Hi guys, I recently tried to install Cyanogenmod10 but failed. Here's what I did:
1. Rooted the phone and installed SuperSU
2. Flashed recovery-clockwork-touch-5.8.4.0-endeavoru.img
3. Downloaded cm-10-20121218-NIGHTLY-endeavoru.zip, extracted boot.img and flashed it.
4. Restarted in custom recovery and wiped cache, data files and Dalvik cache.
5. Flashed the new rom
6. Wiped cache again.
7. Rebooted. -> Problem: The phone just displays the white screen with HTC logo and won't boot, no matter how long I wait.
I've tried to restore the old rom and boot image (I made a backup before starting) but it doesn't help.
I am thankful for any helpful advice, as this is my only phone and is currently unusable.

Update: I managed to solve the problem, scroll down.
Hboot?
The boot.img that is present in the zip works only for older hboot versions. Check your hboot version first.

Am attempting to flash ARHD 9.3.1 from a rooted UK vodafone HTC One X.
Have exactly followed install instructions and reviewed utube video of process:
- Flashed new boot.img using fastboot and erased cache
- Use recovery to run super wipe
- Used recovery to run ARHD installer.
Did bog standard install from installer (did not enable any optional optimisations).
Installer then reboots phone.
Phone reaches white boot screen with "htc one" in middle and "beats audio" at bottom
and hangs.
Read from ARHD thread that can take some time for initial boot, but have left phone
for up to 20 minutes and is still stuck so looks pretty permanent to me. Have repeated
process at least twice, in case missed something. Still same hang.
Any ideas here?

Yes checked the md5 of both the rom and the boot image (at least the rar containing it).
For the extracted boot.img i get:
9d5548cd6e0a79a3baefb7ce631674d2 boot.img
I see 9.3.2 has just been dropped, will give this a try.

Hello, this happened to me several times. Solved it each time by taking the long aproach and doing a full wipe again (use Mike's Super Wipe - see first page). Also flash the boot.img once again just to be on the safe side.

Try wiping cache and dalvik cache then flash boot.img then super wipe and flash the ROM all over again ... Made it out once by doing this ...
My procedure in chronological order:
Flashed recovery TWRP 2.3
Wiped everything possible in the wipe-tab
Installed CM9/10 from zip on SD-card (zip contains META-INF, system and boot.img)
Flashed boot.img from the zip file CM9/10
Issued the command fastboot erase cache
Unplugged cable and reboot
What happens is that I am stuck at the HTC booting screen. I have been here for about 30-40 minutes. If I try any adb shell command I receive this error: - exec '/system/bin/sh' failed: No such file or directory (2) -. Clearly, something is not right here. I will not speculate because I lack the knowledge to do so. Any help is appreciated because I have been phone-less for a day now and it is getting irritating. Thanks!
Seems you did everything correctly.

I just did the same procedure as before but with clockworkmod instead. Still hung at booting screen. I get the same error as before. Is root access a must? I have not done any exploit, only thing I have done is unlocked my boot loader at HTCDev.

No, I have not. Maybe I should give it a try? Or is it not required? Should I not be able to start the phone without any gapps?
Do you by chance have any ROM you can recommend that works so I could try it out and exclude problems? Would very like to know if it is my phone or ROM that is buggy.
It should boot without them, but better to give it a try.
Ironically, I've been using CM10 for more than a month now and never had any problems booting.

If you have an hboot newer than 1.12 you need a different boot.img, check the bottom if the ROM OP.

Thanks, but still a no go. What I did was take the modified boot from your link and the boot.img from the zip file, do the online converter as stickied on the forum, then did the procedure all again but this time I flashed the new boot.img I got from combining the old and the new boot.img. Still hangs at boot. Very annoying. I am currently using a modified stock ROM and I dislike it very much.
Hey,
I have exactly the same issue. I've unlocked my bootloader using the method as specified by htcdev.com. Then I flashed the newest CWM recovery. But if I flash any ROM, I'm stuck at its boot animation. However if I then unzip the boot.img from the ROM, and flash that (fastboot flash boot boot.img), my phone won't boot past HTC screen. Even erasing the cache didn't help (fastboot erase cache).
I've restored the stock ROM using the RUU, however during the process something went wrong and it formatted my sd-card. So I'm stuck with the stock ROM, without any applications or data.
Can anybody help me flash CM10?
My Hboot version is 1.36.0000
And I'm trying to flash the cm-10-20121210-NIGHTLY-endeavoru.zip ROM.
Thanks in advance

You cannot use the boot.img that comes with the zip out of the box if you have Hboot 1.36. What you have to do is repack it, taking the boot.img from the zip file and then a modified boot.img here http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...postcount=9173 (thanks TToivanen), then as I understood it, repack it for instance here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1815607, download the repacked boot.img and flash that.
With that said, I could not get it running but it might be something wrong with my phone. Please try this out and tell me if it works or not so I may start to conclude where the error lies.

Try installing again with full wipe and remember to wipe cache and dalvik.
You are referring to the official CM10 and not Trip's or any other builds right?

I see, then it is not only I who have this problem.
And a heads up, if the backup would go wrong, I currently use this ROM and it works pretty good if you want stock or cannot be arsed to get a root exploit for the stock ROM. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2035203.

You're right, I forgot to do that. I does boot now, still at a loss though. Can't we downgrade our Hboot to a version in which we know that CM can be flashed?
Kinda out of ideas here...
Can you confirm that the boot.img flashes ok? (should say OKAY)
Also confirm that you have endeavoru and not evita.
Hay guys,
for my Desire HD i use the custom rom Jellytime. I used the r6.2, then i flashed an update.zip to r7.
But then i realized, bluetooth is not working and i'm not connected to my google account. So i decided to downgrade to r6.2, so i flashed the .zip as an update.zip. now my phone freezed after the jellytime bootlogo :/
I tried to get to the recovery but when i press power+ volume down, it vibrates 3 times and nothing happens.
does anybody knows what to do? I have a backup, so are there any possibilities, to restore the backup?
slixx
Ouch, did you flash the ROM as an update.zip or the backup?? And what recovery do you got?
hay,
i flashed the r7 as an update.zip, to update my custom rom from r6.2 to r7. and i also flashed the r6.2 as an update.zip to downgrade
I think this was my fault.
i have the lastes version i think - something like 5.0.1.20.
okay,
i used the adb to boot into the bootloader. with the bootloader i booted into the recovery, know i try to restore my backup.
hope it works!
Report back with your progress.
EDIT: and save yourself some trouble next time by using recovery instead of bootloader for installing ROMs
It worked!
i restored the backup, after this i installed an older version of jellytime, flashed gapps, and restored my personal stuff with google
i didn't flashed the rom with the bootloader. i just forgot to flash gapps, after installing the jellytime update ._.
this was the reason why i was not connected to my google account. and the bluetooth function...hmm i dont care cause i don't use it.
but now everything is okay again.
BTW, if you feel like getting back to jelly time, I recommend using v30, or the last 4.1.2 version of jelly time. I think it was only until v9 that jellytime started getting stable, and v30 should be almost bug free.
Sent from my Inspire 4G using xda app-developers app
black screen after update of Jellytime was installed
I flashed in recovery , formatted and all that and picked up the zip of jellytime all installation steps worked fine and once finsihed and the phone was going to finally reboot it just turned black and didn't continue.
HOw do I resolve this? How can I do my backup ? Right now my phone is useless so appreciate a fast answer

If you mean I am rooted - yes I am. I had the IceColdSandwich before I tried to flash this CM10 JellyTime. I'm not sure I did the fastboot. I did a clean wipe and selected the update rom zip and then followed the steps, inlcuding selecting Desire S and flash (normal?) . It ran through all the installation steps without problems, but when finsihed and during the reboot it hanged (black screen).

So responding a bit more politely;
Do you have an unlock bootloader? To unlock a bootloader is mlostly resolved by doing a root. That I have done so yes in that case I do have a unlocked bootloader. Please correct me if I am wrong in conclusion.

Thanks for the patience

Whatever - I didn't stop me from installing other ROMs. This case is now closed - I changed ROM to CodefireX - worked fine. But sure I will look into it if its necessary - for sure for Jellytime..
I must say you guys really tried to help but any reasons to why I have to unlock bootloader - is that something that have become necessary over time? Maybe its also bad instructions on the ROMS main pages? Why do I need to search 50 different forums to get a simple answer?
Anyway you can give up on me now because I resolved it on my own. Thanks
Because there are additional steps if you are unlocked...
Hi XDA,
I decided to install CM 11 on my HTC, and so I unlocked the bootloader, and I then rooted it. I also updated my HBOOT to 1.39. After this I installed CWM and backed up, and attempted to flash the latest CM for the One X. Firstly I had an issue with the status 7 error, but managed to overcome that by updating my CWM (Now running 6.0.4.7 Touch Recovery). At the moment I do not have an OS, and all attempts to flash a new ROM are successful, however when I reboot I am still stuck at a frozen boot screen. ("HTC. Quietly Brilliant"). Even restoring my backup doesn't work.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Apologies if this is in the wrong section.
Thank you

Found 2 drivers of HOX and filled it with zip files of ROM and Gapps.
Then I tried flashing ROM. It asked me some steps to followed and I did and suddenly phone got Switched Off and got ON and Hanged on HTC logo.
Again I performed this and ROM installation was successful and it asked me to reboot. I said yes. Mobile again hanged on HTC Logo. So I tried to flash Boot image file given by you separately. It didnt worked out.
Again I tried flashing ROM. It asked me some steps to followed and I did and suddenly phone got Switched Off and got ON and Hanged on HTC logo.
The Zip files got disappeared totally and my system is not able to detect the mobile 2 drivers.
Please help me.

follow the steps you followed to change to new layout i.e flashing twrp again and a factory reset..blah..blah
then download ARHD NL .zip and flash it or skydragon.zip .. and dont forget to flash the boot.img in fastboot
Maybe there is some problem in the viperNL.zip ...

i would suggest you to stay on the new layout and flash arhd or other sense rom .
coz there are many benefits of new layout
as for viper rom the problem may be because of the aroma installer
could you tell me what all options you selected in aroma installer??

i am too not a techine i am just 17
when you flash viperNL.zip there will be a popup of aroma installer where it will ask you do a full wipe or continue without wiping
then it will ask you to de-sense the rom or not then which mods you want to install beats ..etc...the in the next screen it will ask if you want to remove any apk ...then at last it will flash the rom with the % increase in flashing the rom and after that do you want the logcat ..then the phone comes out of aroma installer back in the twrp menu ...
and for the viperNL i just found the trick ..here is the link to how to flash without any error
