[Q] XPlay Display not Working? - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My flex cable had recently broke, and I bought a replacement. I replaced the broken cable with the new one, and it worked perfectly. After a few weeks, the display started to act up again, so I opened it up, and tried to fix it. The cable broke again (idk how lol) and I had to replace it once.again. I did so, and nothing will show up on the screen. Not even those weird white lines and pixels al over the screen.
Would the problem be the connection to the motherboard, it the LCD itself? Thanks

Go to a phone repairer and have him fix it for you.

I'd like to see if I can fix it myself before resorting to that.

Maybe try another flex cable?

Ehhh sounds like you damaged the whole lcd.... you can try another flex and if that don't work then you can try a whole new screen

[Q] What is the quickest way to break a xperia play?

i know the title seems a bit off but anyway my xperia play has been sent off to be repaired twice and if it breaks again i get a new handset of the same value but my warranty goes in December but the phone speakers weren't working the other day when i went to bring it down to the shop halfway the sound works again is there anyway to make it look like it was a manufacturer fault within the phone ?
You can try to flash your boot loader and "fail" then the phone won't turn on and the LED will flash red till the BL is back

You could try sliding the gamepad up and down vigorously and hope the flex cable goes wierd. I got mine repaired that way
Install YouTube and leave that open with the charger plugged in. I fell asleep once and my phone got unbearably hot.

Yeah, maybe try to get the phone really hot and see what happens.
Do a factory reset and pull out the battery during the process haha.

Doesn't a factory reset just reset userdata? So wouldn't you just be able to do another factory reset to fix any issues that may arise from the failed reset?
Throw into water and watch it swim.

Ignore the fixable stuff!!
Leave YouTube on whilst having your charger connected. You can fry an egg on the result.

Xperia Play Won't boot on stock firmware HELP!

I know i'm not at the right section but no one could help me at the Q&A section.
Xperia Play Won't boot.
I bought Asphalt 7. Was downloading and installing the game when suddenly it kind of crashed. It booted again but the screen became all glitchy. Opened the phone and saw that the flex cable died so I replaced it and booted but it didn't boot at all. When pressing the on button the phone vibrates but no screen.
Allready flashed .ftf file and updated with SEUS so the device is in stock state but it doens't boot. When pressing the on button the phone vibrates but no screen.
Help me please
Maybe your flex cable isn't plugged in properly.
Have tried many times but thanx

think you need a new flex cable, you can buy one eBay for about £8 but make sure you buy the tool also to open your phone. You will need to try and find someone to open your phone up for you or carefully do it yourself and follow a tut on YouTube as you can mess your phone up even more like I have

[SOLVED][Q] Flex cable that looses contact?

Hello guys, so after a year of life my Xperia Play seems to have problems.
Here a video:
http://tinypic.com/r/2iikbrp/5
I guess it is the flex cable, but I dunno if it does this because it is starting damaging, or because it looses contact (and maybe doesn't need a replace, but just a look into where it looses contact and thus I should apply there something that keeps it in place).
What do you think guys?

Few other users reported same problem, and it was flex cable fault.
You better get another flex slider cable before it totally looses contact (and thus can be replaced in hour or two, if you know how)
If you don't know how to replace, ask around where you can repair it, so it doesn't suprise you when fail completelly

I'm searching for a new flex cable right now, but, well, I live in Italy, where it's impossible to get even a cover
I'll try to order something from the States or UK, but yeah, it'd take something like 20 days
I hope I get it fixed, i love this phone D:

Rear camera is attached motherboard on it's own flex cable. Did you take it off when opening your Play? If yes, then probably you didn't put it back properly. Or maybe it missplaced.
Try opening again (just motherboard part and see is flex from camera is loose or something

Unless you drop your Play hard, it should work normally. If it's taking picture normally, maybe it's software problem.
On what rom and kernel you are now? Maybe, to test, make backup and flash stock ftf, to see is it sofware problem (i think i don't need to explain to you how to do that )

Lol I've just "logcatted" and so I saw an error regarding framerates.

To fix this, you need to desolder the USB-port from the mainboard and solder a new onto the mainboard. This is very hard to do if you haven't soldered a lot before, and it requires a lot of flux.
Just replace the mainboard, order a cheap Arc S from ebay with cracked screen and swap the mainboard.
