[Q][SXS]4EXT touch recovery? - Sony Xperia S, Acro S, Ion

As I come from the legendary HTC Desire, I'm used of the good ol' 4EXT recovery...
But, alas, madmaxx only supports some HTC devices and some Nexuss...
And it doesn't seem like the Nozomi will ever be supported by him...
So, I was wondering if porting the recovery would be possible?
The HTC One X has it, and it has the same screen resolution, though I don't know what all a recovery depends on...
I'm no expert here, just a noob with big wishes, but if someone points me to a site where I can learn, I could port it myself...
I know of sites where CWM porting is explained, but I've never heard of any 4EXT porting...
Or, if you are a developer, please consider porting it...
Thanks

welcome to the desire community yes we have HD roms in the android development section, but the devs dont have the camera working yet .... there are loads of great roms in the development section so maybe you should try a few, see what ones you like the best
One piece of advice - read, read and read some more!!!
And search lots before asking questions as it's likely to have already been answered
Enjoy your stay!!
P.S. the HD port on the Desire is awesome!!!
I would advice you to lurk the forums, pick up tips and experiences about roms. If you like the sense UI i recommend LeeDroid mod. If you don't like sense i'd advice you to try out OpenDesire by AdamG or DeFroST by richardtrip. Good luck, and have fun

Root & Rom

Hello guys i have htc desire by telus. which is still stuck with 2.1 and very slow and laggy. and dont wana wait for telus 2.2 cuz it doesnt sounds promising.
so how easy is it to root and put rom leedroid on my desire? what are the chances to bricked the phone?
please share your taughts and help me and if u guys could provide link for easier root and put rom that be great. thanks
anyone? please help
please read the stickies in the adroid development forum
i did but there is soo many im new. so i dont know which to use. and i youtube the video its all in different language. so its confusing
The guides are made for new people. If you dont understand them I'd lay off rooting your desire as you could brick it
Hey buddy. I was in a similar situation as you, on the edge of rooting.
I also have a Telus-branded HTC Desire. The method I used was : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=763558 with this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788044 for reference.
Its fairly painless. I have been hoping back and for between AuraSense, SenseHD, Miui, and Leedroid.
Found if you don't have a dire need for Camera, SenseHD is the way to go.
Otherwise, I've been enjoying the latest Leedroid.
If you are having problems following the guides, it may not be a good idea to root. However rooting the Desire is very easy (at least the GSM version).
I used unrEVOked to root, just download from their site, switch USB Debugging mode on, plug in and start the app ... it takes care of the rest.
I have used DeVillain, LeeDroid, and OpenDesire. LeeDroid is very good. I have personally stuck with Cyanogenmod. Very easy to install and the fastest benchmarks of the lot. Only problem .. no Sense .. but LauncherProPlus can do most of the sense stuff.
Happy hacking.

[Q] HTC Desire Rooted?!

Hey
I have just got my HTC Desire rooted and don't have a clue how to use it, so anyone wanna give me pointers or tell me how to customize or do as much as i can with this rooted HTC Desire, i have a rom installed on it called Lee Droid, but i was hoping to find out if i can add any other roms or do other things with it, someone please help me?!! lol
anyways thanks for reading this and i hope one of use helps me
Gratz on getting it rooted!
I guess the first thing you can do is theme it with the theme kitchen http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=775970
Just be careful about what you select. Or else you will cause yourself a bootloop.
Just to be safe do a nandroid backup and have a rom named update.zip ready to be flashed in the RUU if anything goes wrong.
Moved to Q&A as you may get more help here than in the Themes forum.
If this doesn't work out for you, PM me and I'll move it back
To be honest if you don't know what rooting is then you probably don't need it - always best to read up on it all before doing it!!

so you have LeeDroid, good, now, download Espresso's theme, which specifically is made for LeeDroid
find bundles and bundles of apps that you can use to mess with the rom, like a terminal emulator, root explorer, setCPU and many more, if you dont know how, check out my appbrain, loads of stuff
http://www.appbrain.com/user/giggles/apps-on-the-htc-desire
here mate sorry bout this but can u give me a little bit more detail on how to do that i would be really greatful
thanks
thanks for that

Information about bootloader, bootstrap recovery etc ?

Dear community,
We have our Defy section which is totally awesome. Now it's time to begin the real work here.
I wanted to spend some time with the Defy Android development and wanted to know if we could gather information about the bootloader, kernel and the bootstrap recovery here.
I just want to know how Motorola tries to secure their phones and how we could work around the protection.
Every helpful post is welcome. Let's see if we can beat Motorola and make the Defy one of the best phones around (or is it already?...no doubt is awesome!)
Best regards,
DunkDream
This site should be of some use.
https://www.droid-developers.org/
lots of info about motorola devices and all about the boot processes, hardware ect. Hope this helps.
And see here. Custom recovery is on the way along with custom roms.
I didn't understand if for the defy there is still a bootloader problem to solve or if it's a question to find cookers who have time to make a defy custom rom...Anybody have some fresh news?
Trust me since Handler got his defy you will have a custom recovery and roms. He does good work, just be patient
He does seem confident about it I sure hope to get froyo on this rugged little beast

Yes, at least for C2DM capability!
I'll buy a beer to Handler when he suceeds!
anyone know where can i find a Tmo defy sbf?
It seems that Handler already started to work with the Motorola Defy.
Hope he realizes that the Defy is such a great phone.
I'm sure that he'll do it...he'll get us a receovery method and custom Roms.
AND he can be sure to get a donation if he succeeds. That's a point of honour.
Hope then good news from Handler...
Anyway this is my very firt android device I know few things about cooking in the android world I cooked some winmo roms and I don't know if there are similarities. Many of you have some experience in this field so I ask you an advice on where I could start to learn the structure of the android roms and the tools to use...

Thanks I'll have a look at it I am a bit curious to learn more on Android...
I remember doing a TP (test point) helped to flash cracked bootloader on my older Motorola...
Can it apply to our Android device?
Sent from my MB525 using Tapatalk
Hi,
i guess no one will do it!
Maybe there is no interesst in cooking own bootloader to kill closed booloader from moto.
Hacking the bootloader will also be easy for hackers (perferct hackers )
But no one do it.
it seems all people with the capacity to hack the bootloader aren't interested in doing it.

CDMA Kernal ASOP with loop support please?

Im sorry for the double post, but NO ONE will respond to my other post, and the people who did, just gave me GSM kernels.
I would like a ****CDMA**** HTC DESIRE kernal that will support LOOP.
I need this because i want to install UBUNTU on my phone and the KERNAL that i currently have, doesnt suppport loop. Please provide links guys. THANK YOU
REMEMBER... CDMA ONLY!!!!!!!!
with how few kernels there are in general for the bravoc finding one with loop support is near impossible.
