Mobile offers no options to open files anywhere but the main memory. One can copy the notes to SD card to make space, but there is no way OneNote mobile can open them from that source even using file explorer and choosing OneNote as program to open file. It appears a limitation of OneNote.
I've asked HTC for their opinion, siince they sold the phone with OneNote and a small main memory size. No reply so far.
Got a reply from HTC who suggest a hard reset and not a mention of Microsoft or OneNote Mobile! Wtf, thanks.
Wow that's pretty messed up. Why on Earth would they suggest a hard reset? Sounds like the person you spoke with has no idea what it is that you're looking to do. I hope you find a solution to your query.
I don't know of this helps, but I use the "Notes" app located within Outlook. There you can set the program to save notes to the SD card and it saves a lot of room. I don't know if your current program is needed for your particular needs, but maybe you could try it?
Actually I replied to HTC and told them I did the hard reset and it didn't work. (I didn't actually do it as I know its a waste of time!). They are looking at it further and I'm waiting on reply with ticket still unclosed on my support question.
Basically I'm trying to get them to agree OneNote isn't suited to their phone which they have sold me and see what they respond with. Still waiting
I have writen down the solution here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=11100039#post11100039, hope it can make some helps.

[Q] PDF - There was an error opening the document.

Hi, hope someone can help me with this, my new droid is unable to open my work email attachments, specifically PDFs.
When I click on view attachment adobe reader appears to load then I get an error message "There was an error opening the document." The same attachment opens fine on my PC and also my HTC HD2.
My ROM is completely unchanged, new phone today but my friends droid also seems to have the same problems. I noticed the PDFs are a different format from normal in that I can open it in a text reader and read as plain text, however as I said they work fine elsewhere.
An example PDF can be found here I have just removed sensitive information.
Any ideas?
any luck yet?
Hey
I've got the exact same problem. did you have any luck fixing it yet?
Please let me know if you know how to get around it!
thanks so much!
Have you try using a different pdf reader? Also you should copy the working pdf from your computer to your phone and see if it open properly first, it could be an faulty download.
I did try any PDF readers I could get my hands on with no luck.
To solve the problem I ended up writing a script on my home PC to access the mailbox, extract and re-encode the PDF back to standard format. Bit of a pain but it does the job.
Try using DocsToGo, it's not free though. Search it in the Android Market.

[Q] App

I have searched for the answer to this question and cannot find it, so excuse me if it has been answered somewhere else before. I have my 2013 Nexus 7 16gb and I have alot of word documents and pdfs stored on a flash drive. I also have Officesuite App installed on my tablet. However it is only reading the internal storage of the Nexus, is there anyway that I can direct it to read the flashdrive or any other app that I can download to accomplish this? I really do not want to transfer the files to my tablet as some of them are quite large and I dont want to use up the internal memory
You can use a cloud service like onedrive or Google drive so you can view it on any device.
Assuming the Office App advertises itself to open those type of files, you should be able to open them from any file manager (I use Total Commander) and you should be prompted with a list of programs capable of opening that type of file, then choose your office program....
Chainfire's Stickmount from the play store

You should search topic "OTG Usb"

I personally use OneDrive/Sky drive, Google Drive, and Dropbox... Not because I need all three but because I create a huge amount of documentation and I am unorganized. You never have to actually transfer stuff this way because you just save it in a replicated folder and it shows up everywhere.
IMO, the least practical is probably OneDrive, since it is generally confusing when/if you ever access it through the web.

[Q] SD Card shares the same disk with os

Hello everyone..
So I while managing pictures on my SD card, I noticed something that is making dumping/importing pictures to my PC, a nightmare.
I think I have a solution, but the app (MoveToSdcard), is giving the following message: "SD Card shares the same disk with os"
Looking at some of the file/folder structure, I think I know what's happening, but I don't know how to fix without breaking stuff.
What I'm trying to do is move all apps that will every have pictures associated with them, to the SDCard. This will allow me to export (and worry) only pictures from the SDCard and delete them like I normally would with my iPhone.
Anyone know of a way to resolve this or have a suggestion on how to achieve what I'm trying to do?
Why do I want to dump my pictures? I put them on a NAS, back them up to various cloud services. I also place my none mobile photo work on this NAS an upload them as well.

I'm having a hard time understanding specifically what you are trying to do. But if the end goal is back up pictures to your NAS then I suggest downloading "Sweet Home! Alfa". It will allow you to select which albums to backup and automatically do it for you based on preference (for example, I have mine setup to do it when I'm connected to my home network and plug my phone in to charge".
You can set it to automatically delete photos off you device once backed up too if you want. Managing albums can be done through the stock gallery app or through a file explorer.
Hope this helps.
BTW, /sdcard actually refers to internal storage. So if you are trying to move apps to /sdcard, that it why you are getting the error. You are telling it to move an app from internal storage to internal storage which doesn't make sense to the app
Hi Artimis! Yea. I'm sorry about how I laid out the thread. Not clear at all. Basically, there are pictures everywhere
I use several apps - Instagram, Photoshop, SquareDroid, Afterfocus, Lapse It, Viva Video, etc. Each one of these apps either place the completed edits/export in their own folder, located in the app's directory, respectively.
When I pull out the SDCard and put it into my machine to dump/export them, not all the pictures are there, because some of the pictures are in their respective app exported folders and those are on the Internal SD.
This now forces me to hunt around and hope I've located all the possible directories and pictures.
If Instead relocate the apps to the SD card, the export folders would also be there, making it one less and easy step to ensure that all possible pictures/directories are accounted for.
Make any sense? Sorry about that.
Now the app you recommended takes it to a whole other level! This is awesome! and it detects new photo directories, created anywhere on the phone or SD card! This more or less solves my whole problem! WOW! Thank you!
As for the whole SD thing, I'm confused. Not a big deal though since all pictures and videos (all big in size) taken using XCam end up on the true SDCard. All the other pictures scattered about are not large in size and I'm not concerned about it. It's just a pain to hunt them down and dump/export them.
This app you suggested though is perfect and solves my problem, and then some!
Thanks Artimis!
wouldn't it be easier to just use Dropbox's import feature or even their auto saving of pictures? Of course letting G+ save them is also a more practical solution, I use both, and would be less time consuming
Yes, I use them as well. They work well. The goal is not to move away from any of them either. The goal is to save them locally to my NAS and at the same time, recover the space back on the device/SDCard.
The program that Artimis recommended takes care of all these issues.
I'm good! Thanks!
Same/Similar Problem
Whenever I try to install apps on to my SD card it says "SDcard share the same disk with os" and won't let me transfer apps.

Does your phone actually have an sdcard in it (it would show up as something like /external_SD through the file system). As I mentioned before, /sdcard actually refers to the phones internal storage. It is a symlinked directory that emulates an sdcard but is mapped to /data/media.
So you will get this error with an app trying to move something from /data/app to /sdcard because it is actually trying to move it to /data/media/.. which doesn't do any good.
If you do have an actual external sdcard (/external_SD) then the problem could be due to the write protection changes implemented in kit kat. There are threads on how to fix this if you are rooted.
I do I have an SD card in my tablet and I supposedly already did an SD card fix for Kit Kat but I will look into it thanks.
i have micromax canvas juice 2 .... i inserted 16gb sd card but iam not able to move apps to my sd card ..... please help me
So how to make it understand I have to sent it to ad card and read data from there..

How to Avoid Losing Photo Date Grouping in Gallery

How to avoid losing Photo Date Grouping in Gallery?
Or, is this question better stated as "How do I keep all file properties (creation date, modification date etc.) when copying photos to a new (e.g., larger) micro SD card?
Here is my scenario -
I am getting a new Micro SD card and a holder to plug it into the bottom of the phone. Once I insert that, and the phone recognizes it -
1. *Copy everything from the old card to the new card.
2. Turn off phone, pop out the sim tray and swap the new card into it.
*The date is reset - how do I stop this?
Thoughts?
Shouldn't be a problem
There's an application I use on my laptop that can read the dates and copy it across the other date in batches. I do it every time I move phones as copying changes at least some of the data.

It is a problem, that is why I posted this, all the dates on every file is reset to the current date and time when it was copied. So now my gallery is a mess.... Help!

This happens to me every time I get a new device and copy my pics across using a PC. Something gets lost in the translation when put back on to Android... The EXIF tag can sometimes be used if it's stored in the image file to correct the file data. There's apps for this you could try. I haven't bothered in a long time as I just live with it now but it's super annoyingly stupid that it happens.
Never had this issue. I always copy/move my files with Solid Explorer

I use EXIF Date Changer first, that sets the EXIF data to whatever date is in the filename, make sure to untick the checkbox that amends the filenames. Once that's done I use BulkFileChanger to set all the EXIF data to match what has been set by EXIF Date Changer. They're both pretty self-explanatory if you're even vaguely competent
Best to do all this with the files on the SD card and mounted onto your laptop otherwise you're going to have the same issues as soon as you copy them from your laptop back to the SD card. If you need any help then give me a shout.

Is there anyway to do this after you do the transfer the jpeg on Android? It suspect my Canon PC app could do as the date is still correct on the jpeg but stupid Android doesn't reference it. None of my Android gallery apps do. Very irritating.
Been casually searching for a fix as I now have thousands of juxtaposed jpegs... perfect.

What do you mean "transfer the jpeg to Android"?

From computer to phone when reloading. Not using a backup app, direct transfer.
So the last date modified is the same on all the jpegs in that unloaded folder.
Sort by date and sort by name fails miserably to restore their original sequential order.

I keep my pictures on an SD card so I can do the fixes on the card, in my laptop. I'm not sure if you can manipulate the images on the phone directly with the apps I've said with the phone plugged in, I've never tried it.

Going to export the whole mess to Windows.
Canon software can rename the jpegs in batch mode.
Just pisses me that it can't be easily done on the stupid Android.
I rarely dredge out the laptop... except to support Android.
