Maybe your they're exposed or broken wires in your cord which may disrupt the connection. This seems like a probable conclusion because you're phone charges with other cables. Make sure however, the wall port is not assert fault first though

Tried about 4 chargers... Wall charging doesn't work... Phone charges only when connected to pc with data cable... Also tried all sockets in my home....

Did you even try changing the firmware?
Besides, ALWAYS restore stock firmware and lock bootloader when sending phone to repair.

the problem started after i pluged in MHL adapter to HDMI
it still works on HDMI if i plug in the MHL

i know a few guys had similar issues here before about losing USB or it not longer being detected
i just wanted to compare notes, and see if they also had this happened after doing something with he MHL adapter or something else.
yeah, it kinda sucks now, i won't be able to depend on Odin to save me any more

that's definitely not it, as i'm in a computer lab, i have access to over a dozen computers & laptops of all sizes to test, and i pointed that out already on the OP message
try with different usb cables, it might solve that problem.
Did you super wipe? Also, try a USB jig to get into download.

i have a good collection at home, so... i'm hoping one of them can save me else the USB port really got damaged by the HDMI thingy

hopefully it's just the cable. Also, if you have spare Nokia CA-101D usb cable, try with that. It might work.

Hopefully, that's what it is. I had the same problem with my Transformer. It would charge, but comps wouldn't recognize it through USB. It was solved by purchasing a new cable.
While not exactly the same, since the Transformer has a proprietary port, it seems to be a problem with integrated charging/data cables being used today. The internal wires that carry the data fail, but the power wires remain functional.

I had the exact same thing happen. Mine was also the USB cable. Go to ebay and order a few. I paid 10 bucks for 3 OEM samsung cables

Update
It was indeed the HTC USB cable that decided to quit on me
the faithful servant has been with me since like forever... oh well, at least it still can retire as a charging only cable. (gonna sort out the pins to get it to be detected as AC cable instead of USB csble)
tried the original one from Samsung and another one from BlackBerry and they both work fine, even the cheap generic ones from China

I had the same problem with my HTC cable and I called HTC and they replaced it with another one without asking me to return the old one..I was still under manufacturer warranty.. I called Samsung the other day and asked if my cable died on me will they replace it.. They said yes, but I will have to send in the old one first so they can check it before sending me another one.. See how different company do things..crazy.

Hey guys. Im having some issues with my s3 and the otg cable. So I was in the car for a road trip. And I was playing games with the otg cable and a ps3 controller. Then I put my things away and put it in my bag and fell asleep. When I woke up I tried to play a game again and when I plugged it in the notification bar kept saying " usb connecter connected" then 1 second later "usb connecter disconnect ed". Any help?
You seem to have damaged the connector by any chance ?

My charger works fine and the cable works on other devices.
Does it work for data on other devices, or just charging.
Try another cable anyway. They do get messed up easily.

The pins used for data transfer could become damaged while the ones used for charging remain intact. Works the same way on a cable too.

Hi today found out that my note is acting strange whenever I try to charge while its on it wont let me the charging icon shows with a big red cross on it and wont charge a bit it just keeps draining. Tried while its off and it works normally , disturbs me to have to turn it off each time I want to charge it, anyone experienced this before?

are you using the stock charger. if not make sure that the aftermarket charger is a 2A charger.
Its the usb connection signal. Mine did that occasionaly too, but not lately. It should recognize its charging after a second or two

i have no issues when using stock charger and cable, I run across this with other charges and cables that are less than 2 amps though
what kind of charger are you using or cable?
Thanks for your answers guys its the stock one which makes this kinda strange.
Yes this has happened to me on a couple of occasions. Unplugging and plugging it back in solved the problem. I also discovered that not only does the charger matter, but I got different results (charging times) using the same charger but different cables. Maybe there are different guage wire used in the cables?

yes, the cable also matters to handle the extra amps, so you need both the stock charger and cable combo
My stock cable went bad somehow and I had the same problem. It wouldn't charge at all. Even overnight

After reading this thread, I went and downloaded an app called Galaxy Charging Current. I know there are a lot of battery management apps out there, but this is a really simple, basic app that tells you how many amps are flowing thro the charger and cable to your device. My device using OEM pulls 1.8A.
I'll be buying a car charger from Amazon and will use this app to determine if it performs as claimed.

yes i have tried both drivers and several cables wondering if maybe the problem lies in the actual connector within the phone .... but than it woud never charge or be recognized by a pc ... iam fairly new to this phone modding lol so iam stumped
even right now when i go to battery in settings it says 3percent battery, discharging (when its plugged into the pc) but also says 1 day and 12 hours of life left right below it!!??
That is not the life of your battery. Its how long it had been lasting
