[Q] NO SIM CARD rcognition?!? after root + new theme - PLEASE help - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

after installing this themeto my rooted phone, the phone will no longer recognize my sim card
after rooting phone and sim worked just fine
no problems until I installed this new theme
Poppuri Simple Theme Edition Transparent Version
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1967594
I love the theme but for some reason it doesnt recognize I have a sim card installed.
did i accidentally fry my SIM during installation?
or are there some settings for AT&T I need to make?
any help/direction would be appreciated
thanks

and to make matters worse CWR cant find my backup file.
so I am stuck with this theme and no SIM/service.
how do you go back to stock?
or fix the sim issue?
PLEASE

back to stock
what is the best way to get back to out of box condition? (if I cant get the sim issue resolved)
I have tried a few stock root updates through ODIN and I keep getting errors. I think its because the firmwares are diffrent regions than my origonal USA AT & T.
please
thank you
Jon

ok seriously, I'll pay $$$ to anyone who can help me fix this
If anyone can help me fix this I will pay pal you $50

You flashed a ROM that's intended for international note 2 (N7100) on your US variant note 2 (N7105). There's your problem. The modem for US phone is different than international since US has LTE and International doesn't.
What you need to do is..
Go to samfirmware.com
Create an account and search for AT&T US N7105 note II firmware and download it.
Go into download mode on your phone and use odin to flash the firmware into your phone. And next time if you're going to flash something make sure it was made for the phone you're using.

[Q] UN-ROOT Galaxy Note 2 LTE Tutorial?

I just successfully rooted my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 using Odin and CWM Recovery.
This is exactly what I did:
- D/L Odin 3.04 and "cwm6-root-note2.tar" and saved them to my Desktop
- Extracted Odin and started the program
- Set my Note 2 to USB Debugging
- Restarted the Note 2 in "Downloading Mode" by holding down Volume Down, Home & Power buttons simultaneously
- Connected usb cord to my phone and computer
- Confirmed that Odin registered connection of my phone correctly on COM port
- Went to PDA, then selected "cwm6-root-note2.tar"
- Then I selected start, or root or whatever starts the process. And voila! Rooted with CWM & SuperUser App.
However, I might be returning the phone so I now need to know how to reverse that process and UNROOT my phone. Can someone please help walk me through that process? Do I need to obtain more files that were overwritten or deleted when I rooted?
Also, I thought, perhaps, I could unroot using the SuperUser app so I chose the option that said something like "Unroot.... etc." All it did, however, was get rid of Super User because when I restart my phone in recovery mode, it still boots CWM-based Recovery v6.0.1.4
Any assistance would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thank you for your assistance. Which link do I download though? Are they all the same? Or do I need to find the link with the country I bought the phone in? If so, I didn't see Korea on that list at all.
Also, when I do this, will the counter be reset to zero?

Hi,
So you rooted a LTE version, can I ask which version did you have (SHV-E250S / SHV-E250K / SHV-E250L)?
Is it meaning the rooting process of LTE version is same as the non LTE (3G?) Note II?
Also, what is the reason of returning the phone? Did you find something not good with LTE?
Thank you.

I rooted a SHV-E250L. The process went very smoothly. Especially considering I'd never rooted a phone before. So, from my experience, it seems to be the same process but don't take my word for it.
The phone is awesome - no problems at all. It was just very expensive and I was having a little buyer's remorse. I'm over it now. I was also concerned about not being able to use it in the US when I move back, which I am still unsure about. I have asked a few developers on here but haven't heard back yet. If possible, I'd like to flash a US ROM on the phone so that I can use it on the networks there and access the unrestricted Google Play Store... so, we'll see.
Hope that helps.

I dont think these will work with your phone. These are for rhe N7100. Going by your recent posts, it looks like you have a different model.

Brian,
I am living in Korea as well and I have a lot of experience with the Korean smart phones.
To answer some of your questions, you can use them in the states with either a Stateside SIM (assuming your phone is unlocked, you can get it unlocked from the store if you're going to be traveling) or a Korean SIM (obvious roaming charges). I don't think the LTE bands are the same in SK and the US, therefore you wouldn't be able to use the LTE.
In my experience (with my SGS1) you won't be able to flash a US or Int'l ROM on your Korean model. The internals might be closer than the SGS1 and it's variants were but I wouldn't do it unless you have the Note2 Korean ROM ready to flash back with Odin in the event it won't boot.
You can get unrestricted Play Store access now. You need to download MarketAccess. Google it. it Allows you to basically tell the phone what network it thinks it's on.
In the event you ever need to unroot your phone, you just need to use Odin to flash the official firmware.
If you need anything else, let me know...

Most likely Tegrak will have a kernel for this device before too long. You would then be able to use the Odin software to root the phone. The process is the same for both.

Thank you so much for the answers. I really appreciate it. So, you're saying for sure I will not be able to use this phone's LTE capabilities in the US on any network? If so, that's a huge game changer for me... I wonder what LG U+'s return policy is... I know I can just transfer the phone to someone else here in Korea when I leave and pick up a Note 2 in the states when I go back but I feel like I'd be losing a lot of money since the cost of the phone is spread out amongst the monthly payments here in Korea. Are there any phones that will work work both on SK LTE and US LTE?
Regarding un-rooting my phone, don't I need to get a hold on the official firmware before I can flash it with Odin? Or is it stored somewhere on my phone? All the official firmwares I've seen on XDA are for the N7100 not the N7105. Any suggestions?
Thank you, again, for all your support. You rock!

No problem, glad to help.
I am also looking for the firmware online. I haven't found it yet. PM me your email and when I find it, I'll send it over to you.
All info I have read says LTE is different. The 3G would still work just no LTE.
Idk what LG's policy is, but you could take it to Samsung a/s in the electronics market to revert it if needed.
Good luck. I might know someone who could take the phone of your hands next year if you want to go that route.
Justin
Good info here. But what about his flash counter? Will that be reset to zero by flashing stock from via Odin?

Flash counter didn't exist when I was tinkering with me s1. I'll have to investigate. I would imagine there will be a way to revert it. I also would guess the Samsung a/s could do it?

SHV-E250S problem.
Hello SHV-E250S/K/L users.
Does anyone know where I can download an official factory stock ROM for my SHV-E250S ?
I have an IMEI missing issue, and EFS file deleted issue. After wich i have a black notice on the screen and no boot logo or turn of logo, it just switches straight away after pressing the button.
No network or IMEI(((
I just came back from the Samsung official service center, and guess what, they can`t help me. They say i need to flash an original factory rom, i even brought them the two roms i downloaded from the: www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3&model=SHV-E250S&pcode=0&os=1&type=1#firmware
And they said that these are not official factory roms, that they are custom, all thaw when i flash with one them, and go to recovery mode, my current binary changes to official. Don’t know why but everything else stays the same:
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: SHV-E250S
CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD: Yes (37 counts)
CURENT BINARY: Official
SYSTEM STATUS: Custom
DON`T KNOW HOW TO FIX, AND WHERE TO GET FACTORY ROM((((
Would appreciate any help!

[Q] SGH-i317 Stock ROM

Okay, I had a hell of a time trying to fix my almost bricked Note 2 and if it wasn't for my friend having an AT&T Note 2 I would still be screwed.
I made the mistake of trying to install a ROM without backing up my own with ClockWorkMod. But after about 10 hour of work and a friends 'still working' Note 2, I have a fresh backup that brings you back to stock AT&T Note 2 or SGH-i317, whatever. Is there anyway I can get this uploaded to help people that are as dumb as I was but do not have my resources?
Let me know anyone, I can at least send you the backup folder to add to your sd card.

Make sure this is for your phones model , I have a Galaxy Note 2 AT&T SGH-I317.

If you are on stock ROM but rooted you can try and use SuperSU to unroot. It wont let me post a picture, but if you go to "SuperSU" and scroll over to settings
you can see the "Full unroot" just try that. It might work.

Hi cdashb,
I am in the same situation with you before. I tried everything that I can think of already but my imei still null and my baseband is always unknown. Can I try to use your backup ROM?
Thank you.

I have a strange problem where IMEI and S/N on my unlocked i317 being different from those on the back panel and hence currently been not able to connect to any network. Not sure if the thread is still active but can someone kindly respond to my issue? I would also like to use cdashb's stock ROM if that helps.
Kind Regards
Chaitanya.
back up file please
Ok I got it now . After being stuck in boot cycle for 2 days I was searching around philz recovery downloads found one that the md5 matched. So I used odin snf bam it took all of 30sec and I am all good running 4.1.2. Now going to back it up and try unlocking. Sorry I got too excited showing family and friends. All those in doubt I did it . I lost the site I got it from . But keep the faith youll get it

[Q] How can I unlock my bootloader on I747 running 4.1.1 with a mac

I have a Telus version Galaxy s3 running 4.1.1 and I want to unlock the bootloader and root the device. I need to know how to check if it is unlocked first of all and then if it is locked I need help to unlock it and root it. Keep in mind I am running a macbook and would need instructions for that. I have tried google but have not found proper solutions to it. Any help is appreciated. Thank you
PS if there is already a thread about this then please send me the link
Thanks again
SGH-i747 devices come with an unlocked bootloader out of the box.

My apologies, just realized you said Mac. The above guide can be followed but instead of using ODIN you would use Heimdall to flash. Heimdall is cross platform compatible with Linux, OSX and Windows
Link: http://www.glassechidna.com.au/products/heimdall/
Please do some research before you start flashing with Heimdall. Just like ODIN, if you do not flash properly you can end up with a brick.
NOTE: the below guide is for the d2att. If you have a different device let us know or search. Using the below on a non-d2att device can cause complications leading to a brick.
Below is a link to instructions on how to flash CWM custom recovery as well as how to flash CM10.1. Its a good guide and walks you step by step through the instructions. Once you have the custom recovery in place you can flash any ROM you'd like. AOSP or TW.

Thanks. I will take a look at it more tonight and see if it will work, What I am looking to do is root it and flash a custom rom of a 4.2 on here. I also want all the Samsung bloatware gone.
My phone is a koodo phone but it is the same as the AT&T version from my understanding so hopefully this works and I can install a good upgrade to it.

It is Koodo but from what I understand because Telus owns Koodo that they are essentially the same. I know without unlocking my phone I can put a telus sim into it and it works.

You could drop a Telus SIM into the international version, and it would work. Maybe not on LTE, but you could make calls and get data. The best way to confirm the model is through Settings -> About device -> Model number...

[Q] Stock Firmware

Hello everyone i am in a peculiar situation i recently got s3 from my friend he said that it is I9300 but when i received it i came to know that it is T999 and not I9300 . My problem here is it came with android version 4.1.1 build number : I9300ZSEMC1 i didn't understand why it came with i9300 firmware ( i cannot ask my friend as he does not have much technical knowledge ) everything is working fine occasionally touch does not respond and i have bit of hard time switching on wi fi and weird battery drain problems what i want to know is , is these because of the i9300 firmware being present in t999 and whether is it advisable to update it further from 4.1.1 version to t999 latest stock firmware or to stick with the present version . If it is advisable to update to t999 based stock firmware i want to know whether it will work in indian carriers and wont have any problems and also can someone guide me for the right firmware link / build number to go with. :fingers-crossed:
I didn't know the firmware would actually flash across models.

Isn't the I9300 the 1gbp ram version?
Anyway, if certified in download mode you could just flash t999 firmware.
If that doesn't sound safe you can also put a t999 recovery on it and try doing a backup and installing a t999 rom

Sounds kinda like some of the "frankenphones" we've heard about over the last several months. Or it could also be a fake/chinese knock off. If I were you, I would see if there were any way to send it back to whoever sold it. If you plan to keep it though, understand anything you do is AT YOUR OWN RISK! The only absolutely safe course of action is to do nothing to it. If you try to flash it via Odin, and it allows it to flash, but you chose the wrong firmware, it WILL brick. There is honestly no possible way to know for sure what is up with the device.
If I had to guess, something is lying to you about what you are running. If your current firmware version is from an I9300, then that is most likely what you have. That firmware WILL NOT work on any Qualcomm, US model S3's. This tells me that its probably an I9300, and someone screwed with something, (or was careless when trying to copy Samsung), in the bootloader. Because it tells you it is a T999 in download mode, it will probably not let you flash the I9300 firmware. But if you try to flash the T999 firmware, there is a very good possibility you will brick it.
It is up to you what you want to try, but understand you are taking a bigger than normal risk since you already know the device isnt normal to begin with.
One way you can try to determine what motherboard it uses, (though this is by no means a for certain way to know), is go to the SIM unlock thread in General and try to follow those instructions. Also try the GPS fix thread in the Q&A sticky roll up. If I am not mistaken, both use dialer codes that are specific to Qualcomm devices. If they work, its a better chance of it being a T999. If they do not work, its more likely to be an I9300.

There is a chance that someone modified the model number in the phone to access certain apps or something.
I remember modifying a phone to do that go some exclusive app a couple years ago.
