There I'd this bluetooth keyboard that is on gear xs and was wondering if anyone knew if the evo would support it since its hid. Oh and I'm running cyanogenmod 6. Just google gearxs mini bluetooth keyboard.

while i dont know for 100% sure i dont see why evo wouldnt. it looks like it is just a standard bluetooth 2.0 device which should work fine.
I recommend the freedom pro keyboard with the driver downloaded from their website. It works great on all programs. I do not believe that the evo can use the HID format, however. Use SIP format. Follow the directions on the keyboard website.

Seen the freedom pro and don't really like the size of the thing. That's why I wondered about the mini keyboard I mentioned earlier. Small and fits in your palm

EVO has no HID support unless you use CM6 rom.
he is using cm6 thus why i dont see a problem
I haven't heard anything about the keyboard the OP mentioned, but I did read a tweet that said the Ipazzport Bluetooth Keyboard, which is very similar to the one the OP mentioned, does work with CM6 on the N1, so I would say there is a good chance it will work on the EVO. Here is the link to the Ipazzport:
http://www.amazon.com/iPazzPort-BLU...D-SIZED/dp/tech-data/B003URPPY6/ref=de_a_smtd
BTW, when compared with the keyboard in the OP, I think the Ipazzport is a much better buy. The Ipazzport is slightly more expensive, but it has backlit keys and has built-in media player controls.
I was going to order the Ipazzport but then I saw this which suits my needs better since it includes a trackpad (no need for a separate BT mouse):
http://www.amazon.com/ProMini-Wirel...1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1284666233&sr=8-1
I found one positive review but I have no idea if it will work on the EVO.

He mentioned he intends to, but for the hundreds of others that search and ask the same thing, maybe they'll see it and not post another thread.
Well I went ahead and ordered it since out was on sell and if it doesn't work I'll just use it for my ps3. I'll post what happens.

I bought and returned the freedom pro keyboard for the evo the keys were a terrible layout and nearly all the fuctions don't work correctly on the evo. Hopefully HTC will make something that would work well for this phone
Just received my mini bluetooth keyboard, don't know the brand since there was none anywhere to be find on the box. So my thoughts are..........I like it. Still getting use to the layout, lots of. Accidental m key presses instead of n key. But overall very happy with my purchase. Using it for emulators works very well after a bit of key mapping, was able to comfortably play street fight 4 hyper with all the moves at my disposal. But yea I feel like I made a good buy and for anyone else looking for a descent mini bluetooth keyboard just google the topic its the black one with soft keys.

I have decided that I can not deal with the locked bootloader on this tablet and have chosen to sell it (got more then I paid). The A100 is a wonderful tablet and has great potential but the lack of developers and dead end bootloader is a showstopper.
I am waiting for another brand 7 inch tablet to arrive by Fedex later this week. It has the same basic specs as the a100. CWM is already available and there is a small amount development going on. But it is new on the market. No ICS yet. There is some talk in getting CM9 on it.
It is really disappointing that the 10 inch tabs are getting all of the glory, I really think the 7 inch is the best size for carrying with you.
see yah!
The locked bootloader isn't a big deal for me because the tab already does everything I want it to do. The only thing that could make this tab already better than what it is would be the unlocked bootloader that way we could look at different rom options (but to be honest the rom that's currently there isn't that bad at all). Granted it would be nice to overclock, but its already pretty fast and I haven't really had any hiccups while using it since I released the custom build.prop (except for using hdmi which I'm working on).
I think eventually we'll get some sort of work around for the bootloader working, its just a matter of time. I'm definitely not going to drop this tab though just because we don't have it figured out yet.
I do wish there was someone other than myself that's taken an interest in this tab that knows their way around custom recoverys and bootloaders since that's not one of my strong points but at least I'm trying to help.
I wont call you a sell out, but I will wish you good luck with your new device and happy modding!

I agree, but everyone is entitled to thier opinion. I personally don't care how bad you thought it sucked and what you're replacing it with. If you don't have anything useful to contribute don't bother posting. For me these "goodbye" types of posts fall into that catagory.
That's just my own opinion though.

Is that okay with everyone?
(Of course if someone wanted to pay me enough for it so I could buy the next, better thing....)

I think its a simple way of letting their frustrations go. I was just doing some research on this tab as I'd like to have a nice little 7 inch carry along but not so sure about it with the locked b/l and bad viewing angles.
Is the screen as bad as it looks in videos? From what I've seen and read this thing runs very smooth and lagfree, am I right about that?
Thanks for any info.

Theres really only 1 bad angle which is about 120 degrees towards the bottom. It gets darker. So jus flip it 180 in landscape and youre good. Left, right and top angle are great IMO. As far as speed. Here's one I posted....you be the judge....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-99O4-gmQ6E&list=UUHqepxR6_suYYKySqKxymDg&index=3&feature=plcp
The only lag I've ever experienced was when I was on the early 3.2 builds. After upgrading to the latest 3.2.1and running the custom build.prop, the only bit of lag I've seen is playing 720p video in flash and 720p software mode video on hdmi out. But my atrix had the same issue, so I think its just a limitation of stock tegra2. I resovled it on my atrix by overclocking, so if we ever find a method of running a custom kernel I think it'll be resolved.
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
I have never experienced any lag whatsoever in the a100. also, i have heard so much about the viewing angles, and as aznmode said, there is only one slightly off angle and there is no reason whatsoever to have to be looking in that angle unless you just choose to do so. I have several tabs and i use the acer more than the others combined because it does everything that is needed and it is very easy to carry around. Also I have hear reviewers complain about the battery, however i can useit on and off all day long without charging and also it charges twice as fast as most. i wouldn't hesitate to purchase this tab again, i would just love to see some more development. The rom itself is very fast and extremely stable, the only real complaint that i have about the tab is that i would like to see usb host mode working. i also wanted to say thanks to crossix and all of the other devs that have put alot of work into it so far!

If you have a big microsd card, you could swap it with the internal memory (I really need to add direct links to these things to my signature..).
Just out of curiosity has anyone contracted koush to see if he can unlock the bootloader. On his website he says that he just needs the tablet for about a week. I know that you guys have been working on it and have made some bits of progress, but maybe a new set of eyes might be helpful. I do support for two as we got the kids some for Christmas but I need to leave them stock so they can't get into and erase stuff they need for them to run.
Don't want to step on anyone's toes or if this has already been attempted just disregard.
Thanks to the developers for their work.

I started this thread when I was really pissed off at the A100. Between my touch screen failing and the many hours spent to get a working tun.ko on it. Due to the encrypted kernel I could not even load a kernel module.
To explain I need tun.ko and advanced routing so I can connect to a Cisco VPN for work. While waiting for my tab to be returned from service went to Best Buy and picked up the Samsung Galaxy tab plus, installed VPNC and it worked with no problem.
The A100 is a really nice device and for 90% of people it is perfect. I actually preferred the styling compared to the Samsung slab, but VPN is the reason I wanted a tab in the first place.
I wish you all good luck with cracking the bootloader.
I plan on keeping my a100 at least until I can afford a tegra 3 tab.

I use remote desktop with a virtual pc setup to connect up to my works Cisco VPN and it works really well, especially when I have a bluetooth keyboard and mouse connected up to the tab (I also use this same setup with my atrix), it works great!
I also use this same setup for one of my clients Nortel Networks VPN which doesn't work at all on android nativity. I'm sorry you had a bad experience with the a100 but for the price its hard to find fault with it.

Agreed the price is right.
The virtual PC solution is not an option since I not only need it for RDP and VNC but also to sync my contacts, email and calendar. I was connecting to my home VPN and then jumping through to work but I need my contacts and email in somewhat a real time solution.
I just switched from iPhone to Note II and I'm pretty pissed I can't just plug into my cars USB port and have it play through the speakers anymore...
I have a 2012 Honda FIt that has a built in USB port and it worked fine with iPhone. When I plug in the Note II, I get a "Unsupported" message on the car stereo. Anyone have a workaround for getting apps to play through the microUSB properly?

Zing!.... But seriously though, I wouldn't mind and answer to this as well. Building a custom dash in my car and it would be hella convenient to just build in a little cradle to set my n2 in for my music. My head unit has the usb, but just pluging things together doesn't do it... Maybe a "dock mode" or something that is missing?
Edit... Why would anyone EVER suggest a product that has basically 1.5 stars? It's obviously crap.

No I read it. I just didn't take the time to post the whole thing from my phone. There doesn't appear to anything that will help you immediately to achieve what you want at this time other than using the cable I showed you or if you have Bluetooth use that or you can get a Bluetooth to FM transmitter. All things that will get the music to your radio.
after taking 5 minutes with a quick google search I turned up that until 4.+ android there was no way to do this. However, I don't think Samsung implemented it with the note 2 since I couldn't find anything about it. I did however turn up the items I mentioned.
It looks like if that is what you want and you aren't willing to invest in the way Android works Android isn't for you and you should probably return the device and get an iPhone again. The USB drive you mentioned probably uses the Apple protocol and USB mass storage protocol neither of which the note can perform. If you have a 3.5mm connector that would allow you to connect it as well. My wife's vehicle had this as an input option that I quickly changed to a Bluetooth connection with a simple like item from Amazon.
Android's Bluetooth protocol is amazing after ice cream sandwich, auto connecting to my vehicle's stereo everytime I start my truck and with Tasker/Automateit one can even have it auto launch your music apps. with the awesome battery life of this device, which the iPhone can't touch, I don't even bother to plug it in and just leave it in my pocket jump in and bam Pandora starts playing. When I turn off my truck it stops on it's own and I go about my day.
now that is not to say I am not incorrect and there is another solution that would get you going the way you want. However there are a lot of people on XDA way smarter at these phones than I am and none of them have Chimed in yet so that isn't a good sign because generally the really knowledgeable people waste no time Answering questions.
The 30 pin connector from your previous iOS devices have way more abilities than the 4 to 5 pin micro USB port does. Which is great but limits people to the Apple Ecosystem, which is great for Apple's pocket book. Not so great for a person wishing to move to another device. This is why I always tell people if you are invested in Apple just stick with them and if android then stick with android. Nothing funnier than an idiot *****ing because their Apps don't work anymore after changing from one to the other.

Dude, seriously, read what you just said. You were attempting to educate me that I didn't buy an iOS device; thank you Captain Obvious. I know what phone I have and that is why I posted in the Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II forum.
I don't want it to "work like an iPhone". It's ridiculous for you to say that I'm crazy for thinking that my $700 (if purchased unlocked) smartphone SHOULD be able to output audio via the USB port like other smartphones (other Android and iPhones work fine in my car), thus using the DAC directly instead of having to use the lower quality 3.5mm headphone jack or Bluetooth A2DP.
Anyways, to anyone who wants to be helpful, I've found that the issue has something to do with the fact that Samsung seems to have changed the way that the Note II and S3 operate the USB port. Anyone have any ideas for restoring the previous functionality of the port? Thanks!

he was exactly correct....the protocol has not been implemented.
there is no way to know it will be.
give it time or go back to the iphone seems to be the only applicable responses...so pick one.
I too went wireless back in 2008 so can't be of much more help than that.
Everything I listen to works over my head unit via bt.
isnt bt standard on the fit?
ok now wait...are you looking for dac ...hell thats been a samsung issue across multiple devices for a while...though i thought I read it was fixed now. it was an issue on the orig note..the skyrocket.. variants of the s2 seems like one or two more as well.
guess it was not fixed.

There's a mod that lets you mount your sd card in msc mode...but it won't let you listen to streaming services.
I believe there's a kernel in the dev forum that enables usb audio. This would not likely interface with your car's usb port. What you need is a usb to 3.5mm splitter
It's just like plugging in via the audio port get this way you only need to plug one cable to you phone.
And you are kinda rude.

So you have had android devices that could play pandora, spotify and the like via USB? Ive never had a device personally capable of dping that. My wifes head unit can play Pandora but i think that might be Bluetooth only, it its definitely only Pandora though. I was able to mount as mass storage in the Android 2.3 days, but even with the USB audio in 4+ i doubt if any current market product has the capabilities to control the music like it does the iPhone. I'm sure iPhone uses proprietary software in your stereo to deccoe the audio stream and unfortunately Android is lacking in any manufacturers supporting it.

There are some aftermarket stereos that interface with android.
There is no magic cable that will make your stock stereo work with your Note's Pandora.
I'd like to know exactly what differences you notice between a 3.5mm cord and bypassing the DAC while using your stock audio system.

Thanks.
I would prefer to use the usb plug because I don't have to adjust my headphone output every time I plug it in and because I only need one cable to charge and listen to music. I have read that a lot of car stereos use the "iPod Out" feature of the iPhone and this is why it won't interface properly with Android devices. It's too bad someone hasn't been able to make an app/hack that would emulate this function and intercept the audio out from an Android phone. I can't believe that I'm the only one who is interested in using the usb plug built into their cars for the purpose of charging and listening to music from their smartphones... I guess it's time to spend the money on replacing my factory stereo with an aftermarket head unit with bluetooth.
I just fm transmit my music. I'm not sure of the bitrate difference between bt and a fm signal but it's useable. Then I can use my car charger.
Honestly I just got an iPod for music. Had the same problem and couldn't find a solution. I use spotify so I just download my tracks offline and play them through the iPod. Its also good to have something relatively cheap (its a 2nd gen) to use while working out, who wants to have this huge phone on them while working out. Its great for a lot of things but that iPod out is great considering I can change tracks using the steering wheel. For everything else I have my note 2.

I'am a terrible texter, no doubt, But I'm frustrated by the fact that the lowly iphone has better detection capabilities than my Super Awesome Galaxy S3. I have tried all keyboards on the android market, some free, some paid for and there is no comparisson witth the touchscreen sensibility/recogniztion on the iphone, which I come from.
Any of you experts can tell me if in fact the hardware used by the iphone as far as touchscreen is superior than that of the Galaxy ???
I hate the Iphone and its closed architecture. Not even a "Jailed Broken" Iphone is better than any android , rooted or not,
But when it comes to the keyboard, I can't believe the iphone is better.
have you tried swiftkey? you probably have if you've tried so many. i found it a couple years ago and havent used anything else since. excellent keyboard
The built in android keyboard, Kii keyboard are two I've been using for some time now. There are many keyboards available that you haven't yet tried possibly.

I will second this. SwiftKey is my favorite android keyboard and nothing comes close for me. Once you familiarize yourself with it, I think you could love it!
I absolutely love the note 2 keyboard that enewman17 made. The top row is all numbers. It also learns after using it. All you have to do is type the first 1 or 2 letters and the suggested words pop up. I text my wife a sentence in about 4 or 5 keystrokes.
Hey guys,
Just went to a major whse and bought the Galaxy Tab s. Looking over the specs I noticed it can mirror my Galaxy Note 3 via sidesync to send and receive calls. However one can't talk THROUGH the Tab s? I just talked to two live chat support and they said you can't. Both are bluetooth paired, sydsynced, both have microphones and speakers. All set up to be able to talk through the Tab s right? Nyet. no. Yet, my $80 dumb car stereo with bluetooth can and the sound comes through the speaker so why can't this whizz bang tablet? What am I doing wrong and missing?
Thanks for any hep.
I've searched google for w while now and I found ONE thread about downloading something onto my computer then onto the tablet after rooting but I'm not that technical. I'm three hours into the search and nothing. So either I'm asking the google the wrong question or a solution isn't there?
Yeah, call through secondary device, everybody wants, but AFAIK not solution around. Bummer.
I became so disappointed as you when I realized I couldn't speak and hear through tab when picking calls from note 3.
The solution we expect will require a BT phone in range with note 3. That is pretty redundant because tab has a BT phone built in as you said.
Sidesync is nice but is fresh and there is a lot of room for features and improvements on its next versions.
sydesinc for now acts just like a windows RDC and can't be used if you're tethering data from secondary device. it is nice but it's not enough.

Thanks guys just my luck. This is NOT what was advertised or rather a slick omittance and half truth in their advertisement. Even a gent from a major electronic magazine at the CES show stated after sydsyncing his phone "will be able to talk through the device and mirror your phone". Then went on to drag and drop a pic of his mirrored phone onto the Tab. I thought cool finally! So much for research.
It amazes me they went 9/10th of the way but thought it not useful to go that extra tenth to make it be a pass though device for calls.
Again, thank you for your answers.:good: Going back today to return it.

Sad to say that is the case. It does work with S5 however. Did you update your software? I am wondering if that would take care of it. Not sure why it would with S 5 and not Note.

So you confirm you can make a call on S5 (actually pressing it on tab) through sidesync and speak on the mic of te tab?
can we bridge calls through devices or not? I just could't figure how.

I was able to tether the entire call through my galaxy tab S via sidesync using my galaxy S4, however I can't tell if it works with my new Note 4. I called my partner while I was at home and they were at work, using sidesync, with my S4 in the next room on the charger, however I had it connected via wifi and bluetooth.
As far as i know,it only works with S5.
In a few days i have my Tab S 10.5 lte and that's the reason i will change my Note 3 into an S5.
