hey guys,
I got some issues with data usage, cycle, and graphs. i was wondering if anyone knows the answers to these questions of course without using another app or rom's data usage.
1) I was wondering if we can set the white lines to show the billing cycle (1 month) by default instead of the last 7 days only? I have to scroll back everytime to check.
2) my data usage reset on me a couple of times without me doing anything. Im not sure whats causing that, but i do have a theory that there is a "lag" of when you set your cycle and when the resets happen.
So if you initially have set on the 15th, then you change to the 1st.
And if its the 13th today. I think there is a reset on the 15th, then it goes to your new billing cycle.
This is just a theory, im not 100% sure. Can someone verify this?
If this is true, how can i make it instant instead of the delay?
Ive always found the stock data counter unreliable. Plus flashing and messing around info gets lost. I found 3g watchdog worked the best, it saves all your info when you backup(titanium or whatever). If data counting is something you need, definitely get that. It can be complicated looking at first but once you figure it out, flawless. Plus out of all the apps I've tested, it was the most accurate.

I apologize if this has been brought up before, but the data reporting in ICS is almost double what the myverizon app is showing.
Just wondering if the usage shown by Verizon is going to catch up. If not I got a lot more streaming I can do

do you have a task killer installed, if so then you may be killing the myverizon tracker their for its not collecting all data
You need to set the data usage to match your billing cycle dates than it should match. I have found that it needs set manually.
Please hit the thanks button if I helped.
Don't know about VZ, but comparing Tmo's website and ICS's data meter, they're almost identical (ICS was a few MB ahead)
The 'Total Data Usage' meter appears to be relatively consistent with my operators readings (Sunrise/Switzerland).
On the other hand, the 'per app' reading appears to be completely off the wall. (See this thread.)

Measured by your phone. Your carrier's data usage accounting may differ.
My carrier (Unitel, Laos) is reporting me using just over double the data ICS is reporting.
I'm on O2 in the UK and the ICS data is about 85 mb behind the networks calculation ?
Two days ago I was pushing 2GB and now suddenly I have only used 608 MB? How can that be explained?
Has anyone seen their usage suddenly go down for no reason?
I'm in the middle of the billing cycle. I've done nothing to the phone.
Now I've lost all faith in the data usage meter.

You remember to move the slider to correct date? It doesnt do this by default so it looks like your data usage dropped everytime you go to the data usage section.
Yes, it doesn't matter where the sliders are set, I get the same result.
It appears to have forgotten about one week's worth of data, my first week. I got the phone on the sixth and now it is showing zero data used until the 12th.
My usage cycle is set for 27th-26th, so it doesn't make any sense to me that it would suddenly forget about six days of data.
It's forgotten about the data used on the wifi side before the 12th as well.
Any ideas?

For me the "data usage" on the phone was reporting slightly higher than VZW, but imo that's better than slightly lower!

There is no way to set it manually! If I am wrong please correct me.

Yes I have experienced the same! I was around 3GB, my phone went completely dead on a Sat night, when I plugged it up in the car and tried to boot it back up it apparently didn't have the juice to boot all the way. I let it charge for a while, booted it, all my SMS tones had been reset and so was my "data usage"!! Sucks!
Well, I have let the battery run down until the phone turned itself off several times, but I hope this is not causing this problem. That would be a pretty significant bug!
I gave my mother a kindle fire for Christmas.
Recently it has been acting weird. She sometimes has trouble getting it to charge and then sometimes it will completely run down and lose the date and time.
I personally had to reset the date and time myself a couple of times. It reverts back to an old date and doesn't want to work right until I fix the time and date.
Even though the battery runs down, it should not be losing the time and date . Correct? There should be an equivalent of a CMOS battery to retain that info I would think.
I am going to get it from her tomorrow and keep it for a few days to see exactly what it is doing.
I am about at the point that I am going to just take back her fire AND the PC I gave her just to stop the stupid tech support calls. LOL. And when I say stupid, I mean stupid calls when it comes to the PC. She still can't understand the difference between going into outlook to check one personal ISP email account which she gives out selectively and then using the web interface to check her yahoo account which she gives out to friends. (I don't even want to setup multiple profiles in outlook. That would really confuse the **** out of her) When did **** get put on the **** list??
I once spent 10 minutes trying to explain the concept of a home page when you open IE and how she can set it to open to any site she wants when she starts IE. Even done the web page shortcuts on her desktop so IE opens to wherever she wants to start, but she forgets about that and calls me.
Any ideas on the date/time thing in the KF??
Maybe next step after I test it for a few days is to call Amazon.
If the battery dies, so does the clock.
And make sure she has "Set date and time automatically" set, or she WILL suffer from time "leaks". Wifi is a must or the auto time set won't work.
That is probably the problem complicating things. Her dsl is constantly needing to be reset. That is probably why it is not updating the time when she reboots after a recharge because the dsl is down. Thanks. I'll give that s look see.

Went over there. She had the battery charged up this time. I turned it on and it had reset and lost the time an date. When it does that it also defaults to having wifi turned off. I turned on wifi. It immediately connected to her encrypted network and updated the time.
WTF?? Why would it lose date, but still be able to remember the password for the network?
Nevermind... I answered my own question. It stores the password in a file. You can't store the time. LOL
It would be nice to make it where wifi would stay turned on by default when the battery runs down so I don't have to walk her through turning it on if it happens again. I showed her the easy few clicks, but her eyes glossed over when I started with "Touch that little thingy right there that looks like a gear to open settings...."
Just got a message from my phone company that I already had used my 1 gb data usage for this month, I was stunned as I usually use 700-800 during a month, and that with streaming and what not.
I flashed the newest MIUI last night and been tweaking it.
Wondering what it could b I went to the monitoring app to check, in the firewall I found this (see picture).
Anyone got any idea what might be causing this? Virus?
I had this issue once, but I wasn't so lucky since it managed to deplete all my data. There is somewhere rouge app, most likely damaged (was my case). Do a fresh install of a ROM. If it stops after that, you're cool.
This seems to have been asked in a few previous posts, however, I can find no definitive answer.
My problem revolves around a spike in data usage last night. I had decided with the announcement of Google Reader being retired (grrr) I would replace gReader as my default RSS reader with RssDemon (which actually turns out to be just as good).
Once I had manually added all my feeds into RssDemon, I decided to uninstall gReader. This was whilst at home and connected to wi-fi.
Within a couple of hours I received my preset warning over data usage, which upon checking had spiked up 140mb due to 'Removed Apps'.
Now, having only had the phone a couple of weeks, I have monitored data usage very closely from day one, to ensure there are no background services wasting my data plan.
My gReader usage before uninstalling was around the 35mb mark. Why on earth would it jump up so high just from removal ?
Has it actually used the data or is it possible it is an error in the calculation within the Usage app itself ?
Any help / advice greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Hi
I have two Note II's. One I bought and rooted (Korean made) then had a few problems so I bought another (made in China - different sellers).
Anyway the first one is good now with PACMAN AOKP 4.2.2 the other still fully Samsung.
I cant get my work exchange email to work on either. Any recommendations for an app? Will happily pay if it will work.
secondly I would like to install a nice bootanimation on my rooted device, something tasteful like the mega droid walk. Will this work on my 4.2.2/ Have had issues installing any bootanimations so I rerooted and dont want to stuff it up again

humble apologies = my error entirely
no worries mate
Anyone able to offer any possible explanations ?
Did you ever change roms? And restore data via titanium backup?
Because if you o store usage data via titanium backup then there is a chance of getting it corrupted. Sometimes after reset it would show me that system. UI has use 1.97 his which actually real racing 3 has use this is I think it's because android signs apps unique id on the basis of which it stores data usage. When you reset it probably assigns them which overlap which previous ones which caused the data usage to show wrong info.
this is SPARTAAA

Does your carrier not provide you with an option to check actual data usage from their end? You could compare and see the actual one with the built in usage data.

Hi, I'm trying to create a widget/progress bar to show weekly cellular data usage. The built-in fields can give me my Monthly data usage just fine, by using #NTMTHM29# which resets on the 29th of each month. However, I'm going to be moving to a weekly data plan and I'd like to know how I could monitor my weekly data usage. I can see that there is an option to display "Cellular data usage current week" which I assume will reset every Monday, but if my data plan starts say, on a Thursday, how could I cover this?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
OK, I've managed to suss this out. As usual it's quite simple
For anyone who's interested, this is what I've done.....
7 rich text modules (one for each day of the week)
Let's say your weekly data allowance starts every Thursday....
Your 'Thursday' module would be:
$#DE#=Thu?#NTMTH1#$
This is saying "If today is Thursday, show me today's cellular data usage."
Your 'Friday' module would be:
$#DE#=Fri?#NTMTH2#$
Which says "If today is Friday, then show me the last 2 days' worth of data usage."
and so on, until you get to Wednesday which will show the last 7 days. Then the whole process starts again on Thursday and the data usage starts again.
There will only ever be one module that displays, as only one has met its' condition (i.e. the day of the week), all the others will show nothing. Works perfectly.
Dead easy to put into a progress bar too for a visual indicator.
