signal - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Since i flashed 4.2 and now 4.2.1, ive been constantly losing signal during calls. Does any1 know how to fix this, guessing it something to do with the radio.

Are you using the latest radio? GSM or CDMA?

its GSM, baseband 19250XXKK1, guessing this is not the latest 1.

On the VZW Gnex, I have the latest radios and have tried the linaro AOKP nightly from last night and the night before as well as the cm nighty from both nights and experience a loss in data even after fiddling with settings the change it off of wcdma. If I get data at all its 3g when on codename androids 3.8.0, I have 4g. Any advice would really be great. I love the feel of 4.2 roms but cannot live without my 4g

After a little messing around, I ended up going back to stock rooted rom (4.1.1) and wiped data and reflashed the aokp nightly and haven't had a problem with signal in 12 hours. Flashed then latest lean kernel and I'm loving it

Question- choppy/unstable Bluetooth?

K so when I fist got my gnex I could use it with my Bluetooth speakers from a far range I could be like two rooms away and could still here it fine and it would be smooth. That was stock. Now that I'm rooted and running aokp it is horrible. I can't be more than 4 or 5 feet from the speakers without it cutting in and out and being really unusable.... would this be the rom (aokp M5) or the kernel (latest Franco nightly)?

Could be either, especially if AOKP is using the wrong bcmdhd.cal for the device.

You answered your own question. Go back to stock if you need things to work properly. Custom roms are experimental at best, since they introduce all kinds of problems, including app incompatibility, hardware instability and broken features (like voicemail notifications not working).
Good luck.

Sorry it took long lol I'm at work so I had to go on chrome and try to get it on there then I had to zip it with androzip ....

Looking at it now.
Well, it is the right one. I know the Verizon version has been modified to fix choppy BT. It may or may not work for you. You are welcome to try it, but back up your current one.
Okay thanks I will try it when I get home

I think the latest Franco is. I'm going to check out trinity kernel because that's the only one I use.

Stick to stick JB kernel instead of Franco for now because the two latest dedicated for JB are somewhat buggy and do not perform as well as stock.
However Franco is hard at work for a good kernel for JB that's due soon
I was using Franco's earlier and had no issues what so ever. It was the 201 build.

Really? Hmm there are mixed results with those kernels from last night, even Franco himself said that they were really rushed and a much better one is on the works
I am on Franco's 196 and just installed JB, and so far no issues whatsoever.
Check this out. Got it off rw. Its a list of all available things for JB for all variants of Gnex. http://thesuperusersguide.weebly.com/everything-jelly-bean.html
I use Trinity now. Is now and always has been best for battery for me. I go back and forth between Trinity and Franco.

Which radio for AOKP Milestone 6?

Hey everyone so I'm using the AOKP Milestone 6 ROM and upon doing the speed test, I'm getting ~ 600 kbps. I was wondering which radio is recommended by the majority of people here for this particular ROM? Thanks!
Test them all out, it depends on your location so nobody can tell you which ones best

Gotcha. Is there a link to all the radios currently available? Sorry I'm just new to this forum and modding my phone with custom ROMs so forgive me.
Well here's one and this is the blaze radio http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1793001
Just flash in recovery
http://sourceforge.net/projects/darksidetools/files/ Here are two more radios, the only one you can download are the LC8 one and the LE1. Make sure it says Tmo and don't flash other ones.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
Apparently the Blaze radio is a bit iffy for those who have AOKP m6. In my own case, I flashed it and I got great signal at my work, it's just that the data wasn't working at all so I quickly switched back to the original (UVLE1 / The modded one with no RIL's). If you're interested, you can find the modded UVLE1 in Darkside's ' .evolution [rom] ' thread in the 'Android Development' forum.
I've had the best luck with the Tellus radio.

Some questions!

Ok so I have a few questions if you guys would allow me to pick your brains.
I have installed cm9.1 on the galaxy s2 (SGH-T989) using clock work recovery. The phone is rooted using superSU. Pretty standard as far as it goes here. However:
<s>1) I have no wifi calling option and its running android 4.0.4 (ICS). Is this normal for this rom or do I need a different kernal or modem/radio to make this work? Because stock has this feature and its really important to keep message/calling costs down and get service in dead zones.</s>
2) I cannot get 4G data. Only "H" and 3G. I got Edge/2G/3G/4G with stock. Is this normal or do I need to do something else to get this to work?
3) What are good custom kernals to use for this phone because I looked on the sticky and there are only three listed and some are discontinued. Also what are the major advantages of a custom kernal over samsungs stock? I.E. What does it add/modify?
4) Do custom radios change signals your phone can pick up? What exactly does changing the radio do?
THANKS!
~NEW!~
1)Since no wifi calling is a deal breaker for me I'm going to try a new rom, so! I'm looking at darkside and akop. Any opinions on these roms or experiences you guys have had with these good or bad?
2) CWM vs TWRP ~ GO!
Just trying to get better informed. Thanks everyone! :highfive:
Also if there are guides I missed that explain these things I'm sorry just link me to them if you would be so kind. Thanks!

This and stick with stock kernels for now. Different radios work better in different areas, so just try until you find the best one for you.

Haha yea after I got the answer I felt dumb I just never saw the little icon use "H" to explain a radio type and didn't think about that related to 4G as standing for hspa. Also I learned hspa exists using WCDMA. Cool. :victory:
The "H" means HSPA+ which is 4g.
Only Touchwiz ROMs have Wifi Calling (CM9 is AOSP Based)
The best kernel to use is the Darkside Venom Kernel for CM9 AOSP http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1775075
As far as radios go they can change the amount of signal. Certain radios make signal better in different areas. I PREFER THE GALAXY NOTE RADIO FOR Galaxy S2 (T-Mobile)
HOPE THIS HELPED!
Darkside, only tw roms have wifi calling, aosp roms like cm9,10 and aokp dont.

CM 10.1 nightlies & Baseband Versions

Has anyone tried running the CM 10.1 nightlies with an updated baseband/radio like FG01 or FH02? I'd love to hear your stories of success/failure.
