[Q] SGH-i317 Stock ROM - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II

Okay, I had a hell of a time trying to fix my almost bricked Note 2 and if it wasn't for my friend having an AT&T Note 2 I would still be screwed.
I made the mistake of trying to install a ROM without backing up my own with ClockWorkMod. But after about 10 hour of work and a friends 'still working' Note 2, I have a fresh backup that brings you back to stock AT&T Note 2 or SGH-i317, whatever. Is there anyway I can get this uploaded to help people that are as dumb as I was but do not have my resources?
Let me know anyone, I can at least send you the backup folder to add to your sd card.

Make sure this is for your phones model , I have a Galaxy Note 2 AT&T SGH-I317.

please confirm if this is ur current baseband or not after using stock rom i317ucalj2
because i already have stock rom and just want to remove cwm recovery which i cant thats the reason i will be flashing.

If you are on stock ROM but rooted you can try and use SuperSU to unroot. It wont let me post a picture, but if you go to "SuperSU" and scroll over to settings
you can see the "Full unroot" just try that. It might work.

I have a strange problem where IMEI and S/N on my unlocked i317 being different from those on the back panel and hence currently been not able to connect to any network. Not sure if the thread is still active but can someone kindly respond to my issue? I would also like to use cdashb's stock ROM if that helps.
Kind Regards

All those in doubt I did it . I lost the site I got it from . But keep the faith youll get it

SGH-T889V ( Canadian Wind Mobile version) NEED HELP PLEASE

Hello Forum,
I've had the pleasure to brick my 889v and had it restored with a T-Mobile ROM. Long story short, i've lost my IMEI number.
I've tried reflashing the stock(Tmobile) rom but no luck.
I've tried the modem fix but still nothing. The signal bars are there but they eventually dissapear saying the phone is not registered on the network and for good reason since there is no IMEI.
Can someone PLEASE post the full T889v rom as i know there are a few users who have it?
I've tried msg'ing a couple of people with no luck.
I'm really stuck and would appreciate some help please.
This worked for me:
First you need to download the stock ROM here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1957209
Then make sure you wipe data then flash the ROM. Then download the flashable Modem.bin from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1957380 then flash in CWM like you flash the stock rom.
Hope this helps!

LOL yeah it's still me crying about this.
Only thing i can think of now is that all these roms and fixes are for the t889 and not specifically for the t889v.
The model number in the phone shows up as a T889 when it's actually the T889v. This all happened when i got over exicted and flashed the t-mobile rom
I'm so stressed out about this!! I'm having to use my wife's blackberry for now.... :X
Anyone?
Just need a full nandroid rom for the 889v.
Please someone help me before i go back to blackberry..

Now isnt T889V same as T889 hardware wise? How was T889V got bricked by flashing T-mobile ROM?
The phone now has proper t889v rom restored. Problem was that imei went 0 and no data. The imei was re-injected qpst, but only edge 2 - no 3g or H+ data.
Any help or guidance would be a million bucks right now.
Thank you in advance.

I think like most newbies I tried to flash a custom rom on my brand New T889v and of course as luck would have it I ****ed it up... I think royally...
I've tried flashing back the stock rom through odin but I get stuck in a boot loop.. (every time it gets to the Samsung logo) and trust me I kept it on all day till it drained my battery just doing that....
No when I flash a custom rom, I get to boot up and but I can't register on the network... I just see a circle with a line through it we,here my signal bars should be. When I go to network setup it says I can't access network services as sim card is not present. (the sim card is in there...)

[Q] If I flashed GT-N7100 ROM, how can I get back?

First, I'm an idiot,,,got new to android,,had no idea about flashing,, so I just randomly picked a Rom, and turned out its a GT-N7100 ROM, now my phone has no signal at all,,, anyone know how to flash back ? or I have to wait a att ROM come out?
BTW, Im with Rogers.
Thanks:laugh:
your gonna have to wait till either someone makes a odin back with a stock rom or makes a stock rom you can flash via recovery.
EDIT: did you make a backup?
this reminds me of the following youtube video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wwleOote5M0
Can you give a link to the firmware you flashed? It'd be useful to know if it contained a modem and/or kernel (or not.)
If it contained a modem, you'll need another modem. If it contained a kernel, you'll need another kernel. We have those. Regardless, you'll need to talk someone into getting you a system image (someone that has the same phone as you and has already rooted.)
Also, do you have CWM recovery installed? Is the existing firmware (as trashed as it might be) rooted? Can you use adb?
im an idiot

I just opened the file you linked to.. it includes a modem, kernel, etc.
I know you won't be happy with this, but until an ODIN image shows up, you're kind of out of luck. If someone you know has the same phone, you could ask them to do a backup to an external memory card, and then you restore that backup to your device. Assuming the modem wasn't flashed when you installed, that would get you back into business. If a modem was flashed, you'll need to get someone to extract a modem (and I'm not sure how to go about doing that.)

Please answer ALL of these questions. I can't help you if you don't answer them all...
Does your phone work now, with the exception of connecting to the mobile network?
Are you familiar with adb? If so, are you able to get a shell via adb?
When you plug your phone into your computer, are you able to copy files to/from the phone?
Which custom recovery do you have installed? CWM recovery or TWRP?
Is your phone rooted? (it probably is with a custom firmware - assuming the phone works at all.)

sorry buddy,,,
right now, the phone has no signal, asking for a sim card, which Ive already inserted it.
noepe, I donno what adb is, I tried google it, but I think its too complicate for me.
I'm able to copy files into or from my phone( SD card)
i rooted my phone through this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1923956
donno if i successed,,, but it has a superSU on my screen after I done it,(guess it count as rooted?) and I may used the TWRP
thank you for your help....
now Im back to my old Iphone 4
I updated that post. Basically, I can't think of anything you can do right now.. until an ODIN dump is available - or if someone gets you a backup you can restore. However, a backup won't flash the proper modem (and it appears you also overwrote the modem.)

Perhaps - perhaps not. Until one actually flashes from the other, we don't know. (Many will tell you that they've done it with a different phone model - my answer to that is simply that it was a different phone model. Until its tried with THIS one, we can only guess.)
I think the biggest stumbling block for you right now is the modem. We have a stock kernel and recovery. A "near" stock system partition image can also be made from another device with a simple command. I have to be honest, though, that I have no clue how to extract the modem from these LTE phones.
A recovery (and kernel) can easily be flashed with ODIN (or with dd from a rooted shell.) Same for the system partition (which is, basically, the OS.) Getting a system image might be annoying, as you'd need to find someone with a roger's phone to make it for you, upload it, etc.
The modem, however... I'm not sure how to go about getting that for you. I've never had to create a modem image...
If/when a ODIN package appears, you can use a program that will, basically, reflash your entire phone to stock. Modem, kernel, recovery, bootloader, etc. Everything. Normally, users wouldn't see those ODIN packages, but there are a couple of websites that have access to some samsung servers where they a put. Once they are put there, we can get it...
Take care

Looking forward to this remedy as this is the reason I am jumping from att Galaxy S 3 to the note2. Want my international dev community back!
Unfortunately so far down here in Southern Florida Miami beach there is no white Note 2 anywhere.
For those that have the ATT version of the Note 2, if you've mistakenly flashed the ROM, I highly suggest visiting your nearest AT&T Device Support Center. Since I've previously worked in those centers, they have a propietary Samsung flashing tool that allows them to flash to the stock ROM, even if it's rooted. Granted they'll be able to tell if you've rooted it or not (which may or may not void the warranty, depending on who you talk to), as long as the phone can turn on and go to firmware recovery mode, the flashing works almost 100% of the time and it's a free service.
However, as I got my Note 2 yesterday, I've contacted my nearest DSC and they said that they don't have the ability to flash the Note 2 yet and they may have that ability to do so in the next few weeks or possibly by the end of the year (if you can wait that long). Being that the associates are just corporate drones, if they can't fix it, they'll more than likely replace your phone under warranty (which I don't suggest since the replacements are refurbished, and besides you should be within the 14 day return period for a new phone).
Sorry if it doesn't help the ones who have the Rogers versions.

Thanks, but the first thing I do is search, and search. I ran into brick walls and nothing clear. All I needed was a link to the right place, not lesson on how to use search. Rooted and flashed many roms in the years I have been doing this, just never went back to stock. But lucky for me, I do have some friends that are more experienced and was able to get me back to stock.

Start here and follow the intructions to get back stock recovery: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1992303
You will also have to flash your firmwire in odin(scroll down to section 5) to get the stock software which your phone came with, make sure you select the right one depending on your phone:

I am tech savy with other products such as Jtag (For xbox 360) but this was my first root and i know i messed up... So let me sum everything up. I Have a two-year contract with verizon and Total Full Coverage, But i'm assuming this voids warrenty right... I called verizon and made up a story saying... I left my phone at work and it was stolen for about a week i then told everyone at work if it wasn't returned a week later that i would be tracking the phone with the police and that the phone was returned the next morning on my desk... and that i was missing the simcard and everything was wiped... They simple told me to come in and they will replace the sim card for free... Now my phone is still rooted... I'm going to stock flash it with odin or at least try... Will simply getting a new sim card work or do i need a whole new phone?... and should i even unroot it stock?... or take it in with SuperUs and said thats how i found it when i got it back stolen...? Please help...

Hi,
Just explaining. EFS is kind of a folder that contains the IMEI number and other MAC addresses of WIFI or Bluetooth. What happened when you rooted and flashed a ROM is that the EFS folder has been modified. There are many reasons why this happens. So, changing a new SIM won't work. You would have to fill the IMEI number and the other MAC addresses to make phones calls and etc.,
Regarding whether to leave the phone with root or not, It depends on you whether you can make up a convincing story to avoid charges for re-instating the IMEI number back by Samsung.
You can change it to Stock if you want to, but Verizon can easily find out that you had rooted it since IMEI number won't be wiped by any other way..

Oh thats not good.... What would you do in my situation.... I'm taking my phone up to verizon tommorow... to see if they can provide me with what i need to do.... and if they find out it was rooted will they not help me at all and just tell me to pay full price for a new phone (keep in mind the galaxy note 2 is $800 still) also i have total full coverage... + that convincing story... and its my first phone with verizon aka first problem... please tell me they will fix it without charging me....
Have you flashed a N7100 rom on a N7105 or vice versa as that will make baseband unknown and can be fixed.

If its not fixable please provide suggestions anyone that helps me fix this problem or provides good enough info i will give $5-10 paypal... its not much... but i'm a college student.. trying to make a living... Thanks so much guys...
This is what happens when you don't even read the thread, but just download the file and keep pressing next. I guess you learned that you should READ before you flash. You might wanna try flashing the original firmware from Sammobile. But I guess you're in a pretty big problem now.

Guys! I fixed it! well at least i have no more problems with it and its back to normal i called my house phone with it and it rang... so its fixed Lol... Anyways to anyone else that has the trouble i did (also to you guys telling me that i should have read first i followed serveral guides i studied up on rooting for weeks because i was afraid never once did i see anything about backing up the efs folder.. first time i saw it was after i flashed a rom.. it should be noted in adam outler no you verizon post... because thats the root method i followed and it work except i didn't hit efs backup because last time i did that my rom failed to download and stayed at 0% which i'm led to believe because i didn't wipe the cache... but what i did to fix my problem was download Odin 3.07... Download Samsung Galaxy note 2 i605 stock Load The .pda and download the samsung pit file started Odin and bam it did all the work phone started back up like it was opened out the box i am now going to think twice about rooting next time... But one more thing guys my phones working find and all but Odin popped up Fail on one Box and then in the dialog is said <ID:0/003> Can't open the serial(COM) port. This is not big its because i switched my usb ports?... Right idk? here is a picture View attachment 2194422

Hi,
The first mistake you have done is that your phone model is not N7100. It is different for Verizon. That's the reason your IMEI number got screwed up when you flashed a rom of N7100.
The Fail in Odin is not a big deal as it might have been because there could have been two usb connections made or as you said changing usb ports.
Please verify whether the ROM supports your Verizon model before flashing.
Also, There will be still a counter and status that would indicate that you've rooted before If you want to reset these counters then search in the forum and you'll be able to find out.

Thank you good sir! Yes i believe the program is called triangle away and you have to be rooted to access it.... I was going to do it while i was rooted but they want $2.50 for it.... just to reset counters.. i've seen plenty get warrantys restored even tho they didn't reset the counter verizon/samsung doesn't have time to check every single phone its just to be extra safe

You don't have to pay as the dev also posts the app for free in XDA. See the link below:

You make out like resetting the counters is easy or something. It isn't and it's reasonable price for the app.
I suggest you go to the Verizon Note II forum next time unless you want to break your phone again.

I had similar problem. May be you haven't deleted it. The #4 comment is kinda right. By mistake I wiped my internal storage without backup or without writing down the baseband and build numbers. I had to flash numerous stock roms until I was able to make phone calls and receive msgs. Also on stock roms that were not for my phone the imei # was different from the one on the box, starting with 0049 or something.

GT N7105 with XDA Premium......that is all......
First of all
Flash stock and the might sort the baseband out
If that doesnt work just send it in after unrooting. I had a similiar problem but I acted dumb and said it just happened and they took it in and repaired within 12 days.

EFS backup
The moral is to backup the efs folder ASAP, at least before you try anything 'drastic' to your phone

I also lost my imei the first time i flashed custom rom on my note 2. but i simply flash older modem and its working fine since then.. ohh and i als made efs backup using terminal emulator..

[Q] HELP, Note 2 ATT can not connect to network.

i have Note 2 ATT, i am having network connection problem. i can't connect to my ATT network connection . i get circle with line in middle.
i took my phone to ATT store and they tried changing the Sim card and even updating my phone to the latest update, but it did not work.
i tried downgrading my phone to stock Rom when i downgrade the phone. it seems to work fine for five minutes or so i even made a call after one call it started showing same circle with line in middle. i tried flashing all different Rom, i even tried re flashing MJ4 modem. nothing seems to work.
i research to find a solution but i didn't find any solution to this problem. right now i am on Sky Note Air 4.3.
please help me i appreciate for any help.
EDIT: i flash back to stock Rom 4.3 with rooted MK6 bootloader. just to see if it makes any different on my networking problem. And still have issue with not networking data.

Try flashing 4.3 rom from scratch (wiping dalvik cache, data/factory reset and cache partition) ? May be this will help fixing problem
If you want you can try Stock Rom - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2589891
Also make sure you have an APN set. @Bajanman has compiled a list of several AT&T APNs in his thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2172110
I had a similar issue and this post helped me.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2068041
Also check your SELinux setting.
Once I set mine to permissive all was well.

They are not hacking my friend...
Have you verified that your IMEI and EFS folder are normal ?
And have you verified your APN settings for your carrier ??
You mention flashing several roms on the device...
The items I listed will help you determine if any damage has been done....and also help you get service again...
All are knowledge you must have to prevent bad things from happening...
If your carrier did an official update to 4.3 while the device was rooted and running custom firmware....then you absolutely need to start fresh to clean the device up again...
Are you getting Knox errors or force close issues ??
Basically....in order to help you we need a detailed status of the device...
Software version....kernel version ....and baseband.....
The information is in settings/about phone/....and will tell us how best to proceed....g

I'm still confused.....
Reading your first post, ATT flashed your phone to the latest update??? And changed the SIM? And that didn't work?
Why did you leave the store when your phone didn't work?
They told me they can't do nothing about it and the warranty was voided too.

Interesting. I'm asking questions I guess really dont matter.
But why was warranty voided, or was it expired?
Again more confusion.... Just wondering why they changed sim, flashed update, then told you to hit the street with a broke **** phone.
I can understand not replacing it, warranty whatever.
I took an Atrix2 phone into the shop, no working data. I had called tech support, they had OTA refreshed it, didnt work. Set me up with tier 2 tech support, more resets. Nothing.
Went into store, got another sim. Turns out it was simple. I had turned off the data plan awhile back until I was ready to give it to my daughter.
Got online, picked a plan. Data lite off.
Point is they worked with me to find the problem on a phone that was 2-3 years old.
You probably should follow me how to in this section and flash the stock 4.1.1 and go from there.

Well you have nothing to lose at this point then.
I doubt you will find a canned click next solution.
You will probably have to go the "hacking" route.
Good Luck.
